Hello sisters. Twenty five minutes on the treadmill today, and a game of hopscotch with the little DS on the hopscotch rug we got him for Xmas for days just like today. A snowstorm.

Shoveling is nearly impossible for me as my shoulder has gotten so weak, even though I'm still in PT and still practicing yoga. Ugh.

Thanks always for the inspiration to keep it going.

Patoo you are remarkable and congrats on ten years! A blink of an eye.

well I have a nasty cold and a major eye infection (my favorite student sneezed right into my eye, and 5 days later I have it!

We are hoping school will be called on the cold. Wind chill -30F. DS is expecting -28F (-50F with windchill!) in Wisconsin.

    Stay warm everyone!

where are they? I grew up in Appleton and my parents and some cousins are in milwaukee.

My best friend from when I worked in milwaukee called me last night from a milwaukee hospital, he had 2 strokes. I'm heart broken for hI'm and his wife. He and I used to be physical therapists working with stroke clients. I can't just sit and keep him.company being a thousand miles away

Makes you remember that cancer isn't the only stinky disease!

2Fun, so sorry about your friend, it is so hard to be far away. I live 5 hours drive from my family including my elderly mom. She will be 87 next week. My D-I-l and are I are going there is weekend. She lives in Ottawa, very cold here and even colder there, we are -33 this morning. I don't like these long winter drives.

Yesterday I jogged 5KM indoors, lots of tracks around here for that. Today I have physio so she gets me working out :). Taking my dogs out in the cold this morning was a real chore and I was SOB doing it but has to be done, keeps me going.

Have a great day everyone, stay warm, stay active. Love the pictures both actual and mental ( thinking of the Georgia coast makes me feel warm) brightens my day.

    Go Pats!

nan, we don't live too far from each other. I'm outside of rochester ny. I loved Ottawa when we visited a few years ago. I'd go back in a heartbeat. LOVED the big art museum! My dad is on Lake Superior, 13 hrs awsy. Don't get there enough. I'll jump around the house for exercise today

Just a note about Santa Fe for those considering it...I know Ruth will be sending more information later, to those interested, but if you are thinking about it: you can fly into either Santa Fe directly, or you can fly into Albuquerque..there are many more flights to ABQ and it is usually (but not always!) quite a bit cheaper, especially if you are able to fly Southwest from where you are (and of course, then luggage is free also...). From Albuquerque there are several options to get to Santa Fe, including renting a car and a commuter train that is very inexpensive...(and I can make at least run down to ABQ to pick up folks if flights are coordinated; it is an hour's drive).

No need to make flight reservations yet, just a heads up in case anyone is researching air fares and realizes how small Santa Fe is :-)

We had snow last night and nearly all has melted this afternoon. It's cold but not the the temps many of you are experiencing. Great photo Ruth and Santa Fe sounds great!

My brother and wife came for lunch. Perfect sunny day for a bite and quick tour of the hinterlands enjoyed our time together and lo and behold, not into Trump any longer! I'm busy with our Pink Ribbon Pilates quiz night on Feb. 9th and practising a track to present as I'm staying in London this weekend for a new Les Mills advanced course. Inbetween teaching classes and taking care of dog, no much else to report. Let's keep at it.

Ruth and Pat, you sure picked a good week to be on vacation in a southern clime. Monday was our last reasonable day with temps in the 20s. This morning it was -22 with windchill -48 in the Chicago area. We are all working from home. I will have to do indoor exercise when I get off work. I thought I would do it on lunch but here I sit doing this instead. Yoga with Adrienne upset my back a little so I rested yesterday and I think I will look for yoga specifically for bad backs or pilates today.

2fun aging sucks. I read one time you start to get health problems at 45 and I thought well, I had 5 years beyond the average. You just see all kinds of stuff happen to your friends.

Patoo good luck choosing a new doctor and center. Sorry you couldn’t be worry free at 10 years but that’s the downside of ER+. It would be nice to be able to rest easy at 5 years like some cancers.

LB I like to hear that your brother is not into Trump anymore.

    Stay safe and warm everyone.

Lunch time yoga. Had a hard time staying "mindful with compassion" during class after a late arriver plopped down right in front of me so I couldn't see the mirror...when the room was otherwise half empty! I moved halfway through class but was still annoyed...when the instructor starting off on "mindful with compassion" I almost started laughing. Oh well, on to the next class with a better attitude for me. Stay warm, TT

patoo- I'm in the Miami area so I did not go to Moffitt. A very dear friend of mine went to Moffitt. She raved about the facility. It also has one of the highest certifications for cancer research.

Patoo and Octo- I am considering the trip to Santa Fe. I'm not an introvert but I do like my alone time. So I have a few concerns. As more information comes in it'll be easier to make a decision. Thanks for the information regarding the flights into Albuquerque.

2Fun- I'm an OTR who worked with stroke patients for over 20 years. It's tough when it's a family, co-worker or a friend who's going through such a difficult time You are right sometimes we forget cancer isn't the only nasty illness out there.

Trmtb- sometimes it's difficult to hold on to the mindfulness with compassion theory when a rude person blocks your mirror. Lol

Ruth- beautiful pictures. I'm glad you're enjoying some sunshine. I saw the weather forecast for South Dakota today. I'm feeling for all of you who live in Minnesota, The Dakotas, Illinois, Illinois's, Ohio, too many to name. Today beautiful in the high 60s, blue skies and sunshine. Getting ready to run 5 miles.

We walked the beach at Hilton Head SC today - it was brisk in the 40's. Moving on tomorrow to the Atlanta area. Hoping to get some hikes in along with super bowl activities. Jo, I think most people outside of New England hate the patriots. But what an incredible time it has been to be a NE Patriots fan! Belichik and Brady are an incredible combination.

Octogirl thanks for the airport info, that's good to know, especially if there is a train. I'm still up in the air, probably won't decide til this RV trip is over (mid April).

2fun, sorry about your friend. I know how hard it is to be far away. I have a friend diagnosed with leukemia last February. Only 57 years old and not doing very well. Her family gave her a birthday party in December and I surprised them and flew up to NJ just overnight because I'm afraid and would rather see her while alive than fly up for a funeral. Two days after I left she ended up in the hospital with lung failure and pneumonia. She's still there but last week was able to breathe a little on her own. She has a wonderful support system but I wish I were closer.

octogirl, thanks for the flight information. jo6359, the great thing about our group is we do whatever we want to do together and if we want to chill alone while others go out, no problem. pat01, by October you'll be ready for more vacation and with your BCo sisters!

So my UHC Medicare pays for gym membership so finally got around to activating at a local gym which has tons of classes. Took one class today and did pickleball after so happy to get some movement in.

    Night sculpted friends.

Pat - I am with you on the Patriot's - it's been an amazing run! Have been a fan even in the old days before Brady. Lucky you to be in Atlanta for the game energy!

Patoo - I've really gotten to love gym classes. It's fun to work out with others That's where I'll be headed today - too cold outside to do anything else.

    Good day all!

I took one last lovely walk this morning and am now sitting in the airport ready to head back into the polar vortex. I wonder if the car, which has been sitting in an airport parking lot for the past week, will start. Stay tuned!

2FUN, my son goes to college at RIT in Rochester. I think they cancelled classes today.

It was -20*F when I woke up this morning in Milwaukee. Windchill was like -50. It was a VERY brief walk for the doggies.

I have started to post here 5 different times over the past few days! I have been busy with the grandkids, OT appointments (dang LE!) and working on my CEU'S. (Need 36 before March 31st!) Thank you LB and Ruth for the self esteem boost! I really needed it!

I'm enjoying the Body Sculpting DVD'S. I feel like anyone could do them. You can modify all the moves easily. I'm a thrifty shopper so I feel like $42 was a bit much for 2 DVD'S but its still cheaper than a gym membership that I wouldn't be able to use! I had my 3 month MO appointment and it went well. It was a new MO (old one resigned to stay at home with her young son) I like the new MO and have been promoted (best word) to 4 month check ups.

I got a rebounder to! Can't remember if I told you girls that! I have it in my living room and jump on it off and on all day. If I want to watch TV I have to bounce! The grandkids and my girl like it to. To sum up my exercise lots of bouncing, walking, Body Sculpting and for some silly reason I join a "100 squats a day" challenge! What was I thinking! I have managed to get 100 a day all but 1 day (55 that day I got busy and forgot until I was already in bed. DH would have thought I lost my mind completely if I had jumped out of bed at 1a.m. to do squats!)

To all you girls freezing along with me...bundle up!! To everyone warm and cozy...I'm so jealous!

Nan - where are you in ON? My DD and SIL are in Toronto, my kid cousin is in Ancaster - then I have family in MTL. Stay warm and safe.

Its warming up here in Denver so the snow is melting during the day then freezing at night....hopefully it will all be gone by Sunday before the next snow on Monday or Tuesday

The union and the district are back to the bargaining table tonight....Sure hope they come to an agreement....

zogo, I can't even imagine walking dogs in your temps. -50, they can't even open their mouths to breathe or their saliva would freeze immediately. Do they have boots lined with alpaca for dogs? Fur lined hoodie? Brrrr. We stopped complaining down here in the 30s because of what you northerners are experiencing.

ruthbru, hopefully you have arrived or almost arrived home safely and warm with no car problems. Don't they have inside parking for cars? Do you have to shovel the car out?

No formal exercise today. Busy with "stuff". Doing a stretching class tomorrow morning. Then there is a fundraiser for Lymphona tomorrow with 10,000 dancers doing the Electric Slide all at the same time here on our Polo Fields. That will be a sight!

    Night sculpted friends.

24-hours without a post? Wow, don't think I've ever seen that on this thread. Everybody frozen stiff? Out temp actualy went back up to the 70s today after falling into the 30s overnight. I think around the country has begun to thaw out as well. Hopefully anyhow.

Walk Away the Pounds, 3 miles, this morning then lots of walking and dancing at the Lymphoma event this afternoon. Don't think they got 10,000 but may have broken the old record of around 5100, I think. Will try to get to the gym tomorrow and check out the classes though there aren't many on weekends. Can work out in any case.

Night sculpted friends. Hopefully you're not here because you are involved in some very FUN things.

patoo-- it's been in the fifties to the high 70s here. Today was just plain hot and humid. I'm running a 5k in the morning and Sunday morning.

Pat- I used to hike up to Stone Mountain back in the early 80s. I did a clinical rotation at Emory University in 1983. Yes my age is showing.

I've been in California for a combination of family visits and work...just got back Thursday night and trying to adjust to the cold again, though cold here in Santa Fe isn't even in the same universe as the Polar Vortex...the sun is shining today and while it is in the twenties right now, supposed to get up to 46F this afternoon...time for a hike!

Hubby has decided to take up weight training; I think I need to join him.

    Have a great weekend all!

Love the polar opposite photos, Ruth (Arizona and snow dogs)!

Vargadoll, woohooo on the 100 squats!

Trying to up my game as have gotten a bit lazy. Yesterday had my first salsa class of the year. Went to Zumba today then did some weights at the gym. Biked about an hour in the cold to buy some winter running clothes which I can use for biking and cross country skiing. Back home did a half hour of pilates flow with the bosu ball. It felt like yoga so it must be doing something good for my flexibility.

    Congrats on 10 years, patoo!!

Found a “Yoga for the Back” session and did that Thursday. It made my back feel better but my calves hurt pretty bad for some reason. LOL cant win. The polar vortex went away so I went for a walk in 37 degree weather and had to unzip my coat it was so hot. Got out to the lake where I see the geese have moved on and are replaced with ice fishermen and fisherwomen. Then I came home and walked the dog around the block. We were both glad to be able to get out of the house.
