Hi Everyone. Haven't posted in a while but have been trying to keep up to date. Finding that is next to impossible. Work is getting crazy busy and there is little time for me to sit down and get on the computer. Hope everyone is doing well. For those still waiting for results or still in treatment, hope everything turns out good. Sending hugs out to everyone.

Happy Birthday Grannydukes and Congrats on the new bundle of joy in the family.. So glad to see happy news.
Ladies - THANK YOU!!! I can't explain it but I have NO tolerance for the Happy Birthday commercials since my diagnosis. The pink explosion of crap is bad enough but those stupid commercials really irritate me and I just can't explain why.
As for the drinking results survey, total crap! I rarely drink (maybe a beverage once or twice a year prior to this) so we see how well that worked. Starting to think maybe if I drank more...ha ha
SherryC - Praying things go well tomorrow. You sure have had enough crap lately so surely only smooth sailing for awhile, right? Hugs
Good night to all my Stage One Sisters

Sheila, I have a feeling that pink will ooze even further out of October ...mainly because there is commercial money to be made. I can't wear pink anymore.
I have my first rads consult tomorrow (Thurs) and I guess I am glad it is here. I do have a lot of anxiety, but am determined to find a way to get through. I wish they'd have a tv or video screen to watch. :-P [Is that asking too much?] I know treatments are short; but not easy with anxiety and allergies. I will have a 2nd opinion for rads in the 2nd medical center where I saw the new M.O.
I feel so much more positive since my appointment with the 2nd M.O. (thanks to all who encouraged this)
More ((((Sherry)))) as you go to your appointment.
Wishing everyone a restful night's sleep.Joan

Seyla, Your smiley avatar surprised me today!
Happy B-Day grannydukes, a day late. I was just reading about your most special Hallowen treat this year...Congrats!
Here's my little rant:
We've all come across talk, articles and threads on here about changing diet and lifestyle since getting a B/C diagnosis. Well, maybe I am just stubborn or lazy or both, but I haven't hopped on the bandwagon on all that change.
First of all, the only risk factors I had were kids at a later age and taking BC pills for some years. Well, that's in the past, so I can't change those risk factors now.
I'm fit and at a healthy weight, but I cannot afford the cost of a 100% organic lifestyle. Should I change my diet because of studies out now, that could be reversed in a couple more years when another costly study is done on the same nonsense? (How many times has caffiene gone from good-bad-good-bad? I've lost track!) What should I eat this week?
So, second, not knowing what brought on my B/C, should I just guess what needs to be changed? That does not make sense to me.
Third, radiation (the kind from our treatments and all those mammos) is known to cause cancer, well, the mutation of cells anyway. I don't see anyone in a big rush to change that part of our lifestyles. Everytime I go for mammo (and the squisher broke my blood vessels the last two times on my treatment side) and then they need "extra views" with more radiation bombardment, I wonder if I am doing more harm than good. And this they tell me I need.
Love how B/C brought its own special confusion into my life.

Elimar....Nice to see you. My avatar will change later it's just that I was having problems how to change it. I did it so many times before. Someone on the boards tell me what to do and the first picture popped I posted it.
Today will be a calmer day.

elimar....I had my coffee so I'm more alert.
What we did in the past and whatever caused our BC is in the past.
I'm more interested about new treatments that will wipe out this disease forever something in the past.
Dont you feel like paparazzi is following every step we take.
Talk is cheap. We want action not the amount of caffeine I consumed when I had a cup of coffee.
I can't live like that.
Sun was the biggest enemy for cancer now they want you to expose yourself to sun to get more Vitamin D.
Well I want all the researchers to make up their minds. Yes sun or no sun
The only thing was exciting for my situation was HERCEPTIN when they approved for early stage BC. That was the same month or month later I was DX yes I was one of the first patients getting it.
OK ranting is over for now. If BC will strike it will no matter what your life style was.
Sheila
PS; I changed my avatar

Well...I live in Canada and work indoors...I am going to continue to take 4000 ius of Vitamin D a day..I have had my blood work done two times since May and both times it came in as 'normal' which means, clearly, that 4000 is not too much for me! My naturopath and Gp said take 2000....nope. not doing it.
like many of you here, I have no idea what caused my cancer. I eat well, exercize, don't smoke, rarely drink, don't eat a lot of crap etc. etc....was the cell tower that was put up practically in my backyard a factor? I have no idea...I have had about 6 mammograms in my life...was that the cause? fillings? birth control I was on in my youth and into my early 40's...(ex- dr. said I could be on it until menopause without ANY problems...really?) I have no idea what caused my breastcancer...it is random and nothing I did as far as I can tell...stress of a partner leaving and grieving? my wire bras to keep my DD's where I would like them to be? no idea....just know I had it, it is gone and I am doing my best to carry on and hope it does not regroup and appear again.
Sheila...you are allowed to rant and roar. If not here, then where?
night all..hugs to everyone of you brave souls!

about the 'diet'
I had an appointment with the cancer center nutritionist today. I do not have any obvious issues that could be caused by diet. This appointment came about mainly because I asked my old M.O.'s NP if there were any foods or drugs I should avoid with Arimidex; she said "would you like to make an appt. with the nutritionist?" So, obviously she didn't know. And my M.O. has not spoken to me since she called me with my oncotype score. All communication was through her NP.Back to the nutritionist - she said there is no conclusive study on most food in our western diets...i.e. foods that contain estrogen. The only food she mentioned was soy - that it contains a high amount of estrogen and that if you aren't eating it, don't take in excess. That was her theme - moderation. I can live with that. I learned about Vit. D - mine was only 300 - but no conclusive studies yet; just a correlation between low D and BC. Calcium rich foods or supplements are recommended during AI therapy. Nothing special, so I agree with y'all. Guess we can eat, love, pray.
Cause of cancer? I refuse to think about that...just want to stay ca free. Like we all want to do.

Sheila- thanks for the links; I will check them out.

Hi Joan.......If you are on any RX drugs check the interactions between Arimidex if there is any.
I was on Femara for 5 years and there was no interactions with any of the RX I take.
Maybe my wonderful ex caused my BC.

Seyla, Yes, thanks for the latest on Vit. D. I kind of figured that was one of those "flavor of the month" things, popular until it turns out to not be particularly helpful. My sleep has improved on it, at least. (That's good, because how many Law & Order reruns can I watch at 3:00 a.m.?)
