"Snowy" rainy day today - walked with DH after work, but no walk after dinner. First time in a long time didn't get 10K!! Supposed to get to the 70s by the week-end so hope to make up the steps.
One month left of the school year and I'm beginning to feel overwhelmed with everything I need to do. The calendar seems to get fuller and fuller!!

Karen, when I was teaching, every spring I had the 'kitty litter dream'. I was scooping and scooping and scooping the poop out of the cat box, but could never get to the bottom. (It wouldn't take Sigmund Freud to figure that one out!)
I had a nice, peaceful day of subbing in the library. I did an hour of spot toning with Denise Austin at home & now need to jump on the treadmill to finish off the daily 10,000 steps.

Ruth: OMG! The kitty litter dream sounds horrible. I don't like cleaning ours and I can't imagine dreaming about endless scooping and never getting it cleaned out. Siggy would love that dream!
Patoo: Congratulations on finishing Arimidex!
Beautiful pictures, Claire!
It was 87 degrees today. Ugh. I pushed mowed and did ok. My afib has been acting up this evening. Resting now.

Its been raining nonstop here since Monday, so when the sun peaked out this morning I jumped at the chance for a brisk walk. I’m about 2 miles in, but staying close to home in case the sky opens up. Its quickly getting darker so I’ll have to head in soon or risk getting soaked!

The cold, rainy weather brought the Walking Women back indoors. Here's a picture of us at breakfast holding the lemons brought back by one of our members who has just returned from Arizona.

Fritz: Hope you didn't get wet!
Ruth: Pretty lemons! Sorry about the cold and rain. We were sunny and highs in the mid 80s.
Sat outside on the deck this morning and enjoyed the warm breeze while reading a book. My heart was a little wonky so I took it easy. Felt better this evening so was able to go for my walk. Yes!

Great job with all the exercise, girls! I went for a nice 3-mile walk/jog, then came home and did 15 minutes of strength training followed by 15 minutes of gentle yoga. Felt good! The next week is goi go to be pretty rainy and gray here in the northeast so I'm glad I was able to get out today.

Saturday I was headed to the east coast for work, but thanks to the snow (!) in Chicago my flight was cancelled and the earliest they could re-book me was Sunday....which may have been a blessing in disguise because Saturday night I came down violently ill! I shudder to think what would have happened if that had happened while I was flying! Anyway, probably a norovirus, so no east coast trip for me and I've been home and pretty much down for the count. Lots of liquids and chicken soup once I could keep it down...my first solid food was mashed potatoes on Tuesday (an old standby from chemo days...though I have to say for the first two days of this I felt much worse than I ever did on chemo: thank goodness for the good chemo drugs!). Anyway, today I actually ate a real dinner: roast chicken, corn, brussel sprouts: and my stomach still feels fine! Yay!
But no exercising obviously. Going to rest another day and try and get ready for a busy weekend: the renovations on the bedrooms in our new house are almost done and we finish our move on Sunday, when we move the bedroom furniture!
And then really have to get back into the exercising...hmm....I wonder if I lost any weight?

Had a wonderful time in Faro Portugal last week. Mostly light crowds of French tourists, walked all over this lovely city and enjoyed local seafood at every meal. Was able to take in a yoga class, taught in Portuguese and Sanskrit. Had a class this morning cancelled due to being held in a parish hall and because it's an election day, they use the gym as a polling station. I'm away this Bank Holiday weekend on a two day women's yoga retreat. It's a mother & daughter (both yoga teachers) who are putting this on. I know no one who is attending other than the daughter, and look forward to lots of yoga, workshops, vegan meals, relaxing a bit out of my comfort zone. The focus of this year is to create a better work/life balance and thus far, by letting go of a later evening class in Folkestone and replacing it with a earlier one locally, to have another evening free with dh, taking time off to delve into what I enjoy, a deeper sense of feeling chilled is taking root. Good stuff and let's keep at it!

Bangin Bakasana Lilac Blue!
We just finished up poetry month today, so I’m alliteration’d out.
However, a cool thing is that my new gyn, awesome smart woman, is Audre Lorde’s daughter. Exciting for a geeky English teacher like me!

Neat pictures, Lilac! I love your 'deeper sense of feeling chilled' sentiment (although if I say that, it's probably because I've been out in the cold too long & need a steaming hot shower to get un-chilled ).
Zumba, doggie walking, Yoga for me today.

Was testing a kid today - elementary school age - he got frustrated and said "whats up old lady? leave me alone" . A first to be called an old lady - I said to the student "true". I've been called lots of things but never "old lady" - been asked if I'm someone's grandma. Needless to say we didn't get very far!!! Speaking of school - 4 weeks left!!! May is a busy month - my calendar is full and getting added to all the time!!!
Prior to my BC diagnosis I was a regular blood donor. Finally started back about a year ago. Trying to log in online and it won't let me. When I try to get a new password, it doesn't email me the link!! So frustrating. I access the patient portal for all my doctors and for my labs - Its nice to be able to access the information whenever I want - doctors also call with results if something is off. Unfortunately, I have too many "ologists"!!!! But I won't complain as I'm still on this side of the grass!!!
Sweet dreams

Patoo, congrats on finishing 10 years! Octogirl, hope you are feeling better. Peregrine, that's so true. Lilac, love that pose and the octopus dish.
Wonderland, just wondering if high frequency vibrations from the push mower could be interfering with your heart's electrical wiring/signalling. Worth looking into maybe. ( Neither an engineer, doctor nor have I ever been near a lawn mower )
Doing lots of hiking and biking for our spring break.

I subbed (7th grade history,my favorite!) and went out for a VERY large dinner. Luckily I got 10,000 steps during the day, because I'm too full to exercise now!

The sun finally came out today, so I did 3.5 miles this morning, and then almost 2 with my dog this evening. In my profile picture he's only a few months old, and now he'll be 9 next month. He's an 80lb lab and you can tell that his joints take a while to get going when he gets up and he tires out on walks after too long, so our walk was slow and relaxed, but fine by me. I'm 160 steps away from 18k for the day.

I am going to be doing lots of puppy walking too. DS, his roommate & another friend are taking off today for an Alaskan vacation. DH & I will be babysitting their 2 dogs & 2 cats for the next 12 days!! The new 4 month old puppy already weights 30 pounds and does NOT tire out, so we will be getting lots of exercise!!

Since I have been upgrading my place, I decided that my exercise gear could use a bit of attention. So yesterday, I ordered a new pair of Fila running/walking shoes to replace the biohazard ones that also have completely worn through on the sole. I also decided that I could no longer stand the pair of cycling capris that slither down my butt. Half mast would have been something to think about, but they were down to one third mast!!! I am sick of tugging.
My bib shorts come in time for next weekend. I will give a report, because they are not ideal gear for porta pottties. Just saying. But I am so over tugging. BTW - the running tights I just put on are in a similar fabric and slitheriness and stay up just fine because they have a waist elastic.
I am fine on socks now that I gathered all of them in one place.
I have a cancer walk tomorrow, and spent much of today preparing for it, including final lists of participants and getting credit card machines ready. I almost forgot cash, but fortunately remembered when I pulled out my wallet at the farmer's market. Even better that I remembered in time to make the bank prior to it closing
Off for a run as just ran out of day before I could fit in a ride..... - Claire

Hi Ladies - I hope to run a half marathon tomorrow (the weather prediction is storms) boo. This may be my last big run for awhile. Chemo probably starting in the next couple of weeks. I hope t do as well as all of you (staying physical) when I start

Welcome DogMom! Good luck with your run. Let us know how it goes. Because you are fit and have the athlete's mentality, even if you need to slow down during treatment, you'll get back to it once you're done!
So far today I have 13,000 steps, all from dog walking!

I walked dogs for an hour this morning. DH took them out this afternoon & I will again this evening. I just got home from an outdoor yoga class. Ahhh! Wonderful!

ruth- congratulations. Spring has finally arrived for you. I went to a friend's 98 birthday party last night. It lasted until 1:30 am. Miss Monica was the belle of the ball. She danced all night and had a wonderful time with family and friends. Other than a mild hearing deficit, she functions at a very high level both physically and cognitively. She is a delight. I was exhausted because I had spent five to six hours decorating for her party. Today I worked half a day and then went to the Opera. I was able to enjoy a beautiful performance of Werther. Unfortunately the thunderstorms came afterwards so no running for me today. I think I'm going to avoid the treadmill also because the lightning is very bad. Tomorrow will be a new day. Tonight it'll be the balance ball and resistance bands.
Dogmom- you are fit and athletic. You're going to do great. When you do have those bad moments or days, we will all be here to support you.

Jo, it sounds like Miss Monica is going to reach her 100th birthday too.
Lilac it looks like you had a lovely, and heathy vacation. I am hoping to find work life balance someday!
Welcome dogmom. If chemo sidelines you a bit, you will recover afterward.
I did landscaping boot camp and lawn mowing this weekend. The weather was nice both days after mucho rain so I got my front and back yard mowed on Saturday and dugup and moved two bushes, some daylillies, hostas and irises and weeded on Sunday.

Hung a couple loads of laundry outside since it was a gorgeous day

Zumba and three long dog walks!

Keeping with the exercise theme, I regularly hang laundry (but not sheets and towels) from the wheels of my spare bicycle which is hanging on my deck. Saves on clothes much more than electricity.
Got in a run after a busy weekend that did not include nearly enough saddle time. I paid for it in restless sleep.
Listening to jazz prior to turning in. Need to chill prior to the remainder of this week. - Claire

Zumba yesterday and dogwalking this morning.

Hi to everyone. I survived the half on Sunday. It rained the whole time, at times it was a downpour. I went out too fast early (comedy of errors - was using the bathroom when the race started. My thighs hurt and I'm shuffling along like a 90 year old, but I'm glad I did it. ) I have made sure to dog walk at least twice a day and hope to get in a run sometime next week.
