For all those loving the coconut oil, Sephora makes a super yummy Coconut Body Butter. I love it and get lots of compliments on how good I smell when I wear it!

I'm sure the coconut oil would be good for your bowels too. But now that Dr. Oz has mentioned it, the price will go up like gasoline!!!

I just like the Whole Foods coconut oil cuz it SMELLS so good.  I went to a fabulous international foods store in Hadley MA, and none of their coconut oil smelled....Frown

I now use the coconut oil with a layer of pure cocoa butter over it for my face - which, of course, means I smell like chocolate coconut.  While reminds me, ruthbru, that recipe has me drooling - does it come out like a pudding? or more like fudge?  I wonder if I can use my gluten free baking flour, and subsititute Agave Syrup for the sugar?  Sounds like a recipe you can "play" with - just wondering what the final product is suposed to look like.

Caerus I don't think too many folks here know where Hadley, MA is… but I do. Used to drive right through it when I lived in Auburn and worked in East Longmeadow. I cut off the pike at Palmer and went the back way to work avoiding Springfield. Grew up outside of Boston towards the Cape.

It's more like a pudding consistency. I'd throw the gluten free out the window temporarily & make it as written.....you don't want to mess with sinful perfection Wink!

I use and love Nutiva coconut oil (the only bad thing is it comes in plastic container which I now avoid most plastics for food) But it is fresh and has a great coconut smell and taste.

I use it for stir frying and cooking etc, and also put it into a hemp smoothie with berries (about a tablespoon) I use it on my skin as well. I mix some cocoa butter, olive oil and coconut oil and put into tins and use that.

I bought some coconut milk (in a carton, like drinking milk, not the one in a can) and although I liked it I have switched to Silk Pure Almond unsweetened almond milk. Yum oh my love this stuff. (I don't drink regular milk and have limited my dairy to organic unsweetened yogurt only...sweetened with a bit of agave and fruit added like blueberries and strawberries, mango, etc)

But the Almond milk is fabulous....

Ohh, I love almond milk, too!  Unsweetened vanilla with berries, banana and a touch of agave nectar is soooooo good!  I've also tried the coconut milk, but I didn't like that so much.

I love almond milk, too.   haven't tried the coconut yet, but I have never had anything from coconut that I don't like.   I even look for colognes that have coconut in their base.

Oooooo... We have some downstairs, let me go look - but they sell the coconut brands at Whole Foods. Okay, I take it back - it is all gone and we had only gotten it because our neighbors were over and 3 of them have sensitivities to dairy. Now I can't remember the name! But check at Whole Foods (and maybe Fred Meyer) - the one my neighbor gets is chocolate and you can taste the coconut as well. It is delicious.

You grabbed me with the cocnut ice cream. My favorite! When we trekked the Alps one summer, we searched high and low in the little towns for the "ultimate" cocnut icecream. Found it in Zermatt.

I'm hooked on Silk's chocolate almond drink. Man, that's good stuff!

I've started cooking with organic coconut oil. It has the consistancy of Crisco. I cannot bear to slather that on my face yet, but will try it out on my body after I have some surgery next month. The unrefined stuff I get at Whole Foods has NO scent to it.

I get coconut ice cream (the vanilla flavor made with coconut milk and agave as a sweetener) from my local grocery stores in the health food section. Yum. The brand is Purely Decadent....

I use coconut oil on my face every night. It's so light and at first feels greasy but sinks right into the skin. Love it.

I love this thread! All this talk about coconut made me crave frozen coconut bars...picked them up last night at health food store. Yum!!! My skin is parched since ooph 2 weeks ago and trip to Mexico, so I picked up shea butter infused with olive oil. Put a layer of coconut oil on top and finally feel moisturize in my skin. Also, my sister treated me to eyelash extensions in Mexico. It was $50 and everyone loves them. I think I look more feminine-especially since I've been going topless for a while (barely have an inch of hair). I'm curious how long they'll last.

Diane- am putting Sephora's coconut butter on my list.

I have been on the search for coconut fragrance - maybe something with flowers blended in it?   I found some cheap stuff at Walgreens, it smells pretty good, actually - one of those no-name brands...

I've been lurking on this thread for awhile and found some great advice and ideas. With all the talk of the coconut oil I had to try it. My face had been very dry and irritated since my first TCH 2 weeks ago and everything I tried just made it worse.  I got the Whole Foods 365 brand and have been using it for three days. At first it felt strange putting something that oily on my face (I've always had oily skin) but I noticed right away it didn't irritate my skin like everything else did. It has gotten rid of the really dry, patchy areas, especially right under my eyes. Even after I walked the dog for an hour yesterday in the cold, my face wasn't chapped like it normally would be.

I did dream about Mounds Bars and Pina Coladas last night, though.

I have stopped using all products with parabens and phthalates. I make my own perfume with fragrance oils (or essential oils) that do not contain phthalates.

I went to Sephora after reading this thread yesterday though. :) Not sure if I got the right one but picked up Pacifica's Indian Coconut Nector Body Butter set. It's a "natural" line that says:

    What it is formulated WITHOUT:
    - Parabens
    - Sulfates
    - Synthetic Dyes
    - Petrochemicals
    - Phthalates
    - GMOs
    - Triclosan

What else you need to know:
This product is free of sulfates, mineral oils, parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, and artificial colors. 100% vegan with no animal testing.

I also got samples of the Lavanilla line of perfumes that are supposedly all natural also. They say the same:

    What it is formulated WITHOUT:
    - Parabens
    - Sulfates
    - Synthetic Fragrances
    - Synthetic Dyes
    - Petro-Chemicals
    - Phthalates
    - GMO
    - Triclosan

I got the Pure Vanilla and Vanilla Passion Fruit. (there are several others too)

Another use for coconut oil.  My hair has been SO dry since chemotherapy, and now on Arimidex, that the night  before I shampoo it ( not evey day as I used to) I rub some coconut oil in my hands, and then run my hands thru my hair.  Seems to be helping,  quickly absorbed, at least in hair as dry as mine, and honestly, it's so dry I wouldn't have to shampoo it the next morning unless I wanted to.

    Thanks East Coast Girl:

We don't have a Sephoria here but I'm going to check it out on line and also see if ULTA has this. We have one of those stores here.

    thanks!

When I had my group meeting with all the specialties that would treat me they went over facts I would need to know. One of those facts was that treatment would age me. Yes, they were correct, I definitely have aged.

One little ray of hope, as soon as my eyebrows grew back I looked much better.

I am certainly not an expert - but I have not really experienced the aging thing. I've had 13 general anesthetics and surgeries, chemo, radiation, 4.5 years tamoxifen. Not that I look that young but I think I still clean up pretty well. I work-out, eat semi-healthy - love the sun - the only time I feel older or frumpy is when I put on weight - to me, that and old lady clothes and hair are the agers. I'm not into any particular routine other than lots of moisturizer. I am gray but stay highlighted blonde and that helps. I think my attitude keeps me young - Kiss I may not have the body I had - but ths one is alive - I love that !!!

Gingerbrew- well dang, that is depressing, lol. I have always been told I look much younger then I am....and I love it, who wouldn't? ;) ha...oh well. Being alive is better.

Ellie1959- that is encouraging!! :) And I totally agree with you on the attitude, clothes, etc.
