Junneau, beautiful house, nothing better than coming home to your own place after a hard day at the office )0 -
Juneau, a place to call your very own! It looks so peaceful and beautiful with the lake views - are you seeing yourself sitting on that deck with a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning, feeling the sun, and breathing the fresh air? I can! Enjoy it. You so deserve this after all you've been through.

Sigh... went to a lovely mother's day brunch at my boys' pre-school this AM and was presented with all the projects/gifts they made for their mommies. One of them was a sort of fill in the blank with their words written down. The last one on the list was "I miss you when" and don't you know my 5-year old said "you go to doctors appointments." Knife in the heart... I realize in the long run this will be a blip in his radar screen and he likely won't remember. But that this has been his reality for a year just makes me sad for him. Not even for me. But... what can you do. Better mommy goes to and returns from dr's appts than cancer steals her away for good - right?! Ok - just had to share with all y'all who get it. Thanks for listening! Go find some happy!!!

Ramols, children are just so precious, so innocent, and so honest! Thanks for sharing this, and know that this experience at such a young age will make your little boy stronger, and better able to handle what life throws at him one day. He has such a wonderful example in you, Ramols!

Thanks, liefie - that helps. Made me a little teary, but in a bittersweet way. My 5 year old happens to be a wise old soul. So different from his wild (but just as loveable) little brother. At the dinner table the other night he said to me out of nowhwere (and so matter-of-factly) - Mommy, I hope you don't have to get chemo again. I almost fell over. But I pulled myself together and simply said - me too, buddy; that's the plan. At first I didn't give him lots of info, but we basically talked freely in front of him so he eventually started asking questions and I answered as honestly as I could without scaring him. I think/hope it has served him well through all of this. We just do the best we can. Thanks again.

Was looking around for some words of wisdom for us tonight and found these. They aren't credited to anyone that I could see... Enjoy!
"When you love what you have, you have everything you need. Love what you have!"
"Life is way to short to spend another day at war with yourself. Enjoy life!"
"Your words have creative power. Say it, believe it, and you'll see it!"

Thank you everyone for being in my pockets yesterday! I made it through the day yesterday but it was a long one. I was at the hospital for 6 hours in total for my colonoscopy (they told me to expect to be there for 2 1/2 hours). My doctor was running late, but they called me back and got my IV in on the first try, but when it came time for the proceedure the IV stopped working and it took 4 different people 8 try's before they could get another line to work. Then I had to wait to go back into the room since they took the next person while they got my IV to work again.
The good news is that they did not find anything during the test and all is well!!!!!!
Now I just have to get the same results next week after the mammogram. Hopefully it will go better and faster than yesterday.
Juneau - I love the house! Good luck with the inspection. Our inspection went well Monday, but there are a few things we are asking them to fix before we move in. Now we are just waiting until the appraisel to come back. Keep us posted!
Hugs to everyone!0 -
Momof3, wow, you really survived a marathon. I can't imagine where u found the strength to put in 6 hours after going through the prep the day before.
Ramols, I love the words of wisdom, and always find them helpful, thanks.0 -
Hi girlfriends. Went to ER last night, had a 102degree temp, sore, hot boob. Called the hospital and the Dr. said it was up to me whether to come in (this was 9:00ish) or wait til morning. He'll no! If this was an infection there was no way I was waiting until morning. DH brought me, By the time the supervising Dr. Saw me my boob was red with redness spreading to the chest above my other breast. They took blood, started me on a couple of antibiotics and that's all I know right now. We had been to my daughters parent -teacher conferences from about 4:30-5:30, had dinner about six,I took an Aleve for a headache and just didn't feel right. Tried to lay down, boob hurt, finally took my temp, then called the hospital. It happened so quickly! My temp is normal this a.m, so glad that's down. I'll keep you posted..........

SwgeeWI - WOW. Be gentle with yourself! Our bodies are so compromised with all these POISON drugs that there is really no telling what could happen from one minute to the next. Keep on top of all of that please.
Juneau - BIG NEWS for you and all the best withe the house. Have you heard of Angie's List or do you have that service in the part of the country where U live? It is a wonderful service that rates all types of construction folk, handymen, plumbers, electricians....the works. I always check up on service people before I hire them and look for others' recommendations. Chances are you HAVE knowledge of it but if not Google it. Good luck with the upcoming steps and stay calm, cool and collected Sister.

Hello ladies -
Not sure if this is the right place for me - but - am scheduled to go in for my mastectomy next week with reconstruction 2 weeks after, so as for now I'm surviving! Good to see everyone here being so supportive. Was diagnosed 5 weeks ago and am hoping to get through this fairly unscathed. We'll see before too long. Juneau - happen to be a fellow Alaskan?

Everyone else ....Hi and hope all is well....love ya ...❤0 -
Swgee.... Wow, I'm glad you went in. And I hope everything is ok. Will be in your pocket till you find out. Gentle loving hugs!!
Momof3 that is fantastic news!!! YAYA :-)
Dyvgrl, welcome aboard!! Yes this is an amazing supportive and fun group!! What type of reconstruction are you having? It seems all so overwhelming at this point, we all remember, but you will get thru this. We all will be in your pocket for support, advice, cyber hugs, a virtual ear and shoulder if you want to rant or lean. How ever you need us, we will be here.0 -
I almost forgot many of us were discussing the stiffness and aches we get after periods of inactivity. I saw my MO today (everything is normal, see you in 4 months) and she said its menopause?! She took the words out if our mouths about feeling like we're 90, said its the lack of estrogen in our system and as our bodies adjust it won't be as severe.
I guess the lack of estrogen is also to blame for the extra hairy legs? Lol0 -
Update.....my Breast Surgeon came in this a.m. She thinks I have lymphedema cellulitis. She said since I've had this "insult" to my breast, my body can't (in this instance) fight an infection because my lymph nodes couldn't handle the bacteria. They're just hoping I'm on the right antibiotic. I might have to go home with IV antibiotics. Not sure how long. She said she only sees about one or two cases a year. I just got lucky! She said things will get better, my body just needs time. I'm just soooo tired! Hope I can get some sleep tonight! Hugs to all! Better quit, I keep nodding off while typing, ha! Nite!

Juneau - love your new home! That's how I imagine Lake Tahoe, not New Jersey. Beautiful setting!
My phones not updating so I can't address everyone but welcome Dyvgrl. Lots of love and support here. These experts can tell you what the Doctors leave out.
Swegee - glad you went to the investigate what was going on. Proud of you and hope your fever is gone and that you are feeling better.
Ramols - love your sayings!
Yes, children say the cutest things ... Words from their hearts.
I lost my 2 hitch hiking pounds. Thanks to my Beast, the treadmill.
I baked all day so I'm ready for company! We will be in town until the 20th. Then we will be taking my Mom on a mini vacation.
Love you all, available for up coming pocket trips, with treats!0 -
Momof3 & swegi – hugs – how awful for you both. Sending positive healing vibes your way.
Dyvgrl – welcome and of course this is the place for you. You will find what you need here, love, laughter, tears, support and comfort. Best bunch of crazy girls you could wish to meet.
Hi to everyone I missed… which means most of you. Hard to sit on the computer when the outlaws are here… and was in meetings all day. Love to you all. xxxx

SwgiiWI - I am so sorry to hear about what you have been going through, but at least they say you will get better! Gentle hugs coming your way!
Dyvgrl - welcome and as others have said the waiting and unknown in the beginning are the worst part, but everyone here is there for you in any way you may need.
As far as the stiffness goes for me, it seems to be getting a little bit better lately. There are still days when it is bad, but it seems as my good days are out eating the bad now.
I am doing much better today and am really surprised that my arm is not completely black and blue from yesterday. I also had PT for my shoulder and that is doing much better also. I may even graduate from it next week.
Hugs to everyone.0 -
Dyvgrl welcome! This is the place for you to rant, cry, complain, question, celebrate and wear big pockets because we live to travel! Especially with drinks and snacks!
Swgee - I feel for you! Been there done that. Except I did it for 9 days in the hospital because the infection was being stubborn! Chest CT found a seroma was blocking the antibiotics from getting to the infection. Go figure.
I talked to my MO this week about the aches and pains and she ran a ton of bloodwork. To me the only thing out of whack was my sed rate. I'll see what she says when she calls. I don't know who mentioned it could be menopause but I had bloodwork for that too and I'm not menopausal. I hate these SE's! To those lovely scientists who find these drugs to save us can you please do something about that?! Thank you!
TGIF everyone!0 -
Karen, not sure why you wouldn't be menopausal, you had chemo! And you're on tamoxifin. You have to be lol. Are you getting periods?
Elevated sed rate is any kind of inflammation (I remember that from my days of being checked for lupus) plus it could point to arthritis. Which would explain aches and pains0 -
Dyvgrl.....welcome and sorry you have to be here. We will all be here for you through thick and thin. I have only been a part of this thread for a few months but these women are amazing and have not only taken good care of me but will support you all the way. Ask and you shall receive my Dear! Have a blessed day with peace and love!

Shianne29 - I thought I would be too considering I haven't had a period in a year. But she said bloodwork says I'm close but not quite there yet. My luck it'll come roaring back when I least expect it!
