Great saying about depression

I'm not actually taking the time off....I'm using it to test my new job and still get commissions owing to me..... I'm trying to stall "quitting" because the second I quit the commissions owing are stopped. No one gets them. Not me!!0
-
Barbe, you have an angel looking over you shoulder, now no need to worry about gas money. Will they let you go on short term disability? If so that is a great plan, try one job out with a fall back position. And get to take some of your commision money, it just isn't fair that that revert back to the company. That is money owed to you for your sales expertise. Karen

Barbe: That would be against the law here! All jobs delivered that I sold were due to me whether I was still there or not.

Yah, well, call a cop.....sigh! I've heard it all, but it's pretty common in the furniture industry.

Well, so glad I spent some time reading through this thread again. It is just good to know that I am not the only one who had difficulty markiing that one year anniversary from DX. Yesterday was my one year cancerversary from DX and I had a rather difficult week. Just wasn't sure that it was anything to celebrate as I felt more like mourning my former life and thinking about how much I have gone through the past year. Had a few meltdowns and DH, who has been so wonderful through all this, just thought that I should be celebrating that I had survived it all. I am so glad that March 11 is now history, but I am afraid how I will be feeling about April 18th, the day of my BMX last year. I assume that each year anniversary will get easier.
Barbe... that is so unfair that you would not be able to collect commission due to you if you quit your former job. Arrrrgh!
Kate, I should have looked you up when I was in AZ last month. We spent a week with some friends who spend the winter there. She is a 13 year BC survivor. My DH works for AA and we get around standby but it is pretty tricky these days with the loads being so heavy.

that's total BS that you don't get paid for commissions earned in the past if you quit! sounds like being an indentured servant somewhat

It's a company rule, now I know why people work their 20 and 25 years! It's hard to walk away from what you've built up but is still undelivered. I feel that we should at LEAST get paid for the ones that the customer paid in full!! Some of them just have deposits on them. Fair enough, but still, if they've paid in full, then I should get paid in full!
0 -
Barbe: I only got paid when the order was complete, too. You don't have to call a cop, you can just file a formal complaint with the Labor Board stating how much they owe you, they have to cough up the money and then try to prove you wrong. (I used to work as a payroll manager and in human resources many lives ago). Especially if you are just working on commission only. BTW: Just because a company has a "rule" doesn't mean it's legal. I found out that the last company I worked for is required by law to reimburse me all of my travel expenses, and I was just writing them off every year. I got audited by the IRS and had to fight for 2 years to clear my name--companies do whatever they think they can get away with.0

Wow! Thanks for that info MBJ, I'm certainly going to look into it.

Yeah BARB!! You do have a little angel looking out for you! That's awesome timing! So glad it worked out for you. I hope you get that new job and they give you a big fat signing bonus so you don't have to fret about what you're leaving on the table...although I agree that sounds odd. I'd check into it for sure.
Now about my kitty...she does love her Charlie but he pins her down and sorta gnaws on her head...I do think at times she likes and sometimes she makes noise and she's clawed him a couple times but not often. there are times I have to lift him off of her cause he's a big boy. One day he jumped on me and sat on me and i swear I couldn't move. I finally had to bribe him with the promise of treats to get him off me. He thinks he's tiny. Also they are so funny together sliding around on my hardwood floors...you know like with kiddies they play and sometimes it ends up getting too rough and someone gets hurt. Charlie would never hurt Sadie on purpose but that doesn't ease my mind any. This weekend I had to work allllllllll weekend. I picked up another firm to work for and they've been filling up my time which is awesome but exhausting. Charlie went to doggie daycare all weekend and loved it. It was beautiful weekend here so he got lots of outside time. (my yard is a swamp from all the rain and snow) He's been smiling all weekend.
MBJ Sorry you aren't going to make it to AZ..I would love to sit and have a cocktail LIVE with all of you ladies!
Joan sorry you're feeling blue. I hope each year gets better and easier. A very good friend of mine is turning 40 a few days after my anniversary and we are talking about going to Italy...maybe a handsome Italian will help me through the next one
Sorry this was so long...I worked so much the last two weeks I have had very little personal conversations.
I hope everyone has a great week!!
Hugs to all that need one,
Di

Di, your story about your dog and cat reminded me of one of my friends pair of animals. She got a kitten who grew up around her sweet black lab. The lab liked to play with the kitten, slobber all over him- you could always tell when they'd been playing, cause the kitten's fur would be dried all stiff with dog slobber- EEWWW!!! They still played together when the cat was older and grown, occasionally his fur would still have crusty spots!

aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh, dog spit!! What a great breakfast topic....hehehehhe
Di, so good to hear from you, what an upbeat post! We get kinda worried when we don't hear from yah for a while, but then maybe you're feeling too good to post on this thread!!

joan- Your DH and mine sound very similar. When I was trying to explain my sadness at my "anniversary" he said I should just celebrate the fact I'm alive. I know he's right but it's hard to feel like you're "all better" now when I never felt sick in the first place. I guess it would be different for me if I felt horrible for months, discovered a tumor was making me feel that way, had it removed and then felt magically better. Instead I'm humming along feeling pretty darn good, they take the tumor out and now I feel like crud. Hard to get excited about that or feel the need to celebrate. My brain tells me I'm lucky they caught it early but my heart still feels like I was ambushed.
So, ladies, I see another job posting for flight attendant for an airline I never heard of (Ryan International). I'm tempted to go for it but so afraid I'll get rejected again and start looking for the nearest cliff to throw myself off of. (I live in Arizona so I could get to the Grand Canyon easily and really make a spectacle of myself! JK!) This time I would probably have to fly to Illinois for the interview and they said it could take up to a week to complete the process! Just not sure I'm up to it but I know my DH is counting on me to find a job so he can go out on disability.

Dear Kate, is that one of the smaller airlines that is consistently overworking their employees? We had a plane crash in Clarence N.Y.two years ago I think ( with my year off for cancer, I have trouble remembering time frames). After a federal investigation it was found that they rotated crews so that some of them were only getting a few hours of sleep before heading out again. Pilot error was blamed for the crash. They are supposed to assure crews enough down time between flights, but have been found out of compliance anyway. I'd hate to see you in a company like that. I know how you feel about anniversaries, they are just another reminder of the cancer, another reason to be scared of a recurrence. I don't feel like the looking over you sholder will ever go away. Karen

karen- That crash was Colgan Air. They are a small commuter airline. I think the commuters have different rules as far as crew rest than the ones that fly the larger planes. Also, commuter pilots and f/a's will usually have to do multiple flights in one day since they're kind of "puddle jumpers". The airline I'm considering flies larger planes. They're charter, not commuter and would be subject to the same FAA rules for crew rest as any of the major airlines. I found out today that I would probably be flying charters for the military, Department of Defense as well as some sports teams, etc. Might be kind of interesting.

Dear Kate, that sounds pretty neat. Certainly wouldn't get bored, lots of different (wow) people to work with. Sports' teams, huh Karen p.s. New Orlean's Saints by any chance? Go for it Kate

Alyad yes she is a wet kitty after playing with Charlie. I try to wipe it off her so she doesn't smell like his dog breath all day.
I have been feeling better like everyone else good day and bad. I have been super busy with work as tomorrow is a big deadline. I just have to keep working as much as possible until April 15th so only time to post is late night when I get home from work.
One of my co-workers wives is have a BMX tomorrow. I feel so sad for her cause their family has been through so much this past year. Their daughter had thyroid cancer and went through surgery and radiation just 4 months ago. Me and one of the other partners wives reached out to her but she said she is fine...I remember not wanting to talk to anyone either. I told her about this site and that I was there anytime she wanted to talk. Maybe in time she'll be among us.
Well Good night ladies...I am tired...this springing forward KILLS me.

Ugh! Spring forward my a#$@. I hate it. Just when I found a routine they go and change the time on me.
Di: Glad you are doing well and getting lots of work now. Cute story about your pets!
Barbe: Of course, I am talking about California Law but I would do some research to find out if you have any rights. You can also just call the labor board and ask. How did your husband's appointment go today?
Kate: You so cannot jump off of any cliff, especially since now you have a better job opportunity. This one sounds like way more fun and much more interesting then just a regular old flight attendant job and you have so much experience! Go for the interview and when I can travel again, I will come visit you on the way to the Grand Canyon!
Ladies, I am getting my nipple/areola tomorrow so I am staying up late to get one last meal in. My surgery was set for 11 am and now they moved it to 1 pm, so I am staying up and sleeping in and I hope my PS does a good job.

MBJ how exciting about getting your nipples today!!!! You must be thrilled. Don't be disappointed at first, they probably need time to settle.
Kate, your last interview was practice for something - maybe this new opportunity? They wouldn't want young 'kids' doing these flights as they would get caught up in the emotion (military) or celeb (sports) guys.
My DH's ultrasound was yesterday, so now we wait for results. As we were waiting for his turn, I went and did bloodwork from December and a shitload of x-rays, also from December requisitions!!! I've been carrying them around for months, but everytime I went to a clinic it was too full or too late. Whew! Another monkey off my back!

Kate I say go for the job. Some times you need to take a leap of faith but not off a cliff.
MJB good luck today
Barbie still rooting for ya, praying for good results for DH0 -
Kate!!! Yes now that sounds really great! And sounds interesting and fun. Also sounds like you would be treated with respect and that would be really nice!!! I say good you didn't get the other job. Sorry the interview is far away - where again? Wish it was in Atlanta then we could have fun while you went on the interview!
MJB- a few years ago I was worried I'd forget to switch the clocks so I asked my daughter to write a note for me and leave it in the kitchen. So I go downstairs and see the note spelled " Day Life Saying Time" I still kid her about it!
Oh Barb, gosh I now what you mean about monkeys on your back and how great it is to finally rid yourself of one or more! Hope the news is good for your husband. Anymore news on the new job ?
MJB- good luck on today's surgery. I had mine done and at first I was very happy then the nipples sort of sunk in and wasn't keen on the color and all. So went to the PS and either he makes sense or he is good at talking you into being OK with things but now I do feel better - nope not like my original but ok. Still thinking of going up to Ashville and seeing what that lady can do for me to make them more realistic and I still wish the nipples poked out a bit more but I can go braless without looking like a wet tee shirt contest still.... Hope yours go well and healing is easy. Mine was a lot easier than most I've read about -

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. Getting ready to go. Just hope it doesn't hurt too much, look too weird next to my natural one and that he gets it right.

So glad Arizona doesn't participate in the whole Daylight Savings thing. (Guess they figure we have enough daylight/sunshine.) Now if I could only get them to stop changing the days my trash gets picked up!
MBJ- GOOD LUCK TODAY!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully, this will be the last step in what has been a very long road. Hope all goes well and that soon you'll be "Nippy Yippee"!!!!
barbe- Hope your DH's US went well and you soon get some positive news. You are definitely overdue for some!!
stanzie- Love the "Day Life Saying Time"! Adorable! I have a journal that I have written down all the funny things my son has said ever since he started to talk. (Huh, nothing in there since the teen years started....) Anyway, it is so fun to read through it now. One day when he was about 3 he said, "Mama, you are so pretty!" I was feeling pretty good until later that day when we were driving down the road and he said, "Gas stations are so pretty!" I still laugh with him about that one!

It is a beautiful sunny day in WNY, temp. is 48. Got the windows open to air out the house, I wonder how many women in cold winter climates have S.A.D.. Just the difference in my mood today is so noticeable. I'm going to start writing on the computer about my godmother on the times I would usually talk to her to see if I ease up on the pain. That way, I'm kind of talking to her about things we would usually chat about. I hope it helps. Karen

MBJ hope your nip recon went well today!! Mine is next month and I am a little nervous about it. One of my friends was trying to schedule a get together and she happened to pick the date of my nip recon and I said I can't do that day I am having a procedure..and she says what's left...and I said " THE CHERRY ON THE SUNDAE!!" LOL. I feel like It's gonna be weird to have a nip on that side I am getting so used to only having one. Hope you are happy with your results!!
Have a good HUMP day everyone!

Hi everyone! Thought I would check in before taking my bedtime Vicodin. They did alot of fat grafting today and that is where I am sore and very bruised and swollen. Just found out I won't be showering for a week or more and the "hat" stays on for at least 2 weeks. I won't know until Monday when they change the bandages how it looks. I refused all sedatives until he drew on the location, lol! alot of measuring, moving, drawing, re-measuring. Hope he got it right. He also took a skin graft from my left side of my bikini area and that's bruised but not sore (yet). It's in a place where fabric should bother it and you can't see it if I wear a swimsuit or underwear, which is what I wanted. I have heard some have it taken from between the top of the crease of the thigh and the labia, and I was just "no way". Anyway, sore, bruised, and hopefully when al of the swelling goes down I will have less of a tummy and a new nipple. Good night ladies!

MBJ- Yahoo!!! Glad all went well. Hope when all the soreness and bruising goes away you will have perfect results for your "cherry on the top". Just curious, what was the fat grafting for? I've become a fat grafting investigator, lately, as I weigh my options.

Kate? Are you going to the job interview? You haven't let us know...
Loved the "pretty" story!!!
MBJ, glad it all went well!!

Ugh, I woke up at 5 am and there doesn't seem to be any sleep left in me. I wore my tummy control leggings to bed and it made the swelling where they took the fat go down quite a bit. I will be posting pic's soon.
Kate: What would you like to know about fat grafting? He used a tube through my belly button both times so there aren't any incisions, just bruising, and then he injected it all into the top part of my breast, which is where I have a step off. This area has an incision and bruising. Fat graft is good for a couple of things--getting rid of the step off, though it may take a few attempts for it to stay. The other thing its good for are women who have had radiation--it helps with preventing scar tissue when they do an exchange. I am hoping it gets rid of the "tummy pooch" I have permanently had since a surgery over 15 years ago. They gave me a tummy push up and it has been sticking out for years. I took pictures this morning (couldn't sleep) and as soon as I figure out how to download them from my phone I will post in the picture forum.
Are you going to go to the interview?
Barbe: Good luck today with your final interview--That's what today is, right?

DiDel: Well, I did get my cherry and I can't wait to see it! Won't know till Monday what my PS did, but the good news is this is one area on my body that doesn't hurt. The lipo area--ouch. Pretty bruised and loos like I was run over by a truck.
