Is anyone here in the area where the bad wildfire is east of LA or the terrible floods in Louisianna?

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good weekend so far!

Junie, I'm glad you're getting back to norm and breaking that ER cycle.

Loverly, how's it going with DD college drop off?

Shep, remind/update me what the surgery is for? I sure hope you get your answers on Monday!

Smaarty, MMM...I would love the Blueberry Bran muffin recipe, please.

Tomorrow a friend (2nd mom) is coming for lunch, so I'm trying to motivate myself to clean, but would rather talk to all of you. My friend is almost 80, and even with over 30 years difference we have a good friendship.

One of my TE's has rotated and is sitting high on my chest and at this point will stay this way until the exchange surgery (probably Dec). I'm so bummed..it would be so much easier to get through this if I wasn't so lop sided. I wonder if I caused it by sleeping on my side, or if it just happens. I didn't think to ask.

These are the kinds of conversations I have with my PS...

Me: You can fix this, right? PS: Yes, I'll fix it at the stage 2 surgery. Me: Good, because I don't like having a boob in my face.

Then when we were talking about size...

PS: I would expect you'll get 1-2 more fills after this one. Me: I think so too..I'm certainly not planning to work at Hooters. PS: Well I don't want to limit your employment possibilities.

Okay...I think I'll go have ice cream for dinner, because I can!

Sas: yes, I did pick up a few of the POO POO POO references.

Shep/whomever: yes, husbandandI do stand ready to provide a carbohydrate coma's worth of irregular pasta for anyone coming through sw michigan.....

WildT ~ I looooove Ice Cream....... spoon cheers to you too! Sneaking some out of the carton right now! Glad you had such a yummy meal 🙂 Alas, the ice cream dinner for me was not to be.... Can't complain too much though, 'cuz FFH and I ended up eating at a really good Mexican restaurant. They have out door seating right on the beach. Even had a guy out on the patio playing guitar and singing. The temperature had dropped to 86 and it was sooo nice to sit out with the mild ocean breeze. Myrtle Beach is very dog friendly. Any place with seating outside will allow dogs. There were three well behaved dogs with their people. One was a medium size Beagle mix with a Go-Pro Camera strapped to his back with a special harness. He didn't seem to mind it at all. Would have loved to see what the little guy filmed!

Funny how the older we get, the less age differences matter. Hope you have a great visit with your dear friend tomorrow!

Here's the restaurant we went to - this is standing on the beach, looking toward the dining area:

    image

And a short walk on the beach after with the pier and the Sky Wheel in the background:

    image

My back and hips are messed up from mets and I am having troulble walking for more than a very short distance. Oddly though, the sand on the beach was EASY to walk on. Maybe because it shifted under my feet and cradled my weight evenly?

The surgery I've been waiting for since June is to repair two vertebrae in my lumbar spine that are in danger of collapse. I need to have both treated with radiofrequency ablation to burn out the cancer cells. Then, they will be shored-up with bone cement. My entire spine is in pretty rough shape from the damned cancer. Not many surgeons would be able to properly to work on me - very complex stuffs. I did have one of those vertebra "fixed" last year. There was an ooops during the procedure and one of the tools is now lodged in my spine permanently. No more MRIs for me. The repair work was not sufficient to properly support my spine and has actually caused more damage. The oooopsed surgery needs to be repaired along with first time fixing that other vertebra. Sick and tired of waiting...............

Shep - Actually today (Saturday) is 8 days. Yeah! I am glad you have at least heard something from the hospital, albeit minimal. I had ice cream tonight too. Mint chocolate chip from Haagen Daz. Beautiful view of the dining area. Glad you enjoyed your meal and the walk. I am surprised that your FFH was willing to treat you so kindly this evening.

I will see the Ortho's PA on Monday and I sure hope they are ready to do something to fix this mess. Bone sliver is making its self known. Aching in the groin near pelvis were the scan shows it to be.

Smaarty - I live in the Willamette Valley which is in the Western part of the state. These temps are very unusual. We had 103 Friday & 101 today. Tomorrow & Monday are supposed to be in the low 80's, then back up towards mid & end of the week.

Evie is cute as a bug.

Queenie - Congrats on your anniversary!

Loverly - I hope the trip was quick and safe. Is your DD super excited to be out in the world for the first time?

Susan - Hope you're sleeping well. And that little Marley isn't too scared being in a new surrounding while you are recouping. Sorry to hear you have a cold on top of dealing with the chemo.

Jazzy - Hope you are enjoying a nice weekend, since your weekdays are so hectic.

    Sassy - Hey there.

WildT - Looks like a really yummy dinner!

Well my eyes are drooping and my pillow is calling, so I'll wish you all sweet dreams. :0)

Shep, My fantasy is to become an ice cream taste tester and try every flavor out there! It sounds like you had a nice evening, despite the company you were keeping. ;) The view is amazing and I'm so glad the walk felt comfortable for you. It is interesting that the sand was easy to walk on..may took away some impact on the bones? My DD has a wheelchair she can use for distance walking, but for her is a muscle thing from her CP. The sand would be very tiring for her to walk on. I'm so sorry about your back and the oops, and waiting. It's so crazy..the life we lead, wanting surgery. I hope the Dr/hospitals cooperate and you get a plan together soon!!

I'm overwhelmed and in awe of all of you and all that you are going through. No words...just wishing I could wrap you in a big comforting hug!

Good morning friends- happy Sunday funday!

Shep- so good to hear a walk on the beach helped you. I have problem feet from the AI meds and find the beach sand helps me too. You have something stuck in your spine from a previous surgery? Good lord.

JazzyJune- although I don't drink much anymore, I do still love a good wine and found one of my favorite pinot noirs from Williamette Valley. you live in a yummy place!

Wild Tulip- it is good to have friends of all ages. I have friends who are much older (always have) and also like to have ones too. Someone once told me the way to stay more youthful in spirit is to have younger friends to hang around. The great thing about older folks is that they have seen just about everything, and also think things like cancer don't scare them as much. By the time you are 80, you have either had at least one major thing happen with your health. I hope you have fun and hope you enjoyed your ice creme too.

Smarty and Susan- I just wanted to say I do love the baby photos you both post. Those little girls are both so cute and growing fast!

The weekend has been a better slow down. I was under the weather with some GI issues yesterday, so i opted out of a professional org event in the afternoon. Today I have one of my besties coming over for a birthday dinner on the new patio set. We have ran around with the monsoons that did finally move in here in August so I hope we can actually eat outside!

    Oh Shep, dammit,

Susieque, sorry Marley is so tough on you. The initial pic he looked so big in the cage, then the pic of him next to Shelby, put it all in perspective. He's a cute little bugger :). Hugs for chemo week.

    WENCHIE< hootie hoo?

    JUnie, hoping for the best

    Jazzy address?

    Tulip have fun, fun, fun

Loverly, Your a better mom than me, we packed Stephen up and sent him off to school. We then went to visit about 2-3 weeks latter. He was the only one moving in by himself. He took allot of ribbing about that.

Missing lot's of folks, but waving \\////\\\/////\\\

Thank you for the anniversary wishes; we went to the one really foofty restaurant in town--DH had mussels in white wine sauce and I had New Zealand (that does make a difference) rack of lamb. There's been a change of management and chef(s) recently, and it shows, so I'm not quite as enamored as I was even a few years ago.....but it's pretty much the foofty restaurant in town.

But I'm hoping for at least another twenty-three years.

Okay need to share a truth. But I must state the qualifier first. This thread is my home. This thread and you all here our my greatest blessing and my greatest joy, besides DS Stephen and Donnie(most of the time, he doesn't make it easy)

The truth, as defined by my counselor several years ago, is I suck at normal talk. He defined it as part of my ADD. I can focus to the extreme. Like spending 13-14 hours yesterday answering Rosieo's simple question. But hard to focus on the enjoyable interpersonal exchange that normal people do.

My truth is I have both ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome and I am not particularly social. I prefer to be alone. If I had my way, I'd verbally communicate with as few people as possible. It's not my strong suit. Passing for "normal" is exhausting. So what you're saying, sas? I can relate.
