Maybe a dumb flat question?

Oh wow.. those are some beautiful shots M!!! Yes, I am snorting a little, but I'm also a bit jealous of the way you pull everything together and it just looks fabulous.. if I tried something like that it would look cluttered.. I just don't have the touch. I am really snorting over you and Dex hovering at Bec's door I don't blame you for being impatient, it's so nice out and she's only there a couple of days!!!
Ha Z, I'm surprised it lasted that long, they did really good and no injuries lol. Sunrise service sounds so fabulous. Do you do like the plastic eggs with coins or candy inside? My family is not too big on Easter, but we'll go over mom's for dinner and also pay a visit to my grandma. What a shame, it's supposed to be a cold crappy day.
Z, when are your scans? Did you want a pet?
Keep meaning to send Bond an email.. keep forgetting.. perfect excuse now.. I'll wish him a Happy Easter.
Glennie, do you do anything for Passover?
Bobo has thrown us over for her new love, Max.

a Seder on Sunday? Seders are Friday and Saturday night,, so I'm confused.Yes, L,, my friend Melinda is hosting this year. Seder on Friday night. I have an egg to roast tomorrow, and some beets. this should be interesting,,,,,

Egg hunts were a big deal when I was a nanny. Suckers and pinwheels blooming in the ground, bubble necklaces hanging from the trees, special chocolates hidden. We kept track!
Now have graduated from Cheerios to some candy. Still do small boxes of raisins. LM loves them. Sometimes coins or stickers or erasers. We are big on erasers right now and tattoos.
Boy just traded in all his change for a toy. He wanted a r/c monster truck but picked a laser car that runs on the wall and ceilings. I'm going to put the rest in the bank. It was quite a haul.

thanks for the advice spookie. Finger didn't bother me yesterday but aware of it today.
Idk about the pet. Scans on Tuesday. Just want good news.

I looked on his calendar he has Fri noted, but he told me Sun. I think his friend who is hosting may be confused. He's 80+ years old. We aren't Jewish, so I really don't know about this, but the old boy has sort of "adopted" DH, and has invited him to Seders in the past. Heck, I don't get invited to regular dinners there.

PRB, so sorry you have health concerns, anytime you feel free to talk you know we all are here for you and "get it", sending hugs! Wow, you must be over the moon with such good news! Miracles do happen!
Ariom, just lovely pics, please keep them coming, I just love looking at them, pure paradise!! Glad Bec is home for Easter, wish I could sleep like that!! oh to be young again!

Hey All !!
PRB such AWESOME news !! So happy for you ! Worried about your health news? What is going on ? We are here for you !
Bobo we know you are busy with your fur baby, how is it going
Spookie yep Easter bah humbug................ no cooking here
M glad back is there and every picture of your house just get better .
HAIR is back in full force.........fried egg smell every morning and complaining about how hard her Xray tech school is .............boo hoo poor baby life is hard (suck it up buttercup) . She washed her white and yellow bikini with a tie dyed tote bag and ruined that but other than that no interesting stories.
I ordered all of these items from a nursery to start the garden when we move to the mountains (blackberry , blueberry and raspberry bushes, asparagus & rhubarb) so these things were to arrive in about 6 weeks . So of course they arrive yesterday in the middle of a snow storm. The instructions say plant immediately . So I call this place and get call center rep that does not speak english . I ask about planting instructions and what what to do . I am frustrated as hell and ask to speak to a gardener . This rep replies "of course maam can you please describe what this gardener looks like" . FFS I hung up .So now i have the bushes growing in huge clay pots in the kitchen until I can at least set them out on the patio here while waiting to get them to the mountain house the fridge is full of rhubarb and asparagus .
So I have been watched the PBS Cancer Emperor of all Maladies. I got half way through the last episode and just got pissed and turned it off . Perhaps it is just my angry bitchy arimidex self but it seems to me that it is just a bunch of excuses about "how hard it is to find a cure". The part that really pissed me off was the cost of "cancer" like all of us here don't already know that . Getting approved for the ##)$# pet scans every 3 months and then still having to put out 4K each time out of pocket. Its like just because it is cancer the prices are inflated. OK RANT over .................
NEW RANT LONG STORY - So my mother is 82 and lives in an assisted living elder community (AKA "the compound) . Last year a few of them started smoking pot as it legal here . I got a call from the manager at McDonalds at 10 pm . It seemed as though they were unhappy as they had asked to have everything biggie sized and were not happy with their order. The manager was concerned that they were not in their right minds and needed medical attention. I drive there and tell him thank you for his help. I load all 4 of their "stoned asses" in my car and get them back to the compound. Then I proceed to tell my mother that I don't give a shit what she does but you absolutely cannot drive stoned. She promises she won't drive again.
So yesterday I get a call from the "compound Director" . Several of them are out on the patio disrupting the others and saying mean things . So I call "the mother" and ask her if she is smoking pot again. She says no "we can't smoke pot here " so someone got these "edible cookies" . Then she says ..........it's ok you told me not to drive so I did not. FFS its like high school .
I just keep telling myself that "everyday above ground is a good day" Have a great day/night all ! Off now to walk ........that mean goose has gone to the sanctuary........hope he does not have any mean relatives still residing at the park .

Z, can ins really deny you a PET scan? I hope not! I envy you having little ones at Easter. I have such happy memories of Easter egg hunts past.
PRB, how fascinating finding a long lost brother. And in Italy!!! Keep us informed please with what transpires. Sorry to hear about your health. I echo Z, we are all here for you, day or night !!
Glennie, we are hoping to go to the Holocaust museum in DC tomorrow. I have wanted to go for years. I think it is important to show my 12 and 14 year old, so they can learn the seriousness of it. I made thrm watch The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas a few years back and it had quite an impact on my son. I want to honor the memory of those poor souls that were taken, what better time right?
My sister arrived last night!! We are going to see Wicked on Sunday in Baltimore. I have never seen a broadway play before and I am so excited!! Then Monday we are goung for the day to NYC...another first!

Now a medical post. Went to doctor about pain in my upper right quadrant an he referred me again to a GI. Been there, done that. Maybe this time they can find source of pain. Not excruciating, but burning and localized.and now hurts if I bend over.
Still need to see back doctor about slight protrusions on three discs in lower back.
Went to lymphedema center yesterday. Yep, I have LE in my breast. He thinks it is stage 0 ( ranked 0-3) and he wants to see me 3X a week for about 3 weeks to see if he can move the lymph along. Also getting a gadget to wear at night under compression bra that massages the breast to help get lymph moving. He thinks that Barney boob was Cellulitis. Luckily I got antibiotics right away and it cleared up.
There. That is my medical rant over with. Glad there are no mets in spine and I will have to deal with degenerating disks. Abdominal pain worries me somewhat. Its the bloody unknown that causes anxiety. Once I know what it is I can deal with it.
Sorry to go on. I just needed to tell someone that might care.
Happy Easter!

Andrea, the spine doc. Will want PT. May suggest some X-ray guided shots.
I'm just going to wait till I'm crawling. The shots hurt like hell, you are sedated. They don't work well, or last long. nah. I'll crawl, then have surgery.

ND: I'm with you,, I wish I could sleep like Bec too! I think I woke up 15 times last night. The pillows were all over the place!Fia: You poor thing! It's not enough that you have to put up with Hair, and a crazed goose,, but you have a pot head MOM! As M would say: Oh, my giddy aunt!! I cannot believe that you had to pick up the potheads at the local McDonalds! I was laughing at your story. But the gardening story had me peeved! You bought these plants,, now no one can tell you what to do? FFS!
Andrea: I am excited about you getting to see Wicked and going to NYC! How fun!! I think it is great that you wish to educate your kids about the Holocaust. I have not been to that museum,,, but I hear it is quite emotional. Be ready. I cannot believe you are joining the LE club too. FFS! It's a freaking epidemic!! And OMG,, to think Barney was cellulitis! That is so scary. So glad you got antibiotics right away.! Glad no mets, but hope you get to the root of the upper quadrant pain! Sucks! Does antacid like Maalox or Tums help? Do you take Pepcid or Prilosec or any of those other meds? Please report in on your trip!! Pictures would be nice. Hint. Hint.
Off to do a little gardening,,, it's like an addiction,,,, before I have to start making things for tonight. Never roasted beets before and I have to roast an egg too! Let's see how this goes.
Back later!! *waving to all**

Hi all! Just checked in to see what has been going on here and read Fia's post. OMG your Mother and her buddies at Maccas with the munchies, causing trouble, that's hysterical. I am sorry, I know it is a worry for you, but I just can't help it.
I am imagining you with all those vegetables coming up in your kitchen, while you wait to be able to plant them out at the mountain house. OMG, everything is happening, at your house!
Andrea, your trip to the theatre and to New York sounds fabulous. I never made it to New York when I was with United, every time I had a few spare days, the other girls would want to go to Vegas or LA, so I would get out voted, should have just gone alone.
I agree with educating our children, I have always had Jewish friends and Bec grew up knowing a lot about the history too.
Hi ndgirl, thanks, glad you like the pictures. I am enjoying using the camera that Colin bought.
Z, in the bag on Tuesday.
ldesim, Bec finally got. up at 12.30pm I made French Toast & Bacon with sourdough rye and Pure Maple syrup, yumm! We didn't do anything, but sit around in the sun this afternoon and watched a movie tonight.
It is nearly midnight, so i will check in tomorrow. Happy Easter, to all who celebrate it.

Andrea, posting at the same time, LE now too, that's shitful! So Barney may have been cellulitis? Glad you got the right antibiotics. So true about the bloody unknown.
Glennie, how do you roast an egg? I love roast beets.
0 -
There was a article in today's paper about Passover this weekend. The rabbi mentioned a roasted egg representing a cooked item.
Inquiring minds (nosey) need to know how to roast an egg????? The beets shouldn't be that hard.
0 -
well, roasting is in process! I have never roasted either a beet or an egg. It seems you hard boil the egg first so it doesn't explode. Check. Egg boiled. Beets in the oven. Going to grab quick lunch and then roast the egg in the toaster oven (recommended method) Will take picture afterwards!!0 -
and I boiled them first! Good thing I did two of them. The toaster oven is a mess.
0 -
LOL That looks like something that would happen to me!! Thank dog for foil!!!!
0 -
Well the inside of the toaster oven needs cleaning,,,,,, ick,,,,,,0 -
Glennie, I was wondering how it would not explode. Sorry for the mess. Cleaning ovens is no fun.
Fla, The senior potheads story was hysterical. You think you'll need to do that for your kids, not your parents!
Fla, Send the nursery a letter or email asking how to care for the plants and pointing out that since they screwed up the delivery time you will expect them to replace anything that doesn't make it.
Andrea, Sorry it's LE. Scary to realize how dangerous Barney really was.
I remember Easter egg hunts being fun when the kids were little. Now I'm ignoring the whole thing.
DH got his CT results today. The area is too large to operate and the surgeon thinks the risk of doing more harm than good is very high. So his orders are to walk daily to increase peripheral blood flow and eat a low fat/low cholesterol diet. He recommended the Mediterranean Diet and no processed food. I guess that means I will have to learn to cook something edible on a twice weekly basis. DH said he can walk 6 blocks before having to stop to rest. He's pretty stoical so it probably hurts a lot.
0 -
You hard boil the egg first and it's not supposed to explode,, well,,,, live and learn.Sorry to hear about DH. Sucks it can't be operated on. What will you cook? I do not recommend roasting beets,, unless one of our vegetarian friends can give better advice.
0 -
I don't like beets, so will not be trying to cook them. We like most other vegetables, so a wide choice. I love mac and cheese, but there's certainly nothing low fat about that. Today is so cold that veggie chili would be good - but we eat out on Fridays. Fish and chicken are pretty easy. He said to cook at home because it's lots healthier. And I should be doing that already to keep my salt low. But maaaaaan I hate to cook.
0 -
I hear ya. I like making a big pot of something that lasts several meals. Or something really easy like baked chicken with baked sweet potato. Add a salad,,, done.0 -
Morning, Wren, there are heaps of really easy, quick recipes Wren. Do you like stir-fry? the Asian dishes are so quick and easy, get yourself a Wok and you can make your 2 cooking nights easy peasy! Sorry your DH has to put up with that and there won't be any surgical options for him. I hope he can get into a routine and lessen the pain.
Fia, I am still smiling about the stoned oldies, I have never heard such a thing, but it stands to reason, if it is legal, it's gonna happen. I can just imagine lots of people I know, if it was legal here, they'd be doing exactly the same thing. It wouldn't be for me though, I have the munchies bad enough, from the steroids I take! lol
Glennie, I don't understand why you'd have to double cook that egg. What could roasting, after boiling, actually achieve? It is a strange one, for sure. I roast beets wrapped in foil in the oven, just like you'd do a potato. I love beets, especially the baby ones in salad.
Everything is open here, again today after being closed yesterday for Good Friday, so I am taking Bec out shopping. I hope everyone is a having a nice break...catch you later! M x

Stumbled into this thread and have a couple of comments -
Wrenn, have you tried roasted beets? They really do taste completely different and they don't really need anything like salt or other flavorings.
Glennie, I cracked up over your exploded eggs (sorry). I'm curious if you poked a hole in one end before boiling? If not, that might help but if you did and got this result, I'll have to remember never to try that approach to roasting eggs.
And Fiaranch, love your description of your mom and her pals adventures in and out of "The Compound" - it sounds like a sitcom in the making. I know it's not amusing to live through that but from the outside looking in it sure is. And who ever would have thought that parents would be the ones giving their kids fits over drug usage??
Have a good Easter and Passover, all.

I don't know what is funnier.. Fia's stoner mom or Glennie's exploding eggs... I think it's a tie
Hi Hopeful!!
Glennie, you can just put eggs on the oven rack at 325 for 30 mins then dunk them in ice water. You can set them in a muffin tin too.. makes it a little easier to remove them. Why do you need the baked egg? What does it represent? Enjoy your seder tonight.
FIa.. omg you have quite the cast of characters to contend with... a bunch of stoned seniors causing a ruckus at McD's with the munchies and causing havoc at the compound with their pot cookies. I hope it works out with your plantings, sounds like they should be fine in the clay pots. Is it easy to grow rhubarb?
M, your breakfast sounded fantastic!! Hope you guys are having a great visit.. I agree with the others.. more house porn!

Andrea, that was such a great movie, so sad.. but a great movie... I thought it was really well done. I think it's great you are exposing your kids to these things.. I think it's very important. I'm excited that you're going to have such a wonderful weekend! You don't need to apologize to us.. you hardly complain at all and we all know you've had some terrible pain. Hoping the massaging gives you some relief.
M, we'll have to put a trip to NY on the bucket list.. I've never been either, nor have I been to a broadway show!
Wren, what about a wrap and a salad a couple nights a week? What is it you hate the most about cooking? The prep.. or just everything? I'm sure we can come up with something that you can do that won't seem like such a chore for you.
Put me down for hating beets as well.. yuk! I don't care if they are fried, baked, boiled.. they are gross.
Spookie, I think you need a girls night out when DH is off for dinner on Sunday.

Welcome Hopeful,
First you should know we are a crazy bunch............... I am probably the worst , with Idesim coming in a very close second.
My 82 year old mother has gone off the deep end ......She was married for 50 years to my father and never let loose (of course she could not as he was a raging alcoholic) but FFS............ I just told her I don't care what you do but you BETTER NOT DRIVE.............. I will bail you out of jail 1 time and 1 time only so make sure you remember that . If you get kicked out of the compound you won't find a place that nice for the price so think about that as well.................. Lately its some kind of role reversal when I find myself saying "your going to wear that "? (in response to striped leggings with cow print mule shoes and I swear to god every necklace and bracelet she own's at the same time) She smokes cigarettes, drinks champagne and swears like a sailor............... but its not alzheimer's and as she says "Frankly my dear I just don't give a damn."...........................
I really don't and can't worry............. Smoke on and eat more pot cookies...................... JUST DON'T DRIVE
Hair has invited her parents to dinner tomorrow night and is cooking............................ I am peeing myself already in anticipation.................she wants to be able to tell "Mommy" I cooked it all myself.............. I tried desperately to get "uninvited" . I really hope I don't take a bite of something and have to spit it out at the table......................... Stay tuned for part 2
Wren, don't slap me as I get on the M and Bobo vitamix bandwagon. That would be a way to get healthy food with minimal effort ................... They are expensive but I have seen some really good deals at Costco and EBAY...................
0 -
And I reply to myself since I forgot......................
Glennie , OMFG............................... Sorry (not really :-) ) That exploding egg !!!!!!! ROFL..............................
0 -
Trying to get out the door, but can't stop reading. OMG, Fia, I wish I could be a fly on the wall at that dinner, maybe the Mother is just as bad and anything Hair makes to eat will be fine. Let me know, I can hardly wait.
Your Mother is an absolute cracker, I am trying not to have my mascara run, at your description of her. I guess it could be worse, like this woman! Hahah
Do you seriously want more house porn? I have lots of it!
nd, maybe we will get to do New York together some time!
0 -
I haven't decided what or where I'm going Sun. Probably McD, no good cookies though..
