Just thought here.... Sounds like the stomach and intestines  were separate problems with our Granny K?   So she got the surgery, but theoretically, that would not fix her stomach issues.... I don't think.

It sounds more like a low-grade infection stemming from her gum where that growth was?  And maybe THAT would feed into her stomach, and digestive tract and cause trouble.

Sass, where are you?  Does that make sense?  I'm only saying that because DH had an infection in his tooth....(didn't know it) but he had to go to the Doc's for something else, and they said it looks like your problem is coming from an infection, like in your mouth!  He went on antibiotics, and the dentist, and there WAS an infection under one of his teeth.

I don't know what else it could be!  Maybe go see an internist?  Have more blood work?  Or just say to hell with it all and drink.... and smoke....whatever....

Okay all the rest of the Hooligans.... I'll talk to y'all later.... xoxoxoxoxo

Ducky your's is the only post I read, you wrote it 3 hours ago don't know if you meant you were seeing doc tonite 4/17 or in am 4/18. The redo on the med b/c they are loosing their patent is a tried and nefarius pattern of drug companies. The most well known one is prilosec which became nexium in the re-paten. Ask your doc if you can't still get samples(they get plenty) or and this is a big or, the drug companies give doc cards which the docs reserve for special cases, with these cards you can either get the med free or steeply discounted. Your diagnosis must be ulcerative colitis or in that group of diseases that cause ulceration of the colon.

To all LOVE MY DOCS, monday symptoms, pcp tuesday afternoon as a walkin, Mri @ 5:30 tues, @ ENT at 3:30 wednesday, diagnosis @3:40. Cyrstals in the inner ear, treatment resonable, no drugs needed. Caused by ahem bumping my head in the middle of the night. Shook those crystals loose. I'm supposed to be in bed for two days. DBF had a corneal abrasion today, so, I'll be waiting on him hand and foot. DS in the door any minute to go on cruise tomorrow. 4 of them meeting here to park cuz it's 60$ to park @ the port. Be back when I can

BTW Cami, yes, it's been along time. It was when you first started to post. It was on Insomnia thread :) hugs Sassy

Went tonight to my PCP......going to do a lot more blood work, which I was due for anyway.....It' the GI guy I have to talk to about the meds......going to call tomorrow to see if they have more samples till I get to see him on the 25th of April.......

Worked in Pharma or 15 years....shocked Warner got away with that to avoid patent lose....it's bullshit....they took the outer coating off the original, put the pill inside a capsule, and changed the dosing.....and the name......it's bullshit..

Had to laugh at ds #2. He came up behind me while I was reading this thread and said, Man Mom, do you even know what stfu means? I said of course I do. Do you think your generation invented all those good sayings? He said oooh, remind me not to let you see any of my texts and walked away. Thats my boy...Undecided

Ducky taht's similar with prilosec, they added a single chemical bond as the story goes, and were allowed to re-patent it. forget what drug, but the company delayed it going generic by committing to a study. At the time I said %^$#%6. Abusers and our government lets them get away with it

Sas!! That's what my DH has....vertigo caused by crystals in his inner ear - never head of it before today - yep -after getting home from ER at midnight we were back at his primary doc today: Diagnosis vertigo. He lost consciousness and bumped his head, too. So strange, I've never heard of these inner ear crystals before. He wasrescribed exercises to do, the "Epley Maneuver."  I'm too tired to stay up and party wth you guys tonight. 7:30 pm Hawaii time, 1:30 a.m. East Coast time, and I'm in bed.

Why would I ever need a doctor with you guys? Or a pharmacist to answer questions? I think I found my team! Sas, you can be my PCP and Ducky is my new pharmacist. You both know so much!!

Crystals in your inner ear? Never heard of that in my life. I have had mild vertigo in the past and they told me it was an inner ear issue but not crystals. The prescribed some patch (this was in the 1980's and I don't remember it) that I had to wear and finally it resolved. Was the weirdest feeling!

As for the drugs and how they get around the patent laws, that is shameful. Some drugs cost so much money that no one could ever afford them. My uncle had one drug that was like 1600 bucks a PILL! He had to take one each week or something like that. I can't remember what it was, but it was ridiculous and he had no insurance and ended up maxing out his credit cards just to pay for meds! Then he had to file bankruptcy and ended up getting on medicaid which paid for the pills but first he had to go through everything he worked so hard for. So sad...his employer should have given him some type of insurance as he worked for him for 30 years..ugh!

Chabba, glad your toe is a little better. Hoping this continues!

Have a great day..heading off to work.

Shells, How wierd we both have contact with the same problem in such a short space of time. I have to do the same maneuver. Haven't had time to research history, but guessing it's fairly new knowledge. My PCP is a learning sponge, so, if she didn't know the connection between the nystagmus issue and the head symptoms, it must be recent. It was just as well though b/c the nystagmus(eyes not working together when tested), caused the stat MRI. I was hugely happy for the MRI b/c of the history of brain tumor near eye structures. So, got a correct dx and a definite brain look. My brain tumor was found as an incendental (oh yeah we found this too) finding after closed head injury on the opposite side of the tumor.

Shells  went to wiki, read wiki's description, reviewed bibliography, went to oldest article using Benign Paroxysmal Posterior Vertigo---2003. Very all inclusive article, good starting point.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC202288/

    Multiple citations of 2010-2012. Cool

Wow know all about "vertigo". ......have had bouts of it off and on for years......it is caused when these so called "crystals" become disrupted in the inner ear........they float out of position, an this causes the vertigo..and until they are brought back into place it will not go way.......usually they will ask you this question......" Does it feel like the room is spinning, or does it feel like your the one spinning"..../I was sent to a hearing and balance specialist, and given a maneuver to do when it happens......it is a "bitch" when you get it, and it can come on suddenly......a jerk of your head.......looking up to high in the air.....bending side wards to look in a low cabinet.......or just moving your head to quickly.......horrible when it happens.......it completely incapacitates you.........

OMG sas we needed to know how you bumped your head.

Yes, it is Benign Positional Vertigo, and it robbed me of about 10 hours of studying. DH was too tired to do the exercises last night, but I threatened him, so he did them. Twice a day. I take off all that time to drive him back and forth to ER and office visits, bring him food, walk him to the bathroom, help him bathe: he does the treatment or I will get VERY CRANKY, not a pretty sight.

Ah geez you guys.... I'm so sorry about complaining about ANYthing!  You all have a lot to deal with.... makes me appreciate my sort of boring life!  Sassy, you wild woman you!  I "hit" my head once when I was 16.... I was taking Adagio, and being thrown up in the air between two guys...(now THAT'S rough sex...Wink)  Anyway they accidently missed catching me, and I dropped onto the base of my head on the wooden gym floor.  Had amnesia for about 8 hours and a brain concussion....

I lost a LOT of memories of my childhood and school years... but also maybe to shutting out really bad memories from when I was 7.  Don't really think that head slam had anything to do with my hearing loss though.

I feel so bad for you gals that get dizzy....  But at least they can help you?

Shells.... sorry.... I was kidding you, but you really have your hands full.   What is wrong with your DH?  Did I miss something....again?

We just went out to go somewhere, and my battery is dead!  Damnit!  DH took it out.... thinks it cracked, because battery acid is all over the place!  Thank God we were home when this happened.  We have had such cold weather here also.  But damnit again.... Oh well, could be so much worse.

Yes Red....  just get out of there, and come home with us!  Not much we can do, other than keep you smiling, and try and make you feel better.   And  I'll say a prayer for you, and your Son!

Mary is right.... just don't ever give up....  WE won't...  We'll be with you even next few  years or longer!   I just don't like when they say that....  Who really knows?  If you are getting radiation,  that must mean they are still treating you, and thinking there IS hope.

Just SHOW them that you are stronger than anything!   You cam DO it girl!  We all love you!  xoxoxoxoxo
