Juneaubugg...I know this might sound disgusting, but fill up your stomach with raw vegetables, seriously, it works. I know, not everyone's cup of tea but I watched people like my husband do it and he lost a tremendous amount. AND besides, we are supposed to be eating a certain amount of our veggies raw ......sorry, the ex dietitian
and BC survivor is coming out 😜
YOU CAN DO IT GIRL...💃💃💃0 -
Scottie: I have Crohn's disease. Unfortunately I can have that much fiber. I did that 2 years on weight watchers and had a nightmarish flare up and was on prednisone to get it under control. I was eating a bag a day of baby carrots... Yum. I can eat SOME though. Think i will do that today. Just is moderation. Thanks for the reminder!!!

You ladies rock! Truly an inspiration to all of us. I am going on vacation Sunday for one week and when I get back, I will weigh in and start on this plan.
Being a week behind will mean I have to work extra hard at it...I'm so ready!!
Hugs to all!

Ramols, good luck with the squishies! You guys all sound like you are getting off to a good start on the diet thig- very resolute. I seem to have a stomach bug, so I guess its like an involuntary jump start. I' m not even interested in drinking my moring coffee today, lol.

Juneaubugg.....I used to be a registered dietitian .....I know about your Crohn's Disease....no joke....go easy on the carrots then. That sucks when it comes to,losing weight, as fibre rich food is alway a good "trick" for the belly. I guess you have no choice
but to get on that treadmill and cut back on the "goodies".....
Do you like green tea.....it's one of the things they advocate for us "BC ladies".....and it
would "trick" your stomach into thinking it was full, just like the high fibre foods???0 -
Go you, Ramols!

Aruba - my perfect drink citron and tonic w lemon:)
Ramols - get that surgery over! Good luck today! I am looking forward to hearing how it feels getting those dam brinks out:)
It is Friday!!! No doc apppointments today!!! (usually I schedule mine on Friday's because I work from home on Fridays) work up stiff as a board as usually but getting used to it:) Shoulder is still not moving so suggested to get a cortisone shot but weighing options of risk of lymphdema but doc said if you are going to get it you are going to get it? One says no shots other says do it? So confusioning? I do think my shoulder was losing up a bit during my holiday and then I get back to work and typing on my computer all day so wondering if that makes it worse? Man wish I would just wake up and dang thing would release. They stopped Pt because said it was not doing anything for me that I could do at home.
Do anyone with TE just wake up so stiff or is this from chemo etc man I am really sore in am in my neck and shoulder area. I know frozen shoulder is one thing but wake up feeling my shoulders have been up to my ears and I have to slowly move around to even get up. Once I get going a little better? Is anyone as stiff as I am? I am really thinking that is my collarbone issue as when raising my shoulder it moves whole area not seperate. Just curious? Might try shot because dang it I want to go skiing! Morning are the worse. I just bought a new pillow that is the foam type but nope not better. Could use a massage today so maybe I will see if I can get in. Dang things huh! This seems so unfair some days after all I (we) have been through. Makes me pissy some mornings:)
Going to check out another local gym today in this town to see what it has to offer. I packed my lunch yesterday and ate small meals through out the day that is a start for me.0 -
Btw love green tea! Jasmine pearl tea is my favorite it is yummy!

Way to go girls! My willpower right now is in the tanks so I'm not ready to commit to a weight loss plan "yet". So for now I'll be one of your biggest cheerleaders and I'll use your success stories and tips to inspire me to join you at a later date.
Arubas good fortune has inspired me to bug my DH into going to HardRock when my cold/bronchitis clears up. With my willpower being at an all time low right now, he better give me a small bundle of cash and then drag me out of there as soon as it's gone! LOL. Truthfully I buy a couple $1 lotto tickets almost weekly and my luck there sucks. I care about all of you too much to join your lotto group as I would only jinx it!
Cowpower sorry you have the stomach bug. That and the cold I have sure seem to be making their rounds here. Every where I go all I hear is people coughing. (Ofcourse my DH and I are 2 of them) Being near Disney, we have alot of tourists in town now kindly sharing viruses from all over the world. lol
McCook You don't have to steal my words-just take them. My DH always says I am just full of "words" so I have a lot more I can give you.
Aruba I have been on Arimedex since last July and my weight has remained pretty consistant. When I do gain it's usually 3-5lb or so from a week of eating alot of sweets, wings, pizza and beer. If I eat normally the next couple of weeks the 3- 5 lbs goes off but not a pound more. I so have a set point barrier to break through. I really have had no issues with the Arimedex though since starting it.
Ramols I am so glad to hear you are getting your squishees. Mine felt so much better right off the bat and I pray yours do too.
Juneau Thirty minutes on the treadmill a night- great start! What is it about those doctors scales anyway! I don't know anyone whose home scale ever matches the doctors scales. Even if you adjust yours when you get home, it won't match the next time anyway!
Take care ladies, good luck to those who are trying to lose and Happy Weekend!

Here is part of what i just posted this on the hair, hair, hair thread. Seems lashes and brows can keep coming out every few months PFC. anyone else have that experience here?
Butterfly: yes PFC. I kept all my brows and lashes (think I might add) throughout 4 rounds of AC. Lashes came out totally 3 weeks PFC; brows started thining then but never totally came out. I started using Brian Joseph. Google it. It's by a woman who underwent chemo. My lashes and brows came back quickly. I still use it. Maybe that will keep them from dropping again. *sigh*. This fucking cancer shit.... How many years until this ends?! Fucking poisoning ourselves to save ourselves. So insanity not fair to add hair loss. Why doesnt chemo for men's cancers cause hair loss?!?! So not fair! I am just really REALLY irritated with the hair, the weight gain, hot flashes, loss to sensation in my chest and back of my arm... Anything else coming my way or am I done yet?! Argh!
Sorry... SO CRANKY from this damn "lifestyle change". I want SUGAR and CARBS!!!!
---end if earlier post-----
Scottie: I drink what's called Raw Organic Green Tea all day. Helps a bit. Any more suggestions? Keep them coming!
Did anyone notice/like the picture I added to the description of our thread? Might try to change it occasionally.0 -
Juneaubugg.....what is raw organic tea....so curious?????

Juneau - I did notice your photo yep feel your frustration! Need. Long long vacation away from it all! Hugs! Remember to try and love your self as you just had the hardest fight of your life and you are still healing right:) most people can't image what you have been through! Hell you girls fricken crack me up... I think that is a picture of me, where did you get my picture 😳

Juneau, I did notice the pic and I understand. Somedays you just feel that way. Now for your treadmill person ... Don't laugh. I fell off the treadmill once and bruised my ass till purple black. For your information ... When on a treadmill do not attempt to strip off a sweater ... Apparently walking in a treadmill is not like walking on ground and you "pause" enough to lose your pace ... OUCH. And yes the cord stopped the machine but I was thrown off anyway.

Oh Jo....you poor thing, but America's /Canada's funniest home videos comes to mind....lol,,,forgive me😘

OMG .. Now a days I flash my breast but that had me flashing my ass to anyone that wanted to see my bruise

2Fried and Juneau - love the videos, I am closer to the second. Juneau - I did see the cartoon you added and love it, seems like I have said that a lot lately - "Really, now!" It never seems to be just one thing, does it?
Juneau - also like your new avatar - your hair is really growing fast. I haven't gotten my biotin yet but need to get on that this weekend.
Ramols - thinking that with all of us in your pockets today they may have been a little incredulous when they weighed you preop
McCook - I'm wondering if the tamoxifen is contributing to the stiffness that you are feeling in the morning, maybe that combined with the typing you need to do with your work and possibly a bit of tension you are feeling while you wonder about that clavicle?
Have a good weekend everyone!

Scottie: oh that's not good! But I need them at work. Over 40 and can't see. They are progressives so I can read and then look through plain old glass for distance. Got tired of the on and off, and on and off thing all day at work.

Thank you girls for the morning chuckle. I haven’t stopped laughing reading your posts – what a great way to start the day.
Chrisrenee: it matters not about the past – only today and now is what matters. Below is something a friend of my Mum’s sent me.. I have it posted on my fridge. I find it a good reminder when I am pissed about all the crap that happened in 2012. OK wont post ?? It is a picture of a timepiece and at the 12, 3, 6, 9 hours it says NOW and next to it he has written "this is the only 100% accurate timepiece in the world". NOW is what matters.
Aruba: bottoms up… and I have a lot of bottom to up… ha ha !!
Juneau: I have to agree with Scottie about your avatar... but I do wonder, are you looking to spank someone? But you look great. And I hear ya about the progressives - I used to get so pissed off taking glasses on and off and then wondering where the heck they were (usually on the top of my head).
Scottie: I love that you’ll be our cheerleader. Thanks for the tip on the raw veggies – and don’t hold back on any other tips you may think will help us.
Ramols: good luck today.
Outdam: have a wonderful, well deserved vacation – where you off too?
Cowpower: hope you feel better soon… but like you say, good kick start to weight loss.
Mcook: That sucks about your shoulder and getting conflicting advice doesn’t help eh? Do you have the option of having an ergonomic specialist looking at your work station – sometimes its something as simple as who you sit, what you sit on, taking breaks etc.
OK did I say I would post our start weights today or Monday: Darn chemo brain is still with me - well I will be blaming chemo brain for many months to come. I just feel such a bozo at times for not remembering the simplest of things.
Oh! well… onwards and upwards. Have a wonderful, wonderful, rested, minimal SE weekend. OK off to clean house so I have the weekend relatively free before work Monday.
Love you ladies xxx

Speaking of massage.....it sounds wonderful! Is there anything to be careful of? Can massage cause/worsen LE? I don't have it and don't want it!

I am with you on the weight loss but I will give you my loss/gain ... I sorry but not sharing my start weight .... I weigh in on Thursdays at WW so for me Fridays are perfect ...

Juneau I'm glad you said you just added that pic because I just saw it this am and thought I was losing it because I never noticed it before. On a similar note I keep this little plaque on my desk to help me keep my perspective from day to day that says;
"Some days you're the dog, some days you're the hydrant!"

I agree with Tazzy, lots of smiles and laughs from many of you today. I have joined Scottiee as a second cheerleader and am already impressed with the very fact that you are even starting your weight loss programs after what you have all been through. So I will be here cheering each of you on! Juneaubugg, I noticed the new cartoon right away. And your new avatar. I have tried with help from others to change mine but frustration got me every time. I took photos from FB etc. as advised and still don't know why the one I have works.
I saw my PS surgeon for the first time yesterday and feel really good as first time in ages I feel like there is a plan. I will not start rads in Feb. (my RO put down what he called a "soft date" of Feb. 25) and instead will have my mx, axillary dissection and immediate T/E reconstruction first. I have been unsure of whether I wanted to go this route but yesterday it all came together and I am happy with the plan. I will be on Armidex right after chemo ends so my MO seems happy with that protection and my BS seems to think that this plan is fine too. So sometime in March once the secretaries for BS and PS coordinate OR times I will have surgery. Two more cycles of Taxol first then a break.
