I ENVY you ladies with body in your hair!! My hair is so flat that my bangs don't even curve with my forehead...sigh.
MBJ I didn't realize it was chemo hair you were dealing with! The gift that keeps on giving..eh?

I got a call yesterday from the man at my insurance company that has been helping me. He said he basically had to take the woman in the billing office at my PS's by the hand and tell her step by step how to file everything. She called me today and said everything is covered- even the implants. WOO HOO!!! I knew I was right. It's nice being validated but am still ticked that the staff at the PS's office caused all this stress.
Leaving tomorrow for Miami! Kind of nervous as I don't know what to expect. I hear the recovery from the fat grafting can be kind of tough. Will be so glad to be back home in my bed again. My surgery is at 1:30 p.m. Florida time. I wish it were in the morning so I can get it over with. Not sure if I'm taking my computer so will update everyone when I get back. We fly home on Tuesday. Knowing me, though, I'll be back on here before we leave!

Kate, I am SO excited for you!!! When you come home, you'll be a new woman!! Best of luck sweetie, and ANY surgery hurts; it's all in perspective. TAKE your computer!! You expect us to last until Tuesday to hear how you are???? What will you do all day if you can't talk to us??

Kate that is so exciting!!! I can't wait to hear about it.

Kate: I saw your good news on another post and I am so thrilled for you. I was mostly sore from the lipo--kind of feels like I was rund over by a truck, lol. So worth the results though. Wishing you fantastic results and you should take your computer otherwise you're gonna miss us horribly0

Today was an incredibly hard day. My husband, Paul, was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Even though we had suspected for some time it was still a shock to hear the news. I really wish I didn't have this surgery scheduled now. We did get some good news. His PD is slow progressive and will continue at the same rate. The new meds will slow down the progression down by 22-25%. His neurologist (whom we love!) said he thinks with the medication he may even be symptom free for awhile. Unfortunately, he will still not be able to fly because the medications aren't approved by the FAA. (So without the meds he can't fly the airplane but with them he can but he can't take them and fly. It makes no sense.) Anyway, we've definitely had some highs and lows today.

Aw Kate, that SUCKS!!!! You would never get the chance for this surgery down the road, so this is your time and the timing is RIGHT. Let him focus on finishing you up and then you can take care of him. My heart goes out to you both.
As for the lipo, wouldn't Kate have had that done on her first surgery?? I've seen it done on TV and it looks so brutal!!

(((Kate))): I know that you had suspected Parkinsons but to actually have the diagnosis is just devestating to hear. Honey, you just need a big, big hug! I am glad you are having this surgery now, because you are going to need all of your strength to help support your DH. Whenever something bad happens to me, I have always looked for the silver lining. My mother used to joke that no matter what happened to me, I always landed on my feet and I think attitude really plays a part in this. Please do not lose hope. Maybe with the combination of both your experiences in the world of flying, you can come up with a business that fills a necessary gap. You are a great writer--maybe a blog that is supported by advertising from the industry--something like an insider's view to travel. Maybe your husband can become some kind of a consultant. Sorry, just thinking of how I myself would deal with such news. Stay strong, have your surgery and do the follow up with this dr. since no one else offers it. It's important for you to be pain free. Hugs!

Hi Ladies!! I'm back! It's been a hard two weeks. My nip recon went really well but I had some lipo due to the fatty pocket from the implant pushy under my arm and BOY did that hurt. I was so bruised from it I don't know how people have their whole bodies lipo'd. then once I recovered from that I was in panic mode cleaning since I hosted Mothers Day dinner which I don't know why I offered. I was just so busy with that and work cause I had sinus surgery this past monday and it has been a tough recovery. I was so congested and swollen my vision was blurry and I couldnt even see to type an email. My doctor prescribed prednisone to help with everything and today I feel semi human.
Kate I am sorry for everything you are going through. I've been wanting to PM you but my vision was so bad I just couldnt. Sending you one today. I am sorry for your husbands diagnosis. It's always hard to get confirmation of what you've been fearing for months. Glad to hear everything is a go with surgery. I wish you the best of luck and hope you love you new implants and so glad everything is covered.
Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather we are having here today...finally!
Hugs to all that need one
Diane

Hi everyone! Surgery went well yesterday and the PS thinks I'll be happy with the results. I haven't been able to peek because they have me wrapped up like a mummy. Have to say, though, that the fat grafting is a lot more painful than anything I've done before. Just never imagined it would hurt this bad. Not sure if it's because Dr. Khouri uses a different method or what. I can't see myself ever going through this again. My DH has been wonderful being my "nurse" especially considering how disgusting the drainage is afterwards. Just hope it all turns out o.k. then it will be worth it. Anyway, just recovering in my hotel room. I told the front desk I was Dr. K's patient and would be recovering from surgery and they upgraded our room to one with a balcony overlooking the water. It is so nice and relaxing. I can't wait to get home, though.

Oh Kate that's so nice! Rest up and glad you have this behind you. Happy healing and safe travels home. I have to say the lipo part of my last procedure was the most painful out of all the revisions. I don't know how people get lipo all the time. YEOW!
Be well everyone.

It's Day 3 and I'm feeling a little better. First day I could get out of bed by myself. Such an accomplishment! LOL! Still loopy from the pain meds, though. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Kate, I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better! I was off the radar yesterday as we were in Montreal for my DH's Mom's funeral, but I certainly thought of you. I think DiDel might be right, it's probably the lipo that is killing you. How could adding fat hurt? Or does it hurt from where they took it? Where DID they take it from?
How sweet of the hotel to upgrade you, as well. Have a peaceful couple of days and treat yourself good, because you know that when you return home, once you are healed, it's going to be all about your DH. That's why I'm glad you did this for YOU!!

Barb, so sorry about your DH's Mom!
Kate, upgrade is wonderful!!! Sounds like you are feeling better!!! You are so tiny can't imagine the lipo too but yes I agree I have heard it is terribly painful.
So very very sorry about your husband!!! That is not good even thought you thought it was coming. Sorry about the flying confusion.... I guess they try and cover them selves and the passengers but sometimes common sense would be helpful.
Feel better soon, enjoy the view and the time with your hubby and resting as it will be harder once you get home. Glad you have a flight all secured for going back. When do you fly back Tuesday? Anyway, thinking of you!!!!

barbe- So sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope your DH is doing o.k.
My pain is definitely from the lipo because it hurts only where he harvested the fat. When he swapped out the implants he just made a tiny incision in the armpits and that doesn't hurt at all. He took the lipo from my stomach, hips and thighs. The worst pain is in the thighs.
stanzie- I have my post-op appointment Tuesday morning and will leave directly from there to the airport. Cannot wait to get home!

((((Kate)))): Sounds like you had way more lipo then I ever had! I have seen the bruises from other women's posts (modernmade) and I bet it is painful. Just treat yourself with extra care. Is it possible they did enough harvesting of fat that they can freeze it and use it for next time? I have heard of this being done for fat injections to the face so that you don't have to repeatedly go through the fat removal. How great for you to get the amazing upgrade!!! What a nice way to recover-room service with a view! I hope you get the results that you want and that ultimately you will be in less pain. I am also glad it was a very small incision! Rest up and let us know when you have the big reveal. Gentle hugs!
Barbe: So sorry to hear about your MIL. I hope it isn't too hard on your DH. Such a difficult thing to go through no matter what the situation. Hugs!
Didel: I have been thinking about you all week! I made the mistake of throwing a party right after I finished chemo so I know how you feel. Hope it all went well. I am glad your surgeries went well though the vision problem must have been difficult after your sinus surgery. Isn't it great to have nipples again? I can't imagine having lipo under my arm--it still hurts from my MX & recon! Heal up and gentle hugs to you, too!

Hey everyone! I finally got to take a shower (the nurse said no so I emailed the PS and he said it was o.k.) and I feel like a new woman. I've still got a lot of swelling but I think it looks pretty good. They already feel softer and more natural with the added fat on the top. I won't know if the pain is better until I get off the pain meds though. I'll probably start weaning myself of of them tomorrow or just take it at night so I can sleep.

Oh I know that shower felt good!! Well I'd get home before I gave up all the pain meds as that flight is long. Glad they are looking and feeling good!!!

So glad you could finally take a shower! I am so excited for you and I am glad you are liking how they look and feel so far.

Oh Kate! How exciting for you!!!!! I must admit, I'm a a bit envious, though of course, I could go through the same thing (but not fat grafting, I'm just saying breasts). You are a real trooper to put yourself out there yet again for pain and hope. For the long road-trip I just took, I pretty much kept myself in a narcotic daze so I could tolerate it. You might want to consider that too. Also pre-boarding so you don't get bumped around...but hey! Who am I telling this to! hehehehehhe

Barbe sorry for the loss of you MIL.
Kate sorry to hear of your husbands diagnosis. It seems sometimes like it just keeps coming at you doesn't it!
I hope we can all find a sense of peace today

Hi all! Hope everyone is having a good week. I am recovering just fine from my sinus surgery. Major headache but thats about it not too bad. I go to the docs tomorrow so he can suck all the gross stuff out of my sinuses..yuck! but it will feel so much better when he is done!
Thanks for all the well wishes, I can't wait to not be recovering from something. I am hoping this is the last medical procedure I have for a very long time.
MBJ I love my nip! You were right what a difference it makes. I feel done! I love the lipo he did too makes the shape of my new boob more even. Now I just hope I don't squish the poor little nip.
Have a great night!!
Diane

Diane, happy suckness to you today!! Have you had this done before that you know you'll feel better? You never did say what they did.... The thought of surgery so close to my brain makes me squeamish....blah!

Didel: I taped a nipple protector over my bandage to keep the nipple projetion until it healed. Now it's quite a bit smaller, but it looks and feels great. Congratulations!

Oh Barb what didn't I have done. I have had sinusitis 5 times in the last 6 months and many times over the years. I have a severely deviated septum, collapsed nasal passage, enlarged turbinates (which I still don't really know what they are but sounds gross) a polyp and an infection that would not drain. Because my septum was so deviated I was not a candidate for the balloon procedure so I had to do surgery. I have not had anything like this before but felt at the end of my rope in pain and tired of infections. I haven't breathed out of my left nostril in 10 years!! I can't tell you how weird it feels to have all this air coming in...like i got a big HOLE in my head... I have a headache from clots and fluid build up but it doesn;t compare to how I felt with the infection that wouldnt drain. My face was like tingling and numb so I feel sooooooo much better and happy with the outcome. AND I felt even better after my doc sucked all the yuck out today. Oh I swear I don't know what makes someone chose this speacialty in the medical field but I guess Im glad he does! I have a great doc and didnt have any bruising at all and very little swelling. The first day after I felt like I had the worst cold in the world but nothing after all we've been through.
MBJ Where does one purchase a nip protector??? I've been wearing light weight bras (like Hanky Panky) as advised by my PS so I am being very gentle with it at the moment. I just feel like it's so perfect I don't want it to flatten..I need to give it a little extra TLC to keep her perky!! LOL
Good night all...
Diane

Holy cow Diane!! What a joy it will be for you when it is all clear and gone. Why did they make you wait 10 years???? Did they just keep patting you on your head and giving you another antibiotic? I'm happy that you finally got the whole thing surgically corrected. Good for you, that's a hard decision to make after all the surgeries you'rve had. I do notice that you got your nipple first though....0

Didel: OMG you have been through alot. 10 years is a loooong time so I am happy you are on the other side of this. Medela Nipple protectors are sold in the nursing mother section of pretty much all drug stores--just cut off the tip or you will have a huge progection. Medela Contact Nipple Shield 24mm. Just google it!

Wish I had known about th nipple protectors. Mine were perfect and now are almost non-existent - so very disappointed.... My PS never mentioned anything about them but kept telling me my only risk was they would stick out too much.
Diane - I too have a bad deviated septum and then in 2009 I broken my nose opening a screen door really hard. Well it broke the opposite way. I had it fixed and supposedly they fixed the septum but they said that if it was really curved as mine is almost a 90 degree angle then they tend to bend back so I can't get any air at all into my left nostril and just a bit through the right, can't even blow my nose and have to tilt the tip back to get in real air. It has been miserable. Was going to deal with it then got BC. Now I have talked to two different doctor and still not sure what to do... and not sure if insurance will pay.
Turbinates are what clean the air and keep the air inside your nose moist. If they are large they can be cut down to allow more air but you don't want them too small. I had the first new doc say mine were very small the second doc a few days later said mine were very large so??? I'm surprised no one mentioned straightening your septum - now the new doctors all say they can sew some cartilege in to keep it straight but not breathing is sooooo hard! Hate it a lot! Can't imagine having a sinus infection - I have been worried about that as I think without being able to blow my nose I keep imagining everything would just get so tight and full it would blow! Hate, hate, hate the thought of more surgery.... first will start working on insurance as I can't do it if they don't pay. but then it was a result of a break so ??/
