SWgeeWi - so sorry to hear of your trouble. Good for you for going in right away and not waiting. Sounds like those antibiotics are doing there thing, hope it is all resolved soon

Momof3 - glad you are done and good results, sorry to hear about the marathon day and multiple IV attempts

Shianne - chemopause can be temporary depending on the age of the person going through it. Some people have had chemo and gone on to have children later. Tamoxifen blocks the effects of estrogen on certain cells but does not suppress it from being produced. Many ladies on tamoxifen begin to have periods again, I believe Juneau has gone through that

Quick update from me - I have been having lower back pain and some rib pain for about 3 weeks, has been getting worse, not better, so I took my own advice and called about it. I had bloodwork drawn from my port yesterday when I went for my Herceptin and they will be doing urinalysis. They are also booking me for a bone scan so I'll let you know when that pocket party is.

Beautiful day here, I'm looking forward to getting outside and doing some gentle cleanup of my yard. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Learn something new everyday lol. My MO told me it was meno without doing blood work. I just assumed the tamoxifen put you into meno and that was that. I knew that periods could return after chemo, depending on age. I'm 43 and right on the cusp but with tamoxifen I likely won't get one... A good point in my book!!!

38 years old, ACT chemo and Tamoxifen for 2+ months. So far still getting periods - and fairly regularly... Lucky me!

Shianne, I went on Tamox 10/31 and got my period in January for two or three months and then it went away again. Looks like a moving target when you are on that little pill. I agree it is a good point if it decides to stay away. :)

Lol. Ok I won't throw the pads and tampons out yet!!!

Back from BS office and pronounced CANCER FREE!!!! Her words, not mine. I feel like I can breathe for the first time in almost a year. I'm laughing and crying, I'm dancing and cleaning. OMG!!! I mean, I knew before, they told me after surgery they got it all. Margin was not as clear as she would have liked but it was still clear. But, to finally here those words... It's hard to process right now.

Shianne- congrats on NED! He sure does get around doesn't he and in a good way!

Swgee- Yes how are you doing? Are the antibiotics working?

Juneau- Yes love your house! When are we all moving in? I'm sure some of us girls don't mind sharing a room. But I call dibs on bottom bunk! lol

Believe- Love mine and Tays bracelets we received today. Now to find the perfect outfit to wear for her concert/ my birthday night. Today is shopping and getting ready for her slumber party next friday. I know we have decided on pizza for dinner now what type of cake is still up in the air.

Tazzy- How is your friend that was diagnosed a few months ago? Haven't heard anything more about her.

I'm having a better week, I got off work thursday and friday at 200. we were really slow and i got to leave early, that is so nice to be able to do that. Jon bought a new grill it's so big that it's bigger than my office cubicle.  it's a propane grill/charcoal grill and a smoker (3 separate compartments). We've used it once so far, i've been pestering him to smoke something. I love brisket well anything smoked. :)

Has anyone done hot yoga since surgery/chemo/hormone therapy?  Were you able to continue?  Did it exacerbate joint pain or relieve it?  What about hot flashes?  I have my first class tomorrow.

Juneau... I love your house!! The lake view, the decks outside, the garden, the wood floors, the fireplace ....just beautiful!! You must be so excited!!

I got sprung from the hospital this afternoon. "lymphedema of breast with superimposed cellulitis" is the official diagnosis. Twelve days of Bactrim and some oxycodone. My breast is still very swollen and bright red and tender. (Think engorged breasts after stopping breast feeding.) It's not very common-my BS said she only sees one or two cases a year. The IV antibiotics they gave me took care of the cellulitis, so now I have to deal with the lymphedema. I need to call the Breast Clinic Mon. morning for an appt. asap to see BS and a lymphedema specialist. Apparently there are bras that help with lymph drainage in the breast area. (I'm sure those will be pretty, Ha!) I told DH that I'm beginning to wonder why I even bother weaing a bra or shirt for that matter anymore. Anyway, I came home, took a pain pill and took a nap. It's so nice to be home, and DD is home from college for the summer, so I'm happy.

Hope all of you moms are spoiled tomorrow. It will truly be a special one this year. Happy Mother's Day! Love to you all! Sheila

Dear Swgee, so glad you're home, but sad to hear the breast is still so swollen and red - ouch! Sometimes I think that this bc is like dominoes. Once the first one falls, the rest follow one by one. Hopefully for you this is where it stops - enough already! About wearing a bra, I only wear one when I go out. Earlier today the doorbell rang. I have a tank top on, and it's very obvious that my breasts are very far from similar, so I first made sure who it was before I opened the door for DH who had forgotten his key. Nobody else can see me like this, but not long to wait now before DIEP surgery. You rest up, and enjoy your daughter - those are precious times!

Shiela - gentle hugs. Glad you are home! Yep, this BC is the gift that keeps giving - we just don't give in. It's met it's match! Wishing you a quick recovery. I've bought every bra on the market ... Still looking for the right one.
