So...whats for dinner?

Lacey your dinner sounds AMAZING! Nancy- So does the pizza place yum mo!
It must have been sub night because we ordered too. We spent way too long at the neighbors playing and DH said lets just order in- ok by me! The boys were in rare form today. They removed all of the decal stickers of construction vehicles that I spent A LOT of time doing over a year ago and stuck them all over the place. Pissed me off!! There was one thing after another like that all day and I pooped from trying to keep up with the gremlins!
Dinner tonight is steak tips, corn on the cob and baked potato. Easy and I know the kids will eat it- and then they can go to bed

Also to specify- the decals were DS2 room decorations that were level etc- now they are everywhere and stuck together. I don't know why I bother?

I just re read my post- I did NOT poop but am pooped. Debbie are you out there enjoying my typo?
Also, my dog rolled in poop and I have given him 2 baths now and he still stinks.
Cheers!

Laurie LMAO! I guess it was a just a poopy day for you alll around. Go to bed and hope for a better day tomorrow.
I remember when my daughter and her best friend decided to cut (not the dolls hair) but all of her barbies HEADS off! My poor mother would die if she knew....she spent so much money buying them for her...in spite of me telling her that she didnt like dolls. And, no, she didnt turn out to be an axe murderer in real life.
We did just plain old tossed salad tonight...thought of grabbing a sub...but was too lazy to go to the store after work.
Nance I love trying different pizzas, as long as someone else is making them for me.
And mmmmmm on the peach cobbler. Wanna share your recipe? I've got a house full of kids coming for the 4th of July

I saw that too. I figured that since "pissed" (in America) is slang for upset, I figured "pooped", in this case, was for *really* upset. :-)
Dinner tonight was left over fish tacos from last night. Sharon cooked them and they were good. We did have to get a few more taco shells. DD left them out on the counter last night and one of the dogs went 'counter surfing'.

eric - counter surfing - I love it!
laurie - all of those posts made me laugh! Sorry you had a frustrating day!
I am trying to use up all the food in the fridge before our trip and had a bunch of tomatoes and a green pepper, so I made chili. Used some grass-fed ground sirloin from the freezer and a can of dark red kidney beans. That sounds reasonable except it is about 95 degrees outside, but DH was happy anyway! I have several potential meals from current fridge/freezer/pantry supplies but I think after I get back from Washington, D.C. next week we will be getting takeout or just going out until we leave.

Well, bettre than cereal tonight. made teriyaki meatballs over brown rice, sauteed veg (left overs from a meal out) bit putting away all the leftovers was a pain. Only ate half of the veg, and couple meatballs. Still going light on veg because of gut issues. On a new med, to try and stop unexpected, um, visits to bathroom. LOL. So not eating raw veg or salad, and hamburger meat and rice are easy to digest. And teriyaki at least has dome taste. Hoping meds work. sorry about too much information! LOL

Hope the new meds work for you Monica.
Lol Eric!0 -
Yesterday was SIL and BIL's 49th anniversary so we went out to dinner at a nice restaurant in downtown Decatur. I had a stuffed chicken breast that was quite good, the stuffing spinach and goat cheese. Lightly breaded and panfried. Side of cheddar infused rice (that's a quote from the menu!) and asparagus, always a favorite with me. Instead of salad I had the lobster bisque. I enjoyed the meal and the two glasses of chardonnay.
Tonight's dinner will probably be the heavy h'ordeuvres at a cocktail party for men (and spouses) participating in the golf tournament.
SIL and I played 9 holes today. Between all of you and me, I'm a little jealous of dh who will be playing 18 holes 3 days in a row. It is what it is.

At DS2s with their extended family arrangement (other grandparents live here for purposes of childcare)...and even with sometimes six (!) adults to watch these highly active babies, I so appreciate your "poopedness", Laurie. These little ones are sooooo active. You are amazing in my book to keep up with yours. Of course unless you turn into a multiple personality, you are at least dealing with them consistently. Too many parenting " chefs" here....I think it is confusing, to everyone! DH's and my heads are spinning.
Off to get ready for my post birthday dinner. We are going to a restaurant in the town where I spent the first seven years of my life. Sweet!
Moon, may your meds help you "slow down".
Best to all.....0 -
Tonight is a new recipe for me, Navajo Fried Bread Tacos. It's a mixture of spiced beef and pinto beans with onions, tomato and jalapenos, served on fried bread. I had this dish in New Mexico and Arizona and really loved it. Hope this recipe does it justice.

Laurie, laughing! Why do you even bother?! My two destroyed everything. They kicked cribs into pieces. Ripped down security gates. My DS still peeellls everything. The baby ripped one of her baby blankets in half on Christmas day, like the incredible hulk! Destroy, destroy, destroy. And my dog EATS cat poop.
So, cheers! Tonight's beer is dedicated to you.

Lacey- For sure too many people setting rules make thing tough. Even having DH home on weekends thows a mix in the situation. I don't let mine snack after 4 all week so that they eat their dinner, which we usually eat at 6:30. On the weekends all my rules get thrown out the window by DH and I bite my tongue. It is good for them in a way. But I appreciate during the week when they look at the clock before asking for food! I hope you enjoy your dinner tonight!
Nancy- Good luck with your new recipe I hope you impress yourself!
I was going to do something new tonight too. Fresh ravioli, with some of my dad's canned tomato's, fresh basil, mushrooms, basil, pesto oregano and some grilled chicken tossed in. I was out voted and we are having ravioli with just prego sauce. (Whenever I eat Prego I think of Apple.) BORING. Ohwell, it's easier and I will focus on that I suppose. Dh has a fire going in the new fire pit and friends are stopping by after the boys head to bed to have cocktails by the fire and a swim. So a nice lazy night. I think I will head to bed early in anticipation of the hockey game tomorrow night.

Love the sound of your evening, Laurie.Enjoy a nice swim....you guys have some heat there today?
It was really hot in the sun here today...DH took his initial dip in the pool. Tonight it's like San Diego weather outside...gorgeous! Hopefully we will be leaving for the restaurant soon...however, both kids, over tired and probably sensing that mom is eager to leave the house, are wailing loudly upstairs...prolonging bedtime. DS2 called to say he has an emergency surgery, so he has to join us later. Chaos reigns....how did we ever manage this?!
Am getting really hungry.....we were so busy with the kids and the general chaos,
I never had lunch....which would not bother me at home, but with the energy I expended today since 6AM, I really could have used some.
BoBo you also get the red badge of courage with your young'ens!0 -
Lacey, hope your birthday dinner is delicious and the occasion very special.
Bobo, your post would not be a good pamphlet for selling parenthood! It's fortunate that children look so lovable after they go to sleep following all the tantrums.
The heavy h'ordeuvres (sp?) last night at the cocktail party served very well as dinner. One server was slicing up little prime rib filets and I love prime rib. The horseradish sauce was delish. Also a lot of the usual. Stuffed mushrooms, little winglets, meatballs, etc. Everything was good.
Today at 11 am SIL and I go to a brunch while the men are playing golf. Me I'd rather be playing golf! But SIL was only up to 9 holes yesterday. This time last year she could barely walk as amyloidosis was giving her heart failure. So we're thankful she's in remission. But has blood work every two months to measure "light chains." Amyloidosis is a disease of the bone marrow in which a protein called amyloid is produced to excess and the light chains go out into the blood stream and deposit in various organs. A horrible and rather rare disease that is as deadly as cancer. Dx'ing it took some time and much testing.
Nancy, I ate those Indian tacos out west and loved them. The fry bread is so good. The rest of the ingredients are pretty taco-ish.
Happy Saturday!

Dinner last night was cheese and crackers on the boat. Oh and my ususal fruit in the cocktail form. The lake was so flat without a ripple...so we took the boat and lots of friends to the middle of the lake and just hung out there till midnight. The moon on the lake was fabulous.
Today is a graduation party that is being catered by a very famous restaurant here called Dinasaur Barbeque. They bottle their own sauce (think you can find it in most grocery stores) Really looking forward to some good food today.

The Navajo tacos were really good and very spicy. The filling was a little different from regular tacos because the pinto beans were whole. I'll definitely make them again. I'm afraid DH will insist ;-)
I have no idea what tonights dinner is. I was going to make fish sandwiches but I hate to do fried two days in a row. Maybe some grilled chicken.
I made English muffin bread yesterday and got fresh eggs from the Amish so DH has promised me French toast this morning. Yay!0 -
The sourdough starter is ready to work. It's sourdough bread time....
0 -
Carrie, you should go out on the lake tonight or tomorrow for the super moon.

Fruit in the cocktail form? Carberry, laughing. Eric I am jealous of your starter. I vote for Eric for Man of the Year.
I have had a very bad week. I had an endo biopsy that was the worst pain of my life. Trying to play it off, but I feel like a caged animal. Woke up this morning at five a.m., crying. Results in two weeks, but I hardly care about that. The GYN said it was going to be uncomfortable, and I got blindsided. Involuntary screaming. And then she said she was going to walk out, and I would have to make another appt and start over, if I couldn't stop myself. So I bit down on a twisted piece of kleenex. Sorry, Eric, for TMI.
Haven't eaten anything since. Dinner tonight: a beer. That is carbs, right? Don't know what I can do about this. Have to have these biopsies going forward whenever they are indicated.

Oh bobo, I'm so sorry, that is awful. You deserve more than a beer. (((bobo)))
0 -
Bobo- That is awful! Throw in a percocet with that beer! I am so sorry you had such a painful experience. Please be gentle on yourself and take it easy. Also, I LMAO at your previous post of the hulk baby and the destruction. I am right there with you!
Carrie- I agree with Nancy, you should hit the lake for the super moon. I love your stories of boat rides. MAkes me miss ours. One day again soon we will get another one.
Busy day today. We got stuff done this morning and then took the boys to play their first round of mini golf. It was SO hot. We all had a great time and DS1 actually got a hole in 1! We all came home to the a/c and went to our own corners and cooled off. I honestly felt sick from the heat. So after a while we all felt better and hydrated and hit the pool, did some yard work etc. I am ready for bed but the Bruins are on and we have neighbors coming over to watch the game with us. Boys are about to go to bed.
Dinner tonight was chicken kabobs with zucchini, onion and mushrooms, some rice and an awesome salad. I had thirds on the salad as I was just in the mood for it.
Carol- I hope you get to play a little more golf and am glad your SIL is doing better. Enjoy the night- I have been thinking of you in your camper!

Oh, Bobo, feeling your pain! You certainly don't deserve or need that, ever! I thought physicians were supposed to be caring and compassionate! Geeze!
So hot around here lately, hate to make dinner or cook (A/C causes lymph pain so I turn it on only under dire circumstances). Made tacos Wednesday night with seasoned chicken and leftover steak from precious night one night, used the leftover chicken for taco salads another night, DD came home Thursday night so made her the char Sui pork she likes with ramen and steamed veggies. Went walking around a lake today with some friends, when I got home, my "D"H "cleaned" out the fridge - every bit of leftovers in their containers sitting on the counter (even the leftover pork I made last night AND the homemade tiramisu my daughter brought home for me yesterday that her friend's mom made yesterday. WTH? So looking forward to eating it today after i got home, just because he doesn't like coffee or cheese doesn't mean it's ready for the trash!). He didn't throw anything out, didn't wash anything, just left a huge mess. Good thing he had done it just before I got home, things were still cold. Not wasting the dessert! Think I'm leaving the mess for him to do tomorrow.....0 -
Bobo That is NOT ok to be treated like that!! If they know that the procedure is painful or stressful, there are things they can do for either case...drugs! WTH? Maybe get another Dr. I am so sorry you had to endure that. Sometimes I am so ashamed of being part of the medical profession....seeing things from the patient side. Praying for good results for you.
In all of our silliness...we decided last night (on the boat) that we would tie all of our boat lines together and lassoo the moon! It was beautiful.
Catered pull pork from the Dinasaur rest was amazing. Having a family picnic today and my brother is bringing the leftovers. Yum I am bringing a pasta salad. Was gonna do deviled eggs, but not feeling the love of peeling alot of eggs.

Bobo. It can't fix what's already happened to you, but I would certainly tell the doctor how unhappy you are...It won't help you this time, but it might help next time and help others as well.
30 years ago, my complaint to a doctor about Mickey's care, in loudly delivered blunt and earthy terms gave the hospital security staff something to do...but it did get the problem resolved. I can still remember the doctor's face turning white and the nurse...smiling...
2nd, had the stuff been left on the counter here...the yellow lab would have left the counters completely spotless..... For what it's worth, her (yellow lab) food preferences, in order of preference are people food, cat food, pre-digested cat food and dog food.

Very heavy buffet lunch today so dinner tonight is a Spanish tortilla and salad.
Eric, sounds so like my dogs lol!0 -
Eric... Thanks for my laugh today! Your dog would love my hubby. I have a similar story. We had 3 cats not too long ago. My fav one (passed away in Feb), would sit by my kitchen window, furthest from food prep so she could be near me and watch the other two. NEVER begged, walked to another counter or swiped food, only ate what was in her dish or from my hand. Great cat! After steak dinner last week, a bit left on a plate, hubby said he'd do dishes but didn't happen. Couple hours later there was something funny by back slider, looked like dead something. Turns out our thief cat must have gotten up on the counter (we didn't see her), stole the small piece of steak and somehow it ended up by the back door! I love doing dishes right after eating......

About 5 more minutes and the sourdough loaves will be coming out of the oven....

Yummmmmm. Standing in line Eric! What do you do about sour dough starter? I love sour dough, no one else here does.... Hope the dogs stay away

Still in Jersey, watching a gorgeous sunset, by myself ( a needed break after a chaotic houseful of DDILs relatives) on one of their decks by the pool.
Was hot here today, but delightfully cooler now....and amazingly, no bugs! DH and I escaped into Manhattan this afternoon to see "Once". I loved the movie, and the music did not disappoint today.
Times Square felt not much different from the constant overstimulation in this house!
Well, maybe a slight exaggeration. Here there is no naked eighty year old cowgirl with pasties! We have decided, however, that our 2 year old DGS might try out for the Naked Cowboy role since he has a current penchant for running around au natural.
Friday night's "birthday" dinner ended up being at a place that was like a tribute to James Gandolfini's longest role, if you get my drift. Then DS2 ended up arriving from doing a major emergency surgery just as his cioippino (sp?) arrived at the table....very efficient! I had a sea bass dish with various hot peppers on it. The panna cotta dessert was to die for!
Last night we had local pizza that was delish....thin crust with mushroom and onions.
Then sadly watched the Bruins lose game five (once I figured out how to turn on DS2s complicated TV). Oh well....Monday is another chance!
BoBo I would like to yell at your doc....then fire her! Hope you are recovering from the trauma....
Eric, I would be tempted by your bread if I didn't eat the biggest and best bagel in the world this AM! Lordy....I get off this carb train tomorrow!
Today I did make a white gazpacho soup for DDILs' relatives. The recipe (modified), from the Sweet Life Cafe (martha's vineyard) restaurant was easy....if I did not have three unsolicited volunteers "helping" me make it...I am so independent in my cooking style, that this was hard. But it turned out fine.
Checking out that gorgeous moon again tonight. Love your boating friends's fantasy, Carrie! Can't wait to get to our lake later this week....
Loved the pet/counter stories....reminding me of another good reason why we won't get another pooch. Of course, now that DGS has been inventive about getting up to the counters, nothing is safe here anyway...minus the counter surfing dog they gave to my sister.
Nite all......0
