You guys are so funny with the ice cubes. Tank loves to play in the creek behind our property, but he does NOT want a bath and I imagine an ice cube in his bowl might scare him! He likes everything to be just so all the time. My old basset loved ice cubes and my weiner dogs would eat anything.hugs

Dozer was being very quiet after I let him outside - and I started thinking, when my kids got very quiet it was time to worry. So, I went outside to see where he went and this is what I saw. Him out in our drive - sunning himself. Sun was out but very cool - in the 50/60s. He was definitely enjoying the sun.

Need to give Doz a bath but not sure how to bathe a big dog. Any ideas?

GMA ... not sure what the best/easiest way to bathe a big dog. There is no way I could get Tank in the bathtub or shower. I'll have to wait until it's hot out this summer and try it outside with the hose. My Maggie only weighed about 35 lbs so I would just put her in the tub and use the hand-held shower thingy to wash her.I love the pics!! Spookie's transformation was so cute .. from rag muffin wet to gorgeous dried. Chloe and Dozer were sure enjoying their naps!

Spookie is adorable. What a transformation. Looks like my hair when it's wet!
GMA, I bathe the big dog in a kiddie pool outside with the hose. My little dog we do inside in the bathtub.

I've done baths in the tub, and outside with big dogs. They are easier to contain in the tub, but getting them in can be a problem. Outside I used a leash so they couldn't take off. And I think the shampoo rinses easier with warm water in the tub than cool from the hose. When they shake, the bathroom gets soaked.
Easiest? Take to a groomer! They can trim nails too. Vet may do it too.

My daughter has a walk in shower that is huge.........she can take Stella in there and give her a bath.......I could do the same in mine.....
Thing is..........I don't have a dog........LOL

Love all your pics and stories. My pup is my side kick and I hate being away from her. She's small but too big to put in a tote to sneak in everywhere.

Awww she's cute!!! Name?
Spookie could fit in a bag, I'd be the one to get busted. I hate leaving her too.

walk in showers are the bomb with big dogs. Especially if they have doors,, then they can't escape.0 -
Very upset today......not sure if I share this but my daughter's English Bulldog, who is a beauty has epilepsy, and is just over a year old..........she has been on Meds for around 2 1/2 months......
The longest she has gone seizure free is 1 month, but has had them as often as 2 weeks apart.....
I was talking to my daughter last night when she said "Stella just had a gran mal Mom........within the next 20 minutes she had 2 more.....very serious ones.........they scooped her up, and ran her to the Vet because "cluster seizures" are life threatening............in the parking lot of the Vet office she had another one.....
They kept her overnight , and they were going to pick her up about 1 hour ago.........of course the purged her with her with Pheno, plus the new med they just put her on 1 week ago.............
I'm sure this was inherited and the breeder knew she came from a epileptic father or mother......no one will convince me differently, although the breeder said "oh we never had a probelm"......I say she's a liar..........and she belongs to the AKC.........this bitch should be put out of business................it is an inherited disease, and I say she knows it..................this woman gets $2,500 a pup......do you think she is going to stop breeding with that kind of an income.
Stella was one of 5 in the litter................times that by #2,500.............I think you know the answer.......Stella at the Vet with her collar on......the collar will stop her from tearing otu her IV line which she will get eventually...this was taken last night

Ducky ... I'm glad Stella is back home. I've done some reading that human children with severe epilepsy are getting some good results using cannabis oil. I wonder if this would be effective on a dog. I read a comment on the blog about this asking if it was okay for dogs ... I'm still waiting to see if someone responds.Spookiesmom ... That's so cute. Maggie's name was "Move Maggie." I wish I could get Tank to the groomers to be cleaned up. Geez ... it's about impossible to get him in the car or truck for his shots. He's got a big heart, but he's such a baby sometimes.
The really funny thing about Tank is he's 5 years old and I've only heard him bark twice. He's supposed to be my guard dog! hahaha!

my Jack hates cancer but loves the sun!
In case you couldn't read his tag in pic #

BC, your puppy is a cutie pie.
Ducky, poor Stella. I wish they could figure out how to stop those seizures. Poor baby.
Bren, my younger dog is a big baby too. When he rides in the car he throws up. We've tried everything and nothing seems to work. My DH sits in the back seat with him now, and holds a puke bucket for him. He's so good, he just puts his head in the bucket. It's the funniest thing. I'm not sure if it's stress related or not. He was a rescue.

I love Jack's tag. ... he has a very nice yard to sit in the sun!
A very big red-headed woodpecker just crashed into our big window in the bedroom. We went outside to see if we could save him. It doesn't look like he's going to live. He's so beautiful ... it makes me so sad.

oh Bren- the same thing happened recently here, but not a woodpecker. He looked like he wouldn't make it. Stunned. Eyes closed. We left him alone for about 20 minutes and then decided to try to gently pick him up. He must have had an adrenaline rush because he woke up and flew! Over the fence to the nearest large stand of trees! It was magnificent to watch.,
I hope your little guy makes it. I love birds. I put a clear-type feeder on my window after that happened so they could see there was a barrier. My windows really aren't that clean, haha. Here they are enjoying it, and no more crashes!

OH, Ducky,, I'm so sorry about Stella. I hope they can find the right combination of meds to keep her seizures under control. That is so upsetting. she is so adorable. And I'd be really pissed at that breeder too. Be interesting if you could find out if any of Stella's littermates have seizures too. Sue that damn breeder. Highway robbery what she charges!0 -
Jackbirdie, Your Jack looks a bit like my Baylee - so cute. I love the tag!
Very sad about the woodpecker.
Great idea about the bird feeder. I've got to get one of those.

Slow deep- I got that feeder for $8 on Amazon. Figured I couldn't lose. I'm new to this thread...could you post one of your Baylee for me? My Jack became a Furry Friends therapy dog in March, but because of chemo I can't take him on visits. Poor guy, thought he'd gotten a job then ...nothing! But a lady who just lost her therapy dog to old age and who is not ready to get another yet has agreed to take Jack on some visits (hospital, chemo center, lifecare and memory care facilities, etc.)
Here's a pic while he was "in training"
