Great saying about depression

Ladies now I'm really concerned.........................Is Tamox the only med that can cause depression of alal the BC hormones.............And does it cause depression in most...........I just said on another thread I have a prescription for Femara sitting on the table and have not had it filled yet.................I did read the SE, but don't remember depression in that one, although I skimmed through the Femara site quickly.
When does it end................I guess when they close the lid..............What the hell..............another pill I'm gonna need for the friggin pill they are giving me............Just the thought of that is depressing without taking Femara.

NatureLover - How about IL, Kendall County??? Close enough?? PM me for more details....

Duckyb1 - I was on Femara up until 6 months ago, I had been playing around with it off and on during the last year or so before surgeries, for me, depression was the culprit, as soon as I stopped it and now 6 months out, and no problems with my ONC, I'm 200% better off...many new life changes as well, but wow what a huge difference.

Kate: I think possibly the adrenal fatigue protocol I am doing might help you. This is what the clinician from Dr. Lam's site is having me do:
Drink 1/4 cup warm water with 1/2 tsp of Celtic Sea salt upon waking
Also, from SupplementClinic.com
1/2 tsp of Quantum by New Horizon with 1/4 tsp of NanoC (I also add Green Magma or Magma Plus by Green Foods-order on line google search) to 1 glass of water 2 x a day and then I take:
1 Iodoral tablet (iodine potasium supplement-don't take if you are Hyper-Thyroid)
4000 mg Vit d3/K1 by Designs for Health (2 in am 2 by 2 pm)
25 mg Pregnenolone (by Jarrow)
1 300 mg Pandrenal (by Pure Horizon) (1 in am 1 by 2 pm)
2 C-Support (by Pure Horizon-Supplement Clinic) (2 in am 2 by 2 pm)
5000 mcg Bioten (Solgar) (1 in am 2 in pm)
5 tablets Wobenzym N (on line) (5 x 3 day)
After I eat I take: 200 mg Selenium (Solgar), Juice Plus Supplements (this is just me), 1000 mg MSM. I also do this in the am and before 2 pm. Never take vitamins with minerals.
Diet:
1 cup of coffee (if you drink it, otherwise best to have none) a day in the a.m.
Eggs are great and it's best to eat by 10 am. They recommend eating every 2 hours to keep your glucose level even. This can be low fat snacks like yogurt, a handful of nuts, think healthy.
Eat a healthy lunch.
snack
Dinner
He recommends either a handful of nuts 30 minutes before going to bed or some cottage cheese and fruit to help with sleep.
Foods to avoid: Sugar, Wheat Flour, Dairy, Caffeine (they wean you off the coffee).
At night I take:
5 HTP 100 mg
20 mg Melatonin Sublingual
900 mg Magnesium (designs for health)
The idea is to gradually build up week by week the levels of Pandrenal (I now take 2 am 1 by 2 pm Nano C I now take 1 tsp x 2 day)

Holy cow MBJ, you'd need a pharmacist assistant to dose that out for you! If it came all pre-packed I'd do it, but I hate having to remember! Even my daily meds I have my DH dole out. I take 13 meds a day! I cannot imagine adding all these and then checking to make sure there isn't a contraindication with any of my present meds. You are very loyal to your body to take such good care of it. I'm very impressed!!!

Can I just ask for a little prayer or two? Remember I'm going on April 27th to have them check my bladder (under anaesthetic) as I've got some weird stuff going on. Anyway, my own breast cancer is Papillary Carcinoma which is very rare in the breast...but, it's #1 for in the bladder!! I just googled and I shouldn't have and now I'm freaking out in a very calm way.....

((((((Brabe))))): I had no idea you had any weird stuff going on--sorry, I still have chemo brain-if you mentioned it I apologize for forgetting it. What's going on? As for all of the supplements, It took me a week to incorporate it. I keep them all in a bag, I have my list, I have my routine, it ain't easy, lol!0

I thought this was the post I told...hmm....someone's not going to get an update then! I've been seeing a Urologist due to a kidney stone that was so big I had to have it zapped and removed. Then I ended up staying in the hospital for a week because they discovered I have a kidney perfusion defect (part of my kidney is dying off). I also have gout which he treats. Anyway, there is something going on that antibiotics don't respond to and wasn't it here (OH I KNOW!!! It was the autoimmune thread!!!!) anyway, someone mentioned Interstitial Cystitis and I thought YEP!!! So he will go in and fill the bladder with different irritants to see how it responds. It is so painful that they do it under anaesthetic. While he is in there, he'll be able to see (I HOPE!) if there is anything else in there. I wonder now if he scopes it too..... He said if I had IC I would be in an awful lot of pain. I reminded him about all the pain meds I take and the penny dropped for him. He said of course my meds would mask it. Anyway it's really painful and I think it may be some of what I call "back" issues as I found out from having my kidney issue. When I lie down at night it's the worst. I think it's because the urine now fills the bladder differently than sitting up so it's irritating it......more pain!!!

Barbe prayers on their way!

Barbe: I never read this before so if you posted it, maybe it was prior to me joining in. It sounds awfully painful. All through my surgeries I learned to sit up while sleeping using a wedge pillow and you might want to try this to eliminate the pain. Big hugs and hoping it isn't anything too serious.

Barb - wrote to you on the other site - when is the test, I know you told us but now can't remember.... Hope it is soon!!! I'm so sorry I can "hear" how worried you are. try to distract yourself with movies or anything till you can know what is going on!! We are here for you!

Hi all!! I just got alllll caught up. It's been crazy busy couple of weeks but tax time is almost here! Thank goodness I am so looking forward to a few days off with Charlie in doggie daycare so I can rest in peace, sleep in, eat with out him drooling on me..
I've missed you all! Kate sorry you had to go through more test and anxiety but so happy that its just fibroids. My sister waited too long to and had a hysterectomy last year. Another friend if mine had some surgery where they freeze your uterus...twice..it didn't work she too is headed for hyst. I hope you get some relief soon now that you have a diagnosis.
Stanzie thanks for the input on the septum surgery. I met with my ENT to go over results of my CT scan and I just have so much going on and still have infection that can't drain so I am pretty certain I am heading into surgery. My PS is looking over my scans tomorrow and will call with his input. He referred me to the ENT specialist and both from Hopkins so I am comfortable with them coming up with my game plan. My PS is so funny, I said to him since I have to get my foot worked on for a bone spur, nip recon and spetum fixed can you do it all at once to save on anthesia...he said Sure would you like us to build you a deck on your house too! LOL
Barb you will be in my thoughts on the 27th...I hope it all goes smoothly and everything is ok.
MBJ thanks for the info on your supplements i am going to check out the 5HTP
I feel like I had more to say but my puppy and kitty are acting up and I am ready for bed.
Good Night all!! Tomorrow is FRIDAY!! right?? yeah FRIIIIIIIDAAAAYYYY!!Diane

MBJ- I have kicked around trying to do something with writing but not sure what. My DH thinks I should try editing because I'm always finding mistakes in everything I read but it's a tough field to get into in the best of days. Right now the job hunt is on hold. I think I am going to pursue my revision. I have my consult in Florida on Tuesday. Thanks for the list of supplements. Like barbe said, I'm impressed that you are that dedicated that you can remember to take all that stuff. I take 3 meds and half the time I forget to take those! I do want to feel better but doesn't anyone think it's odd that our food alone doesn't seem to give us what our bodies need anymore? Is our food so crummy or do our bodies have different needs today than people 100 years ago? I post on the autoimmune thread, too, and am amazed how many people deal with chronic pain, fatigue, fibro, lupus, hypothyroidism, etc. I just read there are over 80 autoimmune diseases with overlapping symptoms!
Stanzie- Thanks! It was nice to get some good news for once! Not sure yet what I'm going to do about the fibroids. Too much to think about right now.
barbe- I can understand your worry. How could you not with everything else you and your DH have got going on right now? Sending some positive vibes and good thoughts your way!!!! ((((hugs))))

Thanks for the good wishes guys, yes I am scared this time.
Kate there is a procedure they do where they zap your uterus (freeze?) and because the fibroids can't live without the uterus, they die too. I asked what happened to all the crap in my abdomen then. They had NO answer!! Stumped them!! Like no on had asked them this before??? Are you kidding me???
So I passed on that one and went for a hysterectomy. Glad to get rid of the periods for sure!!

Kate: Another lesser known procedure to treat fibroids is painting the uterus with iodine--less invasive. The Wobenzyme N is to help our bodies do what they no longer have the ability to do. As we age we no longer produce enough enzymes to break down our foods and utilize the vitamins and minerals our bodies need. Add all of the preservatives, antibiotics, junk in our food and I think eventually our bodies just break down. And, yes, I think part of it is we live longer then before! I still haven't tried the body temp reset--waiting to get a break from my busy life so I can do this. Thinking maybe next week.
The reason I posted everything I am doing is for those of you who want to do the protocol I am doing without the additional dr. expense. It is working in that I have more energy and I am getting more done. Still dealing with all of the body pain, however, this only seems to be an issue when my body temp drops. Excercise helps, eating something every 2 hours helps, the supplements help. The body is a complicated machine, especially when it breaks down.
Didel: Today is 4/15--Great Friday for you indeed!!!

MBJ- I appreciate you posting your protocol so much. There are definitely things I could be doing better as far as diet, exercise and supplements. Had been in too much of a funk to even start trying but now am more motivated. Not sure if my thyroid meds are finally kicking in or it's just the fear of swim suit weather around the corner. LOL! I have put on so much weight lately which just makes me even more depressed. Hoping Dr. K in Miami can suck some of it out and use it to his best advantage! But then are determined to stay in shape. I hadn't thought of the low body temp/body pain connection. I'm going to have to check my temps on my bad achy days. Thanks again for all your good info!

Kate: Hang in there and yes, the thyroid meds can take 2-4 weeks before they work.

I'm off tomorrow morning to Miami to have a consult with Dr. Khouri at the Miami Breast Center. Really hope he can come up with a plan to make these &%#!*$ implants feel better. My DH and I decided to turn it into a mini get away so are staying until Wednesday and getting in a little beach time. Talk to you all when I get back!

Kate: I am so excited for you and I love that you are going to get a holiday in at the same time. Hope the weather there is fabulous!

Kate, Have a wonderful time! Hope you like the Dr. and get lots of good answers. Have a great time and relax on the beach !!! How heavenly

Kate, how exciting!! Let us know what he can do for you when you come back (and bitch all the way across the airspace to give those attendants a hard time! hehehhehe) or not!

Hey everyone! Back from Florida! It was a pretty stressful trip but I loved Dr. Khouri and I got to meet fellow BCO member, leeinfl, so that was great! (She's a patient of Dr. K as well and was kind enough to even let me see her results which were amazing!)
So the good news is I think he can really help me with the issues I'm having with the implants, and I really like the doctor and I can get to Florida for free. The bad news is my out of pocket costs for the surgery would be a LOT. Much more than I had anticipated. I feel guilty for considering it what with my DH's medical stuff but I just know how much it will help with my mental state, confidence, pain, etc. My DH is very supportive and encouraging and says we'll just "make it happen" somehow. (Sell a kidney?) So I've got a lot of soul searching to do. But what I liked about this doctor is he got right away that I wasn't there because I was in search of the perfect boobs. He got that it was about how they felt, not how they looked (though he could improve that, too). He said he does what he does for the smile- making the patient feel good about themselves inside and out. He talked about the psychological aspect of reconstruction and he is the first doctor through this entire thing that has done that.
Hope you are all doing good!

Kate: So glad you enjoyed your trip. I thought insurance would cover a revision! How much out of pocket are we talking? Did he give you an exact plan of what he would do and how he would go about it and how long or how many visits it would take? How great that you met leeinfl!!!
0 -
Kate it all sounds very positive!! I am so excited for you. It's great that he talked about the psychological impact. The only issue I feel nervous for you about is (and this is from love that I even mention it): what IF you don't feel better about yourself? What IF it doesn't give you closure on the whole cancer issue? Can you deal with that?
0 -
Kate so glad you got some answers! Now the hardest part making a decision right...... I know you will take your time so you are at peace once it is made. I am suppose to send him pictures. I haven't yet. I have no idea what to do. I am happy for you.
Barbe how are things going for you now. Any more job opportunities?
How can a doc in FL be in network when it is out of state?
Have a wonderful Easter slash whatever holiday you celebrate at this time everyone

I hate cancer, my neighbor who was in her early 40's and has a grade school age child just died of ovarian cancer. I didn't know her well but my heart breaks for her family
0 -
MBJ- Insurance does cover revisions but Dr. K is out of network for me. My insurance allows me to go to someone out of network but it costs me more. My cost for the first procedure would be $3600 which is about what I paid for my MX after insurance. The surgery will take about 6 hours because he has to swap out the implants, do some pocket work and then do the fat grafting. He does the FG drop by drop so it takes hours but says more of the fat is retained (80-85%) that way. His exact plan is to swap out my implants for much smaller ones and then do the fat grafting over the top. He said that may be all he needs to do to make everything look and feel better. He will also fix the slope so it looks more natural and fill in my cleavage area which looks very boney and concave. If I'm still having issues he said 3-4 months down the road he would have me do the BRAVA system for 4 weeks, the go back in and remove the implants all together and then do a second, and possibly third round, of fat grafting. It would be very exciting to not have implants but the second and third procedures would depend on whether or not my DH is still working of course. I think just the first procedure will make me feel much better than I do now, though. Lots to think about.
barbe- I know there is a chance that I'll go through all this and things won't get any better. But if I do nothing at all then I KNOW things won't get any better. Feel I have to try if possible. Still figuring out the finances, though. As far as closure, not sure if I'll ever have that as far as BC is concerned. I think I'll always be worrying so it's hard to have closure with that. I think Dr. K can help, though.
Determined- I think you would really like Dr. K. He seems very caring and genuine. He's kind of a funny little man, kind of quirky, but very kind. I can understand your indecision. It is a huge undertaking when considering going out of state. As far as a doctor being in network when out of state I have United Healthcare so any doctor in their network is considered in network even though they may be in a different state than I am. I don't think Dr. K is for me, though. I have to still check on that. But I think he is for some insurance companies, though.
So sorry about your neighbor. Was just reading about ovarian cancer when I was going through all my tests. It is more fatal than BC because it's so hard to detect in the early stages yet it gets very little funding for research. So wrong! Should be some kind of test that every woman gets with their annual exam. My heart goes out to her family. It's just so sad. Cancer SUCKS!!!
Hope everyone has a peaceful Easter weekend! (((hugs)))

Kate: $3600 sounds like a bargain for what he plans to do! You could pay that off with a credit card if you had to. Did he say what your PS did wrong or is it that his entire approach is just different? Hmmm, I wouldn't be covered at all since my insurance is for California only. I wonder what the cost is without? Kate, I am just so excited that you can have this fixed--it would be so worth it if I were as unhappy as you are. Mine are not perfect by any means, but so far I am hapy enough that I wouldn't have a revision. BTW: How do they do nipples-did you ask?
0 -
MBJ- I checked my insurance web site today and they have him listed as "in network"! I sent an email to his assistant to get a break down on all the charges so am curious what it would be without insurance. Yikes! I think the reason maybe we can go anywhere in the US is my DH works for Southwest Airlines and their employees live all over the country. Just a guess, though. The only thing I've seen regarding Dr. K and nipples is someone posted something about ones you stick on that last a week that he recommends so don't know if he even does nips. I didn't ask since I had NSM. Someone on the fat grafting thread might know, though. I did find out that my max out of pocket costs for the year is $3200 so I might even be able to get that second round of fat grafting, and possibly remove the implants all together, if I get it done before the calendar year is up. Have to do some more investigating, though, to make sure.
0 -
Kate: I always forget that you got to keep your nipples you lucky girl you! I saw something about it on his website--how they do really real looking ones. I bet you are right about being able to go anywhere as long as they carry your insurance. How great is that? I would never have enough fat to get to a decent size without the implants but I wouldn't mind enough fat grafting so you couldn't even tell that I even had one. You are going to look so good! Big hugs to you!!!
