Jaboo, that is so cool about walking in the forests in Europe. What country are you from? 2fun, my DD and I were startled by a deer last week that was barreling out of the trees. If it had collided with one of us, there would have been serious injuries. Scary. Ruth, between your walking group and book club, you have formed some long lasting relationships!0

Having long term friends who know your story and share your interests is one of the best things about living in a smaller size town your whole adult life.

Welcome to all the newbies. You are regaining your health so take it slow and easy and don't fret.
5 games of pickleball followed by 2 hours of water volleyball today. So much fun.

Peregrinelady As far as I´m aware, free walking in the forests is possible anywhere in Central Europe. I love it this way - we may simply enter a forest and walk and walk... for example we take a train somewhere and then go through the hills and forests back to our village. It´s a law here, that forests are free to enter for anybody, the visitor can even gather forest fruit/mushrooms (but only for his own use, not to sell). There are countless watchtowers on hills throughout the country, people simply hike through the wild, come to the watchtower, take a nice look around from the tower, have a picknick and go home. Well, we don´t have any big/dangerous beasts here, the biggest beast of prey being lynx (very rare).
Yesterday I went to have a look at our family forest (smallish part of forest away from our house) and am conteplating making a new pathway there :-) I´m thinking about it a lot now, surely because of this talk with you :-)
Would you mind posting a picture of a part of your path? I´m really interested to see what does the forest look like over there .... And sorry my weird English, not my mother tongue.

hi all and welcome JaBoo, Naesha, and yellowb. WTG Claire on the StP.
Great vacay pix, Ruth. (LOL patoo @ "So Ruth, who did you push off the raft to take the pictures?") Do you have much cross-over between WWW and book club ladies?
Been exercising but not posting much. We're down three staff at work and the remainders are all swamped. It's been rainy here lately, which is OK, my flowers need the moisture.

I've also been busy but am happy to report that my foot is better and I am getting my steps up again, and swimming!
Not to mention packing up my house for a move...too much stuff!

Welcome to the newbies. Jaboo such a great way to share the forests with everyone. So that includes private land? I am fortunate to live in a county with tons of forest preserves and trails, but they are purchased with our property tax dollars.
The whole family got in a walk around the lake yesterday in between light rains. We have rain again now so I will have to make plans for this afternoon which is supposed to have alower chance of rain.

This morning I finally got that feeling I had been missing when I fell off the wagon - exercise is a habit, and once you get in that habit, it's hard to break. Raining here today (we need it), so I immediately think "oh no, won't be able to get my walk in", instead of "yay, a day off". Took me 2-3 weeks to get back to this point, but now that I am here, I want to stay here! So later DH and I will go for a walk in the woods to look for mushrooms, that's what raincoats are for!
Been staying pretty active - classical stretch is really helping with the aches at night (and in the daytime too). Yesterday afternoon DH and I took a late bike ride to the beach (about 17 miles round trip), stopped and had dinner at a little mexican place on the way, then watched the surfers try their best.
Love being on this thread, you guys are so encouraging and inspiring.

TwoHobbies, yes, that includes private land - meaning meadows and forests. No proprietor - be it a person, a company, a church or whoever - can ban entance to woods or forests. This excludes ofcourse house gardens and generally private land inside villages and around houses. It means that the whole landscape of Cental Europe is passable, you may pack your backpack and walk for weeks and never come accross a problem. 🙂 This includes Northern Europe.

Peregrinelady, The Americans is really good! & I love that the most fraught relationship in a show involving murder and violence and espionage and double agents is between the main couple and their cute teenage daughter.
Okay, yesterday: 2 miles on an elliptical and half an hour of arm-focused weight machines ... and an hour-long walk and frisbee game with Dog.
Today: just a walk with Dog and a tiny bit of yoga.

Welcome to newbies, great that you found this thread. I have been bad again, did Grit and Combat class Wednesday night then had to work late on Thursday and Friday finally left my desk at 11pm on Friday night. I went to another launch for the new Body Combat release and then back to work yesterday. I have jury duty next week so I needed to clear all my jobs and typical nothing earlier in the week then slammed, I'm almost done going to the movies with friends this afternoon then back to work to finish up so I can have a clean slate.
Heidi you sign up for the upcoming Body Jam at lesmills.com/likenina starting in a September they will send you a move each week for you to learn then then in October the whole release will drop, I signed up day 1 I’m so excited for this

DH and I went for a walk around a different lake today. I am also counting my housework because I moved furniture around to vaccum behind and underneath today. Maybe if I count it as exercise it will motivate me enough to do it more often

In an effort to atone for the last two days of lots of food and no exercise, I walked, did a pilates DVD, and went to POUND.
Badger, yes, there is some crossover between the Book Club & WWW ladies, but some differences as well. Several of our Book Clubbers are still teaching so can't sneak away Wednesday morning for a walk, and we have a limited number of people in the Book Club. It used to be 8 (because that's how many can fit comfortably fit around a dining room table) but when people started retiring and spending more time away traveling etc. we bumped it up to 10. We want to keep it a small group. And, can you imagine this? There are people who like to read but not exercise, or exercise but not read! Shocking!!!

I like to read AND exercise too, but if I exercise too much then I fall asleep with my book in hand, haha. And that was this past weekend. We went up to a cool mountain range on the Idaho/ Montana border and met up with a trail clearing party from the SW Montana Mtn Bike Alliance (SWMMBA) out of Bozeman. We had a big group, so split into small teams to ride trails and clear down trees, cut brush, kick big rocks out of the trail, and ride some amazing alpine singletrack. Success on all fronts.

Octo, good luck on packing and nice that foot and swimming are back on track. Cheryl, I like the jam drop till release drops; demand is awesome. Homemade, good to see and read of your success. JaBoo, Naesha, and yellowb welcome! Falconer, back on YTT for a week in August and last one in October. I've got a weekend workshop in Brighton with visiting from the US, Brea Johnson, her heart & bones tour (click her name to see what we will be doing). You read as summer off relaxed, you too Ginger! Ruth, looking fantastic and of course you are holding a Lincoln book!
Hot week ahead, warm already at 7:40am and tackled hedgerow yesterday with DS. Off to Pink Ribbon Pilates in a bit and BB this evening. Have a good start to the week everyone - let's keep at it!

Thanks, Cheryl. I just signed up. HMS, you have a very fit dog!
Went to the gym with DD yesterday and had a partner workout of sorts on the rowing machine, with dumb bells and bodyweight, and some stretching.

Woke up with extra fatigue; took the dog out for a shorter walk, maybe 15 minutes, and ellipticated for 20. It really does help me feel better, but it's hard to remember that beforehand!

Claire - oooh wonderfull views! and beatiful flowers, these are strange to me (the blue one grows here too).
Today we went to clear a path in forest, I enjoyed it very much. I worked with a machete and told myself this counts as exercise 🙂

Breath taking pictures Claire and Homemade!
Octo: glad your foot is better.
Hello to All the New Fabulous Ladies!
Cheryl: Yikes! Jury duty! Maybe you won't get called up.
Hi Everybody!!!
I've been walking/running. Yesterday we pushed mowed. It's been 3 and a half weeks since the last time bc it's been so dry. Some areas in the yard didn't need mowing at all. Luckily it rained last night and more is in the forecast.
Dh and leave for Ireland this Thursday! We are going with my 2 sisters. Doing last minute chores before we leave. Can't wait!

Great pictures, Salsa & Claire!
Ireland? Wow, that is fantastic, Wonderland! You MUST send pictures!!!
A cool thing about this thread is that we get to see all sorts of wonderful photos from each other's adventures.
My carpet was laid today (whoo hoo). Since I had to be out of the house, I first spent money like a drunken sailor (we had decided on some new pieces for the living room and today I actually had time to make some decisions), and then walked with dogs and hung out with them for awhile. This evening I went to Zumba, which in hadn't realized had been changed to Tabata (an interval training class). It's not my favorite, but I stayed because I was too lazy to go home and do something else. DH is putting the baseboards on so I am staying out of the way. Tomorrow I'll cleaning and start to put the rooms back in order.....which will take awhile.....but a good point to be at!

Usually I go on a daily walk, but today I did a second walk. Someone on this board inspired me to do this because despite her health issues and depression she is taking the initiative to do strength training exercises, and this made my day.

Welcome, Oxygen!
I happily went to Zumba this morning and will now work around the house for awhile. I'm going to a matinee of Mamma Mia with some friends this afternoon and POUND tonight.

I mowed our lawn today, but my DH took over about half way through... and went for a slow walk into the forest (slow due to kids).

Most of my activities are outside and we've been in our rainy season for the past month so it's been hit and miss. Then today could have done it but a friend was teaching Mah Jongg so decided learn the game. It's fun so will add that to my schedule, somehow. So no other exercise today as my sisters are coming for dinner (curried beef) and homemade rum punch. Not looking forward to seeing the scale tomorrow.
Later sculpted friends.

patoo- we are definitely in the rainy season now. My toes are feeling better now. Not well enough to run or power walk on the treadmill. I've started using elliptical machine a few minutes each day. I've always had a love-hate relationship with this machine. I continue with strengthening and the balance ball for now. I really miss running. But it's going to be another rainy day in South Florida. Lucky us. At least my yard is looking great. My flowers needed all this rain. Stay dry and keep moving

Pat- I will let you know if we plan to get to the concert again. It was a last minute decision on our anniversary.
Our friend’s daughter’s wedding was beautiful. It was at a local Christmas tree farm in a beautiful barn. We made gorgeous flower and greenery arrangents for the tables and there were white hydrangeas, pink roses and eucalyptus everywhere. Little lights overhead with lawn games and a fire pit outside. We danced our feet off. My Zumba time definitely paid off.
We are now relaxing on our 11 day boat trip on a friend’s boat. We are with 8 other Nordic tugs. We started on Long Island, just left Jersey City and are heading up the Hudson River. We seem to have inherited Florida’s rainy season but we have had breaks of sun. So far we’ve enjoyed walking and biking along the park by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. That’s where our marina was. Here are a few pics.

I'm never sure I should be going to the gym on the hard days of my taxol cycle -- but then I always feel so much better after a few minutes of (slow, careful) running. I guess I'll keep doing it as long as it makes me feel better?
In any case, 20 minutes on the elliptical, some weight training, and stretching this morning.
