Ran errand and took a brief but nice walk, it was quite gorgeous outside today. Has anyone ever felt how exercise can brighten their mood? I felt like that today. I feel my Lupron wearing off somewhat...hoping for a nice uptick in my energy.

It's beautiful here too. I did yardwork this morning. This afternoon, DS, GF & the dogs came over for a picnic and games in our newly fenced in backyard (which we love!) The whole herd of us also took a walk. Tired tonight. I'm at 18,000 steps and the dog is passed out on the floor!

Good morning, up early to catch my flight home. Yesterday was beautiful here in Nashville too--sunny, 80F and NO humidity. That sunshine will need to carry me over for a bit as it's still all rain and gloom in Kansas City.

I've had a great visit and I'm ready to go home.

We have 2 more days of nice weather & then we go into the furnace. The forecast says it will be 100 on Saturday....one week ago, I was covering my plants as the temperature dipped below freezing. Good Grief!

Dog walking & I hope to get to both Barre Sculpt & Yoga later today.

    90s here this weekend

Back from my weekend adventure of helping out in the vineyard and tasting room. My new air pad works great which meant that I slept like a log and completely recovered from the Ordeal of May. I also got in a hike two days ago and a vineyard walk yesterday before heading home. Alas, I couldn't stay and float the Yakima river.

Lots of exercise as I was taping up and stacking boxes in the wine bottling and labeling operation. Think about 80 boxes altogether. Then I helped out at the tasting room restocking wine, emptying trash, bussing tables and the like. Again a lot of lifting and moving wine. Did I mention, lots and lots of walking?

Some pictures. Now back to reality. - Claire

One of my favorite plants. Yarrow. It's very drought-resistant as it flourishes in the canyon.

Claire: Always love your pictures! Agreed, these are gorgeous. You're fortunate to be able to participate at the vineyard.

I've caught up on all the posts since I was last on. Sending good vibes to everyone. This Sunday I hosted an outside baby shower for my nephew and his wife. They didn't stay long bc she is not yet vaccinated. She is waiting until after the baby is born in July. We all wore masks and social distanced while they were here. 12 family members were here for the shower and they stayed for lunch. Luckily the weather was cloudy and cool - prefect for an outside party on the deck. Like many families, this is the first time we had all been together since Christmas 2019. It was wonderful!

Been mowing, walking, and getting the house and yard ready for the party.

    Claire_in_Seattle: wow, love your photos!

Gorgeous day here in New Mexico after a hard rain last evening. Morning qigong followed by 3 dog walks interpersed throughout the day.

Need to work some cardio back into my day, but haven't figured out the "when" yet.

I'm on about my second week of resuming light free weights at home, streaming an old Jillian Michaels DVD on Amazon. I selectively opt out of a few segments because they gave me sciatica last summer - :-( I'm determined to increase my muscle mass between weights and upping my protein intake. I'm doing weights 2x/week and my elliptical 2x/week. If I get too tired, I will reduce my elliptical frequency because in my case, I feel that the muscle mass is more important. I'm hoping a local gym will offer some good classes in the future so I get some variety.

    Love ALL the photos!

I have been a little bit more of a slacker the last couple of weeks. Just really low energy (and trying not to worry to much about that -- but have appt with my oncologist next week). I have done a wee bit of hiking, a couple rowing sessions a week, no biking. We did go up to the White Mountains for a few days a couple weeks ago and hiked there -- my balance is improving!!!!

Trying to get back on track. I am happy that last night I passed 500,000 meters of rowing since I started tracking late November (on water rowing supposed to start next week -- that is a bit harder to track but waaaaaaaay more fun!). And I had my personal training this morning at 5:30. I know I am getting stronger, but it is frustratingly slow. My trainer did a Murph Challenge for memorial day (1 mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups and 300 squats followed by another mile run) so was super sore and only did part of the work out with me. I was inspired and decided I woudl try to do 25 squats every hour at work. HA! OK, need to work on my squat stamina :) But maybe if over the next week I do 10 or 15 an hour and build up from there it will be a good goal :)

We are going to have a rainy but pleasant day tomorrow followed by WICKED HEAT! Seriously, day after day in the 90s. Not only are we not used to that, our houses are built to retain heat! So any outdoor activities will be early morning and/or on/in cool water :) I am not built for heat (and the AI doesn't help!)

I hope everyone has a lovely evening and a great day tomorrow!

Welcome, PAKNC. I really like the variety I get in classes. Plus they make strength building/toning less boring.

Yeslama, we are getting that same wicked heat as well (but without the rain so I am jealous!). I am signed up for a charity 5K on Saturday and the temperature is supposed to be 100! SickTired

How is it my northern tier neighbors are getting all that heat? We'll be in the 80s a bit this week and then--you guessed it--rain/thunderstorms return. I live in Kansas, for pete's sake. It's supposed to be sunny and warm in June.

Love all the pix! Thanks Claire and HeidiHill for taking us virtually on your travels. :-)

Welcome PAKNC and thanks Jinx for the links.

I'm enjoying the last of the spring-like weather. It was "seasonable and pleasant" the past couple days (in the mid 70s), "warm" today (in the mid 80s), "very warm" tomorrow (in the high 80s), and "hot and humid" for Sat & Sun (in the 90s). Did another greenhouse run for some annuals to fill in the bare patches. Got those in and sowed seeds for some giant sunflowers. Now have to keep everything watered as we're not expecting any rain for another week. I finally purchased a garden kneeler to spare my creaky knees while weeding.

I skipped my morning exercise class to water the above flowers plus all the flowers, veggies & berries in the ground. I want to keep them alive during the upcoming hot days! After watering, Barre Sculpt & Dance2fit tonight.

I am enjoying these vicarious travel experiences! Thanks, people!

I finally got to see my physical therapist yesterday, and she is setting me back on the path to fitness. I did my old plus my new PT exercises today, and then did moth's workout playlist for a half hour, plus stretched afterwards. I didn't want to...like, I really didn't want to, but I feel good that I did it, so hurrah!

Stacy, I took a notebook and wrote 'Week 1' on the top of the first page. I then put '15' (minutes) down the page until they added up to the amount of exercise I felt I needed to do in the week. I checked off those 15 minutes as I got them. If I walked for an hour, I could check off 4 sections. If I biked from 30 minutes, I'd check off two. If I didn't feel like exercising; well, you can stand doing anything for 15 minutes. Sometimes it really is a mental game.

I am meeting a friend for an early morning walk. It's 7 am and already 77 degrees. Yoga later.

Stacy, what helped me was to think of working out the same way I think of flossing and brushing my teeth. I don't skip those, they're important to my health, and in the same way, so is working out. Motivation, frankly, comes and goes. It's more about discipline which is to me pretty different. I don't always feel like working out but I do it anyway.

    Does that make sense?

Pretty flowers, Ruth. Wasn't it just last week you were bringing pots into the garage and covering plants to keep them from freezing?

I'm enjoying a really nice morning. Walked early. Tomorrow it gets hot & humid, which I dislike.

Stacy, I started a walking program during chemo and bought a cheap pedometer to keep track of distance walked. To stay motivated, I started at 100 and counted down instead of starting at zero and counting up. Once I reached 100 miles, I set a new goal of 500 miles and started counting up. My "theme song" was I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers.

Like saltmarsh, there were days I didn't wanna but felt good once I did. Great advice to start with 15 minutes. You may find that you can do more once you get going.

Well the rain stopped here long enough for the grass to dry so I could cut the lawn. Took a half hour but its done, it really needed it.
