Sue ~ I love it!!!!  Too funny! Considering you are supposed to start out with the band set at the loosest setting ..and move it tighter as it wears/stretches... sounds like you are def a 30DD! ...side note:  How do you get a more private FB page?  Or do you have two?  Though I'm almost TOO open about my BC.. I haven't really "publicly" talked about it on FB.  Though I guess I did post my Susan G Komen 5K pic on there.... you'd have to be pretty clueless to not put 2 and 2 together considering I was wearing a SURVIVOR t-shirt! lol!

Susan OH youd be GREAT in the Military with your OPSEC (Operation Security....we are told to vary our route, not be predictable and wear clothing to blend into our foreign surroundings when we live overseas)...LOL

I dont discuss BC on FB either. But I do talk about BC awareness and stuff like that.  About 1/3 of my FB friends know anyway and another 1/3 dont get to see my statuses and photos.

I think in Chantelle I AM a 30DD.  I would die if it were true....yep - got my happy B's here!  LOL

Well, I I dont think I LOOK like a D at ALL.....I told one of my friends today that I still have the smallest boobs in the neighborhood.  Darn.

Sue -- look on Ebay for that Simone -- I bet you can find it for $30 instead of $90.

And yeah LOL I thought DD was a reference to the boobs too.

SuebeeBC - I have a 13 year old daughter as well.  Last year I found her some great bras at the Nordstrom girls dept and they weren't too expensive.  This week I also found an underwire but no pad or push-up bra in the Target bra dept in a lot of pretty colors.  I think she is a 32B at this point but they also had 32A.  Last year I found a bunch of starter bras in the Target girls dept.  Good luck!  (and no way is my girl going to wear a padded push-up bra at 13!!!)

Thanks for the tips!!!  I think its horrible how much padding is in stuff....I didnt notice before that her swimsuit has foam (albeit thin) inserts!!!

Sue - I'm with Susan & MBJ - totally thinking you were referring to DD's :-)!!!!! Well, sounds like you still might have 'em if you move to the 30 band, I shoulda given you my 32 DD Chantelle to try on at lunch that day Tongue out ...then you might have known for sure!!! LOL! ...I cannot wait to catch up on the details!

...funny, my fb is pretty "non BC", too...just seems that I haven't shared it there, but I am thinking about doing a walk soon, and it might "creep" out then, I think it was easier during all the surgery stuff to not bring it into the whole "social network" -stuff for me, (personally) but it might be time to cross that bridge...

SueBee, your FB status cracked me up!  Not to mention the OPSEC comment!  I've been somewhat open on FB -- mentioned my mastectomy, chemo...and then I ran a 5K near the end of chemo, and one of my FB friends posted the only publicly circulating photo of me with no hair!  So I'm "out," LOL!  As a result, I've been lucky to get wonderful support from friends I haven't seen in a very long time (you know how military life is!!).  I recently updated my profile with my post-chemo, post-wig hair, and today's status is:  "Have moved through the Kojak phase and the Sinead O'Connor phase...now a little closer to the Annie Lennox look."   (However, I do need to learn to hide status updates from a few people!)

Hope you guys are all doing well. I hope to spend a little more time here in the near future, but it's a busy time (when is it ever NOT a busy time?!).  So hard to juggle work and life and upcoming travel plans (and French class to prep for trip) and marathon training (and physical therapy to treat running injuries) and also stay up to speed on BCO.  Oh, and ongoing struggle in my head with my reconstruction and what, if anything, to do about it.  More to come...maybe I'll get some time this weekend.  I love coming here and "seeing" you all and being able to talk about things that no one else I know would understand!

Hey, cittykity!  Great to have you pop by!  Wonderful news that you're running and training for that marathon while still dealing with recon issues.  It's amazing what we can juggle, isn't it?  Feel free to come chat if you want to!

Cameron - Matilda will be coming to Texas......hope she likes it hot.....

birdlady - Hi, there!  We joke around here a lot, but I guarantee that ALL of us have found bras uncomfortable, especially in the first few months post-exchage.  Some of us just deal with it and eventually embrace bras for their role in our BC recovery; some can't tolerate them and just say "screw it."  If there's anything we can help you with, please ask; more than likely, somebody's been exactly where you are and can offer some advice.

Sue - Great bras, my dear!  I posted on your thread and on Lilah's bra thread, so check them out.  And amazingly.....not really, lol....I suggested there that you might indeed be a 30DD.......please consider my suggestion and PM me......

Kristinka and Sue - did y'all see the bit on the news today (or maybe yesterday) about the company creating decidedly sexy lingerie for preteen/young teen girls?  I'm so glad I had boys.....

Val - PM sent!  Im a little surprised the fitter didnt bring me a 30 after her comment about a 32 being the largest size I should be in!  She put me in a Chantelle 32D for 'size' and it was soft cup - I really dont like the soft cups yet because of the two different shapes of my breasts...and no nip...It makes the difference obvious in a more fitted top.

I saw the lingerie bit on the news!  My DD (NOT double D's!) and I have a LOT of conversations about the padded bras in the stores these days.  No WONDER everyone around her seems to be growing rapidly!  Its the bras!!!

CityKitty - I like your clever statuses too!  :)  Youre right things are so busy!  enjoy the trip!

Megan - I am kind of surprised bra swapping wasnt involved!  LOL!!!

Birdlady -- sometimes certain bras can hit me funny and be uncomfortable (usually if the band doesn't fit around my sides right -- I think on the side where I had the SNB the shape is a little funny because of the removed bits and so yes, certain bras will be uncomfortable because of how the band hits that side of my body).  Why do you ask about uncomfortable bras?  Are you having trouble finding comfort?

Happy Monday, ladies!  Just wanted to let y'all know that this week I'm extra busy!  Traveling to take #2 son back to college in Chicago, and squeezing in a quick visit with my parents, which hopefully includes cooler weather than here!  My destination does not have internet and cell service is sketchy at best, so I may be out of pocket til next week.  I know y'all will look after each other and any newbie who ventures over here!

Take care and just behave, okay?Wink

I've been gone for a few days and came home to packages of bras!  Laughing  I've posted some pics on the pic forum.

For all you Freya lovers ... I've found two that are FABULOUS if you haven't tried them:

    Freya Caroline 4571

    Freya Jessica 4151

I DON'T recommend Freya "Keisha" 4882.  She's big in the band and way big in the cup.  Does not work for me at all.  Made for natural breasts with a ton of projection.

Val -- LOL we will try to be good, I am sure :)  You have fun!

Dawne -- Oooo!!!  I am on my way to look.  I don't think I've seen either one of those (and thanks for the heads up on Keisha, I think I did see that one and was thinking about it).

OK, I was loving the Modern Movement soft cup bra, but now that it has been HAND WASHED and Lined Dry, the band is starting to roll up at the bottom on the front!  What does this mean?  Is the band too tight, too loose, what am I doing wrong?

  • Estel
    Estel Member Posts: 2,780

val61- Behave?  We can't promise to behave ... but we promise to look out for one another and help any newbies!  WinkLaughing

Prayers for a safe journey ... that's a tough one.  I was in Chicago-land last week and it was nice weather-wise.  Hopefully it will stay nice.  Prayers for a safe & blessed journey!  xo

westieluv - I'm having a hard time understanding what "the band is starting to roll up at the bottom on the front" means and looks like.

Is it a quality issue?  A size issue?  Or something that is just because it has been line dried and will smooth out once you wear it and the material softens up?

    Lilah Member Posts: 2,631

Westieluv -- not sure either.  Did you try putting it on again?  Or perhaps: an iron?

Dawn -- LOVE those new bras you got!  Emboldened by your harvest, I have ordered a few from Lembrassa -- one called Trudie Ice (SO pretty -- a black base with blue touches) and one by Fantasie (hope I don't regret it) called Faith Silver (it looks a LOT like a Freya bra... not surprising since Fantasie is made by Freya).  Oh well... now I wait for my shipment from the UK.  Oh how I wish I had a nice tiny band size likes yours ... so that I could really dig into the sales!  The prices I got were pretty good but NOT $15 a bra!  Still, they are both bras I have not seen anywhere else so I snapped them up.  Stay tuned!

Lilah - Yay!!!  I ordered the last two shipments around the time the London riots broke out so it may have delayed my shipment.  But I still think they got here at less than two weeks.  I've seen some really pretty Fantasie bras on the UK sites ... can't wait to see them!  Laughing

If they don't work, you can always sell them on ebay!  Wink

LOL Dawne -- that's what I was thinking!  (Ebay)

Also -- new avatar is more current (from June) -- I think you can see how my hair has grown!

Oh and Val -- love YOUR new avatar!  Freyas!

    Beth,

I don't think you are doing anything wrong with your new bra.  The band around the base should lie flat and not curl up.  It's defective or a bad style.

You need that band to stay flat to provide a base support for the cups.

I just throw my Brelei bras  ( $50 each) in the general laundry and they often get tossed in the dryer too if I forget they are there.  I have had the same ones for three years as I was lucky they fit perfectly after I got the implants and they look as good as the day I bought them.

  • Lilah
    Lilah Member Posts: 2,631

I too just throw my bras into the washer (it's a front loader, so is gentle) -- though I air dry after (never put in the dryer).

The curling could be a result of some stretching that took place while you wrote the bra, Beth... and with all due respect to Debbie, it may just be an anomaly of that design.  I don't know.  I have had bras that curled... usually sports bras that have longer (wider) lower bands.

You all are giving me bra envy.  Maybe I would like wearing a bra  and do so more often if they were pretty.  All I have is plain black or beige.  No lace, no pattern.  All the same brand and style. Serviceable.

Usually I just wear camisoles, and again, plain cotton or silk.

They sure aren't sexy and I've never had a set where the bra  or camisole and panties  match.

Worse is I like to sleep in men's cotton boxer shorts with a silk tank top - no wonder I can't interest my DH?

ARE the sales ladies nice and understand when you go to try bras on?  I've never let anyone see how my new foobs look, not even DH.  Without nipples I think I look like an aged Barbie doll.

    Boring me.

Debbie -- they have specially trained sales girls at Nordstrom's (who actually are sent to a training for how to fit women who've had reconstruction).  If you want to go see one of them, call ahead and request that you get the specialist.  It is definitely fun to wear bras when they are pretty and sexy!  As for the nipples... are you planning to do something?  Tattoos?  You should not feel like you can't show your husband.  You are beautiful!  (I love that pic of you and your dog btw).

Heyyyyy now, I'd outright OWN the name Barbie Doll.  Be proud!

Barbie's better than plain ol' vanilla yogurt "natural".  I'll take it 7 days a week, baby.

Besides, Barbie gets ALL the clothes, a convertible, AND the dreamhouse...where do I go to claim my prizes...hmmm.

I rewashed the bra (handwashed) and it is line drying now.  If I wear it again and the lower band rolls up in the front again, then I am looking for another bra.  I thought maybe the straps were too loose or something but that's not the case.  Maybe it just isn't the bra for my foobs?

  • justagirl
    justagirl Member Posts: 633

Cameron, Barbie Doll gets Ken too!  I get a pat on the head from my husband!

Lilah - you are too sweet!  My dog Jaki is my best friend.  When this picture was to be taken she wasn't happy until I was trying to hold all 60 pounds of her.

Beth, Maybe the lower band isn't constructed right?  It should lie flat against your chest wall. I asked a friend who orders all the bras for a Myers (big department store here) and she said the chest band shouldn't be doing that unless its mainly elastic, is stretched and worn out.  Hmmm.  Does it fit your foobs well and is it comfortable?
