    Tazzy,

Pray all goes well with your surgery. I guess I really need to learn to drive our motor home. You just never know when an accident can happen. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you have people to take care of you.

Tazzy; that SUCKS!  At least it was after the wedding and not before.

Marianeliz; rest up.  You'll be ok in a few weeks.

So I think I'm going to have recon surgery in nov to my left natural breast. It's still a bit smaller then my new right implanted breast.  We need to go up a size on the implant on the left.  My husband doesn't want me to touch it. But it bugs me.

My weight loss dr put me on a medication that I recently found out during my annual physical; can result in reducing the effectiveness of tamoxifen. WTF!  No wonder I was losing weight.  The medication causing me to gain (hold on to it) was being rendered ineffective. *sigh*. I stopped taking it, but part of me doesn't care about the risk; I just so desperately want to lose more weight.

Sorry I've been gone so long.... Not really sure why...

Hugs to all. Tazzy; let us know how you're doing!!

june - how much weight have you lost on the meds? and what kind of weight loss meds are you taking? I am desperate enough to look into as I can't lose a pound and have 50 of them to lose!!

Tazzy - yuk!  The bright side is that your company can take care of you - hopefully. I'm in for your pocket party!  Do you get a pretty colored cast? I guess we are catching on to why sensible shoes are popular, my DH keeps suggesting them. I tell him they are for old ladies. I wonder how long I can get away with that.

We are in Laughlin until the end of November. Still a little warm here. I feel for my poodle with her fur coast.

An acquaintance here had chemo, then a lumpectomy, then chemo again and now rads. Doesn't that order seem a bit odd? She's a young mother of small children. I will see if there is anything I can do to help her and suggest our site.

Juneau - I'm not taking my anti depressants either. First off I didn't think I was depressed, secondly they cause weight gain and I don't seem to need any help in that area. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Any luck in your hunt for a new job?

MarianElizabeth,Momof3, Ireland,  Lumpygoats and the rest of my sisters - always nice to hear from you.

    Hugs!

Marianelizabeth - how exciting - less than three weeks to Nepal! Glad you have that long for your foot to be good as new, so glad re: good results for you

Tazzy - I have been thinking of you all day

Juneau - so good to see you posting. Wow re: weight loss med and interaction with tamoxifen, not fair! Hard decision to make re: reconstruction

I won't mention all as I'm sure I'll miss some, wonderful to see all the familiar names - hi to everyone!

I see a geneticist on Wednesday this week - they will decide if they feel there is sufficient reason to go forward with testing for Lynch and Cowden's.

As Luvmygoats mentioned I also rolled my ankle late June - Eversion and inversion injuries, initial diagnosis was three torn ligaments laterally and avulsion fracture medially but healing isn't progressing as it should. I had an ultrasound and x-ray about two weeks ago followed by a bone scan the next day. Ultrasound and bone scan took extra long and the radiologist was consulted for both. The left foot/ankle had a lot of uptake on the bone scan. Next step is MRI (not easy to get in a timely way here) but I am seeing my GP who is a sports medicine physician in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping she can get things on track

Tazzy. still there in your pocket and hoping things will go smoothly.

Websister, I hope you are able to see your GP even sooner and see where things are at. Another waiting game for you. Did the radiologist have anything to say about the uptake? I know I had uptake on my right tibia but that is due to the healing long ago a really bad fracture and bone grafts for it.

Nice to hear from all of you too. I know many have moved right on from BCO but it is still part of my daily living!

Tazzy - I also am still in your pockets, hope you aren't in too much pain and that you are able to update us soon

Marianelizabeth - re: radiologist and uptake - I have had three bone scans since BC diagnosis so he compared all three. His report says 'no convincing evidence of bone mets' - there are two new spots on my spine that he suggests are facet arthrosis. The left ankle had increased uptake on lateral and medial malleolus, more laterally but the uptake considered too homogenous to indicate fracture; first metatarsal had uptake he thinks may be stress fractures from compensation and there was uptake between the first and second metatarsal that he does not know what it is, possibly arthrosis. Lower areas of uptake to both knees and right thumb joint - considered arthrosis. He suggests the bilateral ankle uptake may be from synovitis.

From the report I sound like a possible arthritic mess, don't I?

I am going to try to get into see my GP sooner, here's hoping

Still in hospital - thanks for being in my pockets yesterday - could feel the party and it was great.   Surgery went well.   5 inch place and 5 screws in left side and 2 screws in right side.  Have a splint and bandages and will get a boot in a couple of weeks.   Doc said I did a right number on myself, also chemo makes your bones more brittle - thanks cancer - the gift that keeps giving.   So now just want to get home and start recovery.   No weight bearing for 2-3 weeks, then minimal - full recovery time approx. 3 months.  Trip to San Fran this weekend cancelled - bummer !!  Shame for the Outlaws too.  But is what it is.

Love and hugs to all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

good to hear from you, Tazzy - you did do a number on yourself! Boo re: having to cancel the San Francisco trip and to length of recovery, especially the non-weight bearing part. Hope you are able to head home soon. Agree re: the gift that keeps on giving.

Take good care, sounds like you are going to need lots of behind the shed time. Sending hugs

Tazzy glad all went well. Good thing the outlaws are there to help out. San Francisco will be there when you're ready. It'll give you something to look forward to. Now rest up!

Juneau - I'm curious how your MO felt about you going off tamoxifen?   I am also struggling with the weight and my MIL put it to me like this when I wanted to stop taking it "you are putting it on because of a drug that could save you"  scared the bejesus out of me! Not judging just curious. Are you doing it till some weight comes off? Are you worried it'll come back once you go back on? They should give us a year before putting us on it so we can lose the weight from chemo steroids! We can lose too much weight so when we start the tamoxifen and put the weight on people can tell us how good we look!

Marianne - can't wait to see pictures!

    Enjoy your day!

    Karen

Wow Tazzy, lots of hardware. Is the silver lining that you get to be off work for awhile? Yes that gift~~hmmm.

Websister, I can tell you too are a nurse~~lots of lingo and do hope things sort out and answers get answered both with leg and genetics.

Believe that order does seem a bit odd?

Juneau did I read it wrong but are you really off Tamoxifen?

We are off to a nearby island (Bowen Island~~20 minute ferry ride) for a few days leaving today thanks to friends who have offered their place to us.  I think it is much needed time with my husband more than anything.

    Hugs to all of you!

Tazzy, wow you sure did a number ... I am glad the surgery went well and wishing a speedy recovery.

Marianelizabeth .. have a great time on your next trek.  I am jealous of your energy.

Juneau  ... wow you are going to risk things just to lose weight?  I understand the frustration because I have put on weight .. I struggled with my weight before my diagnosis but I am sticking to it for another 3 years.  sorry for speaking my mind ...

Wow... the drugs must be good.   I could've sworn I responded to Juneau and to thank everyone for their well wishes.... not here though - ha ha !!

First of all Juneau???   Is it really worth it to lose a few pounds?   I'd love to lose 20 but like Karen it would scare the bejesus out of me to.   Anyway I only have about 6 tamox left then on Anastrozole.   Not that that makes a difference.   Rather than thinking of losing a few pounds think of your DH and how he'd feel if you got bc or any cancer again - could you do that to him for the sake of losing weight?

Take care Tassy glad your surgery went well!!

How long were you on Tamoxifen, and is your MO suggesting you to switch now.

I would love to lose weight Tamoxifen keeps an extra 10lbs on me...No matter what I cut out, the number on the scale doesn't change.

I totally understand!  They tell us not to gain weight, it increases the risk of recurrence, increases the risk of lymphedema, etc etc and then they put us on this evil drug that causes weight gain!!  So which is worse??

I am hanging in there on the tamox but I've gained almost 30lbs already and I never had weight issues before, even stayed the same all through chemo.  I eat healthy and exercise.  It's just the most frustrating thing ever!

Juneau......please consider the words from Jo and Tazzy.....your husband wants you here a few pounds heavier or lighter.....who cares!!!!!   It's not worth the risk.

Tazzy.....so happy you are recovering well. Yes, recovering at home is always the best.

Websister.....sorry you are going through all this....hope they can get to the bottom of it all.

Marian.....as usual you put me to shame....lol.....have a wonderful time.

Ireland.....I'm off to Scotland at the end of the month....if you want to send me a PM with your phone number and/or address .....who knows I might make a side trip.....lol......haven't been to Ireland in years...love it there.

    Best wishes to all....

    P. S.  I took Juneau's message as meaning she was quitting the weight-loss drug, not the tamoxifen.  But if anyone did quit it because of the weight thing, I would understand.  I haven't reached that point yet but I won't allow it to put 50 pounds on me, that would be way into the obese category and surely a higher risk than skipping the drug!

Jennie, according to what I've read, our meds still trump weight gain when it comes to survival.
