Hi! Would someone so kindly re-post the procedure for the hot towel, coconut oil hair wrap again? I'd love to try it! Thank you!
Oh and I guess I only looked into skin care products I was using on the cosmetic database and
completely forgot to check hair products. I had been using Samy Under Control Molding Paste and scored. 7 for fragrence also has parabens. Great.0 -
I really love botox, honestly. I don't get a whole lot of it. Some PS will try to convince you that you need to get all the areas with wrinkles done, but my forehead isn't too bad and I don't mind the little laugh lines around my eyes. But the "angry slashes" between my eyebrows just bothered me to no end till I started with the botox a few years ago. I just get something like four tiny injections (the needle is nothing, if you can handle all the crap with BMX, you can handle this), so I can still make facial expressions. It just softens the groove of the wrinkles enough to make me look as happy as I feel. I'm thinking about juvederm for the parentheses around my mouth, but I'm not in a hurry just yet for it. Definitely take advantage of the fact that you are already at the PS office, if you have the means and the desire!

Marybe,
have you tried coconut oil? Many are using it. I use the Whole Foods generic 365 brand. Comes in a black one pound jar - sold in the vitamin section. Very effective, and smells delicious. Gave a jar to a young friend with very dry skin, she said it's the FIRST thing that's helped her!!!!
AND, in addition, on my face, and driest patches I now use Pure Cocoa butter ( I also get it at WF) and I finally READ the directions on the jar...ah, well, it, the cocoa butter is VERY SOLID, which is why the directions tell you to remove the inner plastic lid, and put in in the microwave for a very short time. WOW, oh WOW...melts, smells like chocolate, and after the coconut oil has been absorbed, a layer of the meltd cocoa butter on top. Ambrosia!
I tried Shea Butter, but like cocoa butter better. Yup, I am happily single, sleep in flannel sheets and they don't absorb ( too much) of the oils. Hope everyone is staying WARM - western MA is beautiful, but too cold to describe!

i am a new cocoanut oil convert...stuff works better on my wrinkles than any of my pricey creams..how weird is that! I will get a little botox again after my exchange. I had a very conservative amount last April and it lasted a long time...I didn't tell anyone and I caught a lot of good comments on whatever I was doing to keep doing since I looked so relaxed...I did the radiesse and it was ok...but will prpobably go with juvaderm next time around.

I do thank you for all of your suggestions, but I really don't want to go around smelling like coconut....I wonder if they make it unscented. I don't like perfume or scents...the only lotion or scented cream that I like the smell of is La Source. I do have a big jar of cocoa butter. In the meantime I am trying this Eucerin stuff I have samples of....the plus intensive repair, the body wash, the daily moisturizer, the original.....they gave me a ton of them and one of the gals at work gave me a big bottle of Nivea. So far as botox goes, I am not about to do that. I have Stage lV breast cancer and am not trying to look young, I just don't want this skin that gives me the creeps to look at.

Spectrum coconut oil has no odor, and I bought it at the grocery store in the health food section. It was $4 cheaper than at the health food store.

I will look for that brand,Spectrum. Oh and I forgot to add, all the talk about watermelon made me go out and buy some today at lunch. I love watermelon, but just never think about it when it's not summer.

Maryb I think if it says refined it will not have a smell. Was told it is not as good but I do not know that for a fact

marybe no she is a Besingi. They are the Egyptian dogs that are on the Egyptian Hieroglyphics. They have the corkscrew tales, do not have a body odor like most dogs, do not have the same kind of vocal cords to bark (they do make noise) and they only go in heat once a year. Most have a pretty hard headed temprament but we got lucky and have one that loves and needs to be with people. Most are very independant and could care less if you are there or not.

There used to be two of those up the street....my dog would race bank and forth outside the fence tormenting them....they can whimper, can't they, but don't bark? The ones up the street were sort of a golden brown and white.

marybe-yes they wimper, gurgle, howl and growl. This one's mother was a golden brown and white. They also come tri-color but that is pretty rare. Our Dog is Phoebe and she is pretty vocal with us, her mother was not near as vocal or near as sweet. We loved her but she was hard headed. She lived for escaping which is what met her demise.

Question about the coconut oil. When used on the face, do you put it on in the day or does it work better overnight? And how long before the wrinkles become less noticeable? I've noticed that it can get into my hair and cause it to look oily, especially when it's around the edges of my face. My hair is fine, maybe it wouldn't matter as much if it were thicker and coarser?

I use the coconut oil at night. You might consider putting your hair in an elastic head band to keep the hairline "tight" and be careful while applying the c.o. The skin does absorb it - take a few minutes for me.
I've already taken my glasses off when I put on the c.o. - and don't look in the mirror much, so don't know about wrinkles - but it is AMAZING how much it has helped my terribly dry skin. I LOVE it.

I use the coconut oil at night as well. I use a vitamin E cream for daytime

I can't remember sometimes where I post and don't--so forgive me if this is a repeat. I hope not. I heard that putting on lotion/oil before you shower helps hold moisture--it has worked for me. It also takes the coconut smell out of the oil, which I will agree with folks here is the best. Jojoba and Sweet Almond have no smell, they are both outstanding. I don't use anything will fillers anymore, my routine is really simple. Oil cleansing on my face, oil moisturizing, brushing teeth, and eyebrow pencil to help my trashed brows. And I look a lot more refreshed than I did before--the short hair keeps the shadows I used to get under my eyes to a minimum. Really opens things up. For me, the brows have been a breakthrough, and another super breakthrough: not showering all the time. When I took long, hot showers it never mattered what I tried, it never worked. Now that I don't shower as much, my skin has improved 100x.
A friend just gave me the Clarisonic. A lot of folks swear by it, we'll see.

The coconut oil made my skin break out.0

It would probably be too oily for me, too. I use night cream but not day cream for that very reason...

Definately hair not too short, colour it! I have discovered a mineral make-up 'bare escentuals', it is 100% minerals with no additives of any kind. It looks like a powder, but it is nothing like and will not sit in the lines. You buff it in, the more you buff the better it gets. Also it will not dry the skin. Please please try it girls. I also have discovered 'Liz Earle skincare' 100% natural, no Laurel sulphate in sight....nothing ages like that stuff. Neroli oil, small amounts at bed time and is strangely not like oil. Plumps up brilliantly. Fake tan, yes please. I also now swear by 'Pilates' it really tones you up without all the grunting and panting and you will make new friends. The odd glass of red wine does wonders also. Gosh i am so pleased i have found this site, it is hard to go through this.0

Marybe, I bought both Spectrum coconut oils (extra virgin, unrefined DOES smell like coconut but the refined DOES NOT have an odor). I use both but I will continue to buy the unrefined when I run out. BTW- the coconut smell doesn't linger.

zz2c Where do you get this neroli oil and do you mix it with anything? Read a little about it , its says to mix with a carrier oil?

I use extra virgin coconut oil and I'm shocked that it doesn't make my face brake out. I have very sensitive skin. It does make my skin nice but it doesn't get rid of all those new crows feet I picked up in the last few months of chemo. I have an entire flock right now. Who said birds fly south for the winter? Crows still here.

Jojoba oil is drying to the face. Saff. oil is quite good, same with coconut oil. Be careful with neroli, too much can make you sick. Lavender is hydrating you can add the real essential oil to saff. oil for your skin and hair.Eucalyptus is exhilirating, add it to your shampoo, just a couple of drops in the shower. Orange makes you happy.Rosemary centers me. Try things and see what works for you!

Okay, gotta admit, I just started selling Avon. I used to use Anew and now I don't have a rep. Now I get it at my price. It is amazing stuff!! They now have it for all age groups not just one. I don't use the cleanser (I just use an astringent and water) and I don't use day cream as it's just too much. But Anew has a serum that is to die for! And eye and night cream I swear by. I had a couple in my office today that has teenagers. She was stunned that I have grandchildren! And it's not like I was a teenage bride, my son turns 30 in March!!!! Get thee to an Avon rep.....

Now see, I've heard from Paula's Choice that lavendar is not good for the face. Good to know re: jojoba!! I will try the others! I wish they would sell a traveling set of these oils, do you guys have any smart ideas regarding that?

Re: Pilates. I attend a restoration pilates class for women who have had breast cancer. It's been great to get more limber, and it's helped to break up scar tissue.

Hi ladies- Glad to find this thread. Like all of you I am aging rapidly thanks to treatment. I have never used much makeup. But, now if I don't use foundation, concealer and mascara people ask me if I fell sick. Guess I'll be wearing makeup for the rest of my life ! LOL. I have two questions about make up. Is there foundation that holds up while you sweat? There is no AC where I work. I figure between the lack of AC and hot flashes anything I put on my face may melt off when the weather warms up! Also, the first two radiation tattoos on my chest are very visible when I wear anything with even a modest scoop neck. Does anyone know about foundation that covers up those pesky purple marks and doesn't rub off on clothes ?

Hi - I am newly diagnosed and was wondering is there a sticky with all of the good products to use? Are there products that I should specifically avoid? If I sign up for the Look Good Feel Good (I think that's what it's called) workshop, will I learn this stuff?
Thanks for any help. This is overwhelming!

Look Good Feel Good helped me several years ago...
About looking and feeling older: Before Dx I would be asked for my ID when I ordered an alcoholic beverage. And I was already 50!
Now everyone calls me Ma'am and no one bothers to check my age! It's only been 5 years!
It helps to not wear socks with your sandals. Only old ladies do that!
And to have long, shiny hair.
And to look physically fit. I'd go for physically fit anytime.
Thanks for starting this post.
