I used to like beets, especially pickled beets. Then last summer my son-in-law grilled.some on the bbq and they were under cooked (still hard) I didnt want to hurt his feelings so I ate them. That night I was ill and vomited and had the runs...yep, everything was red. I havent been able to eat a beet since.

Hi Hopeful,,, Welcome. I've seen you on some other threads. We are a really crazy bunch here!!OK, the tradition is that there is a roasted egg on the Seder plate. I don't make the rules, FFS,,, I was just told to bring the wine and all the stuff for the Seder plate. So I google how to do a roasted egg,,, first you boil it,, then you put it in the toaster oven long enough to brown and maybe get a few cracks. Well apparently I left it too long since it overheated and exploded. Glad I gave you a good laugh. ** mental note: plan to bring something else next year** Oh yeah,, and one guest, who I have known for several years,, but not very well,,, found out I had been married. "YOU were married? You don't seem like the type." WTF was that about? I decided that I didn't care to persue that,, I'd had too much of the wine. Thankfully my friend's house is literally around the corner.
You all who have not been to NYC,, let me know,, and I'll be there too. I love playing tour guide in NYC. I'll have you running for buses and hopping on subways like a native. My only caveat is that I will insist upon going to my favorite hot dog stand/juice bar. Papaya King. The one and only.

When I was in New York I saw The Odd Couple on Broadway, Glennie would love to go with you as tour guide! Ds lived there for awhile so he showed me around but we still did a bus tour, learned do much.

Hi Hopeful! nice to see you here, I am sorry I didn't mention it earlier, but I have my Daughter here and I am only jumping on the computer occasionally to see what everyone is up to.
She started it! Z you make me laugh so much! I was relaying all this at lunch, which was a really yummy Vitamix soup with lots of veg and just about every herb from the garden, followed by hot chilli wedge fries, with dipping sauces! Now to eat more chocolate. I am sticking by my story that if you eat heaps, in a short time you don't stack on the weight, like a little bit over a long time does. Don't spoil it for me by explaining how this is shit and I am dreaming, if I think it makes a difference!

Dawny, that's beautiful! Don't know what kaje is either. Where are you holidaying? Our town is so busy I can't believe it, there are so many boats out and vans in town taking up all the parking spots. The supermarket is full of tourists, I will be glad when it is over.
Spookiesmom, I hear you about being a landlady, I hated it too. We had 2 disappear without paying the rent, so decided investment property with tenants, was not our thing. I was considering buying a nice place here to rent out, but just don't want the hassles.

I agreed to supervise her making the cake and she is on her own for the rest ...............So last night she starts the cake and she is slow as hell...................... DS comes down and asks what she is making and says holy shit is mom cooking this stuff . She says no and he rolls his eyes. So I have to get him off to the side and tell him to leave her alone about this as she does not know how to cook and the only way she is going to learn is to F some things up . So during this cooking she tells me that they just ate crap and TV dinners growing up (so the apple does not fall too far from the tree)
I leave the kitchen for 5 minutes to pee.............When I get back shes says the eclair crust is done and it was all bubbly "so I forked it" ................ I said ok well your were not supposed to, so now the filling is going to run out of the bottom but ok . HAIR says "well my Mom won't care and my Dad will just be impressed I cooked something .
There is absolutely no way I could invite my mother to this dinner . I can just see her telling CT (Camel Toe) you don't need to eat that ......how much do you weigh................ Oh hell I hope she does not wear those leopard leggings tonight.................
Tomorrow I am required to attend Easter brunch at the compound. Since it is at 10:30 am I am hopeful it will be too early for them to be stoned.
