sbe- that is what I would be afriad of too. So would I ask for french tips? I love the look of a french manicure, very clean.

Thanks Sbel......I love being "essentially unremarkable" !!!! I pray I am so for the rest of my very long life !!!
Sweet I think what Sbel means is the "new" gel manicure you can get. Doesn't require a tip. GOes on like nail polish, but they "cure" it between each coat with a UV lamp. Takes a bit longer, but also lasts 2-3 weeks. It is my favorite beauty thing EVER. I get a french and then you can't see it as it grows out as much. It is not as damaging to your nails as acrylics. You still go back every 2-3 weeks to get it redone, like acrylics, but it's your own nail. THey aren't thick like acrylics either, which I love.

I am doing the shellac nail - same as gel. It enables your own nails to grow out & looks so natural!0 -
I did shellac and gelish gel nails for quite a while. Mine would last maybe 2 weeks. They will still thin your natural nails. I was so excited as they were supporting my normally chippy, peely nails, getting longer and longer. Then I had to soak them off at home and realized just how thin my nails had become. Many salons use the LED lights to harden, but others use the UV. There are questions about the exposure to the UV. I finally gave up. Every two weeks was costing between $25 and $35 for gel depending on the salon. They were wonderful looking. Sigh.0 -
Yeah, I gave up on the nail thing too.......my natural nails were looking so thin! Not sure if they will ever recover........ Now I just keep my natural fingernails shortish, and do pedicures........I can hold polish on my toenails!0 -
Movie - my nails have come back to their usual state. Haven't done gel in more than a year. Gotta remember it takes 6 months for the nail to grow all the way out. The past few months, I have added beef bone broth to my daily drinks. It has so many wonderful minerals and gelatin. I think it really may be helping.0 -
Back from Seattle and now reading posts to catch up. (4 pages)
Bailey- What fantastic news for you. CELEBRATION!!!! What a difference that can make in our attitude. You handled this much better than I could have. So happy for you.
Jeannie- Love your new tattoo sleeve. "Bad ass" for sure.
Movie- Sure hope you are feeling better today. Baby steps and this too shall pass. It is so hard not to sleep and so important for healing. Pain meds, soothing tea, sleep aid, Zzzzzzzz.
I have only had a manicure a few times in my life. My nails have ridges that drive me nutso. I keep them short. I make up for it with the money I spend on my hair. (Covering that gray!!)
Very keyed for tonight's football game. Michigan State vs. Ohio St. If we win it is roses for us. GO GREEN!!!0 -
Bailey and Cherrie, congrats on MSU's win! Who's going to Pasadena??0 -
Trying to get tickets. I will know in two or three days. I can't afford this, but it may never happen again. My daughter and hubby will stay in LA with a BIL. So excited for my Spartans.0 -
cherrie.....that sounds like a fun New Year's!!!!! Hope you get some tickets and a place to crash.....go for it, I say!!!!!
Holy Crap, batman.....I have discovered there is waaaaay more feeling in my tummy than I thought. (ouch). Spent the weekend doing a First Aid/CPR course (ouch), and the instructor was great, but because of the reason for the class....really stressed the CPR component....(ouch)....it's like I did boot camp after being a couch potato.....(ouch).....I was thinking my knees would be sore (ouch).....but whoa nellie.....she had the CPR dummies scattered all around the area, and every so often she would say "crash" and we had to get to a dummy and start compressions....(ouch) 30/2....30/2.....30/2......over and over and over! Great class though!!!!!
It's almost balmy here this evening.....-14, are you all enjoying the weather I've sent you!!!!!!!0 -
Sounds like a fun trip, Cherrie!
Nihahi....thanks for the weather........not! Glad you enjoyed (sort of) your CPR class.....you can recusitate (sp?) me the next time we go warp speed up an incline.......0 -
Nihahi, just keep doing those compressions. I keep the statistics for our area's sudden cardiac arrest survival, and last year we had fifty-two people discharged from the hospital and return to their families and friends because of CPR! Before we started really emphasizing the importance of plain old CPR, I think we had just two or three people discharged alive. But I have to say...your instructor sounds a little sadistic...or maybe it's just a new way to strengthen the abs?
Not going to work today, but do you think I could sleep in late? Nope. The eyeballs are so used to getting more air at this hour their lids just naturally roll up.0 -
Morning everyone!
awww....sorry about the weather "gift"! Hope you all stay safe and warm. You've got to admit though, seeing the clips of the football players with helmets full of snow after being tackled IS kind of funny....don't ya think ! Not to worry, it'll find it's way back here soon enough.
sbe...hope you get to nap in the tube....just such a neat experience!!!!!! Civilian CPR stats are pretty sobering, eh!
yep, that instructor was hard core, but she had been asked to be, and we all agreed to it (it was just RC Disaster recruits in the class). Hands down the best First Aid instructor I have ever had. She is an ex-Military Police, ex-California paramedic, ex-Colorado State Trouper and just to finish her resume, an ex-Colorado Prison Guard....also absolutely, tears in your eyes, hysterically funny.
Big wakeup call for me to stop babying my abs and get the ol' Pilates Ball out.....no more daydreaming on the treadmill. I kind of knew I was overdue for that mindset, when I was sore after skiing last weekend...denial is SUCH as lovely thing, eh! I didn't go so far as to flash my reason, but I did "opt out" of being a Heimlich victim....just didn't want to go there quite yet!0 -
my physio is working on my oblique and hip flexion. May be I should take a CPR class so I get to work on them for free...0 -
DHubs was laid off today along with others. Merry Christmas!0 -
Oh no Jeannie!!!!! I dont even know what to say, you have had so much going on and now this. My thougts and prayers are with you guys.

CRAP. Plot twist for Jeannie and her DH, please0 -
Oh Jeannie. I am so sorry this is happening now. That sucks!! My thoughts are with you and hubby. ((((Hugs))))0 -
crap jeannie.....just .....CRAP!!!!!!0 -
Jeannie, I'm so sorry. My heart just flopped to the floor for you. I wish there was something to say or do that would make it better.
But let us be your life raft, dear friend. Our strength and our prayers are for you.0 -
Sorry, Jeannie. Prayers for something good to come out of this, even though that is hard to imagine at this point.0 -
Jeannie - After all you guys have been through, you think the universe would be a little kinder. Damn universe. Hopefully the kindness comes soon, and until then you have us.
Tell your hubby that there are a bunch of women with new (newish, soon to be new) boobs who are sending him love. And to you too Jeannie.0 -
Jeannie, so sorry you are going through so much!
Sending support and hug for a stressful time!0 -
oh Jeannie, I am so sorry you and DH are going through this. It's so difficult to do at rough times like these, but try to draw strength from the positive things you can be thankful for. I will be praying for you both.0 -
I'm so sorry Jeannie. Life is just not fair. Prayers go out for you two.0 -
jeannie..... others laid off too.....maybe you and hubby can "network" a bit, kind of a support group thing????...hope the weather is good enough for awhile so you and hubby can get out for walks.....fresh air can bring a whole lot of stress relief, at least that is what works for me.
tammyt....cute avatar...I admit, yesterday I couldn't figure out what it was...
cherrie....hope the shoulders sort themselves out....but, you have to make it a priority....you defo do not want to go the frozen shoulder route if you can avoid it!!!!!0 -
Nihahi- Ice on as we speak. It is my focus. Following PT instructions. The process takes one hour two times a day. ( 2 hours) and that does not include icing during the day. Holy moly!
Jeannie- We are here for you girl.0 -
Thanks, nihahi. The little patch on her left glove caught my heart. For all of us:0 -
cherrie...good on you, girl! I, for one, think you are totally worth XXXXX amount of time it takes in a day to get this sorted out. Remember.....if you run low on ice..........I'm just saying! Ask your daughter to have a couple bags of frozen peas waiting for you!
When you are travelling to VA....you can still ice in the car....you can buy little pouches, (about 6x6") that become icepacks when you activate them. No need to have ice melting on your shoulder in the car. They aren't reusable, so would be pricey for long term use, but are very effective and are certainly better than nothing. Maybe keep a pillow on your lap, and rest your arms on the pillow, so you don't have alot of drag on the shoulders while sitting. Above all.....don't stay in any position for hours at a time....move (gently and within pain free range)....ice....move.....ice.....You'll get there!!!!!!!!0 -
tammy ((((X))))....I'm guessing her shorts are from her "pre-tummy flap" wardrobe!!!! Those sure aren't like movie's compression squeezie!!!0
