Sounds like you're feeling better, Jo.

Went to a power pimp class and then ran 3 miles on the treadmill. Windchill was too much to run outside.

twohobbies- I live in within 1 mile of restaurants, grocery store, shops, e t c. My problem is I can do it throughout the winter time but the summer heat is a real challenge. Even walking a half a mile to the restaurant when the temperature is 94 not counting the humidity index it isn't any fun. By the time I arrive at the restaurant I'm drenched. I don't see how you do it in the winter time.

Mickey- I feel fantastic. I believe the dizziness came from slight dehydration.

The pumps are exhausted from their day at the groomers. My other two dogs wouldn't even face the camera.

Ruth - love the snowblower "fight"...Our street is not one that gets plowed....

So disappointed. The union and district negotiated last night and again today. Around 6 pm I checked the news on the computer and it seemed promising that an agreement would come together. Well, the union walked out of negotiations at 7pm and the strike is on starting Monday morning. I thought what the district was offering sounded reasonable. This is just so stressful. I was so hoping that this wouldn't happen.

Tomorrow we have a birthday party for a friend's 3 year old son!! Should be fun.

Snow back in the forecast for Thursday and again the following Sunday and Monday....

    Sweet dreams

    https://www.cuimc.columbia.edu/news/how-exercise-may-protect-against-alzheimers

Another reason to exercise: Mice who swam nearly every day for five weeks did not develop memory impairment despite getting infusions of beta amyloid -- the neuron-clogging, memory-robbing protein implicated in Alzheimer's. Thanks to irisin, a hormone released during exercise. I have been exercising nearly every day for the last 11 years and still don't forget to post here every once in a while. Haha.

For those who can't exercise or for when you just can't, irisin is also produced when you are cold and shiver.

For the weight loss crowd, irisin fights fat by transforming energy-storing white fat cells into energy-burning brown fat cells and appears to inhibit the formation of fat cells in general. Irisin also promotes the development of strong bones.

Zumba and weights yesterday at the gym for a double dose of irisin. Planning on a long-ish yoga session today and a walk outside with DD and DH.

I should be double protected then since I exercise every day and am shivering cold for about 6 months of the year!!

Aw, Jo they are so cute and clean and fresh! Yes you would have a good opportunity in the winter to walk everywhere but hard in the summer heat.

Karen sorry about the strike. Hopefully it won’t last too long.

Interesting article, Heidi. Exercise in the cold is probably ideal, so it makes me feel better about my cold, winter walks. Swimming may also induce that cold response, and would explain why they chose swimming for the mice as exercise? The article didn’t mention that but Iwondered why swimming instead of mouse wheel.

I have a picture in my head of a mouse in swim trunks with a beach towel right now.

Hi everyone, we are having a lovely day today, very cold but light winds and some sun so I took the dogs for a nice long walk. I ordered the book the RBG workout, cant wait to get it :) and start doing it as she is an inspiration (Ruth Bader Ginsburg).

Ruth love the snow wars, very funny. Joe glad you and friend are doing better and dogs are sooo cute. Karen i have been there. The good thing about our strike was we had fun on the picket line. We solidified friendships and made the most of it. I twas for 2 weeks in January with record low temps. So glad it was only 2 weeks i hoping yours is short too. My job is on the line. We have a new provincial government and they are doing a lot of cuts. One of the departments rumoured to be on the chopping block is where i work. I am changing roles in a week and i will no longer be working from home but will be working at the hospital so i will be doing a lot more walking so that is good but even there my job is on shaky ground. I did have an ultrasound 2 days ago on a lump in other breast, it has been there for a while and monitored but never shows on mammo so i was worried. Radiologist says it looks like nothing to worry about and i am so happy about that.

LilacBlue happy anniversary. Sometimes i feel exhausted just reading all the exercise the women on this board do lol. Anyone else every done the RBG?

Happy Anniversary LB. Hope your quiz night is a hit!

Heidi, your joke made me chuckle

Peregrine, I think I have one episode to go. Saving it for the treadmill, though I can't wait to find out what happens..

Yesterday I walked a mile and a half outdoors on the rail trail. Running was out of the question as it was super icy. Today, yoga class in the sunny studio. Spring is coming, I can feel it.

Karen, sorry about the strike. Very stressful. Hopefully things can be resolved sooner than later. PLEASE quit sending us your weather! We had 2 inches of snow this morning, are predicted at least 4 more tomorrow, and more off and on all week.

I went to Pound, walked around the track for awhile and then, since it was a balmy 2 below, DH & I spent an hour chopping the ice off the driveway and digging out the mailbox (the snowplows don't get near the curb and the snow they push to the side is like cement.....definitely got our upper body workouts!).

Wow, you are truly a brave woman, Ruth! I imagine the workout warms you up, but 2 below seems hard to think about being outside at all for any length of time.

Thank you for the article, Heidi. I love this thread it is very motivating - I know I excercise more than I would without it. Walked today for 3 miles.

Didn’t have to do a workout today. We were helping friends move some things into their new house.

Ruth, that's a lot of snow!

Walked about 2.5 miles today, in the cold (well, Santa Fe cold...nothing even at all close to 2 below!).

Mommy, I can relate: starting to pack up boxes for my March move! Our plan is to move most of what will fit in the car ourselves (since we are only moving ten minutes away and can make multiple trips)...but will hire movers for the furniture and big stuff....

Heading to DC later this week for work. It's a great walking town...too bad it is supposed to rain most of the time I am there!

Ruth - Great picture of you and the snow....I'll try to keep the snow away from you.....it is supposed to be cold and windy tomorrow - time for my School Psychologist hoodie - leggings and jean skirt.

I called my oncologist to see if he got the labs from nephrologist - talked to nurse - she said he got them but hadn't looked at them - then said one of the other docs would be better to look at them (my onc specifically only deals with breast cancer). Med onc said if I was his patient, he would repeat the labs in 3 to 6 months - thats what I'll do. I see the nephrologist in 3+ weeks and oncologist in just over a month for my 6 month visit. Have some dental work planned in 3 weeks - need a crown taken off, cavity filled and and and new crown - sure hope I don't loose the tooth.

School district was ready to negotiate today, but union was not having anything to do with it - needed to get ready to strike tomorrow - next negotiation session is sometime on Tuesday.

Time to bundle up and go for evening walk - its a balmy 22F outside!!! For some reason this year, both DH and I have turned into wimps in the cold!!!

    Sweet dreams

We were one of at least six vehicles that helped our friends move. We had boxes in our car and the big stuff like furniture went into the pickups of other friends who were helping. I was pooped and hirting when we got home.

This is our weather report: Winter storm with a combination of 10 to 20 cm snow, ice pellets and freezing freezing rain expected Tuesday and Tuesday night.
Snow and local blowing snow will begin early Tuesday morning. Snow is expected to transition to a mix of ice pellets and freezing rain Tuesday afternoon. Strong easterly winds gusting to 70 km/h are expected.

Will be inside again :). I did the RBG workout - wow I cant believe she can do it at 85years old. It says she takes about an hour, it took me 1 hours and 40 minutes and I was soaking wet, today I am very sore lol. Felt great though.

My dear friend passed away this evening. Her granddaughter had decided yesterday to bring her home for Hospice care. Her discharge was supposed to be tomorrow. The cancer had spread to her lungs and brain. She was not in any pain. She was a lovely lady. She will be missed.

jo, so sorry about your friend.

ruthbru, I remember not minding shoveling back in NJ but don't miss it at all. I never was able to get any exercise outside (other than shoveling) in the cold. Found it very hard to breathe so a gym and/or DVDs were key.

Played 3 or 4 games pickleball today but need to get back to hydrating. Don't drink as much water as I should and after several games can tell because get a little dizzy in the 70 degree temps. We may be done with winter here. Only one night scheduled to get down to about 43 but days hitting high 70s so guess we are entering an early spring.

    Night sculpted friends.

Jo, I'm so sorry to read of the loss of your dear friend. Falconer, twas a fun quiz night and cleared a little over £700. - YaY! The photo posted was the winning team named TitsUp with wine won and Isabel in pink plaid shirt a member of Pink Ribbon Pilates. My DH is the man seated in the back, left to edge of frame with glasses and dear friend Sally next to him. They were a team of only 3 and named BilleNoMates. Have a good Tuesday everyone!

Nice picture, Lilac! Looks like a fun time.

Pound this morning, shoveled some (DH is snowblowing right now, just too much to just shovel), and might walk the little dogs this afternoon.
