This morning I saw my Myofascial Therapist again - I LOVE HER!!! I am making definite progress. I have some complications from my exchange last August, and the first time she saw me, she said "I can help you."
How refreshing is THAT?
One of my issues is swelling in my left boob. (Notice I said "boob"...I am claiming these implants as my OWN!)
Anyway, we've been doing MLD on it, and I have a very expensive Belisse bra and Jovi-Pak that don't do squat. (Got them from my first LE therapist at Kaiser.)
So today, the MT and I brainstormed ways to use compression on this swelling. We had tried the Belisse, with the Jovi-Pak wadded up in a weird configuration, and it just felt awful, painful, and totally useless.
Then the MT suggested cutting off the "tail" of the Jovi, and shoving the main part inside my sports bra. When I got home, I found out my sports bra is cut too low so didn't do that.
THEN, I remembered I'd bought two mastectomy camis that I never wore!
I took the two fiberfill foobs that came with one of them, pulled out some of the stuffing so that they were the same thickness as the Jovi, shoved them into the mastectomy cami pocket, smoothed it out, and by golly, there was my padding, right where I wanted it.
And to get more compression (since those camis are really stretchy) I put on my sports bra on top of the whole thing.
So I'm slightly bulky on the left, and definitely lopsided, but at least it's comfortable.
I'm so proud of myself for thinking outside the box!!! (And no, this therapist doesn't think I have LE, either.)
Anyone here with a Belisse or other compression bra?

McCook let us know how the ER goes.
Yikes, I can't keep up with you all. GmFoley and Scottiee, with laryngitis; my husband would probably enjoy that, at least for ahile.
Juneau, I copy/pasted the recipe to a Word doc but it took me forever as it has been so long since I have used Word. Clearly I have been away from anything other than BC for too long. I had to install upgrade, remember how to save docs and chemo has made my brain slow.
I know I am not as diligent a cheerleader but two weeks may be more gentle for this weight loss start.

Blessings- I love you! I was 18 when I had him. He saved me early on from being on a downward spiral. I also have an 11 yr old daughter as well. This year I will be 36.

liefie, forgot earlier to say that my PS said without me even having thought about it, that he will plan to augment my left breast a bit on the exchange. So yeah, sounds like a good plan for you now that you have decided to keep your other one!

Marian, that is what my PS said too. It feels good now that I know what I want to do. I somehow have more courage going forward now.

I'm here Websister. Just can't keep up with you ladies. Work and dr appts and kids are keeping me super busy these days. Hanging in just fine. Had my rads simulation and got back on herceptin - so moving along. F/U with the neurologist Thursday to find out the results of all these stupid tests, and another one with the cardiologist in a week or so. But chugging along here - and trying to keep up with you chatty ladies! Hugs to all!
PS - good to see you jpmom!!!

Juneau: I just want to say what a beautiful person you are. I read your posts and your past addictions and how you pay it forward. You deserve some good karma sister. And I hate the fact that we had to meet on these boards, but I feel honoured to be your ‘friend’.
Stride: thanks for the links – I will check them out when I get to work. Happy you have posted again.
Liefie: glad you came to a decision that is right for you. Great visual of you dancing round your kitchen island. I ALWAYS include house cleaning as a good workout.
Mcook: Good for you to sign up for the run again…. I actually hate jogging so am glad I don’t live close to you where I’d have to find a lame excuse not to join you. I will be cheering you on though. Oh! just read about your dog again… dear me, he really is testing your patience eh? What’s his name?
Good to see you Scorchy – hope you are doing OK.
Scottie: hope you are feeling better today. DH home again, up coughing most of the night, which meant I was awake… geesh don’t the guy know I have to get up to go work.. ha ha !!
Outdam… sucks you had to go through that. Still think its worth taking the little white pill though. Apparently they are waiting to see if I carry the BRCA gene before doing mine ? Dunno why and I didn’t think to ask at the time.
Gma: healing hugs to you too.
Chrisrenee: 2 weeks is good. At least you are doing the bitch – I’m still doing diddly as far as exercise is concerned… not sure why ?
Lorall: I agree about taking tamox.
Hi blessings: your avatar always makes me smile. Sounds like you are getting it together.
Marian: I look on you as our gentle cheerleader… whereas Scottie is our whip master
Ramols: hi - remember the big pockets for your apts. Jumpin in.
OK off to get ready for work AGAIN ?? Whose idea was it to work mon-fri and have sat-sun off…. Would’ve been way better the other way around.
Healing hugs, peace and love to you all xxx

Oh, Tazzy....Marian gets "gentle cheerleader"...I get "whip master". ...WTH....I hope Juneau doesn't read this, she's going to send me packing from this thread 😪
It seems that some of you like the idea of weighing in every two weeks.....I think you would find this more encouraging than the once a week deal. Seeing a 2 lb loss for example after two weeks sure beats looking at a 1lb loss after one week. I'm still pushing
measurements however and that favourite pair of jeans you've been dying to get into .
Have them out on display somewhere as a reminder....it really works!!!!! Or if you have some special event coming up in a few months and you would like to get into that
dress again....have it out on display....also think of the money you will save not having
to shop for another....I truly commend all you gals who are working, and some who are dealing with kids ....that you still find the time and energy to get to a gym, do yoga in your lunch hour or come home and get on your beasts ....you're amazing ....people who are NOT dealing with all our crap are not able to do what you gals are accomplishing ...
kudos to you all....
Chrisrenee ....you look like you should be in high school yourself....what's your secret
for looking so young.....please share with us....PLEASE!!!!!0 -
Scottie- no secret, other than just great genes when it comes to my face. My mom will be 57 this year and looks no older than 40. My oldest sister who is 40 looks MUCH older than my mom, she does ALOT of the tanning beds and looks like she has that I've been smoking and tanning all my life leathery look. haha
Ramols- good luck with your appts. count me in for those pockets!
mcook- did you go to the ER last night?

Is sad today - a friend of mine died suddenly from complications relating to laryngitis and using her CPAP... I have a bad case of laryngitis and use a CPAP... Not a good time hearing this... She was a great friend that had alot of autoimmune disorders, but has been a wonderful help for DH's mother (has aphasia and is not well).. his mom will miss her alot, I hope someone close can step in to help visit mom.

GmaFoley .....sorry about your news and sadness....I can relate somewhat ....boy we both seem to be going through similar issues just now.....someone here who reached out to me when I was at my lowest emotionally was just dx yesterday with lung mets!!!!!
She has become the sister I never had.....she is an ocean away sadly, but we correspond copiously daily with the odd phone call here and there. I'm devastated and I'm vasilating between anger and sadness....had to take meds today just to cope.
How are you feeling, physically, that is....I told my manager that I would return to school tomorrow, but I'm so paranoid of catching something there, and then be back to square one!!!!
PS....yes, your mom does need support right now, for sure.0 -
PS...gals....WebMD has a whole thing going on today about losing weight and exercise.....might be worth a look.

GmaFoley so sorry about your friend.

So, a whole lot of worry for nothing. Scan results all clear. No explanation as to why it was such a difficult exam. But who cares? It's behind me...at least for a year until the next one has to be done as a follow-up.

Chris- still think its not fair for you young pretty girls to be here!
Gma- sorry about your friend. Every life is so previous.
Everyone else get better. Love all your posts and Juneau thanks for the recipe.
Every two weeks is fine with me for posting weight. I will go with the groups choice. So far I've been on the Beast everyday and gained 2 lbs. go figure! I'm not fat, just fluffy! That saying fits so well...
The Arimidex has attacked my right hand so haven't written much. Hope it feel better soon.
As always, you all make my day!0 -
Oh, I was so caught up in my own news that I forgot..
Gma, so sorry for the loss of your friend. Scottiee, sorry to hear of your friend's health. Take care of yours...hope you and the rest of us can dodge those viruses that are making many so miserable.

mcook: Doesn't take long for us to forget 'us' eh? I am hoping that once I know my job again I'll be able to catch up with you from there - hee heee! Just at the moment I am like the new girl and learning is harder these days than when I was a young thing. This is the only time I am grateful I have chemo brain to blame
Just doing dinner and its not good - by that I mean not very healthy. One I had in the freezer - chicken pot pie.. .although is home made and with only 2% milk so kind of... I will only have a small portion of the pie crust and only a small portion of the mashed potatoes to go with it. Oh! heck its only Tuesday and I'm caving already. Its because its so cold here... high of -5 today. What are we mean to do. OK confession over

Hi
Ok why do I pick a dam moving about a girl with cancer It was called "now is good"
It was a reminder to not forget our life is precious and that for me I need to remember not to wait to live my life how I want. It was a sweet but sad movies so of course makes you think as some movies do. Not sure I would suggest it but I liked it.
Hugs!0 -
You guys are one active group- I take one day off and have the devil to catch up. My youngest son scared me shitless yesterday by having a severe paralysis attack. My husbands family has this crazy genetic disease which causes the body's potassium stores to become unavailable to the blood and leaves the person paralyzed. He has only had one mild attack before, but this one was severe enough for me to call 911 and get to the hospital. Good thing I did, because his cardiac function had gone to shit. Ten hours of iv potassium and an overnight stay in ICU later and it is like it never happened- for him anyway ! I would much rather it had been me- never been so damned scared!
Mccook, hope the eye is better, gmafoley so sorry about your friend, you too Scottie. Outdamnedspot, gotta love those tests- ever wonder who thinks up all this crap? Obviously a twisted sadist! Oh well, no sleep in ER/ICU last night, so time to pass out. Here's to an uneventful tomorrow!0 -
Tomorrow is my cancerversary and I get to celebrate with my mammo on Thursday. Fingers crossed!

Scottie - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend - just keep on sending her cyber hugs!!!
Thank you all for the encouragement.. My friend was an awesome friend to my MIL and I know she is missing her right now. I sure wish I could go to the memorial service. Too far and no money I guess a card will have to do...
Ok - I have had a weak moment 2 days in a row - will try to get back on the wagon today..

Finished radiation yesterday. Now back to life. Not sure how I feel, many emotions colliding. So I did what I do with everything - wrote about it.
