I have a request gals. My brother went to the ER yesterday with what we though was pneumonia. Last night they did a CAT scan and he had a huge infected mass in his neck. He is in ICU unconscious, getting 3 anti biotics. He does have pneumonia but they are really worried about the infection. They think this infection is the flesh eating bacteria. Any and all prayers are greatly appreciated. He is a year younger than me. This whole thing is further complicated in that he has diabetes.0

Barbara will be praying for him for sure. Keep us posted.

redninrah - Congratulation fon being Cancer Free! Hope it last forever for you.
KAZ - Your should have relatively smooth sailing from now on. Just be sure to take care of your skin and get lots of rest. I take at least 2 naps a day and some days more. The fatigue will hit you all of a sudden so don't be surprised when you are feeling fine and then all of a sudden you are completely exhusted. I will be starting another round of radiation on the 14th or 15th of this month. I had a round of treatments back in late Nov.to early Dec. on my spine. This next round will be on both breast areas. I had a BMX with TEs and then in Jan. I had the TEs removed and the premanent implants put in.
Hope everyone is getting plenty of rest and is able to enjoy their days.

Grannydukes!! Congrats on being done! I hope it wasn't too hard on you--plan on just resting for a few days (no trips to rads--yay!), and keep moisturizing!
Barbara--I will definitely be praying for your brother! I understand the diabetes thing--my dd is diabetic. I hate diabetes almost as much as cancer!!
Kaz--I agree, rads is easy compared to chemo, but be prepared for the fatigue. It hit me near the end. Hope all is going well with your healing.

Thanks my sisters. I have to keep my mom hoping and the stress is really getting to me.

Kaz- Glad your surgery went well. Rads are a breeze in comparison to chemo. It is tedious and boring going every day. I only had a few moments of fatigue. I found it was not long-lasting, remedied by a short 15 minute nap. I am wondering about your starting on Tamoxifen. It sounds like you are on a blood thinner (Lovenox and Coumadin). Are you aware that Tamoxifen puts you at greater risk for blood clots? I have a dormant clotting condition, that is why my Onc was concerned with me taking Tamox. She wanted me to have a oopherectomy and go straight to AIs instead. I would definitely discuss it with them.
BarbaraA- Oh, dear girl! What a year you are having! First you, then Dad, now your brother! I will keep him in my prayers.

Thanks Granny. Oddly, he is in St Anthony's hospital. I will pray to him today as well. He is improved today; fever down, anti-biotics seem to be working. They may do additional surgery on the infection area today. May not know if it is flesh-eating bacteria for another 24-48 hours (waiting for cultures). Saw one doc today, lung guy. Liked him. He said if he doesn't have surgery they were going to try feeding him via NG tube. Still need to get my hands around the neck of the surgeon. Going back in mid PM.

Thanks, Omaz, GD and AJ. My mom just called after she spoke with his nurse and she said all the docs except the ENT had been in and all are pleased at his progress. Still need to throttle the cardio surgeon but I can't hang around there all day waiting for him to happen by. Sheesh. I got there at 8 in order to try to catch them but only met one by 11 and had to go do some work. Maybe tomorrow.

BarbaraA- I'm so glad your brother is responding to treatment. I wish I was there when you find the MIA cardio surgeon. Sounds like you are loaded for bear, as you should be!

Great news gals! Bro is much better today. They are going to wean him from the respirator tomorrow. Then he will be conscious (but still sedated for pain) and Mom can come visit. It would have freaked her out big time to see him on a respirator with wires and tubes coming out of him. Off to check on him in person.
