just back from lunchtime power yoga...
love Paris and feel blessed to have been 5 times and am already planning trip 6 in two years
we spend 3 weeks at the beach each year, 2 weeks in May and 1 week in October...my one hour walk each morning wards off all kinds of bad behavior!
Love the quotes Ruth! TT

Oh Falconer, I feel for you. Hey, I have 9 books, please tell me which yoga books you suggest? Good going on phase 2! HeidiHill, terrific photo and hope you and family are having fun adventures in Paris and undoubtedly getting those steps in. Enjoy Girls Week Ruth. This is a photo of a art installation by artist Arabella Dorman adjusting her work "Suspended" at the Canterbury Cathedral, in Canterbury. Dorman's installation is created from 1,400 items of discarded refugee clothes found on the beaches of the Greek island of Lesvos.
Pilates this afternoon and BodyBalance this evening.

LB, my favorite is The Heart of Yoga by TKV Desikichar. It just is a calm and practical book that I love to read and reread.0

Sunny, clear light blue skies spring looking and feeling morning, yet we are to have a cold front from Siberia blow through soon. Thanks Falconer and just bought your book on Amazon. I feel IT proud, just made on my tablet a mashup playlist of 4 different releases for BB as #79 is getting long in the tooth and boredom is setting . I'll work on this over the weekend and hopefully deliver on Monday. Lesson planing at the moment for my older ladies Pilates class at noon. Have a terrific start to the weekend everyone!

I get my car back on Tuesday so no skiing this weekend. However, I have learned something important from being semi-stranded. The magic number for walking. It's 5 miles, or about 11,000 steps. This doesn't include walking around my apartment, but just what I do outside on my various runs and other forays (such as walking to and from the bus recently).
I can eat absolutely anything at 5 miles of walking/running daily and still lose weight!!!
I knew the magic number for miles cycled and for skiing, but I never knew it for walking.
Delay in car is from locating all the bits needed to finish the body work. But it should be good as new when I get it back.
And I am now back to my summer fighting weight. So a major silver lining in the cloud. As a reminder, I also do a weekday routine of crunches and free weights, so it's a bit more than just walking. But important information for the future. - Claire

Pilates today at lunch, so four classes this week. Off to the weekend, which is lots of running around, lots of steps.

Have a wonderful time in sunny Florida Ruth. Heidi gorgeous photo, hope you are enjoying your trip. LB Lesvos was heartbreaking to watch unfold, the world needs a reminder although we seem to move from one tragedy to another.
I have been keeping up with classes, went to Grit Strength on Wednesday and Sprint last night and this morning went to the gym with my two neighbors, one of whom has a personal trainer but the girl wanted her to work out on her own - I tried to help but when she writes down exercise references like "squeeze the lemon" I didn't have a clue what she was trying to accomplish but we managed to get a nice workout done and I got to use the battle ropes which I had forgotten how much I enjoyed hitting the floor with them!!!.

Safe travels, Ruth!
Mom is back in the hospital. She fainted and fell Weds morning, light-headed from low blood pressure. Unbeknownst to us, she's been bleeding internally due to peptic (duodenal) ulcers, very dangerous for someone on warfarin. TG for the experienced AL nurse who came to help her, smelled the blood, and called 911. ER got her stabilized then transported to the ICU. She's had two surgeries to cauterize the ulcers, one via endoscope and one via transcatheter arterial embolization. She's had a lot of blood so thanks to everyone who donates.
Been walking at noon in my beloved state Capitol except for Weds lunchtime yoga. Haven't been to the gym all week. The club manager noticed I hadn't been around and called my cell to see if everything was all right. Explained the mom stuff and he offered me a free personal training session for stress relief. What a nice guy! Now I just have to find a time when they're there and I'm free. :-)

Thinking of you, Badger. Hope they can get things stabilized for your mom. What a nice club manager! We had a long day of traveling (an hour long delay for de-icing before we left and another long de-icing in Minneapolis. They are expecting more snow this weekend, so I think we got out of there in the knick of time. It's 74 degrees at 10 pm and we're all headed to bed since we'v been up since 2 am!!!!!

no treadmill, foot has pain today.

Badger, holding you in the light. It is so encouraging to hear of kindness during difficult times. What a good man to offer you relief!
Ran two miles yesterday on the treadmill.
Today, off to NJ for La Boheme, live in HD.0 -
Badger, hoping things settle down for your mom, and sending hugs!
Ruth, enjoy the sunshine, and glad you got out of Dodge!Doing PT for the replaced left knee three times per week, and exercises at home. It is going very well. My big accomplishment Thursday was going all the way around on the peddles of the stationary bike! A big deal and it was scary to do (though not really painful) but once I did it once I got up to speed quickly and was peddling right along (in a stationary way, of course)! Can't wait to get back to my real bike!

Ahhhhh, footprints on a beach.
Badger, I hope your mom gets well soon. That was nice of the gym manager to check up on you.
Heidi, enjoy beautiful Paris!
Moth, hang in there. You are getting through.
Falconer, I think a tropical vacation will be in order. I went to Aruba about three weeks after radiation - yes radiation burns still visible, barely any hair as it was just starting to come back in. It was the best cure for all things cancer.
I did pretty well exercising during the week finally. Work has calmed down and we had quite the thaw early in the week - very springlike. I got in 118 minutes of walking Monday through Thursday. Then Friday I had the most horrible sinus headache, so nothing, and now today I'm totally unmotivated. We are going out for sushi tonight, instead of the usual Mexican, so maybe I don't need to exercise.

Badger, wishing you mother a speedy and full recovery. Ruth, love the foot prints in the sand. Enjoy the warmth. Falconer, title or topic of your book, please. Claire, I need about 15k steps/day and haven’t been getting that most days since the start of the year, so my weight is up a few pounds. Not happy about it at all. Haven’t been walking before work as it is still dark and most days work has been too crazy to get out.
Have a great rest of the weekend. Kare

Badger, hope your mom is better and really nice of the gym manager. Lilac, OMG on the suspended web. Very powerful. We are having the same Siberian weather, brrr. Meow, hope you are back on the treadmill. Congrats to you and Claire on being "losers." I need to be joining you guys soon after all that wine and cheese. Ruth, love the stepwomen and the footsteps.
Zumba later as well as some strength training.

Not to worry about that wine and cheese, Heidi. I remember telling a friend a friend a few years ago not to restrain herself when visiting friends in the French countryside. These were people who were getting on in life, but who set a splendid table. My friend was quite cross with me at the time when she returned a few pounds heavier.
But of course, it was a final time to enjoy their hospitality and wonderful food. The pounds have since disappeared, but the memories linger. Very Proustian.
However, I am selective about these things. I bought myself a small box of lovely chocolate truffles for my birthday and savored them over several days. I was also given a large box of Ferrero Rocher, which I love, but 30 is too many, and I know where things are headed if I attempt to eat the whole box!!! I will make sure that these get shared at a party in a couple of weeks. Everyone will appreciate the gesture, and I will eat only 1 or 2.
This is once I get my car back which should happen on Tuesday. It's been a long slog without it. - Claire

More beach for me!

badger, I hope your mom is feeling better. I'm glad they were there to help her! I didn't know you can walk around the Capitol building inside. When I was in school I worked at the farmers market, and would walk a lot around the outside of the capitol!
I can't remember when I logged in last, but I read somewhere that you need a bare minimum of 45 min of ex if u r a b/c survivor. So I did 10 min on the elliptical, and 65 min walking on the treadmill, and got up to my fastest pace yet. Now to do that every day! It takes a lot of time!
Have a good week.everyone!

We went to Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales yesterday. Although, I didn't get enough steps while we were there. We were too busy talking, and meeting up with our family from NYC. I'll have to make up those steps today.
Love the beach pictures!
Here are some of the ones from Lake Wales. The azaleas are in full bloom, as well as many tropical flowers.
Sorry, I couldn't make them any smaller. It was a lovely day. Maybe a little too hot, but we found some shade.

Badger: Oh my, your mother has been through so much. Hope she is doing better. Your gym manager is a great guy. He understands.
Gorgeous pictures BucsGirl!
Octogirl: So happy that your recovery is going smooth for you.
Ruth: Have fun in the sun!
Heidi: Wine, cheese, Paris - sounds divine!
Good Sunday Everyone! I've been busy painting our den and part of the kitchen. The walls were yucky old paneling and we decided to paint over them instead of tearing them down and replacing (what a mess that would be). I did the cut in, trimming, and some rolling. Up and down, up and down, up and down the step stool; reaching over my head with a paint brush; and bending low with a paint brush: that's all I did for 3 days. Plenty of exercise! We have had weather in the 70s and had all the windows wide open. Love the results!

Rested yesterday but today it is sunny, although windy, so I got out for a brisk walk.
Bucsgirl how lovely your photos are. The only place azaleas are blooming here is my indoor fairy garden. LOL.

Fun pictures. We went to a cool little museum this afternoon. The traveling exhibit was The Art of the Bahamas.

Ruth, you look great on the beach. Thursday I go to the Caribbean for 1 week.

Ruth, you are inspiring much longing in me. Sigh.
Karen, not my book, but one about yoga I love- The Heart of Yoga by TKV Desikichar. If I wrote a book, it would be about I don't even know what. I'm a jack of all trades master of none kind of person. A little bit of this, a little bit of that.0 -
It seems like the week-ends go way too fast. Another car load to donate and took Mom's tea cart and put in the spare bedroom just to get it out of the garage, and brought the dresser and put it where it used to be so a little cleaning done....now have to finish the rest of the mess I made. So we now have room for a car in the garage.
Two great walks today, but fitbit was charging and forgot about it for the first walk - nice weather today. Now sure the temp, but at least the sun was out.
Tomorrow is back to the grind - full work week!!!

Aw, I love your indoor fairy garden. I can see you love plants just as much as I do.
Here are a couple more pictures of some interesting plants that I saw in the garden.
A carnivorous pitcher plant.
Some kind of begonia. I've never seen one this large.
Oh, and I couldn't resist taking a picture of this one little water lily. It reminded me of Monet's water lily garden in Giverny. It's a very small purple lily, but I really liked the light reflection off the pond.
Oh, and I did almost 13000 steps yesterday to make up for more unimpressive numbers on Saturday.
