2010 Sisters

Hi to all my 2010 sisters! Been a while since I've checked in. Got wrapped up with chemo and just finished 38 rads on Wednesday. WOOHOO! Was a challenge to keep up with my 3 rambunctious boys, but everything worked out. I'm so proud of all of us Can't wait for my recon in 6 months. For now, it's just time to heal and get back to work in the next month. Will be nice to feel somewhat "normal" again. Finding it a little difficult now that I'm done with treatment to keep my anxiety down. Now that I don't have someone looking at me everyday, it's nothing but constant worry on my part. Have to adjust and learn to take it all day by day. Keeping every one of you in my continuous thoughts and prayers. Xoxo

Picked up my prescription for Arimidex today. I will start taking it next week...think I need a week off from everything and the Dr. said that was ok...how many of you are taking that drug? Do you take it at night or morning?

GrannyD you are so cool. I'm praying for a vaccine also. I would gladly volunteer for a vaccine trial. One of these days someone is going to come up with something clever.
Glad for all of the ladies who finished rads, its a different feeling being near the end of active treatment, Jalsmama. I went through the same thing with feeling a little anxious and insecure not being seen so often. It may work out that you see your surgeon, the rad onc, and the med onc quarterly for the first year. If you can schedule those appointment staggered a little bit, you can actually see a doc about every month or every other month. Getting this reassurance really helps me. If you throw your GP in the mix, then you can get seen even more often. After a few months this anxiety will wear off some. I'm just starting to feel like I don't need to see a doctor every month, and I'm about 6 months out from radiation. So it will get better. I have a friend who is having chemo in the same place I did, so I try to go visit her when she is having her treatments (and I get to say hi to the nurses) and I think this helps. It is such an intensely physical and emotional experience that it is no surprise there is a little "withdrawal" problem when we are done with active treatment. Maybe it's just me.
Barbara, did you get your afternoon off by the pool?
Hugs to everyone!

Hi, Shel! No, I ended up helping my father's wife with her printer then settled in to watch HGTV all night.0

morning- i totally flaked out last night as in LAZEEEE...my sis ter played games with me (another story for another day) so i am picking up my mom this morning...i won't get into that. Older son picked up younger son so i could have night to myself- full of plans...go to dinner with a friend..clean the house..try on old clothes...do work that is due..NADA...rolled around like a sow in mud:) Now I am scrambling to clean up the house before I go get mom-although she doesn't notice so much these days the clutter I have to...she raised me that way. God I love her...all I want to do is hang with her outside and see if I can get her in the pool...i bought a big gardenia plant yesterday (her fave) and hope she loves it...hope everyone has a great sunday

Dear Jalsmama/kallimom, so glad you are both done with your treatments and can now take a breath and get your bearings on your next step.
Annettek you are such a good daughter.
Barbara did you learn anything fun!

Jals and Kaiimon Woohoo on finishing treatment. Take some time to relax.

annattek - we all need a lazy day every now and then. Since I finished my rad treatments I have had a lot of them and now I am ready to get out and start doing things, but I still get tired so quickly.
BarbaraA - are you getting any time to rest while you are in Atlanta or is it all work. Glad you got to see the aquarium there. They have some amazing sea life.
I am enjoying a beautiful day on my back porch watching all the birds and animals that visit the pond. I have been out here most of the day and it is time to head inside before my laptop battery dies completely. I'll go recharge and catch you later.

Thanks gals BUT I screwed up both my air and hotel reservation and made the return tonight. The hotel I could fix BUT the air will cost me 300.00+ so I asm leaving tonight. I can't blame chemo brain, just my CRS disease.

Barb - have a safe early trip home. Maybe you can get some rest tomorrow since you are going home early. Catch you later. BTW... I posted Marybe's email on the Spirited thread. It was just too funny not to share there.

amyjo - how are you feeling? Is your skin healing up from rads?0
-
Omaz - Thanks for asking, yes, my skin is almost completely healed not. Just have a couple of dry rough spots that I am still keeping soaked with lotion. No peeling or itchies, blisters or raw spots left. My biggest concern now is getting my stamina back to where I can at least go to the grocery store by myself and not have to rest before I get done. I have a lot of travel plans an I need to be able to make it through the airports on my own. How are you doing? Are you planning on coming to the reunion at Uncle Bill's the last week of September? I would love to be able to meet you there.

Hi amyjo - Where is Uncle Bill's? I am doing ok. My arm is getting better. The first cords that I got are almost gone, I have a new one but it isn't as upsetting because now I see that they can go away. The lymphedema seems to be doing alright as long as I wear my sleeve all day. And I finally started the tamoxifen.....and am not sure what to make of it! Sortof makes me feel like I am drinking caffienated coffee all day and night! I did have my first post chemo/rads mammo yesterday and they read it right away while I waited and it was ok - I don't go back for 6 months - sigh of relief!! How is Miss Daisy?0
-
Omaz - Unle Bill's is in Shell Knob, MO. The pretty cabin in on Table Rock Lake. For more information you can contact Marybe. It is her Uncle Bill's cabin that we will be using and it is large with plenty of room for all of us.
Daisy is doing fine, she has not hiddien my phone or keys in a while since I am staying home more now that rads are done. She loves all the attention.
I am so glad the cording in your arms is getting better. It is amazing how much easier things seem when we know what to expect. Keep wearing that sleeve to keep the LE in check. I have not heard of anyone describing tamoxifen as being like a caffienated coffee high. I bet you get a lot done after your treatments. Is there a crash after a couple of days? Glad the mammo came out ok for you. After I get my Aredia I used to be hyper for a couple of days then I would crash for about 3 days then I would be fine until the next month. Mine was from the steroids they were adding to keep me from getting sick. Once they cut that way back I just have the bone piains for about a week then it gets better. I go for an MRI in September. I am trying not to think about it until then. Since I had a BMX and now have inplants they will no longer do the mammograms so I ge the MRI.

AmyJo- I think we should write a play about your Daisy. Forget "Driving Miss Daisy", "Daisy's Driving AmyJo Crazy"! Okay, I think I have been on this computer too long, I'm getting silly! So glad you are resting and getting your strength back.
BarbaraA- I bet you are happy to be back home. Sounds like you just go, go, go when you are in the business mode.
Tomorrow our homeschool coop is sponsoring a SPLASH day. Over 100 kids rotating through about 20 different classes, everything from cake decorating to juggling. I'm teaching basic sewing skills. Someone has to save these NYC kids from spending $5 every time they need a button sewn on!
