Jack and Stella are adorable! Love the pictures! Tank is napping beside me at the computer. He doesn't want to go outside unless I go with him. He's got 5 acres to run in and could care less. We already went on our walk today. It's beautiful here as well ... the sun is shining and the temps are warm.

PS .. I'm really sad ... the beautiful woodpecker did not make it. We tried to pet him and revive him as best we could but it didn't work.

Bren- thanks. My guy doesn't want to leave my side either. He did go to an hour long play date with the other therapy dogs yesterday and enjoyed that. But now glued to my side once again.
Really sad too about the woodpecker. They are particular favorites of mine. I used to have lots come to my feeders when I lived back East. Now in Oregon, I have never seen one. I'm on the coast. There must be some inland. Maybe someday I'll take a bird watching trip. Some of the state parks here have old ranger residences they rent out. Very cozy and reasonable, but only if I can take Jack

that is too bad about the woodpecker. They are a favorite of mine too. The pileated woodpeckers seem to be quite numerous this year around here.Jackbirdie: a bird watching trip sounds great! That would be cool to rent out one of those old ranger houses.

Jackbirdie ... sounds like that would be a fun trip, and of course, Jack has to go too. Whenever I travel to San Diego to see my family, Tim has to take time off work to stay home with Tank. We won't board him and don't know anyone that could stay with him. He gets nervous being away from his dogmother and dogfather. I'm glad Jack got to play with the other therapy dogs. Tank would probably be good at that too, as he is so gentle.Glennie ... we have a lot of woodpeckers around here. Just out my back door we have a 100 ft oak tree that all kinds of birds and squirrels love to play in. You can hear the woodpeckers all the time. I feel bad for the one that flew into our window. He was big and had bright red feathers on his head. I never saw one when I lived on the west coast.

Bren: the last time I boarded Ava,, they didn't give her half of her meds! I was so upset. She has hypothyroidism and Cushings and takes multiple meds twice a day. I put them in a 7 day pill box,,, one side for breakfast, one side for dinner. and Half the doses came back to me. No more of that. Next time, I'll find someone or someones to walk her and take care of her. It might take a village to watch my dog, but at least I know if the neighbors are checking up on her, those meds will be given properly.I find it interesting that you don't see woodpeckers out west. i would not have thought of that.

https://www.leafly.com/news/health/this-dogs-seizures-are-being-treated-with-cbd-d82eDucky ... I did an internet search on using CBD's from the cannabis plant to treat seizures in dogs. I know that dogs are currently being treated with phenobarbital but it has so many side effects. Maybe the CBD's would help Stella.

Jackbirdie, here is my Baylee. He is an old man now, but when he was younger he looked so much like your Jack. I will have to dig out one of his younger pictures. He will be 16 this year.
We were talking about dogs and their baths. I had to post this....it made me laugh.

Here is one of our dear Abby. We were at a pet event and they had a bunch of rescues. There was Abby - she wouldn't really let anyone pet her and she was very shy. She had adorable puppies that everyone was adopting. She just sat there watching everyone take her puppies. My DH wanted to adopt her right away. We both felt so bad for her. She had many obstacles that she overcame. I'm not sure what went on in her past, but she was afraid of everything. She slowly came around and became a great dog. She hated to be alone though, so my DH would take her to the shop with him. She developed cancer 7 years after we adopted her. After many surgeries we ended up losing her. We still miss her. She loved riding on the forklift. LOL

Hi Doggie Pals,
Tank is sick. He threw up yesterday and today and has diarrhea. I bought a new kind of dog food (Blue Diamond for Adults) on Monday. He ate it last night as I mixed it half and half with his old food. This morning he would only eat the turkey I put on top of his food ... no kibbles. I know I can give him some PeptoBismal but the trick is getting him to take it. Maybe I can crush up the chewables and somehow disguise them in some more turkey. Tim thinks he needs to be wormed, but I don't think that's it. I know he feels bad cause he's panting a lot and eating grass. Any suggestions? The last resort is taking him to the vet as it's a HUGE undertaking to get him in the truck or car.

See if he will eat some canned pumpkin, not the pie mix. Or a Tagamet in a piece of cheese. Is he drinking?

Bren, sorry to hear about Tank not feeling well. I know some dogs can experience problems when you change their food. I do know that Diamond Dog Food has a history of food recalls for salmonella. You may want to check if there is an active one now. Hope he gets well soon!
Ducky, You're always so good to me. I couldn't ask for a better adoptive Mom!!

Bren - poor Tank! Pumpkin is a good idea. Make sure he hydrates. Somehow. My Jack has a sensitive tummy and I switch him out starting with less than a quarter of the new. That is if there is no salmonella. Yikes! I do taste of the wild grain free. Nothing new but Jack seems to like it.

Thanks Spookie ... I managed to get him to take 1/2 a Pepto Bismol tab mixed in peanut butter. And then I gave him a bunch of chicken with his dinner tonight ... and he ate it all. I just hope he can keep it down.http://www.chewy.com/dog/blue-buffalo-life-protection-formula/dp/28801
This is the new dog food I got for him. He was eating Beneful and I hate that stuff. I don't think it was good for him. If Tank can keep his dinner down, then tomorrow I'll give him more chicken and white rice. If that doesn't help, I'll take him to the vet. I just don't want to go to the vet's office. I was just there a couple weeks ago when Maggie died.

Happy healing to you WW!
I'm glad you are at a place where you can hear the birds again!! My Dad used to say, "Not everyone can hear the birds." Meaning, not everyone takes the time to listen.0 -
These three are the reason I will get through this. I have to be here to take care of them.

WW- glad to hear it! Rest now. Don't overdo.
Frey- I totally get you. I only have 1 but he means the world to me. Even when he steals my chair!
