Love all the summer photos so thank you to everyone who shared!! Ruth & Jo, you both inspired me to clean out closets and that what I'm doing, Finally getting rid of clothes not worn in years. Has anyone heard from Natsfan/Mary? Was thinking of her yesterday and wondered how she & DH were. Falconer, are you pleased with your revision results? I'm happy with this hot summer here in the UK and covering quite a few instructors who are on holiday this early August. Welcome to all the new women to this thread and let's keep at it!

I love the summer pictures from EVERYWHERE! It's so fun to pop by and find myself on the California coast, or in the mountains, or in Ireland!
Natsfan is finally moved and getting organized in her new house and life as a country girl! If she doesn't check in soon, I will email her with a reminder for her to do so.
Now I am off to Wisconsin for some picture opportunities of my own.

WOW what beautiful photos everyone is posting, mother nature is so beautiful if we just stop and look around us, Heidi, Switzerland is on my bucket list so one day I hope to see those alps IRL. Wonderland I love Ireland, I have so many very fun memories of my time there lots of lovely evenings in the pubs listening to music. Have fun in Wisconsin Ruth. I really should join the group and clear out my clothes closet but I'm always thinking I could get one more wear out of those pants or shirt or maybe I'll fit in that outfit again....
I have been very good this past week with my exercise doing a class every day but I have been lax with the weights so I must get back on that bandwagon. I am going to the Orange County Fair tonight, I'm going with a group of friends so we buy different plates of food and share but still lots of fried, fatty yummy things that I don't normally eat but I'm really looking forward to enjoying

2Fun, it is so hard to lose a friend. Hugs to you.
I need to throw out some old clothes too. i do it at the end of every season, but I am kind of anxious to do it now since I see thimgs I am not wearing this summer, and so why wait. I have already thrown out five or six pairs of shoes, im definitely more minimal in clothes and home decor too. I just dont seem to want “things” anymore.
I cant exactly remember when i posted last but getting in some walks at lunch and today, after work, i am at 231 minutes for theweek.

I am starting treatments with lymphedema specialist to learn how I can lift weights without causing arm to swell and hurt. Will be doing that every Wednesday and Friday. Today I cleaned my medical office.

I am so sorry, 2Fun.
We are staying overnight at my brother's on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border and will drive over to the reunion tomorrow. We walked down some steep hills and had dinner on the banks of the St. Croix River.

2Fun - so sorry for the loss of your friend.
Life- there are lots of great LE threads if you haven't checked them out already. The ladies on there know more about LE that just about every professional I have encountered. I am fortunate to have a PT and OT who were amazing and so knowledgeable! I have a degree in OT and when I start my CEUs for recertification I'll focus on LE. I was so embarrassed that I knew nothing about LE. My care team was so kind! They all said if you spent more than 30 mintues on LE while you were in school we would be impressed.
Ruth as always loving your pictures! It's still raining in NC and my current situation is a total down pour. This is killing my exercise!

Varga, in PT school we didn't learn about LE b/c there was no scientific evidence that it existed. They didn't know about the lymph or myofascial systems. My first internship used compression sleeves to treat LE , they knew it worked, but no one knew why. It's amazing that medical care has changed so much!

2Fun- my strenghts are pediatrics. When I got accepted to school I was asked what area I wanted to focus on and I said rehab. The semester we spent on early intervention and motor miles stones was a breeze. All my instructions said..face it you need to focus on children. They were right and even though I don't work a real job I use my skills everyday.

Cheryl (and all), just pm me if you will be in the Alpine area. PL and JaBoo, I am in Zurich. We just vacation in the mountains. I love the sea but it's hard to be in both the mountains and the sea at the same time and the mountains are right next door. Octogirl, love the coastal walk photos, as well as the river cruise one, Ruth. 2Fun, my condolences on the loss of your friend.
On LE, I was told I had a 30 percent chance of getting LE. I learned on my own, however, that it was possible to lower the risk of LE by contracting and conditioning muscles. I had seen some European studies and clinical guidelines and decided to replicate them after radiation. I did progressive strength training, scar massage, prophylactic manual lymph drainage, and exercising on a rebounder to improve lymphatic flow. It's been 10 years since ALD and radiation and am now just doing strength training without too much if any progression. I have had some temporary swelling at times (carrying backpacks or using hiking poles) but no chronic LE. I got rid of the rebounder but it can get pretty shaky on my bike too.

Back from a few days camping in the mountains, had a great time. Did a couple of hikes, and then a bike ride on an old railroad bed. Back to unbearably hot temperatures and humidity - ugh - and the lawn needs mowing and clothes need washing, etc. I will try and post pictures. Of hiking, not my chores!

Beautiful Pat! I need to take more pictures when I'm out! The problem is I usually have my hands full. Pushing a wheelchair and holdin the hand of one of the grandkids!

I graduated from OT School in 1983. We did receive training in LE and compression bandages. It was rudimentary at best. Most of the training came on the job.. During the late 80s is when we started to see intense courses on LE being offered to OTs. Most states require certification in LE training now. I stopped providing LE treatment in the mid-90s. I will attend an occasional workshop on LE treatment but it isn't the focus of my treatment any longer. If I ever develop lymphedema I will have to depend on my OT and PT friends.
I love all the summer photos. They are fantastic.
I became bored with running on the treadmill so I'm rotating my runs inside and outside. I did 4 miles last night and it kicked my butt. It is so hot here. I'm still cleaning out my closets and it is a very slow process. It feels good when I complete a shelf.. I'm donating a lot of my rehab equipment to UCP in Miami. If I haven't used it on myself or clients during the past year, it's Time to let go.

Just a quick Hello from Ireland. We were in Dublin for 3 days. Left there on Monday and rented a car. Have been having a blast touring all over Ireland - seeing and doing wonderful things. In Belfast now. Took a tour to Giants Crossroad today. Here are a few pictures from there and other places.

Fabulous pictures!
My SIL and I took a great walk this morning before we left for Wisconsin. When we got to my uncle and aunts, we jumped in their car and spent the whole rest of the afternoon driving around looking at all the old family farms (all my grandparents on that side of the family homesteaded here), the school my grandmother attended as a girl, other places important to the family, and exploring a graveyard where lots of the ancestors are buried. Tonight a cousin & DH took us out on a pontoon ride and then we went over to another cousin's, where lots of other relatives (and puppies) were gathered for pizza and visiting. Very fun!

Wow, great picturesWonderland, Ruth, and Pat. It really makes me want to go travel.
The heat and muggy return today and not looking forward to it. I either need to getout for a hike now or I will be riding the bike for the breeze it creates.

Went for a walk with my 4-year-old riding on his little bike... we covered like 2km and I was totally done in. chemo sucks

good job JaBoo for getting out, even if you are tired!

DS and I ended up doing our HIIT workout.- 25 minutes - run up a hill 3 times during that. The rest of my exercise was walking around Costco trying to wrangle a basket that seemed like it had no wheels!
Jaboo you are doing something which is pretty tough during chemo. Be proud.

Wonderland, if you went across that bridge you are braver than me! (I am afraid of heights).
did more walking by the coast yesterday and the day before. Definitely building up the miles on my new knees, which is great.. Today we drove from the California Central Coast up to the Pt Reyes area north of San Francisco. Unfortunately, hubby has been feeling ill all day, so no evening walk...hoping he is up for walking on the beach tomorrow: if not, I'll do it alone...

I've been laying low, training and resting for this race : https://www.grandtarghee.com/pierres-hole-50-100-m...
Which was yesterday. I signed up for it back in February, after only one AC chemo, with a goal of at least starting the race. I rode a lot all spring through AC and TPH, and my goal changed to finishing the race. I rode hard in June and July, and secretly hoped I could podium again, as last year I got third in Masters women (50+). Yesterday morning was very emotional, leading up to the start, so much support from so many people. But I rode as hard as I could (not as hard or strong as last year, certainly), and got 4th in my category. Now only 4 more rads to go this coming week. This week feels like a milestone, healing up, becoming strong again, achieving a new normal. I'm starting to work with a strength and performance coach as soon as I heal from rads, but I feel like I'm moving forward, beyond cancer. Love to all, Salsa.

Congratulations! You are truly an inspiration! I have another friend that's very heavily into mountain biking as well. He had neck surgery and was determined to come back and do a race that year. I'm extremely impressed with your determination as I have been through the chemo and starting radiation I know how depleting it can be. I myself struggle with energy levels still four weeks out of chemo. Reading your post gives me a lot of hope as I was nowhere near the athlete that you are and if you can come back from this and get where you are today I can come back from this and get where I was before it all started and maybe even stronger and healthier! Thank you for sharing. Keep on riding and doing what you love to do.

Too many pages to go back and read.....haven't been on bco sine July 4th when I left for Israel. Got back late Thursday night. I had an awesome time. Volunteered on an army base with my gf for 2 weeks, spent time with my DD#2, then DH joined us, and he stayed the weekend after I left for Daddy/daughter time. Need to go through all my photos and post some of the better ones....
The new school year starts on August 13th - one week left to do things in the house that I didn't get done before I left mostly sorting through junk and purging. First I need to finish laundry from my trip - one load left, go through mail and pay bills.
Hope everyone is well.
