AmyJo-  Unfortunately, you are going to have to tell these dolts what you can and can not do, what is comfortable and what is not.  Jeez!  One would think they would be sensitive after working with cancer patients who have pain issues!  I have found that many of the medical staff who work with cancer patients seem to have a "cut off", detached type of personality.  Even my chemo nurse, though totally professional, were not overly warm.  I have the feeling that it is a way of emotionally dealing with really ill people, not getting too involved.  It is totally wrong, but it takes very special medical workers who can continue to care for each and every patient completely.  I am praying that you are surrounded by special medical angels as you go through these next treatments, my friend.

Thanks for all the hugs.  I am feeling better today.  I got a better nights sleep last night, probably because I had cried so much yesterday.  Today has been pretty much tear free.  I went to the onco to get some lab work done so they could tell if I would need a transfusion or whatever that shot they give when the white blood cell count is too low.  They all came back as low but still ok so that I do not need the shot or transfusion.  That was good news.  It is so cold and rainy today.  My DH has built a fire in the fireplace for me to get warm.  He is such a dear man, I still don't know why he wanted to marry me, but I am so thankful he did.

Hope everyone has a restful evening and is staying safe and warm.

    Joy and blessings, Amy Jo

AmyJo-  I know why he wanted to marry you!!  I bet he feels lucky!  Warm yourself in front of the fire, probably better therapy than most things.  Get strong for your next big push.

AmyJo- he wanted to marry you because he is a very SMART man:)

Thank you all, you are so very kind.  annattek, he really is smart, but I think I caught him in a dumb moment.  He had never been married before and I was a widow with 2 little girls when we got married.  I met him in November and we were married the following Feburary!  Talk about a whirlwind courtship.  My Dad told me to marry him whether I loved him or not, so I did.  And it has turned into the best thing that ever happened to me.  Designermom, I think you are right about the fire, DH made another one for me this morning since it is still so cold and damp.  He also put the tea kettle on while I was in the shower so that it would be ready for me to get my morning cup of tea when I was out.  Things like that are what let me know that he really does love me, no matter what life throws at us he will still be there.  I better stop all this mushy stuff or I will be crying again.

I think we will be going out for either a late lunch or an early dinner and then to look for shoes.  I need some new navy blue dress shoes.  Everyone take care and stay warm.  Barbara, can I come see you to enjoy some of your warm weather.

    Joy and blessings, Amy Jo

AJ you are welcome anytime. Plenty of non stop flights from Raleigh to TPA. Bring DH or plan to come when MaryBe comes! Any sister wanting a cheap vaca in FL just PM me. I have a real nice place to stay.

Here is the guest suite - sorry it's blurry. Outside the curtain is a covered patio then grass then the dock and marina.

This is the other side of the room.

BarbaraA-  You are killing me!  Just the thought of walking in sunshine is heaven.  The garbage bags from Christmas are still buried and frozen in the piles of snow here in NYC.  I wonder if this is ever going to thaw!  So far 60 inches of snow and more coming today.

Thanks BarbaraA, I will let DH know and we will look at our schedule. We will let you know.  It may be a while since I will be starting rads soon.  You are a dear sweet friend.

Oh Barbara!  How you tempt us all!  That is a beautiful guest suite you have!

Amyjo--You are blessed! What a wonderful man you have!  Mine is a keeper too :)

AmyJo: I did the same thing you did. I met my husband in May (almost June; it was May 27), we got engaged in July, moved in together in August and married in October. I was 52 and he was 50. By the time you are our age, why put it off? You know what you want, or at least I did.

Barb: You have a beautiful home. They are predicting more snow for us next week. I'm in Alabama for Pete's sake! This is getting ridiculous.

Well they are predicting more snow for us here in Raleigh, NC on Thursday! I love snow, but I am ready for Spring.  This much snow and freezing weather is not supposed to happen in NC!  Looks like I may be navigating the roads in ice and slush on Friday for my Aredia IV.  I keep telling myself, "Spirng in coming, Spring Is Coming, SPRING IS COMING"  Just wish it would come soon.

LadyinBama - When I got married to my DH he was 36 and I was 31.  And I had two little girls 9 and 6.  Now everyone thinks he is their natural father, he did adopt them the month after we were married.  He was so sweet about it he talked to the parents of my first husband to get their approval too.  If they had been boys there might have been a problem, but since they were girls it was not a big deal with them, but they seemed to adopt my DH as their new son after that.  Sure made things easier with that relationship.

Amyjo, they are predicting more snow here in the Dallas area for tonight and then again for Wed.  I am ready for spring time too. I have been blaming the superbowl for our cold weather this past week, but I will need another entity to blame this week. I hope we are not navigating through ice and snow for my final chemo on Tuesday.

beccad - here is praying for clear weather for traveling to you last chemo.  Yeah for you on being done with chemo.  What is next for you?  Will you be having any radiation?

Amyjo, I will be having surgery next, I think I have decided on reduction on the right, MX on the left w/ TE, then radiation, then complete the recon on the left.  I hope that I do not have to have more chemo, but the BS and MOnc are keeping that option open. We have to wait and see what the path report is from the surgery.  I AM READY FOR HAIR!!!  Oops, sorry to yell, I hope that I didn't wake anyone.

Hi all,  I am 12 days post surgery, feeling OK at this point, finally got my path report. There was change in the breast from the chemo. about a 2/3 reduction in overall size, between the two larger tumors. And my margins are all clear.  3 of the 16 nodes were involved with macro, in one and micro in the other? I need explanation on this.. Will def have rads, as soon as I am all healed. Starting tamoxifen on the 24th. Rads right around then. I don't have a schedule for the rads yet. Healing is going very well. No problems. Drains are staying in a few extra days as I change from Lovenox to Coumadin. And will be removed by my BS in clinic this thursday, I welcome ditching those annoying little hangers on!!  So ladies how bad is my next phase? Onco promised the worst is over is he telling me the GHT? I am appreciating these calm days for now!!  Hoping all of you are doing well and getting better!  Love to all...Kaz

{{{KAZ}}} Rads is a breeze compared to surgery and chemo. Fatigue may be an issue but just get lots of sleep. Naps help, too.
