Hi gang,
Just back (a day early) from my solo adventure. Seeing DD was a blast, saw cousins, an old college roomie and my brother who happened to be in Indianpolis the day we were down there. Then, off to Chicago to see 2 dear friends...one that moved there from here in Cleveland about 5 years ago..we had a blast, stayed in PJ's till 3:30 that first full day..just catching up. On Thursday, I was transferring to a college roomate that goes back about 24 years, and was to stay with her till tomorrow. Well, I get a call from my son. His good friend dates a girl, and her mom is a friend in a group that gets together now for over 15 years I'd say. The boy asked if I talked to this mom of his girlfriend. My son said "no..mom is in Chicago". He then breaks the news that this girl (who has chronic migrains and other issues) had either overdosed or mistakenly mixed meds and had just died after being rushed to hospital! I came back tonight to be able to attend the funeral tomorrow morning. My Son was on his way home from law school and dropped stuff off to be with the boy as his family was out of country but his mom coming back tonight. This is just sooo sad. The mother found her and now has to bury her only daughter (age 23!) on Mother's Day. Gonna be rough one tomorrow ladies. Give your loved ones a big hug! Things can change in an instant as we all know.
I'll catch up with all the posts but want to wish SwgeeWi get well wishes as well as Websister and Congrats to Juenau on the house and Shianne on the great news. I know I missed alot but good thoughts to all! Happy Mother's Day to the moms too!

Aruba, welcome back from the travels! How very sad about that girl . . . I cannot begin to imagine the grief her poor mother and family must be feeling right now. You are so right about things changing in an instant.

Tazzy-Right now we are in Missouri, getting ready to let DS get his drivers permit......then off to South Dakota and west into Yellowstone and Glacier for June and July. August I hope to be in Oregon, the blackberries are ripe then.
Ireland-glad you enjoyed our crazy life. I wouldn't change it for anything! We've been back "home" for a month and I am so ready to go again. I don't miss the white picket fence at all, because that brings mowing, snowblowing, staying in one place and on and on. LOL

Believe, have u tried a Koobie bra? If you're not too big it 's a nice, gentle bra, and comes in pretty spring colors.

Susanna- it's not the bras - it's the boobs! Decided to live with what I've got for the time being.
Have a wonderful day - my dear friends.0 -
Happy Mother's Day everyone! Still waiting for the surg nip operation and the release of the capsule.
So happy the jury is still out on the red wine case. Hugs and chocolate to everyone, hope recovery is smooth. Prayers to everyone.
Saw Chicago is having some flooding and rains. FL generally has rains in May every evening. Last night the baseball game was delayed 2 hrs due to the thunderstorm. After standing up that long and cutting grass earlier that day....I called it an evening and went home.

Dyvgrl: Just catching up from a busy weekend. No I'm not a fellow Alaskan (although I have been and it's a beautiful place). Juneau is actually my last name. My "name" is a play on that and junebug. Welcome to the suvivors forum. You're in the right place...
ladies have to read the last 4 days...! Ugh! May have to skip to some. Can anyone give me a synopsis? Are there any cliff notes? LOL!

Shianne; I'm 45, got my period almost 6 months to the day of my final chemo. It's been coming like clockwork ever since. My MO told me I will have all the lovely SEs of menopause from the Tamoxifen, with the gift of a monthly period! In fact I got it yesterday. If you ask me THAT just fucking SUCKS!
iatigger; YAY on your exchange! Be careful not to do too much after surgery. It's such a cakewalk that you forget that you can't lift anything, etc for a few weeks. I'm so excited for you!!
websister; fuck... FUCK... FUCK... being in pain sucks. I am sending good vibes and lots of love your way.
aruba: what a loss.... a friend of mine from my 12 step program overdosed on Friday. She was in her 40's and has a daughter; probably around 8 or so now. She had 3 years clean when I first got clean almost 7 years ago. I really respected her recovery. Then she relapsed a few years back and just hasn't been able to put any time together. I saw her a few weeks ago and she was recommitting to staying clean. This disease sucks.
Thanks all on the house. We have our Home Inspection Friday so I am just praying that there are no big surprises so I can start thinking about where to put all my furniture.
On a side note, it never ceases to amaze how when I'm stuck in a painful place I can't see the forest through the trees. My home inspections is Friday and Saturday is 1 year since my BC diagnosis. What a difference a year makes. My mother reminded me yesterday when I took her out to tea (we went to a traditional Brittish tea house Tazzy... scones and clotted cream! Cottage pie... YUM!!!) anyway - I disgress.... she reminded me that when I told her about my Dx that she told me "a year from now this will bein your rearview mirror" and I was SO mired in it at the time that I couldn't imagine it ever being anything but front and center in my life. Amazing aren't we... a bunch of survivors...
Love you all! OK I better get to work so I can pay for this house.

Juneau, hope that home inspection goes like clockwork, and that soon you will be arranging furniture in your very own castle. You have certainly come a long way. We love you!

Just a quick check in, I am officially a squishy girl. But dang it have drains again because he was fixing up some skin ears I got from the first surgery. My DH is an expert at those and makes him feel needed so I guess I can handle them for a little while. Well back to napland. Ta ta for now.

Juneau, that does indeed just suck!!! If I get a period again I'm telling them to take my overies!!! There as to be a "perk" to everything we go thru. I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. I haven't experienced addiction myself but I have (had) an uncle that was an alcoholic. He drank himself to death, literally, alcohol poisoning was the cause of death. I was young but I do remember my other aunts and uncles, my parents, older cousins always so worried. He tried very hard to stay sober but just couldn't do it. You are so right it's a horrible, horrible disease. You are a strong woman to remain on your path for 7 years and to have battled BC too. You ROCK!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for home inspection bliss and furniture arranging fun!!!
Iatigger, congrats on the squishies!!!! The drains will be out before you know it!!!0 -
YAYYYYYY Latigger! Drains will be gone soon, and then you can enjoy the girls. So happy for you!

Congrats Iatigger! Squishies! So happy for you!
Juneau, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend! It is a shitty disease. My DH is a recovering alcoholic. 16 years sober!! I quit with him for support. I've recently started again, but would stop if I thought it was jeopardizing his sobriety.
Thanks everyone for your well wishes!! My breast is a little less swollen and red today. Still on pain meds, though. I've got an appt. tomorrow am with my BS, then one on Thursday with OT to learn how to prevent this from happening again.
Luanne, I'm with you on removing the ovaries! I'm hoping I'm all done.......but if I start bleeding again....that will be the last straw!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! 66 days until Michelle's run!! WoooHooooo!
Love you all!! Thanks for being my sounding board, my lifeline, my therapist, my inspiration and so much more! Is there a Sister's Day? If not, there need to be!
Does oxycodone make you weepy? Boy this post is all over the place! I better quit while I'm ahead. (((Hugs)))0 -
