scottie- so you are GIVING US PERMISSION to eat chocolate? Now that's my type of motivation right there!
Websister- glad your results came out good. What are they going to do about the hemoglobin???
Blessings- Welcome to our functional/dysfunctional family!
Cowpower- absolution, I'm all about sinning right now if it comes in the form of beer and chocolate. haha
Gmafoley- yes sugar and carb withdrawals are horrid. You will get past it. I haven't had a coke in 9 days. I so want a a coke, water just isn't doing it for me. Hope your day gets better.
It is freaking snowing here in my neck of the woods. not a big fan of snow, all the idiots come out to play. I don't want to play with them. It's a chilly 29 here, snow and sleet mixture all around. I'm ready to go home and tackle jillian already, work off some of my frustration from driving in. Hope everyone has a good day, i will check in when i can.

Nope - just a killer headache and ache all over. feels kinda like the flu, but not .. Got to get the crap out of my system... I have been eating too much "comfort food". Day three is always the worst, plus I cut down my caffiene by one diet coke - double wammy I guess.. Lots of water, MLD and I will feel better in another day or so... Just couldn't stand gaining anymore weight... of course, if my ONC nutritionist knew I was doing this, she would have a cow.. Oh well...
EDIT: I have gone from @15 cans of diet coke a day to 3 cans - took me a year and a half to do it under the help of my ONC nutritionist. I just took one more away - so I'm down to 2 cans a day!

Chrisrenee ......don't get too excited here....you may have two pieces of very dark chocolate if you fought with the "bitch" and won....lol. However.....the "step away from the beer" motto still stands. 👀
0 -
scottie- not a big chocolate eater, so that's not a motivator for me. Not a big drinker anymore, it was just fun to have the 1/2 beer. So I don't have to have that anymore, it's really out of my system. It's the coke that I miss the most. So you don't have to worry about me drinking the beer again. I will find something that is a 'small" motivator for me.

Chrisrenee.....how about my idea of leaving a favourite pair of jeans that you can't get into right now outside your closet and then try them on every one or two weeks...always worked for me.

GmaFoley.....wow....no wonder you're going through withdrawal.. I'm sorry, but caffeine
withdrawal is short lived, thankfully. Congrats from 15 now down to 2.....that's amazing....hang in there...the headaches will pass.0 -
Good Morning!
Slept in today till 7 am yeah! Usually work has me up at 4:45 and since I am traveling got to sleep in a bit.
Websister - that is good news about Heart. Hopefully your numbers come up soon on hemoglobin. Is there anything they can do to help with that? Hope SE from tamaxifen are non exsist.
Gma - hope ur pain goes away soon.
Iast week I was really good about not drinking coffee and only green tea and I think it helped me drop a couple of pounds but this week I have been back to my coffee habit so need to get back off that. As I sit here with my first cup of the day:( I actually like tea better but coffee is quicker to make in the am so just being lazy.
I posted this link a while ago about a group called aboveandbeyondcancer.org I am waiting for their next adventure so I can put my application in. Check it out some time it is pretty amazing. If you are in IA or MN there are some events coming up in this area.
Well hope everyone has a great day! I better get moving!0 -
scottie- i got rid of all my "small clothes" over the summer in my fit of rage about BC. I would just be happy if I lost weight not inches right now.
0 -
Chrisrenee....as you know, I was a registered dietitian before....we never focused on weight so much as we focused on inches and exercise, plus healthy food, of course.

Mcook – I agree. This working lark wears you out and takes time away from these boards.
Believe: wooo hoooo – what wonderful news… And a good trade for the evening. You deserve that.
Websister: back every day this week. Still shortened hours although don’t feel like that yet. Great news your heart is OK. I remember my haemoglobin being low – couldn’t do 6 stairs without feeling out of breath.
Welcome over Blessings – good to have you here. love you posts on the other threads. Let me know if you want to join in our weight program… or join the cheerleaders.
Cowpower: I was also raised a catholic (lapsed now). I remember saying to my Mum when I was a kid “if I go to confession and am absolved, does that mean I can be naughty again until my next confession?” Hope you managed to finish the wine before you put it down.
Liefie: good luck with the Docs appts. I agree the less we see of them the better.
Scottie: in your pockets and NO you cannot find another thread where you can post about your chocolate indulgence… we will find you. Practice what you preach sister
Chrisrenee: I try to focus more on how my clothes fit… any little helps and now I can at least do buttons up on my trousers.
Hello to anyone I may have missed. Need to get my arse in gear and get ready for work. Chat later ladies. Have a great Tuesday.
Peace, love & hugs xxxx

Thanks Tazzy!! Sure needed to read that since my scar is humongous! Thanks Stride also! I"m new on this thread but Junebug...I'm jumping in on that group hug!! We all need as many as we can get. Hope you all have a good day. Onc appt today ..6mth(really is 7) mth check up to start. Is quite up in the air as what will be done for the check up... hope he does lots of tests just to be sure!!

Tazzy....I'm off work today with a sore throat (hard to teach) I think my two pieces of dark choc. would really help 👍

Chrisrenee, so you renamed your treadmill Jillian? LOL! OOOOOO, I'm so glad she's not our cheerleader! She is downright scary. Scottiee1 is so much nicer! But yes, the Biggest Loser is a good program to watch for motivation. Those people exercise for four and a half hours a day - if it was me they would have called an ambulance the very first day, and that would have been the end of it.
A quick breakfast for me and then off to the pool. Have to keep moving. My house needs a huge clean-up too. Lots of stuff that's not used, clothes that don't get worn any more, so a big sorting out has to take place, and stuff taken away. Does that count as exercise too, Scottiee?

Cher....good luck today....take a deep breath.....I remember my first follow-up with the MO....stressful, to say the least.

Hi sisters. I'm new on this thread but feel very old now that it's all over. I'm sure glad to see this one that Junebug started as now I finally do feel like a survivor! Will be starting Femara & really need to get into stopping this blasted comfort eating!! I went through a long journey of infection & trauma from it & Medical Prof's that made too many errors...(ok won't get into that right now lol.. I survived & healed with a few weeks to spare to start chemo...all over & done now) Led a more sedatary lifestyle before due to chronic pain from other illness/disease but know I totally have to get into doing something, walking is a start for me. But I've been on a kick of peanut butter & honey sandwiches..oh brother!!! Lost 40lbs during my illness with infec's but gained 8 back. I do look at the numbers but mainly it's how I feel in my clothes too as many say here.
I have too many truffle chocolates left as I have 1-3 once in a while. Ok...yes I'll go buy some healthier foods!! so hard for all of us with it being winter & wanting those comfort foods is high on the list due to the dreary weather uggg. ps..since chemo ended I've been on a salty crave! Living alone is just as bad as with someone.. almost worse as the fight is with myself...lol
love n hugs

Thanks Scottie & Tazzy!! yep taking ya'll in my pockets today! Scottie..chocolate addiction..any excuse will do..but remember (oh great now I have to remember too)
definition of insanity: doing the same things over again expecting different results (ugg)

Cher....as a newbie on this thread, you have to know that all left over goodies have to be sent to myself and Marian.....we are the small % trying to GAIN weight....lol

Scottie - only good results tomorrow! (positive thinking worked for me - it has to work for you too) Cher - good luck today. I don't know what I was expecting at my appt. but after 2 three month appt's I've been put on a 4 month apart schedule. Sigh of relief. Not really sure what they are looking for at these appts but I think it is an attitude check up, do others feel the same way Our bodies heal on their own time frame, usually not fast enough for any of us.
Funny about the beer and chocolate. I've never been a beer drinker or any acholocol but always loved chocolate. The Arimidex has taken away my sweet tooth. That is probably a good thing, altough I miss it and test a Hershey's kiss every now and then to see if it is back - it's not. Can't drink coffee or tea either but I find that hot water (especially since its to cold) works just fine with a slice of lemon and cinnamon gives the water flavor but it doesn't disolve. Fresh vegetables are actually tasting good to me and so it fruit. Good for me to - go figure!
Blessings - so glad you found us! Angels must have lead you here. It's the spot on earth! You will fit right in. Yes, join our excercise group! The More the Merrier. The Cheer Leaders are wonderful and our dietician does it with a smile.
Juneau - where are you?
I was raised Catholic too, sadly also lapsed, but God and his Angels are always in my head and heart.
I missed one day and have more reading to catch up! I was on Cloud 9 when I got home and found the postcard in my mail. I felt so normal - back to reality today.

Believe....thank you.....wish I had my angel bracelet to accompany me tomorrow, but it has not arrived yet...everything from the States to Canada takes so long...grrrrr
I was just thinking that too....Juneaubugg....you are very quiet?????0 -
Hi ladies! Hope everyone is doing well! Don't post much but read your posts all the time. I have a question for all the ladies that have had mo followups. I finished chemo nov 7. Had my 6mo bs followups in dec from may BMX. She said all is good see u in 6 mo. I am getting really nervous for my 3mo mo followup in feb. I have no idea what to expect. What do they do. Will she send me for scans? Ugh. I hate this anxiety. And I still have a month til the appt! I guess this is what the rest of my life is going to be :-(
Thnx
Melissa0 -
Melissa.....at my 6 month follow-up my MO just asked me how I was doing on Letrozole
and examined me, mostly my breasts, neck and underarms .....did check my legs and abdomen, but briefly. Done....told me to come back in 6 months, which will be in February.
Don't quote me but I have heard other gals on here say they don't order scans or blood
work if you are stage......only if you are symptomatic. I'm sure other gals will come along, perhaps with different experiences. Don't forget I'm in Canada...may be some differences in procedures.0 -
Cher- you are never alone, we are always with you!
Scottie - your Angels are flying as quickly as their wings can. I've since found out, it's a 10 day journey to Canada. It shouldn't be long now.
Melissa - I feel your anxiety about your appt. Ofcourse we all feel the same way but after my two appts I almost laugh at my anxiety. My doctor only reviews my blood tests, which were already emailed to me in advance. I can read and see that I'm in the normal range before I get there. She answers any ques that I have come up with. She does a breast exam, says my breast will eventually be normal again ( still reddish and thick from the radiation) and then says she will see me in a few months. Does anyone else have a different experience? I'm going to try not to stress too much next time. We have already survived hell, what else can they do to us?0 -
Liefie- That's always been her name, but when I have to get on her bitch is always what I call her. I chose Jillian because of TBL, I love her!
Cher, Welcome to our group. Yes, send all sweets (and beer) to scottie and marian! They are our wonderful cheerleaders.
Melissa- Do not stress about the F/U appt. I go every 3 mos right now and all mine does is check my lungs, swelling in legs, bp, goes over medications and orders lab. Mine says that she will not be ordering anything unless symptoms arise or labs come back abnormal. I know that I will get scans ordered nearing the end of my 5 yrs on AI's and then will reevaluate if I need to be on it longer or not.
scottie- hope you are feeling better soon.
Tazzy- have fun at work.
Mcook- get some sleep!

Walking through the halls headed to lunch and smell McDonald's trench fries in the air. Yes I know the difference, don't they know my willpower is dwindling right now because I'm hungry??
0 -
I haven't been to McDonalds in months. You can do it - I hope you kept walking. After all, they don't serve beer!

Cher, Melissa, welcome. I had my first MO followup last week and was terrified. Ended up chatting about Quorn recipes and my son's college applications. Strange world! I go back in 3 mos. Next month is first mammo on remaining breast... getting terrified all over again, sigh...
Tazzy, got that whole glass of wine down in one gulp on my way to put it down. We may be lapsed catholics, but I think that the guilt stays permanent in our blood:) Hope you have a good dayat work.0 -
Believe- I did keep walking. It was hard not to start opening up doors trying to find them! lol. No they don't have beer, but our local Pizza Hut does! Which I'm trying to stay away from. Trying being the operative word. We had pizza the other night, i had a couple slices. I hadn't had canadian bacon and pineapple in so long ( hey i had fruit on there give me credit).
Cowpower- My next appt is in March and my hubby WILL NOT be going with me. Everytime he goes, I get a new test or accessorie (LE treatment and sleeve and gauntlet), I think I'm going to ban him from going with me ever again.
0 -
I just can't give up coffee (switched to 1/2 caff), dark chocolate (in moderation), and red wine (drink less). Everything else I have been good with. These things make me happy! LOL.
0 -
Chris - you are funny. Not sure pineapple counts on pizza. Lets see what Scottie has to say.
My DH only went to my first appts with all my new doctors. I think he's relieved not to go anymore and that works for me BUT if he keeps buying stuff with Soy I'm going to let him go back to my MO. My first two appts I took tons on literature on Soy being ok and she said a big fat NO. I'd try again if any if you have any contrary info. I've convinced myself its fattening and so far it's working for me to give it up.0
