Yes to moving forward and the stages that takes - liked what you shared Ruth & Falconer. There is a wonderful course here by BreastCancerCare and the NHS, called Moving Forward: https://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/information-support/support-you/local-support/moving-forward-after-breast-cancer-treatment I went on it and found it helpful as there were women in varying years out, one women up to 22 years out without recurrance. Runner, I developed PSTD and EMDR was a fast and effective way for me to release more fully the experience I went through. https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/emdr.html . I want a bite of that pie Ruth. Meow13, what do you think is causing this sore foot?

Happy March everyone. My school goes on spring break next week, DH and I are off to NYC for the week -- Ruth your pics make me think I made the wrong choice of going north vs toward the sun...but looking forward to the fun of NYC. Made my goal of March 1 weight loss pre-NYC...better to lose a few pounds before the trip and then only have 1/2 the weight to lose on the other side!
With midterms and pre-trip prep, will only have 3 formal exercise classes (yin, power flow, pilates) this week, but have been keeping Mr Fitbit in the 12,000 range....

Thank you ladies! Yes I agree...my main focus was getting thru diagnosis, surgery and treatment for the past 10 months. I worked thru chemo and didn't want people to feel sorry for me so I put up a strong front. We lost our sister in law to cancer while I was in middle of chemo. That grief alone is a painful process and add my own cancer dx to it. Mostly I am pissed off. Lilac that looks very interesting! I have a survivorship appt at my cancer center coming up in 3 weeks. Will meet with my doctors, therapists, etc. Together we will come up with a plan for me to move forward. I am excited for this appt! And agree Lilac, I could probably benefit from a few more visits with the counselor i saw during diagnosis and treatment. I haven't had an appt with her since Nov.

Had two week post op apt with ortho doc yesterday. He was very, very impressed with my leg range of motion and told me whatever I was doing in terms of exercise and PT was working and to keep it up! Yay!

hi all, glad to see so many accomplishments, big and small. ((hugs)) to those in need of encouragement.
Here's an update on my mom: mom said this morning a doc told her she'd be in the hospital over the weekend and be discharged to rehab on Monday. This afternoon, the hospital social worker called me to say that mom didn't meet the Medicare criteria for rehab so unless she wants to go private pay, she'd be discharged back home tomorrow. What is it with these hospital social workers? Medicare will pay for a physical therapist to come to her apartment but it probably wouldn't be until Monday. The AL nurse at mom's place said they could ramp up the care plan for a couple weeks but mom is not yet confident in her ability to get in & out of bed and down to the dining room for meals. She is dead-set against a wheelchair. That said, she is doing better and I will do whatever I can to get her the care she needs. Keep praying!

I think all you girls have more hours in your day than me! I have been following along reading the post but never have time to post. I am officially discharged from OT and hope PT discharge will follow on Monday. I think I have a grip on this LE for the first time. Unfortunately it requires the ugliest bra and chip pad you have ever seen. My DH asked if I got panties ti match...NO THANK YOU!
I am working out with 2 pound weights. It's a little frustrating because I can handle 10-15. I have been ordered to start slow and I am. The weather was beautiful for a few days and I was able to get a few 2.5 mile walks outside and it was wonderful! I have been missing my walks so much. We went to Gatlinburg this past weekend. #1 grandson turned 12 and we celebrated his birthday there with the 10 (11 in 23 days)#1 granddaughter and our girl. It was a relaxing fun filled trip with lots of burgers from 5 Guys. I'm burgered out!
Each and every post makes such a difference in my life! Thank you all for sharing part of you daily life!

I am walking around the Minneapolis airport to get some steps before the final flight of the trip. Should be opening the front door of my house about 11pm. A long day of traveling!

Hi All. Like Vargadoll, each and every post makes a difference in my life also. I haven't been as active since we finished painting. My knees are somewhat swollen from going up and down the step stool too many times so I've taking a break and taking care of them. Ice and rest are my recipe for knee care. A day or 2 more of that and then I'll be back walking hard again.

first time posting here, I am hitting 10k steps daily, today I did full body weights too. I love to do yoga, body weight exercise and barre as well.

Runnermum, your experience is not unusual. Hoping for it to be over and realizing its not quite over for you. Hugs.
I managed a walk Monday, Tuesday and today. I also do my stair climbing at work once a day, and did some planks and dumbbells. I am up to 173 minutes this week so far. I bought a new scale which is supposed to measure fat percentage better than my old one, and I want to return it. It says I'm 6 percent fatter than my old scale. I'm not sure if I believe it or not but it is motivating me to stick to my eating plan and do more muscle work. I want to see that number go down, right or wrong.

we got 16 inches of heavy wet snow. Between 6am and 6pm I put in 4 hours of shoveling. The driveway is 1/3 done.

Well- it is beautiful snow, 2Fun, but oh my, that is really providing your workout. I can see how wet it is, in addition to the depth. Be careful and take it slow. They don't call that "heart attack snow" for nothing.

Badger, thinking of you and your Mom. The health care system for the elderly can be a nightmare, and navigating through it can become a second job. You are doing a great job for your Mom!
Runnermum, I know what you mean about being done with active treatment - for me it was "now what?", and always wondering when the next shoe would drop. As other's have said, these are perfectly normal feelings, and with time it all gets sorted out.
So I have been a complete failure with my bullet journal, I kept up for a week and then that was it - when I was 3 days behind in recording I realized I would never catch up, so I said "tomorrow I will start new", and tomorrow still hasn't come LOL. But the one silver lining is that I have incorporated some regular exercise back into my life, and the longer days and warmer temps are making me want to be outside and move more.
DH is away for a week, he did Weight Watchers for a couple of years and lost a lot of weight, but he's been slacking off since he reached maintenance. Bumped into an old friend the other day who just looked fabulous, and she said she had been doing Weight Watchers for a year. So whenDH gets back from his trip we are going to go to meetings together. It is an eating plan that seems to work for a lot of people, and doing it together might keep both of us honest!
Big windy storm here yesterday - scary winds, but thankfully we didn't lose power, and just branches down, not trees, but the rest of the state seems to be hit hard. Hope the gym has power!

Went to the hospital Friday morning armed with the Medicare Handbook and prepared to do battle with the social worker. Turns out I didn't need to. One of the skilled nursing homes she contacted on Thurs had a bed and thought mom met the Medicare criteria for rehab. *PHEW!* We would have found the money somewhere but relieved that point is moot. Got her checked in yesterday afternoon and will go visit today.
Been walking at noon and did lunchtime yoga on Weds. Got the gymbag packed for a stop on the way home today. 2FUN, yes you can walk inside the WI State Capitol, but in nice weather, outdoors is better.

I started Letrazole a week ago and have been struggling with some SE but am staying as active as I can with walking indoors, doing Pilates and Tai Chi Chih. I am so looking forward to our eventual spring.

2Fun, all the snow seemed to land around us. Here in Ulster County we had a lot of wind and power out but nothing accumulated in my town. That's heavy exercise you got tho it looks lovely.

Gorgeous day together in Denver...Sunny, blue sky and 71, but didn't break a record. Monday 45!!! Great walk with gf this morning then came home and ready and relaxed...sitting outside soaking up Vitamin D...but I think I might have overdone it....nose and forehead is bright pink.....Walked to/from another gf this afternoon who I go visit every Shabbat...she is 86, turning 87 . in a couple weeks....17K steps today....based on the junk I ate last night and tonight, not nearly enough steps!!!

Hope you are out doing something fun, Ruth!!
I got out on my skis, and it was just glorious. Pictures later. Skied about 10 miles, and a lot of downhills, not to mention climbing. Still learning how to navigate my new skis/bindings/boots/poles combination. It was tricky snow, so I struggled a bit.
Quads and glutes were/are screaming as they somehow had the idea that they were are on permanent vacay. Bath only helped a bit, but wine appears to ease things a lot more.
Tomorrow, I am doing the birthday dinner I never quite got to this year. I did have a dinner out, but was coming down with the creeping crud, so not counting it. The menu features Boeuf Bourguignon with stew meat I brought back from my ski trip. I am making a bread and butter pudding with rum-soaked raisins for dessert. Found a lovely local artisan cheese marked down for starters. Inviting a friend to share.
Funny story from my ski trip today. I am just terrible getting off the chairlift and I always alert the rider next to me, who today was a lovely young man somewhere around 30. My routine is to move quickly to the right out of the action and crash. But he offered that landing on him would better as would be a soft landing!!! We also did the same miserable wet ride 2 years ago, so compared notes on degree of misery. He liked the part about my turning the heat in the car all the way up for the ride home. Anyway, the ride still makes my Top 10 list in terms of general misery
Tonight's dinner is steak and mushrooms. I didn't plan either but the place where I bought my sandwich sometimes has amazing meat and had these gorgeous filets on sale. I got a screaming deal on mushrooms at the supermarket a little while ago, far more than I need for tomorrow's dinner. They appear to have elk meat now, so will need to investigate.
(BTW - I bought Korma sauce for the overly-dry chicken breasts I made last night. They will be much better in a sauce, and I won't buy whole breasts without skin and bones again. Just too dry, and lacking flavor, even thought I braised them. Back to thighs with skin and bone on, and sliced breast meat. The aforementioned chicken will be much better cubed, and simmered in this sauce with veggies. Will serve with leftover polenta as opposed to rice.)

Sore Achilles tendon so backed off on my long run today. Only ran 5 instead of the 7 on my schedule. Did 35 min of strength and 10 min of yoga as well. Hoping this Achilles heals fast....I tweaked it earlier this week while running thru some slushy snow/ice.
Was at our friends 50th Bday party this evening and now home watching Wonder. Read the book a few years ago with our youngest son!

Hi Everyone! A quick post before I 'officially' go to bed (I have been napping on the couch all evening). I made it home from my travel day without incident (unlike anyone who was trying to get to the northeast!), and spent today unpacking, going through mail, stocking up on groceries (Runner and I are in the path of some nasty sounding weather starting Sunday afternoon.....we may be joining 2Fun on her shoveling spree) and celebrating my birthday (a friend took me out to breakfast, DS took me out to lunch & DH took me out to dinner......not a very auspicious way to start a post-vacation diet!) I did walk the grand-dogs with DS as my only exercise of the day. I will need to get back to my routine this week.
Claire, your belated birthday dinner sounds wonderful!
Badger, I'm glad you didn't need to put up a fight for your mom to get the service she needs. It's nice when that happens every once and awhile.
Wonderland, painting is so much work & I always have aches afterwards from twisting myself into all sorts of unusual positions. We NEED to do some painting and I keep putting it off because I know how much work it will be.

Runner, last year I did a long term subbing gig, and had a very naughty study hall. The rule was that the kids were supposed to read silently for the first 10 minutes & I fought with them every day.....they 'forgot' their books, they would just stare at one page, bug their neighbors etc. etc. after a week of fighting with them, I decided to read TO them and chose Wonder (because it was so good and had lessons they so needed to hear). They loved it, I loved it, and we all looked forward to those 10 minutes instead of dreading them. I also loved the movie, which is not always the case when you've loved a book.
Varga, one of the things I love about this thread is that we, who live very different lives in very different places, can all be connected on a very real and true level. It is pretty special!

Runner, I found that my Achilles and calves are especially sensitive on the anti hormones. My MO recommended calcium/magnesium. And bananas for the potassium. Hope you heal up soon! I know how frustrating that can be.0

Ruth...Glad you had a great vacation! Loved the movie as well! Our youngest son read the book back in 4th or 5th grade. He loved it and told me it was a book everyone should read so I read it! Took us a bit to watch...DS is now 14 and more into movies like IT 👎😖 so it took some convincing to get him to sit down with me to watch but the wait was worth it. Did u hear we play each other at state BB on Thursday? 😊
Thank u Falconer....that is interesting. I take a collagen supplement, multi vitamin, probiotics and biotin. Will look into adding some calcium and magnesium too! I ran funky and stressed it on my Tues run. Ice and rest have helped!
Praying our snow storm does not turn into any snow days...so ready for spring!

So glad I just found this thread! I had my SMX three weeks ago, and am just starting to get back to exercising and could definitely use some encouragement. I found a video series on YouTube by Miranda Esmonde-White specifically for arm rehab after MX, LX, and lymph node removal. I've also been taking half mile walks around my neighborhood, but definitely need to start kicking it into higher gear.

Mom is all settled in and I'm taking today as a day of rest. It's a really pretty day but a bit windy as that ND weather works its way east so will get outside today. It's way to early to do any digging in the dirt but will take a walk and also need to clean and fill the birdfeeder.
90 mins @gym yesterday - 45 TM 30 weights 15 yoga stretch.
