Hi all, still waiting for an appointment at Duke, hope they call soon, Sherry was very sick over the weekend, woke with horrid pains in her stomach, did not call the doctor about it. The pain was so strong and the pressure so high, she was vomiting. If it happens again, I'll really push her to at least let the doctor know, maybe he can get Duke to rush the appointment. hugs to all, Karen

Hello - First Post Here
Diagnosed a month ago on accident (meant to just remove a new fibro and found DCIS all around it) planning bilat mastectomy and wondering if anyone has had DIEP in the Western New York area or Rochester? Saw 2 local PS already but looking for another opinion. Young (37) active and very healthy run and do sprint triathlons so trying to come up with a good option for reconstruction.

3mom- I had surgery nov 29th.(I am 40) I chose a TRAM reconstruction. I think that is similar to the DIEP. I am in Rochester. I had Dr. Chris Caldwell for my BS surgeon and Dr.Steven Vega for my PS. I am happy with my results so far. Feel free to private message me if you have any questions...

3mom good luck with your search. Sounds like you are very active. You'll be just fine. My surgery was performed by Dr. Bauer in williamsville. Imho he is wonderful. I know he works with a plastic surgeon want to say his name is shastri? Anyway not sure they perform that specific surgery. You can contact Roswell for referral as well.
Happy valentine day to all the wonderful people on this thread. Have a great day.

Maureen,
I am seeing Dr Bauer's partner and love her. Saw the PS in williamsville you speak of for talk on inplants and another doc who works out of ECMC and Sisters Hospital who is doing some DIEP's but wondered if there was anyone else...
Happy Valentines Day to you too -- time to get kiddos off bus!

Hi all,
Sorry I have not been posting in awhile. I can't wait to see everyone on Saturday, I will be driving into Rochester for a few days after lunch. Spending time with Mom and the family. I love being home with the family for a few days. Sometimes it is hard being in Buffalo and not with family everyday.
Debbie, sorry we were not able to connect the last time I was in Rochester. I am very happy you will be at lunch on Saturday.
3mom, the dr in Williamsville you are talking about did my reconstruction and I am happy with the results. I went the expander route and it was long but worth it for me. Hope you are able to find the right dr for you.
I found my dress for Kates wedding. I have a pic and will show you at lunch. Boy was that a chore, so many stores and some very ugly dresses.
Hubby is still doing PT and has about 50-60% of his range of motion back. They are working towards 100%. He is buying another bike, this time a Harley.
Well I can't wait until Saturday, see you all then.
Hugs, Cheryl

Hi all, had a great time today, always do with all of you, do we have any big winners? There was a PM from skigirl waiting for me . Her doctor had called and said to avoid crowds because her blood count was so low, I assured her that we are all waiting to meet her and there will be other luncheons at Alex's, it was great meeting in Batavia, I got all my errands done before lunch and was able to enjoy a two chocolate martini lunch, next comes a nap! love, Karen

HI guys, there is a lady who started a thread called : Buffalo diep flap - today. She is looking for women from Buffalo, specifically who went to Roswell that she could talk to. I alerted her to our thread but don't know how to copy and paste into another thread. I told her I'd alert you all to her question as I was certain those who went to Roswell may be able to reach out to her.

Hi All, Just sitting here watching the Oscars, better than any hockey or football.
Betty, hope you're having fun at BonJovi
Cheryl, Was that a lucky dime
Jan, Susan, Karen: I had so much fun at lunch. Came home after I WON and ate the remainder of the sandwich because DH went to Subway for dinner. He figured I wasn't going to be in a cooking mood. I left the casino with 19.00 more than I went to play. Thanks to Cheryl, I won and walked away. She taught me well.
Bev, Hope all is well with you and things are starting to look up. We miss you!
Debbie, Sorry you couldn't make our lunch. I'd love to meet you. I even brought my eyebrow kit and had all my chemo tips to help through the treatments. Hope you are doing well and onto Taxol.
Today, I went to Christmas tree Shoppe and spent my big winnings. I love that store. I bought light green tablecloth and matching chair covers for the dining room spring look. I'm thinking spring.
Love,
Maureen0 -
Maureen, I'm thinking spring too!! March 1st is coming quickly--but in like a lion as they say . Glad you won yesterday, and I and a fantastic time with all of you as well. Sorry you weren't able to make it, Debbie, but I'm sure we will meet you soon.! Karen-glad you had fun and were able to have two chocolate martinis. I wouldn't dare! I'd be sleeping in my car lol!

YAAY Maureen, may it be the first of a string of winnings. Always smart to win and walk away. Boy Susan, did I have a nice nap when I got home, dead to the world. Those martinis are potent. I can just imagine Betty at the concert, she is going to be dancing all night!! Bev, hope you are a little better, I was on Cipro when I had that cellulitis, it is one of the heavy hitters in the antibiotic world. Love to Jan, Cheryl - hope you are having a great time at home, Susan, love your hair, meant to tell you yesterday, Debbie, hope those counts go up quickly for you. Love, Karen

Glad there were some winners at the casino. Bevin, we sure do miss you and hope you are getting well. Debbie, missed you also....but you must take care of you first. Hope everyone has a good week.....March 1st is Friday and I'm also anxious for spring.

Hi all,
Maureen, the dime was not lucky, lost again. I must hve the word looser in neon flashing lights written across my forehead.
Debbie, take care of yourself and hope you are able to make the next luncheon.
Betty, sorry we missed you at the casino. I'm sure Bon Jovi looked at you.
Bevin, get well soon, we miss you.
Jan, I hate it when I can't get to sleep, then I start counting backwards from 100 by 3's it usually helps.
Susan, I am also thinking of spring, then I get nervous because the wedding is in about 2 months.
Karen, had a great time home, happy you were able to take a nap saturday.

Hi all you lovely ladies,
Okay, I have been busy traveling back and forth to Rochester for the past two weeks and have had really nothing much to say. But today here goes. Last night I went to my wellness support group meeting and cried during my talk about my self, cancer and what Gilda's has done for me. Not really sure why I cried, but it was quite shocking to me and the group. I have not cried there in years. I am approaching my 5 year mark, maybe that is it or maybe I am not really as well adjusted to bc as I think. Oh well just another thing to think about.
Maureen, congratulations on your pomotion and raise. So happy for you.
3Mom, hope we are able to meet prior to your surgery. I wish you well.
As with all I can't wait for SPRING. I am so over the cold weather.
To everyone I hope you are doing well and you are in my prayers.
Hugs, Cheryl

Hi ladies, Cheryl, sometimes when I don't expect to cry about the bc, it is then that I cry too. Congratulations Maureen on promotion (you don't have to go to New Zea-land do you) and raise, I can just imagine how valuable you are to them! I have been having trouble since going off the Tamoxifen for my 3 week break. I used to get migraines, haven't had one in 13 years, always hit on a weekend, just before my period, weather change, stress or tired, if I had any 3 together I was down for the count. Took Imitrix for them. My MO thinks that the estrogen coming back into my system triggered the migraines, just came back from PCP and she agreed. I have had 6 in the past 2 weeks, my MO is switching me to Aromosin, I will start it tonight, pray I am SE free, I hate these headaches, they are so debilitating, with the Irimidex, you take it just as the headache begins to head it off, it has always worked for me before. Thyroid level was 7.5, supposed to be 2.5 so change in med for that, cholesterol was very good, I always sweat that, weight up, I got a talking to for that, and admonition to up the exercise, certainly not going to cut the chocolate martinis!! That's what has been going on over here. Think sun, this greyness is so depressing. hugs, Karen

welcome 3mom! Wishing you well for your surgery and looking forward to meeting you.
Cheryl- sorry that you're struggling. Spring will be here soon and will lighten up everything.
Karen- why are you switching to Aromasin? I get Migrains too. I have a shot/injection I can take and some pills that are pretty powerful. I'll have to get them and am too lazy right now to walk upstairs. I'm bone tired. You may have been on it already but if not, very good to try.
Maureen - Congratulations- we'll have to toast you at our next visit.
I've been busy as you all know. Finally getting rid of the pneumonia after a 4 week stint- arghh - I'm sick of being sick. Tonight- Big Bag Theory .... I love that show!
Hope everyone else is well.

Glad to hear from a few of our friends.
Good news Bevin, you need to keep healthy so we can celebrate
3mom good luck with the surgery. Hope you sail right through.
Hi Karen, sorry to hear about the migranes. Those can be nasty stuff.
(((((((Cheryl))))))) you've been through so much lately, it was probably a stress release from everything. It's all uphill from here.
Jan, Betty, Susan???? Where are you ladies? It's like my coffee club has gone away.
See you soon
Love,
