    Trish, fingers crossed for Tamoxifen!

Jenn, you made me laugh about not caring any more....sounds OK to me!

Mandy, I also laughed about your phleb story...I work for a pathology company and they have stories about the cancer patients too

Hello. I am not sure if this is the place to introduce myself, but I will say g'day anyway.

I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with high grade DCIS of 150mm area of abnormality following a routine mammogram. As I am sure you have all experienced, suddenly a door opened into a world I knew existed but had absolutely no connection with.

I am now scheduled for a mastectomy, sentinel node biopsy, and partial reconstruction with a lat dorsi thingimy plus tissue expanders on 12 June. I am amazed that I am using these terms, most of which I had never heard of three weeks ago! (Can't remember the technical term for for the lat dorsi thing😉)

I feel very lucky that this has been detected so early, but am a bit anxious about the size and grade, and therefore the possibility that there has been some micro invasion or node involvement. But I guess I will know on the 12th!

I have found reading about the experiences of the women on these boards so incredibly helpful and inspiring as I prepare for surgery and its aftermath. And I am grateful that you have all shared so much.

I am in Perth by the way. So a big wave to say hello from the West to you all.

Hi Jac and a big welcome from me as well. I'm really sorry to say but you will learn all sorts of new words, abbreviations and what they all mean over the next year..........knowledge that none of us ever really wanted to learn.

Your Lat Dorsi "thingy" is called a reconstruction. There's another new word for you to add to your dictionary. Best advice for now is visit this site often and ask any question you need and remember, no question is a silly question.........we have all been where you stand right now so fully understand what an emotional roller coaster you have gotten onto. Now if you feel the need for tears (and I'm sure you will at some point) let them flow as you will find they are cleansing and somehow give you strength to keep going.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Thank you for your welcome Chrissy. I've been holding back the tears so far apart from mild leakage! I know they will come but I am travelling to a family wedding tomorrow so I am trying to keep my game face on until after the big event 😉 Great to know this place is safe for a good Ol weep when I need it though

Jac this place is super private for expressing anything and everything you need. There are loads of things we share with family and close friends while on this journey but sometimes we need a place to really let those feeling that we hold back from our loved ones and this site and thread are perfect for that.

Hope your family event goes off well.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Welcome Jac! Sorry you had to find us, but so glad you did Smile

Girls - I'm not going to be able to get to Melbourne this year, I'm sorry Scared As you know I had a dog show booked for the last weekend in November and had the weekend of the 14th free. I now also have a wedding on the last weekend in November as well as a dog show and have a big corporate event shoot to do on the 14th. All my other weekends are booked as well. I'm not happy that I won't get to see you all again, but I'm happy that the bookings are coming in and we are busy.

I'll be finishing work a lot earlier than I anticipated - the funding has been cut where I work, and I was expecting to finish on 30 June. But I've had some nastiness in my workplace this week, and it's upset me so much I've decided it's just not worth the stress, so will be talking to my CEO tomorrow and finishing possibly next week. My health has been suffering because of the pettiness of a certain person, and I've again decided my health is more important than anything.

Hope everyone else is going ok.

    Love to you all

    Trish

hi Everyone, I just thought that I would say hello and a special welcome to Jac and please feel free to ask questions etc as this is an amazing group.

When is the Melbourne get together? I am thinking of going but will need to put it in my diary and see if I can make a quick getaway at that time hehe.

I am having my next regular 3 weekly blood test on Wednesday or Thursday and then will find out how my liver is fairing, keeping my fingers crossed. I still feel on top of the world except for some aches and pains in the bone area, but they are tolerable.

    Off to yoga soon

Warm hugs to everyone and have a happy Friday

    Mandy xxxxx

Oh poo Trish!! Gonna miss you not being there but earning a crust sure does come before anything else. Good to hear that the photography is hotting up for you but a shame you need to finish your work before the end of the term because of someone else being a proverbial bitch. Your health is priority number one and stress is the last thing you need so fully understand your reasons.

Mandy sure hope your bloods are good and keeping my fingers crossed to that end.

If no one objects, we'll do the get together on the usual last weekend in November. I have been doing some checking for accomodation and there seems to be quite a few apartment style available for a fairly reasonable price. The next question would be numbers and where, either CBD or Docklands. I was thinking I would get everything organised and booked soon so we can get the best deal possible.

Just done my usual fortnightly stint as guide at the Railway Station ............a really busy day today and my feet are all done in.......lol. Time to sit for a while I think.....lol.

    Take it easy all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Aly, great if you can come, just keep checking in on what's happening as I'll update here.

What's happening with MIL now? I thought she was settled in the care facility. Take it easy lovely, your body has enough going on that you need to take good care of you for a change. I hear you on the 'over it'.

Hi ladies, just jumped in quickly and reading backwards from last post.

Just want to say I definitely recommend staying in CBD over Docklands. In CBD, everything is right there or easily accessible.  I go to Melbourne often and can certainly recommend some great things to do.

Count me in but I will have my own room ;).

Thanks Racy! I used to live in Melbourne but that was fourty odd years ago and things were a lot different so I'm looking forward to checking things out again. My thoughts were CBD also.

Look forward to seeing you again!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

I hear Qantas has a sale on till Monday: $139 from Brisvegas.

Hey Chrissy, by then we will both have been to Europe again.

I hope Jenn, Mandy and Tammy are coming too!

Ok Delvzy you're on the list as are you Racy.

I'll keep checking in to see what the others think but it sounds like it will be CBD so far. I was checking on some deals earlier and it looks like with my discount on a lot of the places the cost will be around the $100 per night or there abouts. I will be trying to keep the cost as low as possible but will let you all know.

Thank you ladies for the warm welcome and encouraging words. I am in Scotland for the wedding tomorrow and I must admit it is a nice distraction from thinking about what is to come. I am unlikely to be online for the next couple of weeks, but I return to Perth the week before my surgery and I think I will have a couple of questions to ask about how what to expect and how to prepare.

I wish you all pain and worry free days until I can pop in here again.

    All the best

I would certainly like to be but won't know until closer to the time. With Mum in NZ with dementia I'm having to pop over there so much that our finances are suffering...

Tammy you are added! Do you want to be in the shared accommodation or book your own? I ask as I know you were in your own last time.

Jenn I'll put you down with a question mark. Sure hope you can come but we understand if it's not possible.

Aly and Sue, are you thinking of coming?

Jac if you are up for it please feel free to join us as well.

Yes hope to be there. Just need a date so I can look for fares.

Jenn I feel for you and have thought about you when MiL throws tantrums that a six year old would be proud of. It has been just so tiring and trying. Because I am not working I seem to be the one dealing with her each day. The tantrum became funny after a while and I managed to get her do do what I wanted and when one of the staff came in it turned off immediately. Special hugs Jenn.

Having physio for my back but seems to be worsening rather than improving which is a bother.

    big hugs to all.
