hi all and welcome VL22! The 2018 vernal equinox is Mar 20 so Spring starts in less than a week!
Took today off work due to car trouble. Was low on fuel and couldn't get the gas tank door open. So glad I stopped in town to gas up this morning instead of driving into Madison on fumes! Thought I'd have to wait but took it to my mechanic who fixed in a jiffy with no charge - thanks guys! It's good to be a regular customer.
Will miss Weds lunchtime yoga but great to have unscheduled day off. Need to hit the gym and also get in a walk in the afternoon sun.
Mom is doing well in rehab and s/b discharged back to AL 2moro with home health for PT.

Got a bike ride in the afternoon sun. Badger, glad to hear good news on your mom.
Welcome vl22! Congrats on the clean colonoscopy, peregrinelady. This reminds me I should also schedule one after 11 years since the last one.
Thinking of all our teachers here on this day of protest.

Welcome VL! I am a runner too! And agree so ready for winter to be over and run in 1 layer again!
Will run 5 tonight...Achilles permitting! Stiffness during my runs but feels fine when done.

happy birthday PeregrineLady.
Runner, it was I who mentioned Achilles trouble. It's improved for me since I switched from the AI to Tam tho
Badger, glad to hear about mom.
I'm at work after school, supposed to be grading tests but lacking motivation to do so. Yoga class is at 5:30 and if I drive all the way home first I'll not go back out. Bleh. So, back to work it it is...

I have another sinus infection. This makes sinus infection number 4 in 10 months! Between the sinus crap and cellulitis I have been on antibiotics 5 times in 10 months! I haven't taken antibiotics that many times in 20 years. I still managed to get my steps in today. Even though I wanted to sleep!
Stay warm friends. We have nasty winds and a little snow

Happy ALMOST spring for sure. We had snow yesterday, the big fluffy flakes all day. Today its 50. I hope that was the last snow and spring is truly on its way. Irises and daffodils are coming up!!!!!
Haven't gotten tons of minutes of exercise since my walk on Sunday. Daylight savings time is getting me too. - feeling so tired. Monday and Tuesday I did my 15 minute stairs and walk at work, and then I did weights when I got home. Today instead of walking on this nice day, I was standing in line to get my driver's license renewed - does that count as exercise?

Exercise today was hoisting and taking the cat to and from vet for steroid shots and prescriptions for inflammatory bowel disease, driving and walking around hospitals in rain to pick up reports and imaging for my husband’s prostate malignancy workup, laundry, kitchen clean, trash out, and making simple dinner. Am beat, 1.6 miles on pedometer with many hot flashes, plus mental exhaustion.
Now, how to talk to DH about his big prostate mass report, bx is 3/29, pirads 4. Clerk and surg coordinator did not want to give me a DVD with images, “that is not possible, “ I insisted it is and left fifteen min later had the DVD and report copy, readying for a urologist second opinion lineup after biopsy.
I wanted to confirm preauth for the MRI and US guided fusion bx and the clerk said “0reauthorization is not until after surgery.”! Almost had to walk to customer complaint department then I would have been over 2 mile goal

Welcome, VL22!
Well, the technology decided to cooperate today, so my subbing gig was busy but much smoother. I am so proud of the young people around the country who are leading and participating in Democracy in Action. They do give me hope for the future.
I went to Dance Attack and Pilates tonight.
This is for my teaching, and friends of teachers, buddies:

Gorgeous day in Denver. I have 2 schools I cover. One M,W which is a small 6-12 and T,Th I’m at a large (2700 kids) traditional high school. I,m part of the central team of SP and SW. We got an email early this morning asking us to deploy to various schools and the Capitol. So I went to the high school and walked with the kids to the Capitol. About 1500 kids from the school plus another 500 from another high that walked over together. Our safety and security department worked closely with the local police department to keeps the kids safe while walking. The student council at the high school did all the planning and did an amazing job. Before the walk was a beautiful program in front of the school.
It’s been a long week. I was at an IEP meeting till 5pm after being at work at 7. Glad tomorrow is the end of my work week.

Got a good workout at Senior Exercise this morning. The young woman leading it is very energetic and inventive, always changing the routines. I swear it’s rougher than Pilates. Then a disappointing attempt at skiing. The tracks on the lake were redone this morning, after the foot plus of snow we got over the past two days. But by afternoon, when I went out, the tracks were mostly obliterated by drifted new snow. Quite windy out. Oh well, so I got a nice walk in the sunshine! Meeting my local breast cancer support group for coffee and cake in a couple hours. One friend just developed lymphedema a little while ago; I definitely want to give support in person. Hard to believe I’ve been living with LE for 2 years already. (Hard to believe I’m still alive! Woohoo!)
Sending strong You’ve Got This! vibes out to all you wonderful ladies today!

I went to a Step class and Bone Builders this morning, walked two little dogs this afternoon, and in-between did a ton of errands & got a haircut. Book Club tonight....no rest for the wicked.

Wow! You ladies are impressive! I have to up my game - the plan today is to get out running, despite my deeply ingrained hatred of the wind.
One thing I do every day without fail is walk my dog Leah for 4 miles. I can’t say no to that face and if she doesn’t get her exercise she’ll let me know.
Somehow I’m still contending with muscle and joint pain from chemo and radiation and I just started tamoxifen. It makes it hard to get motivated, but I usually feel better after I work out

VL22, welcome and 4 mile dog walk is excellent.
Been working with a chest cough and cold. Taking echinacea tablets and it's starting to clear. DH saw his cardio today to go over tests. His pacemaker is fine, it's his genetic condition that is on the move. So, shift of meds and wait and see. We have a cold front sliding through tomorrow, may have quick snow and perhaps back to spring next week. I'm off to London tomorrow afternoon on the highspeed for a Les Mills bodybalance quarterly at a gym near Waterloo Station, to learn the new release to deliver early April. Have good weekend everyone.
Pilates at noon.

Went out skiing on the lake for an hour despite the wind, because the clear blue sky and bright sunshine were intoxicatingly beautiful Also walked all over downtown - attended the opening of the newest exhibition at the local photography center; shopped a bit; then joined husband and son and his gf for lunch at my favorite restaurant.

Tessu, I just read that Finland has moved to #1 on the happiest countries list!
Taking a few days off work. I walked half an hour with two bone-strengthening running spurts in the middle. Then had a successful, uneventful onc appointment, followed by a little shopping.

We love uneventful appointments! I just had an uneventful annual mammogram the other day (yea and whew!).
I subbed again today and went to Dance Attack tonight.

good news ruthbru.

th and ruth, congrats on the good appts. Tessu, sounds like a special dinner. Lilac, hope the adjustments are spot on. Have fun in the quarterly. I may go to one in June tho they are charging 90 or so francs because of the fancy venue.
Snowy 2 hour hike, burning 500 calories.

Good yoga class today. Here's one Lilac, that is good for partnering- one person stands at your feet, another person at the head. Fit a belt across your sacrum and one on upper back. Lift into upside bow as partners lift belts. Great lift in the pose, and one I can't do at all on my own bc of my weak left shoulder.0

Did a 30 minute workout after a killer dinner of corned beef and cabbage.

Early Bird Yoga, cleaned the house, took a little walk & did some toning. My very favorite yoga teacher announced this morning that she was closing down her studio the end of May. "The Universe is taking me down a different path." We, her students are pretty bummed out. Darn you, Universe!

Bummer, Ruth!
Errands this morning then went to see mom. She's doing really well and glad to be home. She lives in a nice place with nice friends. They chipped in for welcome home flowers. I think being in a skilled nursing home opened her eyes to how good she has it and will (hopefully) motivate her to stay well enough for AL.
Got home early enough for a walk in the afternoon sun. 50 degrees woo-hoo! Gym 2moro.

Heidihill- We got 20 inches of snow in Tuesday’s storm but the good news is that it’s melting down pretty fast. I hear we may get another one this week but I am in denial.
Badger- I am glad your mom is settling in. There’s nothing like a little rehab/nursing home stay to help you appreciate AL. My mother-in-law is experiencing that now. We hope she can get back to her own apartment with some assistance from aides but time will tell.
I finally got a little time to myself this morning and made it to the Y. I did a Zumba class, followed by 45 min of walking on the treadmill and ended it with a Yoga class. I didn’t realize how much I needed that yoga and am glad I stuck around! It felt great to tune my attention inward and get in some good breathing. Tomorrow we are helping my younger daughter move and I am sure I will be feeling this morning’s efforts.
Hope everyone had a nice St.Patrick’s Day!

6 month check up yesterday....NP came in first and ask a few questions...she commented on my DEXA san from the fall and asked if I had ever taken bone strengthening drugs.... and then more waiting for oncologist. He literally spent 4 or 5 minutes doing a breast exam and a couple more questions. He did not do his usual questions or remind me that I could go back on AIs anytime I want!! Was there an hour totally and probably spent 50 minutes waiting....waiting for labs but not worried....so for another 6 months!!
The weather has been spring like but turning back to winter for a couple days

For unclear reasons I felt well enough today to walk 4 miles on a beautiful ocean bluff. It was mostly flat, so not strenuous. My goal is to force myself to average a mile a day over a week, even if my body hurts from all my illnesses. The lumpectomy site with the Biozorb hurt more and more the more I walked. I have to be careful not to fall due to my prior osteoporotic fractures from prednisone.
I remember looking at a section of the bluff that had a big chunk of progressive erosion, very close to a nice house. I wondered who would kick the bucket first, that house, or me, or DH, with his big prostate tumor diagnosed this year while we were just getting used to the idea of me having BC.

Good job on all the great workouts!
Badger wonderful to hear your mom is settling in well.
I ran my long run of 8 miles yesterday...my longest run since last July, right before I started chemo! My pace is about 1 min per mile slower than before this crap but getting back out there feels so good! It was a beautiful day and I feel very good about being able to run the half in May. My heals and Achilles are still giving me some trouble when I run. They are stiff in mornings for about the first hour I get up and am walking around. Then the stiffness is gone and it doesn't bother me until I go for a run(and I am on my feet all day long). Have started taking ibuprofen a few hrs before my runs and while it is still stiff, it helps and I can run. It is fine after my run and the soreness or stiffness is not getting worse so pretty sure it's not a overuse injury. Most likely a side effect from chemo and Tamoxifen. I have a chiro practor appt this week so will talk to her about possibly doing graston on feet to break up that scar tissue. I also added calcium/vitamin D and magnesium to diet. Was already taking powdered collagen daily. Just determined to keep up with my running...its my therapy.
We finished off the day with a night out celebrating St Pattys Day with a green beer and Irish Stew! 5 years ago my dad's biological family (siblings) found him and we all met. Turns out I am Irish! 😊🍀 Off to do yoga this morning and clean out a closet that makes me look like a hoarder!

Karen, a boring appointment is always good!
Chronic, you have a good diagnosis and hopefully you, DH and the house will all be around for a long time to come!
I am up looking at the weather report. Yesterday they were talking about another batch of bad weather coming in, but now it is back to 'snow flurries'. Since I like Forecast #2 better, I'm going with that! Tomorrow, DH & I fly back to Arizona for 10 days. One of his friends, who is still working and knows we like visiting there, just bought a house and he called and said if we'd like to rent it for a week or so, he'd give us a good deal. So, what could we say but SURE! I will see if I can squeeze in some exercise; I am terrible at packing, so that will take most of my day!
