Karen-I would definitely reach out to Fitbit. I don’t know if their customer service is still this way but they replaced my whole Fitbit for free when I lost it a few years ago.

Falconer- I’ve already scheduled my PD day for this year. Are you going to that one in NYC?

Meow- your picture brought a smile to my face. I need some beach therapy.Looks like we are getting 6-10 inches of snow on Tuesday. 3rd Storm in less than 2 weeks. We lost power with each of the others for a couple of days. Hoping we get spared this time. Come on Spring!

falconer, I had to laugh about the side plank, I can hold one for less than 2 seconds! I hope you get your issues sorted out. It's such a pain when your musculoskeletal system does not want to cooperate!

I feel like I am a ball of painful.SE from my AI. Hoping MO will change it and I'll be better. Can't hold much in hands due to tendonitis. Up all night with pain everywhere!

DS is home for break from college. We hope to.work.out even evening. Just on the treadmill, but should be fun!

2Fun, I understand how you feel on the AI; when I broke up with Aromasin and switched to Letrozole my nighttime aches subsided. However Letro gave me other issues appropriate for the I want my mojo back! thread, so now I'm on Tamoxifen. Who knows if Tam is better? All the HT drugs are known for their issues. I hope that you find a drug that's better for you. My DS is home from school as well- as you know she's up near you in Syracuse. She's in her second year at SUNY ESF Where does your daughter go to school?

Ginger, I PM'd you about RJ. I have a lot of good resources from the conference I went to in Feb that I can share if you'd like.

Popping in to say hi to everyone. Still in PT trying to get as much range of motion back as possible. Released to do most exercise again, so I started running again thus past week. Starting off slow again with C25K so I don’t injure myself. Can’t do anything strength or yoga-wise that’s involves arm. Just working on legs for the time being.

Congrats to Claire, and hugs to all! (and yay for the beach!).

My knee replacement took a bit of a turn when I realized Tuesday night of last week that it was VERY pinkish-red and inflamed...called doc who said to come in the next day...infection is really problematic with joint replacements, but fortunately, he determined it was not infected, just very 'beat up' as he called it, possibly from doing too much. Anyway, I had a second doc visit Friday and one next week, just so they can monitor it closely....not the most fun since doc's office is a good hours drive from me (about 55 miles). The joys (not) of living in a semi-rural area.

Leg is better now, not discolored, but still swollen, which does interfere with exercise and PT. I went to PT on Friday and they took it easy on me: mostly doing stretches and teaching me how to walk correctly (I've had a limp for so long that my gait is all wrong: learning to walk the right way is surprisingly mentally challenging, but I am game as my goal is to walk without a limp or 'hip waddle' (as my PT calls it) at all.

Anyway, all of this is my way of saying that I too have fallen a bit off the exercise and PT wagon. I am spending lots of time (per doc's orders) on my back with both legs elevated and ice packs on my knee. I hope to get back into the swing more next week.

I don't hate daylight savings time, but I feel like my weekend is too short already without springing forward and losing an hour: and I'm retired!

You better do what the doctor says, Octo. As boring as that is, it will pay off in the long run.

I did half an hour on the dreadmill just for the steps.

Last year I did a 3 month subbing job for a friend doing cancer treatments. This week I am back in his room for three days while he attends Minnesota Twins preseason games in Florida. What a happy difference a year can make!

Meow, that's a beautiful photo of the ocean. Thanks for sharing! I'm a beach girl at heart.

Heidi, no - I still have not tried the stand-up paddleboarding. I almost did on vacation, but it was at a different beach and I never got around to it. We have it on the lake here but whenever I think of it, it always seems to be so windy, or not warm enough. I really do want to one day. Congrats on your personal best run!

Octo, take care of yourself. You'll get back on track. And Welcome back, CDV

Falconer that article was a good, fun read. I am one of those personal experimenters so I see a little of myself in there. A good reminder though, that we can't outrun our fate by much.

I'm glad to see daylight savings come, but feel cheated out of my extra hour. I actually slept till 9:30 new time today, which is unheard of for me, where sleeping in is usually 6 am. My day has seemed really short.

Walked in the sunny cold at the lake. There are no real signs of spring at the lake, but my irises and daffodils are coming up at home Can't wait for warmer weather.

2 great walks today, but still shy of 10K! Since I'm falling short on steps this year, time to adjust my eating and drink more water...want to drop 3- 5#

I finally got in a major ski of 12 miles yesterday and was able to go to the top. Plus did a 5k run today which is very spring-like. I am feeling a lot more toned after all this activity. This could be the last time I get to ski this season...time will tell. But I am getting the urge to get out my bicycle. - Claire

This is looking down to Snoqualmie Pass. Note that the snow is blowing a bit and you didn't want to linger. The wind kept me from getting overheated during the 5k uphill climb. You really do feel on top of the world at this overlook.

    image

An extremely special view. In the distance are the Olympic Mountains, almost 100 miles away on the other side of the Puget Sound.

    image

Views everywhere. Note the reflection in my ski sunglasses.

    image

I forget the name of this mountain, but I call it "avalanche alley."

    image

View of the Olympics a bit higher.

    image

It feels like a special private world up here. Note that the snow is something like ten feet deep, so only the tops of the trees are showing.

    image

More of the very special world.

    Snowy meadow just starting out....

Happpy Monday! We found out last week we have a seasonal spot at the our favorite campground starting in May. Have camped there for about 9-10 years and been on waitlist for seasonal spot for many years! We spent the weekend shopping for campers/ park models for the site. Very excited but time consuming. And didn't get much done around the house this weekend! Here's to finding something that fits our needs and budget SOON!

Great job to all on the workouts and exercise!

Ran 7 miles yesterday outside. My Achilles is still a little stiff and sore mid run but cooperating. Will do some xtraining today and walk the dog.

    Love all the vacation pics!

    Nice pictures, Claire!

PM where you are camping, Runner (because I am curious). Camper shopping is a fun kind of busy!

Off to school to explore the mystery of history, zumba and yoga tonight.

Falconer, I used to read Jane Brody's articles 40+ years ago! She is an institution.  Ugh on the fates of some of those longevity researchers. It's all so confusing. OTOH we are not a normal population here, as cancer may require different strategies, especially in the acute phase. I do feel I've outrun my fate by a significant amount by my own self-experimentation. I do agree though about environmental justice and that we are all in this together.

Gorgeous scenery, Claire!  Hoping for a speedy recovery for you, Octogirl. 2Fun, many of us have been where you are now. Tried Tylenol or ibuprofen? Moving the affected joints, even very gently, always helped me. Heat is also a good thing. Ginger, hope you are spared from the storm's wrath. Stay safe. Runnermum, great news on your wait finally being over. Please post a pic of the new camper when it arrives so we can vicariously enjoy.

HeidiHill, pleased to read your insights and what you are doing regarding self-experimentation, seems to be working well. Great to read of your new bike. Thanks for sharing the beauty Claire. Good for you and family Runnersmum. Octo, hope all resolves soon and you have done so well; don't be hard on yourself. cdv, good to see you pop by and I've wondered what is up. Ginger, sorry to read of all your MIL and reads as very difficult for all. Falconer, thanks for the interesting link.: Today, the greatest threat to your life span may be the Trump administration's assault on public health and medical research. So agree with that quote from the article.

We have daylight saving time on the 25th of March yet yesterday was was Mother's Day for us. DH is working from home ill and complications ongoing from his pacemaker, DS stayed at uni, so a low key, first Mother's Day without my son - that was a bit odd. Had Pink Pilates this morning and now changing a lesson plan for my over 70's class (tomorrow morning) as one member fell last week during our balance portion of the class. Nothing broken and this member has been through testing the most able to stand during class. DH going in for more tests tomorrow, hope some action by his cardio team is taken. Even though we are private, all at a snails pace, at least to me.

    BodyBalance this evening.

Winter has returned. Nothing like you other girls have but cold rain, freezing rain and a little snow. School closed again. The ice is just to big of a threat in these curvy mountain roads. I hit the dreadmill early and got 2 miles in before my girl got up. I feel a little bit of another sinus infection starting. I'm trying my best to beat it!

Have a great day! Today is is National Napping day!

I got exercize today taking a cat to and from the vet. She has been poohing on the carpet, though using the box to pee.

I also exercised picking up steaming piles of poo and then scrubbing the rug (good arm muscle workout)

After the third pile I exercized further by carrying her upstairs and locking her in a room that only has linoleum, junk, a cat bed, and a cat box, and now her.

chronic, my female persian has taken to pooing in a batheoom sink. Gross, but easily cleanable. I think she gets pissed and does it for attention. Ugh, I guess it counts for exercise.

I’ve been trying to cut down on my internet time a bit, which unfortunately cuts my time here. Cheering on everybody with their exercise! Octo keep us posted on your knee — I hope the swelling goes down soon and it starts to heal faster! Claire your photos are stunning. You live in Paradise!

I had been avoiding the senior gym class that uses the workout machines for awhile, to let my sore shoulder and back quiet down a bit, but I did go today. I am no longer so worried about that body fat percent measurement - using machines on the (very low) resistence settings I had used before, they were too easy! So I ramped them up. Which means I’ve got to have developed SOME muscles skiing and snowshoeing and doing Pilates. Going to ignore the numbers and just keep exercising :)

    Hello all!

I got up this morning early before work and got 1 workout in...45 min of yoga and some ab/core work. Will run 3 or 4 miles after work tonight. It felt good to get a work out in before work. Pre diagnosis I was so good about getting my strength work done early morning. I have really missed it. I take this as a good sign my energy level is improving. It's too hard to get my runs in before work...don't like running by myself so early. But it's good to get half my workout done early!

    Great job to all!

Settling back after my spring break in NYC. In my nine days there I logged 115,000 steps, yeah! Kept the weight even which is a chore when there are so many goodies to be had. Went to slow Yin Yoga last night and did my lunchtime power yoga today...back to the grind. TT

LB, your DS thrives because he has a mom like you! Sorry to hear about the DH not feeling well. Hope he sees improvement soon.

Tessu, good for you to know those weights are accessible!

Octo- take it easy on the knee. I agree with Ruth.

Runnermum, your energy is amazing! Must be something in the ND water since folks say that to Ruth too!

I ran 2 miles and walked .5 on the treadmill this morning as we had a delayed start to school bc of more snow. This afternoon had an EMG of my neck and shoulder area to try to understand source of pain. Next week I see the doctor to get the results.

Tomorrow is school walkout day and I'm curious to hear reports from teachers as to how it went.. It's almost spring, really it is!

Hope they can get things figured out for DH, Lilac. So frustrating!

I had a frustrating day of subbing today. Not because of the kids; maddening because of 'technology malfunctions'......Devil

I went to Dance Attack tonight and thought about (but did not do) an ab workout. The time change has made me tired!

Runnermum and I have to keep moving so that we don't freeze to death!!!!!!

Ditto to what Ruth said! I heard next week could be cool again! 😞 Falconer I hope you are right on spring coming!! Good job on run and hope everything is ok with shoulder/neck. Great job on all the activity and steps TT!

Ran 3 miles while my DS was at his speed and strength training! Sidewalks were clear enough I ditched my Yak Trax under a park bench and picked them up on the way back!

Who mentioned they had issues with Achilles and plantar fasciitis from Tamoxifen? I am beginning to to wonder if that's where Achilles stiffness is stemming from? My PF has acted up some since finishing chemo as well.

Ruth, sorry you had a tough day with technology. Lilac, my mother has had a pacemaker for over 10 years with no problems. I hope your DH adjusts to it. Falconer, I am interested to see what happens in our small town with walkouts. Don’t expect any at the elementary school where I work. I have started walking again now that the snow is almost gone. 56 today! Had a clean colonoscopy. Yay! Have to go every 5 years since I have had polyps in the past and had an uncle who passed from colon cancer. Also went for wellness check that was fine and now I don't have another appt. until summer. Happy almost spring!

HI all - first time posting on this thread. I have been a runner since I was in 6th grade - I love it. I ran maybe three times during chemo and 1 time during radiation. I did walk every day for about 4 miles.

Last week I started running again and it felt like I was starting from scratch! I did a walk/run for 4 miles 2 days and then a mostly run for 1 day. I've also been doing strength training to a video.

The toughest thing for me is this stinking weather! The cold and wind make running so much worse - I can't wait for sprin
