Yes, busy here too. MIL left last week, so trying to catch up with house things. Still going for PT twice a week and trying to exercise at home. Susan, so sorry to hear about the illness in your family...hope you're all on the mend. Kelly, just wondering how your exchange surgery went and how you're feeling now a week later. I hope everyone else is well so we can have a great lunch on Saturday. See you all soon .....love, Jan

    Hi everyone,

Been super busy trying to enjoy the summer now that I'm ambulatory again :). Getting school supplies (ugh $245 dollars in books and such), shoes, uniforms, it adds up.

Karen- stop in and let us know how you're doing.

Betty- good to hear from you yesterday.

Maureen - I'm sorry I missed your birthday, I hope you had a great celebbration.

Susan - you'll need to let us know where you live. Your story on the welcome party for the kids was interesting as a friend of mine from work had the same thing occur in her neighborhood in Clarence.  Nice and welcome parents and friends.... but funny stories to tell you - so remind me Saturday.

Jan- how are you and are you now alone and without your MIL.  ?? You'll likely miss her when she's gone :)

    See everyone soon!

    Bevin

Hi all, almost time to see everyone, I have been MIA since my cousin came from Tenn. to help for a week, it was grat having her, but by the time our  running around ended each day, I was beat.  I will be using a cane, let's hear it for Arimidex and may be on oxygen, don't want to scare anyone.  Saw the doctor yesterday and she said again I just have to be patient - that I will get better in baby steps, it is hard to wait, cannot wait to see everyone and give and receive hugs.  It has been a trying time for many of us. love Karen

Karen-cannot wait to see you too, and hope you get even better by Saturday.  It's hard to be "patient" when you're a patient isn't it?  The doc is right though.  You'll get stronger before you know it.  I know it's hard just being a bc patient.  I wish they tell you how long it really takes to recover from treatment and all its complications.  Ugg!

Hi bevin-I live in the Pineledge area of Clarence :) looking forward to the stories!

    Thanks for the advice Maureen!

Everyone Else-can't wait to see you all!

Hi Tammy, I have seen Doctor Sylvia Regalla at the Brain and Spine Center in Williamsville NY.  She is a naturopathic doctor and also a MD, I liked that she's also a medical doctor, some are not so you really need to check their credentials. Dr. Regalla practices functional medicine.  If you can afford to visit or live near Maine, Dr. Mark Hyman is very good and a major pinoneer in the sbject.  A dear friend of mine introduced me to him and he has some amazing books , and  see's patients at his UltraWellness Center.  Good luck to you and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Dear all, thank you so much for traveling to Batavia and to Betty for traveling via LeRoy.  It is always so good to be with you and the few hours go so quickly.  Thank you all for carrying O2, Maureen for making me wear it, helping me up and lifting my spirits.  I came right home and took a lovely chocolate martini nap.  Maybe by next month I can travel to you sans O2 and with a cane that my DD has painted. love, Karen

Karen- stay well and wear your oxygen, its the best way to keep your heart and lungs healthy and not working too hard.  Especially important with this heat!

For Cheryl and Betty and everyone who went on to the casino - I hope you came home with more coins in your pocket than when you arrived!

Jan- your time to rest now that your MIL is gone .

Maureen- I'll touch base with you on the event for your son. I'll talk to my Hubby tomorrow.

    Hugs to everyone,

Hi all, I am going for a short walk today, the doctor said it was important to build up my strength by walking.  I am only going about 4 houses down but each step is getting me closer to my old self.  I don't know whether that is the old me or the new me, but it has to be an improvement!!  Riding on a boat sounds delicious Betty, losing at the casino not so much.  I sent my DD's phone number to Cheryl, so you would all have it just in case, as I am the only one who checks my voice messages and the thread.  Hope all have a happy week, weather is supposed to cooperate, those poor folks in the south, that hurricane is huge.  love, Karen

Hi all,  The hurricane missed my DD but headed to the poor people of New Orleans.  I'll take a blizzard any day.  Tried to get her to come home but had no success.  No home till Xmas :(.  All okay here, just busy working.  My computer is starting to skip the letter Y so if my typing seems off, I didn't re-read some of it for missing letters.

Thinking Sept. could be back at the creekview.  Need to get work schedule, need to fly to Boston and MD sometime in that month timeframe so need those dates.  If it works, I'll try to do in a week.

Hope everyone is well.  This computer is giving me so much crap, I keep typing and re-typing....arrrrgggggh.

    Love,
    Maureen

    Hi All,

Thank you for a great lunch Saturday as always.   Had some friends over afterwards and spent way too much time cooking a very simple meal!!  We told them to ring their bathing suits, but when they arrived, all they had were tennis raquets.  They wanted to play tennis with us, but after getting bombarded with balls for 20 minutes we both surrendered and went in the pool without them :).  I guess we need to practice now that we hav a court!!  Hope to make September get-together.  Inlaws arrive on Tuesday until the 23rd.  Cheryl-thanj you again for the bracelet.  It is very pretty!

Hi All, hope everyone is well and enjoying the nice weather.  Went to put flowers on parent's grave and bees are merciless.  This is the 3rd day in a row I've been chased by bees.  Must be heading into fall if they are so aggressive.  Anyway, went shopping and I found a ravioli maker for my Kitchen Aid, I've been looking for that attachment for over a year.  I found it at the Premier Gourmet shop on Maple.  What a great store, could've browsed in the store all afternoon, just unique things.  Work is good, but stressful.

Cheryl,  I love the bracelet, you are so talented.

Betty, How did doc appt. go?  Did you meet the new onc?

Jan, Bevin, Karen and  Susan hope you are well.

Enjoy our long weekend.  The snow will arrive soon enough :)

    Love,

    Maureen

One more thing,  football is starting, what's the choice  outfit Karen?  Perhaps something warmer than a sundress for the colder weather?   LOL  :)

Hi Maureen, the sundress is definitely retired, may just go with Seaside's DH outfit for last season - color blue for home, color white for away, that way I won't be freezing in the winter ot too hot for the summer.  We may just have to psych this football season out in order to have a winning season.  Am enjoying college football tonight, had yard sale on Friday and today, DD sold all her handpainted furniture on Friday, she takes flea market pieces or garage sale pieces and redoes them with faux painting techniques.  She did an old china cabinet to look like tortoise shell, it was the first sold.

Thanks Maureen, DD was very pleased to say the least, also sold two of her paintings of Black on White Oriental Flowers.  Off to see the PCP on Tuesday, knees and ankles are swollen and mammo on Wed, another doctor week, it just gets old some times, have no idea why I am swollen, makes it difficult to keep my balance when I walk, where did the old me go?  love Karen, sorry for the whine, this is just going so slowly.

Whine all you want Karen, you've certainly earned that right with all the issues.  Take one day at a time.  Easier said than done, I know.  Beautiful day today.  Tomorrow I'm attempting to make home made raviolis, wish me luck.  If I don't post for a few days, you'll know why.  DS and new GF had their 1st and maybe the last fight.  He's so down, just breaks my heart.

I think we hurt so much when our children hurt, my godmother had a saying, You are only as happy as your unhappiest child. I always found it to be the case.  Homemade ravioli, haven't had that since my Italian grandma passed away, she used to make them for Christmas Eve dinner after midnight Mass.  She had 13 living children and spouses and grandchildren, I don't know how she did it.  We never seemed to run out either, it was a huge feast.  Went for a little walk, I feel better now, still swollen, but better attitude.  Thanks Maureen, love Karen

Hi all, funny football story, my DGS had his first football game of the season, which they won in the last 45 seconds.  It is already a better season than year's past, when the only game not lost was a tie at 0 - 0!!  In the last quarter Addison got penalized 5 yards for aiding a player's forward progress.  Had never heard that one, so I asked him to describe it, his quarterback had the ball and was trying for short yardage to get the first down.  He was met by a wall of the opponent's players, so Addison picked him up and carried hiim forward for the first down.  Would have loved to have seen it, Addison was totally jazzed all night by his win.  hugs to all, Karen

Cute story Karen. Would have loved to see that. But isn't that what football is about....all players working together to go forward? In hockey there's a penalty for interference....but isn't that what it's about....interfering so the other team doesn't score?

Anyway, how is everyone? Well here I am retired and really loving it. And I had made a pledge to myself that I would spend more time with my mom. And I have, but she's an hour away. She had an unfortunate incident at her home. Someone tried to break in but she heard and called the police. So now I think she is finally convinced that she needs to move. Her neighborhood is NOT GOOD! Today I took her a list of senior living places and assisted living. She sounded interested in the assisted living and I think thats what she really needs. I'm giving her a couple of days to make some calls. I will also be making some calls to start the process. This is going to be one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but it needs to be done. So I think I was meant to retire at this time. My mom needs me and there would be no way I could do this if I were still working. It's Gods plan for me at this time. So please say a prayer for my mom that she stays safe and has the strength to make this huge change in her life. Love you all! Hope everyone is well! Jan

Dear Jan, I am so glad you are free to help your mom, can you imagine how you would be feeling if you were tied to a job at this time.  Blessings coming to you and to your mom as she makes this huge step in her life.  May God hold her in the palm of his hand and protect her as the plan comes to fruition, with you as her guide.  What better use of your time could there be!! love, Karen

    Wow. Jan

Hope your mom is okay. What a scarey thing to happen to anyone more so with someone elderly. Hope they caught the idiot that preyed on an elderly defenseless woman. Prayers to you and mom that the best decision is made. There is a really nice senior community on Transit and she'd be close to you. Let me know and I'll drive up to get the name. My next door neighbors mother lives there and she has nothing but good things to say about the community.

Karen great story. You should write that down I'm a journal he cam read to his children. Good luck with the doc. You go tomorrow right?

Doing okay today busy work after the holiday. Take care all. What's a good day in Sept.??
