Moving On......After the Flap

Cuetang - I found a lump about 12 months after DIEP. Ultrasound showed it to be necrotic tissue which was reabsorbed. During my last surgery (2 weeks ago), my PS found a tiny lump which they did 2 levels of path on and found nothing. So, yes it does happen, but you should get it checked.

Thanks Jeannie and Marty for the info! I have my MO and BS followups this month, so I'll definitely get it checked out. I hate "canceritis". Hope I have the same news that you both got from your experiences.
Hi Morningsun!

hey cuetang, I'm lumpy bumpy and BB'd. All have checked out to be fat necrosis!
Sbel!!!! Congratulations to your whole family! I'm so excited for you!
Welcome home, Marty!
Butterfleyez, congratulations on your year, that's so great. I "hosted" a celebration with my girlfriends at a country club (we had a private room but it didn't cost any extra....and we are not members!). Everyone came and bought their own drinks and dinner and I bought dessert. It was lovely and relaxed and a great opportunity for my work, high school, college, neighborhood friends and family to meet. It was so meaningful for me.

it's been confirmed. PS called to say my bump was officially an incidentaloma. Well, he didn't say THAT. He said it was fibrous-y, probably scar tissue/necrosis, no carcinoma cells.
Thinking of you Katy!!

liefie ....less than two weeks! So grateful for the opportunity to meet some of you in person!

yippee Jeannie.

Great news, jeannie.
I'm off to the mountains tomorrow...EVERYONE will be in the backpack. If the bears are bothersome, we'll just eat ice cream instead.

Good plan, Nihahi! Enjoy!

As many of you may already know, Movie's husband had a horrific accident on Labour Day when he fell two storeys off a ladder. He was taken to the trauma hospital in Portland, but the brain damage was too severe, and he passed away in the OR. I just had a call from her, and it was really so good to hear our dear Movie's voice. She is mourning her husband, but her faith is a great help in accepting what happened. She asked me to let you know on the thread that she can feel the prayers and support going out from this group, and that she feels truly loved by all of us. She was very touched when I told her that Jeannie and her DH are coming to the memorial service on Saturday to represent us there. Bailey, she is adamant that the two of us should stay with her from the Wednesday before the weekend, and she will come to pick us up at the airport. She says it will take her mind off her own situation, and she is really looking forward to the weekend. Finally she asked me to tell you all that she loves you very, very much. It is all still so unreal.

Oh, Liefie, I am so glad you heard from her! That is a relief. Movie, you are very truly loved by your sisters here.

Thank you liefie.....she has been in all our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for the update, Liefie. It's good to know you talked with her. I cannot imagine her grief. Bless her heart. Love you, Movie, holding you in my heart and prayers. We'll be there soon, sister.

Please give Movie a huge cuddle from me when you see her at the get-together. In fact, I want a group hug from me!

My doc just phoned to tell me there are no mets I have to discuss the vertebral angioma with her on Tuesday (if that's what is causing my back problems, it will need radiation... which I managed to avoid for BC by having a BMX!) but I'm celebrating good news for now.
Jeannie, great news for you too.
SBE, sending good vibes to you!
Love to you all.

Movie...all the love in our hearts is going out to you. Settle in on top of the raft--we will support you with prayer and love and healing wishes.
Yesterday's surgery went very smoothly, thanks for all the good vibes coming my way! The PS said he dug out the rest of the radiation damaged tissue, tweaked the "mounds" and did some fat grafting for symmetry, arranged the fipples to the same horizontal plane, and did something to my abdomen. I went directly from recovery to the hyperbaric tube and snored through the whole treatment--Wilbur managed to squeeze in there with me.
I'll be on low-dose antibiotics for a month, and will continue with hyperbaric treatments all next week. Cellulitis? Nah....
I feel a bit like I've been hit by a truck this morning. The DIEP breasts don't hurt--they're still numb--but the radiation burn site on my back is a zinger, and I have firm instructions to not move my arm much. But I'm on the road to recovery...very soon I'll be dancing in the light at the end of the tunnel.
Have a great Friday, everyone!

Movie, Sbel said it well. We are surrounding you, holding you, on the lifeboat, praying and whispering words of comfort.
Sbel, I'm so glad things went smoothly! Cellulitis doesn't stand a chance. I'm sorry about the shoulder pain zinginess. At least this shoulder pain will hopefully lead to a functional arm and shoulder for you, after all you have gone through. Thinking of you as you recover.
Lahela, I am in on the group hug for YOU! No mets---such a relief! Radiation, not so much. We are with you all the way.

Movie, darlin', words can not express my sadness for you and your girls. Stay brave and know that we are all holding you in our hearts.
SBE - dang, girl. So glad they finally decided to take a head on approach with the cellulitis. No chance in hell of it happening again!

Oh Movie my heart hurts for you! Let us carry at least some of your sadness so you are not so burdened. Big warm totally comforting hugs to you. I am crying with you.
honestly my first reaction after reading lifie's post (thanks for that) was anger at the unfairness! If I recall correctly, wasn't it Movie's photo with her PS posted not so long ago? She had too short a time to enjoy being done and time like that with her hubby before the next gigantic thing on her plate. Movie, you have had enough huge platefuls of stuff to deal with for several lifetimes. No more.
Lahela - happy news! I am please to hear that your tx will be rads - i bet it would be a one time focused dose - or at least that is what I hope for you. I suspect here in US they don't do that but would do surgery (which would have longer recovery)....not sure though.
sbelizabeth enjoy the hamster tube. you are strong and brave!

Oh Movie, words cannot express how sorry I am for you loss. It's wrong, and unimaginable. I am sending much love, and hugs. I know the girls will surround you with love and strength when they see you. You, and your family are in my prayers.

sbelizabeth and Lahela - great days ahead for you

I'm back from a cardio visit that lasted 4 hours and what seemed like forever. Doc was concerned about some recent episodes that popped up on my pacemaker monitor and sent me for a ct scan. It took 5 nurses 3 tries (2 nurses were moral support and cheerleaders?) to get into vein. One said, "Just use her right arm." I didn't bite her head off but wanted to and told her NO quite emphatically. Ruling out a PE, which I think is far fetched. That marathon wasn't on my schedule for today so I came home to do chores and will save bra shopping for another day.

Aww, Teacher, I'm sorry. That vein stuff can literally be such a pain. Your story brings back memories of my CT before DIEP. Even the head of the CT dep't. painfully bungled trying to get an IV in a foot vein. And then, since it was in my foot, they couldn't even time it right to get the CT of my belly. All for naught. Good for you for saying NO! to your compromised arm! Don't work too hard.

Great news, Jeannie and Lahela! Love to hear benign news.
Sbel, I would have loved to see you and Wilbur in that tube together. Hope you have some good movies picked out.
Movie, Dear, sending you love and helping the other flappers floating you on that raft. We are all looking forward to some real-life hugs with you.
Lahela, we can definitely manage a group hug for you.

Lahela I am so happy for your news. I'm sorry it's anything at all, but it's good to have answers and a treatment plan.
Sbel....you're such a trooper, girl, I can't wait to see you dancing!
Teacher keep us posted and I'm sorry no bra shopping. And good for you for sticking up for your arm. I was thinking about such things the other day and thought maybe I would put a picture of a woman with LE swelling in my wallet.....so I could show someone who wants to stick my arm exactly what I am trying to avoid.
I'm so glad it's Friday. It's been a long, long week. Sitting here with Movie and her family on my mind. Sigh. Tears. So difficult. I'm strong of faith and believe with every cell of my being, but man, oh, man, I sure do have some questions.
Love to all.
