Good morning ladies,
I received a text from ShepK a couple days ago saying that she was at the hospital waiting to be admitted. I did not know until now, after speaking with Sassy, who has spoken to ShepK and asked me to post this info for you all, that Shep has a systemic infection, but is now on a couple antibiotics and is making good progress. Prayers are appreciated and hopefully we'll see a ShepK post in the near future.
Hoping everyone else is having a good/decent start to this week.

Junie- thank you for letting us know about Shep being in the hospital. For any and all in touch with her, let her know we are pulling for her and hope she is home soon. Putting her on the prayer thread too......

It's not only my birthday (66, thank you) but also my unofficial cancerversary. It was 3 years ago today that I had the mammo/US that said it was cancer. Subsequent biopsy gave official dx 5 days later.
My beautiful niece called from NYC and sang happy birthday to me. She is walking a dog (her p/t job) and was going down to the Hudson River to walk so I asked for a selfie and she sent this:
I spent my birthday in NYC in 1977. I remember a cherry tree blooming in front of a church on Wall Street.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAGS!!!
And Happy cancerversary, too.
This week marks my cancerversary also. One year with stage 4. And I get to celebrate with more radiation...yippee.

Sending out healing thoughts and prayers to Shep and Iris!
Mags, Happy Birthday and Happy Cancerversary also. Your niece is beautiful!
Lita, I wish your cancerversary would have been a happier week. Staring radiation is not a good way to celebrate. Boogers!
Mommy, praying your allergies clear up fast! Opened windows are the best thing for our souls this time of year! But they can also be hard on our allergies
Sorry if I've missed anyone. I'm a bit tired from my 2 hour round trip to see my PCP this morning and now I'm sleepy from my new higher antidepressant dosage. I wasn't going to make any changes to my meds but it seemed like a good idea as I've realized I don't want to do much of anything. (Cancer related?)We'll see if it helps, if not I'll go back to the original dosage and we'll try something new. We also realized that I'm off half of the meds I was on pre-cancer which is unusual I guess. My PCP was very surprised and thrilled to see that I didn't look like death warmed over when he walked in. He had just gone over the notes from my MO and RO about how well I got thru chemo and rads, I guess he didn't believe them. I forgot what a hunk of a man he is!
Waving hello to everyone and hoping all is well! 👋👋

Hubby was surprised that I had hung his laundry outside today.
Even with taking something for my allergies, they are still going haywire. Having sneezing fits so bad it's making Jackson bark

Jackson is just saying "Bless you Mommy"

Mags- I remember when you got diagnosed and we were with you on Hermits for that year or so after. I know there have been changes for you since. Hoping your birthday is one of celebration friend.
Oh and your niece is beautiful, I heard it was in the upper 80s back east today! I can see that by her tank top too!

Wenchie: Cancer does contribute to fatigue and the "I just don't feel like doing sh#! " feeling we often get. But only you can tell which is which. Depression IS treatable, but cancer/chemo/radiation-related fatigue is a slightly different beast. Anti-depressants for treating cancer fatigue and malaise can make things worse if not monitored and managed properly. Hope you find a solution that works for you.
Oh, and isn't it a "perk" to have a nice looking doctor for a change? At least one good thing to look forward to when you have to go see one.

24 hours ago I was heading into FG surgery. In Dec I got sick a lot after EX, so Dr's tweaked anesthesia and I came home with disolvable Zofran. It tastes nasty, but has really helped cause I only got sick once. (Before tablet) So far lots of bruising on chest, and I haven't looked at legs yet. Getting from laying/sitting is painful, but walking around is okay. I'm supposed to call PS today and let him know how I'm going, and then post op in two weeks. This time I walked from pre-op to the OR and after I laid down the PS came in. As the nurses were prepping me, my PS stood and held my hand until I drifted off. A skilled Dr, AND kindness!!!

Belated Happy Birthday to you Mags. What a lovely niece.
I was in NYC 21 years ago but it was Jan. Very cold but no snow. We were on upper east side, Park Ave, great location, I remember an easy walk to St Patrick's. I won a holiday there, including tickets to the Barber of Seville at the Met! And that was from Ireland to NY!

Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes! Couldn't believe when I checked Facebook and had over 50 of them there too! I don't know why people like me, but I'm sure glad they do!
My left chest is so tender, inside & out. I haven't had any major coughing spells, but it's sore to the touch, like it's bruised, and I'm still getting those muscle spasms in my ribs. Yuck.
Bright note, I see the oral surgeon tomorrow so we'll see what he can do. I'm going to seriously try to make it to Easter eve service, much more doable than mornings for me.
Sis just went home after being here since Friday, and she'll be back Saturday to spend Easter with us. I will fix my world famous leg of lamb with butter/garlic/lemon thyme rub. DH's favorite.
And my sister's granddaughter is going to be induced tonight. Her blood pressure was high at checkup today, and there's a family history (her mom) of preeclampsia. So they're taking no chances. She's gonna be the best mom, and her hubby is strong and loving. Their son will be named Thor Alexander. And she didn't realize that her great great grandfather was named Alexander. Coincidence? I think not.
When I last talked to my son, I told him to let me know when he was ready to have info about his birth father. He said, I'm ready. So last week I sent a card with the name & address (he lives about 6-8 hours north of my son) and photographs I found of him. Also told him BD's birthdate. Couldn't believe how easy it was to find him. Will be curious whether DS follows up. He's 47 now, his BD is 70.
Whew! Long post!

Talked with Shep. She's home from the hospital. Working on sleep. Again trouble with staff re: Meds. Bummer. Asked to come home, doc hugged her and said it's be a good thing. Came home on Levaquin. Peeing like a racehorse. Sends love to all. will post when she can.
Wenchi, How about Fantasy Island? Greg and I would get stoned every Saturday and watch that. You wouldn't believe what a good show it was when you were stoned. Laugh and laugh.
Mommie Cleaning what's s that. I have my Di. What a wonderful woman.

Mags- I am sorry you are so sore. I am glad you are able to enjoy a holiday week with family. My mom always made leg of lamb for Easter, my siblings favorite. And I hope the baby arrives without any problems (Thor is some kind of a great Viking name I might add with ties to the weather), and think it is good you were able to share info with your son on his birth father. May help to answer some questions for him.
Sassy- good to hear Shep is home. Thanks for the updates. Hope you are having a nice day too!

After my rads consult, CT mapping, and radiation beam tattooing, we met my former co-workers for lunch. That's my boss on the right. Today is his 70th birthday. He must have a picture stashed in a closet somewhere (like the Picture of Dorian Grey), because he sure doesn't look 70 to me.
Or could it be that I AM his Dorian Grey, cuz I look older than him now?

Lita- what a nice photo of you! Your boss is very youthful looking. He also reminds me of Kevin Spacey.

Hey Mags, sorry I am late to the Birthday wishing!
Lita - Yep, your Boss is quite handsome and doesn't look more than maybe late 50's to me. But what do I know. Hope you enjoyed your lunch.
WildT - Glad the nausea med worked and you only experienced a little bit of sickness after your surgery. That's so cool that your doctor stood and held your hand until you nodded off. Never heard of any doctor doing that before.
Hey there Feline!
I am having a sleep study tomorrow night and have an appt. in Portland on Monday, so Kirby is going back to the trainers for a few days of playing with his buddies (the 7 Papillions). He's only been home 4 days, sure gonna miss him, even if it is only for 5 days.

happy late birthday mags
Good luck on sleep study June b
Wild t, hope you get some good rest tonight:)
Got my test results back....cancer still stable. Over 2 years on this chemo. Sure beats every 4 month changing. I wonder how long we can go with this one. Docs don't know, I jumped out of the box with this one. I also graduated to every 6 months for tests instead of 4. That will help my bones with less radiation and whatever those tests are giving you.
I am reading a book called...the emperor of all maladies. Biography of cancer. It is a wonderful wonderful book. It's about cancer, but you learn do much more. First surgeries, anesthetic, infections, and his these docs came up with ideas. And how so many of them died cause of radiation and all the cures they experimented with and it cost them their lives. It is a very well written bookbb, not depressing at all. I am only on page 80, and I respect the fervor these docs put into all this. Can't say enough great things about this book.
Nightly night
