    Good morning everyone!!!!!

I haven't posted lately, but I have read everyday. I went back to work last week and my DH was away so I was very busy to begin with, when my Dad was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. He is fine now, but had to stay for 3 days leaving me to help care for my 93 year old grandma and my Mom. My DH is back home and I had the best nights sleep so hopefully this is the start of better times.

I am in all pockets that are needed and you all are truly my sisters!!!!! Love you all!!!!!

Just spent some time catching up on all the posts. I had an eventful summer, which was not my intention. Got a staff infection in my leg, the same one that I had developed a blood clot in between surgery one and two. Kept my mind focused on potentially worse things than cancer, and after meeting with a vascular surgeon must wear the ultimate in fashion, compression stockings. Not bad considering I thought I might need surgery. Now that this crisis has passed I spend a bit more time worrying about cancer (professional worrier) all good with oncologist last week, next appointment mammogram in November. That will likely put me over the edge. But reading your posts I realize how lucky I (we) are and need to realize it's all doable, not always pleasant, but all of you (me too) have come out on the other side and are still moving forward. When I think back to last December, and where I was mentally with all the unknowns, I'm thrilled to be where I'm now. Wishing you all continued good health and positive thoughts.

I only have a few mins right now but have caught up. Welcome is it Joan or Joanne???

Kuxiel; that sucks. Hang in there

I go see my MO tomorrow. She's gave from maternity leave. Twin girls!

Speaking if girls..... Drum roll.... My tits look FANTASTIC! Well the way they lay is perfect now. I haven't seem my nipple/areola yet. I asked her to make it a bit smaller to mat h the one left during my nipple sparing mx on the other side. But she sits just right. Perky. I see a lack of bras in my future!

I've also been on that no carb zero sugar diet for two weeks and I am absolutely losing weight again. I slipped right up a skirt today that hasn't gotten past my knees in years! Down to 165. Feels good. No running for three weeks and since I'll be blind following my eyelids Wednesday, I doubt I'll be wanting to go for a run. I'm. SO SCARED AND SO EXCITED FOR MY ETE LIFT!!!!

Ok. Bedtime. Will try to comment more tomorrow on all I read. Love you ladies!!!! (Joanne-did you gave your walk today?)

YAYYY Juneau! So glad you are happy with the results! Congrats on the weigh loss too. When you feel better, please tell us more about the zero sugar zero carb diet, and what exactly you are eating. I'm also losing weight, but it is painfully slow. Would love to accelerate it a little  - lol.

Hi everyone! I have a lot of catching up to do. Wish I could read everyone's posts now? Things have been so nutso with intensity of tests and treatments. But what really knocked me hard was the steroid Decadron used to control brain edema. Did any of you who had taxane-type chemos take this steroid? I had 4mg during chemo last year. Well this time I was on 16mg for two weeks! I became chronically sleepless and crrrazy. My husband got me through it, and once the doctor said I could start tapering down to 12mg, I got the mental clarity to write out for the nurses how bad the problem had gotten. So then they sped up the tapering, down to only 6mg.

So I can concentrate a little better, but I still need to be able to get a good night's sleep. I took prescribed amounts of Ambien and Ativan, and that got me about four hours tonight.

Thankfully, I will be done with rads by the end of this week? Chemo is much easier than last year, and I did get improvements from the last two treatments, so I'm actually looking forward to seeing how much cancer ass it can kick. Next treatment is Wednesday.

That's it in a nutshell for me. I'm in kind of an "acute" treatment phase of knocking the cancer hard upfront. I'm 43, otherwise healthy, and my body can handle it.

BTW, you guys are always with me. I wear my bracelet from Believe every day, and at night it sits in a special spot on my nightstand near me. It reminds me of the circle of 2013 survivors and how you have been pulling for me! Thank you!

Not posting often but do read all of yours. Stride, good to hear from you and Decadron is indeed wicked and not sleeping is so hard.

A bit of copy/paste here. I just came from the hospital where I had two procedures. One was a biopsy of two 1.2 cm nodules in my thyroid and the other was a redo of an U/S of a small lump on my breast just below my scar.

Thyroid biopsy went fine but it was tricky and radiologist said I have a small thryoid and carotid artery is close on one side and artery to brain close on the other side. He did have to work at getting enough material for pathology but seemed to think nothing wrong. He then did the U/S on my breast and says the lump is very small and not concerned about that either. Said that he could biopsy but chance of infection and with T/E don't need that. So I see the PS on the 18th for measurements for exchange in late Nov. or December. I will see what he says. Now trying to relax though not easy.

I feel like the roller coaster ride never ends. But I guess it will!

Stride, thanks so much for checking in. Thinking about you lots. You sound really well, and fighting like a true warrior. WAY TO GO! What a great example to the rest of us.

Marianelizabeth, good to hear things are okay with you too, and that you can relax for the time being. Easier said than done, for sure. Hopefully this will end for you in the near future. Read about hubby's voyage so far - amazing. The adventure of a lifetime!

I remember being on low doses although I couldn't remember a damn thing at the time!!! Always in your pockets and sending love, strength and peace!!

Stride your strength amazes me. I bow to you.

Juneau - I am jealous.  I keep going back and forth about reconstruction. I had a lumpectomy and now my right one sits higher than the left. It's like before kids/after kids. I really want to have it done but DH doesn't want me to go through anymore surgeries if I don't have to. I just don't know.

So last week my family and I did our Bermuda trip. My avatar is my view on the beach where I plopped my butt every afternoon after doing the tourist thing all morning. We stayed at Elbow Beach and it was amazing. So nice to have someone come and say "can I get you a beverage?" We went through caves and my DD had her hair braided and shopped. But the best was we took the kids swimming with dolphins. How happy they were. Best vaca ever! I can't wait to go back!

Hugs to everyone! In pockets with tropical goodies for those who need it!

Stride- so glad you checked in, been thinking about you.

Hi gorgeous ladies! Hope everyone is doing well. Today has been a hell of day. Seems like the more I tried to work harder/more efficient, the more work that came through the door. I need a weekend from my Monday already.  I should be excited today as today my hubby should be coming home. So I'm hoping he will be home at least Saturday. If not it will be the following Sunday. Ugh, makes for a long 36 days. Enough of my complaining. Hope everyone has a great night love you all!

Hello Ladies. Just checking in. I had my shingles shot today. It stung a little but that went away rather quickly. The best part was the price. It was free, not even a co pay. I said Thank-You and quickly left. Sigh of relief, I had heard the shot was expensive. We are with Kaiser here in CA.

Karen: my DH preferred I don't have surgery, but it's not unnecessary from where I stood looking at my breasts. It's my body and I need to feel complete, not butchered. Take care of YOU, let him deal with his feelings about it.

In the car driving to get my eyelids lifted!!! I'M FREAKING OUT!! Thank god for the Valium and pain killer she had me take 15 mins ago. Hoping they kick in soon... CAUSE IM FREAKING OUT! Hope the recovery isn't too bad... But SO EXCITED FOR THE OUTCOME. Ok... She will also unveil my areola/nipple from the lift last week. (I'm sure lifting a lot if stuff. LOL!). I asked her to try to match the nipple that was spared and made a bit smaller from my mx last year. We shall see.

Oh! And I lost 2 pounds this week! 163 now. And that's with no exercise. So this no carb no sugar thing is working. And I must say, I'm adjusting and not feeling to crazy about it anymore.

Ok gotta go. Wish me luck. Might be a few days before I can SEE to post.

Juneau - I'm so freaking jealous of the eyelid lift. If I were still working I think I would have to splurge. Congrats on new nip and lift on other. How did nip work turn out?

Believe - I need to ask about the shingles shot. I know my pharmacy can give them but don't know about cost. Insurance thru DH's work. I doubt my MO would object since no active treatment. But then again he might not encourage it and I sure would want it paid for. I think I meet the age limit; will be 61 next week.

Stride - I've been negligent in wishing you the best at kicking that crappy recurrence to the curb. You sound like a fighter and such an attitude. You go girl. Check in as much as you're able.

Yea Juneau! Can't wait to see pics. I'm still kicking around the idea about reconstruction. I know if I want it he will support it. Like all good hubby's he just doesn't want to see me in pain.

Lumpygoats - when I asked my MO about the Shingles Shot, she referred me back to my Primary Care Doctor. I didn't know age was a consideration. I'm 63. I didn't ask about the price in advance but I know so many friends that got Shingles, who were miserable that I thought it was worth getting protection. I was told the shot only avoids Shingles half of the time but if you get them, they are less severe. Did I answer your questions?

Juneau - you are so brave! Hope your recovery is a breeze. I'm jealous but have no guts.

Karen - good luck on your decision making. No guts no glory.

Make it a great day. Hugs to all!

Stride SO glad you checked. Prayers and support until the treatments knock the big C on it's butt and off of yours!

Believe and luvmygoats- my regular doc says if you have insurance most insurances will cover the shingles shot once you are 60  but he said to get it before going on medicare because only those with part D or something like that will have coverage. (I have no idea what part D is but it sounds like most people don't have that kind-seems a bit crazy to me with medicare not covering the vaccine ; I would think  the medicare expenses could be alot higher paying to get someone through a case of the shingles than the shot.) My insurance will cover it too but I ask the Walgreens pharmacist for the heck of it, about how much it cost without insurance and she said between $200-$250 now and indicated that it used to be even more. She confirmed that 60 is the magic age if you want your regular health insurance to cover it. Believe now that you had yours I'm going to go get mine as soon as I get rid of this rotten summer cold that I'm blaming on Aruba bringing to Florida. lol (Aruba I hope you're feeling better as these summer colds do stink! Hope your dad is doing good-I'm trying to stay away from mine for a couple of days so that he doesn't catch this)

Juneau Glad it's all working out like you had wanted with the recon and the eyes. I'm sure everything will look great!Even though you'll still have nice perky boobs in your twilight years, I think when you get into your 70's though you should consider letting your eyes age gracefully. I thought of that because I saw Mary Tyler Moore on  some show last month and her eyes looked so stretched and just too weird for 76 or what ever she is. lol But for now go for it!

Well in the pockets of those in need! Thinking of you all.

2fried; you can only do this surgery once. Once it's gone it's gone. I didn't mess with anything other then removing the excess skin on my eye lids. My brows, crows feet and all my other lovely signs of a life well lived will be left exactly as they are.

Here is a photo. Before and after. I'm getting more and more purple. REALLY DARK PURPLE!! I'm icing it and resting. I'm going to look FAB-U-LOUS when I heal!!!

    Love you all!!!!
