Nordy:
So, the coconut oil seems to be the answer?
I've ready people buying it in health food stores...is there a cream or is it an oil?
Thanks

coconut oil is more like a white wax that melts when you apply it to our warm body.

EXCELLENT - Thanks Fearless One - I got back into my habit of using True Blu Spa by Bath and Body and now their cashmere line...my goodness, so good ya'd wanna spread it on toast! LOL...as a Gift Basket and Services owner I make my own soaps, washes, bath balms, shampoo and such, but now and then I like to buy too. I come up with some real doozies and was thinking about re-starting my at home business again. When I owned my Landscaping Co. I used many items from the gardens I did and even my own in my line of beauty products, mostly natural, etc. but gave that up a few years ago, I just started again whipping up some "potions" as I call them and I'm ready to start sending out samples come the summer....I'll be working on a website, so stay posted....anyone familiar with Indigo? Soap Company. Since I learned to make soap the old-fashioned way years ago and hold goats milk soap high on the list and olive oil and coconut oil as well, I'm coming up with some really good mixes and names....if anyone has any ideas, please let me know, I'm open to anything and appreciate your feedback! :-)

OOHHH, I bet the cocoa butter applied w/ the coconut oil smells awesome! Like a Mounds Bar!

What about a nice scrub? My skin is looking very dull. I tried Alba Hawaiin, it is okay, but I broke out slightly from it.
Anyone make homemade ones?

I've used coffee grinds for a scrub for my hands for a while now and just last night tried mixing it with a little (you guessed it) coconut oil and it worked great. It did irritate my skin a bit when I tried it on my stomach, so I'll just stay w/ the hands and feet

I haven't exfoliated my face is ages b/c it has become so sensitive. Any ideas for a GENTLE facial scrub? The baking soda/sea salt was WAY too harsh. It barely touched my face and I could feel it burning.

Yeah donna I was wondering how the ooph went. Glad to hear you're doing OK.0

Dr. Oz had a segment yesterday touting all the benefits of coconut oil. From losing weight... to skin/ hair moisturizer. I just love it!!
I've also had great success taking 1200 mg gelatin capsules to get my nail strength back after chemo. I take 2-3 a day, when I can remember.

I have a question for all of you ladies. I have been using coconut oil as a body moisturizer but how do you use it for your hair?
0 -
I haven't tried it for hair (I use Argan oil), but I imagine you could rib just a teensy bit between your hands and lightly smooth on dry hair to combat frizz. Maybe someone has tried it?

I rub it in my wet hair before I blow dry. I don't use much. usually just what is left over on my hands after I do my face and neck.

I have been using jojoba oil, just because I already had it in the house - it seems good on my skin and hair so far, but I do want to try the coconut oil. I loooove coconut....

I have a question that I have not seen addressed anywhere. If menopausal women continue to make estrogen in other body organs besides the ovaries, at what chronological age does the skin of a woman on an AI end up being during and up to the 5 years of treatment? In other words, do 80 and 90 year old women's bodies still make more estrogen than a much younger woman on an AI? I have been wondering about this and am sure that others have also. I don't really expect anyone to know, it's a curiosity more than anything.

Good question wenweb...I don't know the answer, but there is more to our skin than just the estrogen impact, such as our sebacious glands are more active now than they would be in our 80's, we have more collagen, etc....so I really don't think AI's necessarily have to age us that much, but I am not 100% sure.

My mom (73) has fewer wrinkles around her eyes than any of her kids (ages 53, almost 50 and almost 46). Thanks a lot dad0

Yeah, my mom smokes 3 packs of cigarettes a day and doesn't have a wrinkle. I am 45 and have some wrinkles , thanks to the tanning of my youth.....

Good point Fearless_One. Obviously, I didn't think the entire aging process through. Much of my brain energy is based on what I see in the mirror and how my skin feels when I get out of the shower these days0

My mom had great, but she stayed out of the sun; unlike me who, as a teenager, poured baby oil all over myself and tanned while lying on tin foil! STUPID!

glad to hear ooph is over! Rest tho - it's still major surgery. I love, love Whole Foods 365 brand coconut oil. Slather it on - AND, it's edible! They sell it in the "vitamin" section - right near the huge selection of Fish oil. SO, I have 2 jars - one in bathrom, and one in kitchen - use it in cooking - and it's quite nice on toast!!!

ruthbru- I did the same thing. Even used crisco sometimes....what were we thinking????0
-
I added iodine to the baby oil for enhancement.

It's true. You could put hot acid on your face, and I am convinced nothing ages faster than the sun.

Update on the Eucerin...I did put in on m full face last night. It was the longest, greasiest sleep ever. I kept waking up because my face almost felt wet. This morning, though, I have the baby soft skin and it feels fabulous. Now, not sure how I wash my face and carry on with my day!
I will be washing my silk pillowcase...and my jammies...for sure!
Is this what you all feel with coconut oil on the face? oh, the things we do to feel "normal" again! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Well, we looked great at the time but are paying for it now! I am just lucky that I lived in a cold climate where there was a very limited season to tan (and that tanning beds hadn't yet been invented!).0
-
Anniemomofthree I find the coconut oil absorbs pretty quickly. If you put it on about 10-15 minutes before you go to bed and don't over due it you should be OK. My cotton/ploy pillow case seems to be fine.
I too got great tans in my early 20's. I never did use any of the oils though. I tanned nicely without it. If I used tanning lotion it was at the beginning of the season to make sure I didn't get any sun burn.

For estrogen production, our adrenals still produce this afterour ovaries are not working or are removed.
I have and still use jojoba oil.Especially on my hair!!! Love my coconut oil though
I am sooo constipated still after my surgery and will call my Dr. UGH!!!
Be well all and safe if you are snowed on!!!
