Faithroad I am sure everything will go smoothly. I plan on seeing my BS in about six weeks to get prescription for prosthetics and make an appointment with my local boutique to get my measurements. I have not decided which route I want to go but glad there are lots of options. There are topics on prosthetics which I have found helpful. Keep me up to date.

I spent the day watching my "adopted" grandchildren play. I wish I had a small fraction of their energy. They are so sweet and always want grammie kisses when they see me.

Hi everyone!
Late to the game, but I was diagnosed in November 2010 - right after Thanksgiving. I had my lumpectomy and lymph node removal in December. I did fertility treatments in Jan/Feb. I started chemo in March. And I'm now in the middle of radiation. So far, so good.
It's been a long haul but I can almost see the finish line. Can't wait until I hit the five year mark.
Congratulations to those who've made their first year mark!

IllinoisNative - welcome to the group. Sorry you have to be here, but gald you found us. Just jump right on in and let us get to know you as you get to know us. There are a lot of wonderful women here to offer love, encouragement, advice and give support.
Thanks everyone for the comments on the kids. The oldest one, Bailey, is 9 and just earned her black belt in ty kon do (?sp?). The other 2 , Brenna and Bradley, are 6 yr old twins. They are the children of my DD#1 best friend and I have alway been a part of the kids lives since I have know their parents since before the kids were born. They are the closest thing to grandchildren without being related. I love them dearly and love to spoil them too. I am off to bed as soon as I finish reading everything that is going on around BCO. Hope everyone has a restful night.

mamachick - welcome to the best place for support, encouragement, and love. Does not matter whether you are early of later to the group, just jump right on in. We all need encouragement, advice and support no mater where we are in our journey thought this disease. You will find a lot of caring and funny ladies here to listen and laugh with.
mjb - how great you have a new driver. At least in TX there is a lot of wide open spaces. Seriously, it is nice that he can be there to help with the driving when you are not up to it. Even for things like trips to the grocery store.
GrannyD - nice to hear from you again. I have missed you. I had a lot of fun with the kids. They always manage to lift my spirits.

Welcome aboard to the new sistas! This is a great group in all stages of treatment and recovery. Sometimes it is just nice to be able to vent to others who know what you are going through.
MJB glad you are feeling better with the drains out, I remember those gross things.
AmyJo, those are cute pictures. Reminds me of when my kids were little.
Hope everyone else is having a better week than I am. So far, the roof has started leaking, we got my daughter's college tuition bill for fall (3 times more than last year) and my son's car broke down today. Oy! I must not be living right. DS hasn't found a summer job yet so I think he is going to learn how to roof and fix cars! AAACCCCKKKKKK!

shelley - so sorry when it rains it pours. If things really do come in 3s you are finished for a while as you already have you quota filled. Praying that the roof is fixed soon and your daughter can do some research and find some grants and scholarships to help with the tuition hikes and DS finds a summer job that will pay enough for him to get his car fixed. I think that about covers it, but I will add that you can keep your sanity while everything gets worked out. Tell you DD to look for all the small odd ball scholarships - those paid the way for my DD#1 to get through 4 years of college. (That and working at Chick-fil-A and JC Penneys)

mamchick welcome to the group. Jump right in ask questions or vent and whine if you need to . WE have all done it here and will be here for you.
Shelly it has been awful at my house as well. DH's truck A/C went out and it cost $2500 to get it fixed on top of I needed new tires and that was another $600. Don't think I'll be going anywhere this summer.

Shelley, I so hear ya. But AJ is right, bad stuff comes in threes so you are done.
Welcome mamchick. We are a little wacky but are always fun.

Illinois keep on the lotion
In the past year we have the a/c unit, microwave, stove/oven replaced and now need new matress and box springs. The fience needs to be replaced but am hopping for some high winds to blow it down to get the insurance to pay for it.
I am ok replacing things just not when the are over the $1k mark.0 -
Illinois - how many radiations treatments do you have left to go? I finished mine in mid-March and still trying to recover from the toll it took on me. I hope you get lots of time to rest and relax. Remember to keep using your creams.

Thanks guys! I've had about 12 treatments. I think they said I'd be done on July 16. I thought I just had to use the lotion after treatment since I didn't have any rashes yet. They explained to me that I should be using it 2 to 3 times a day, regardless. Duh. LOL!
Thanks for your help.

Illinois - use it often and liberally even after treatment ends you will still need to use it for min. 2 weeks, but better for 2 months. Keep us updated on how you are doing. and get as much rest as you can.

I finished the rads in Feb.im still using the Emu oil on that breast....I think ill be using it forever. Why not????is there any kind of time frame on when to stop or am I obsessing!!!!
This bc sure scared the crap out of me...

I finished rads the end of Jan and am still using Vitamin E cream or coconut oil on my skin. Trying very hard to keep it in good shape. My tissue is having a hard time healing so I am trying everything I can to keep the skin as soft as possible.
mjbmiller I have been praying for a hale storm for a couple of years so I can replace my roof. I live in a house that was built in 1884 and we have done so much work at restoring it that I just don't have the money for a new roof, God has not answered my prayer so I guess he does not think I need it yet. oh well we did patch the leaks so at least I don't have to use buckets.
