I cannot express adequately how much it pleases me to see new growth on my plants. Yet some of my plants are not thriving. Since most of my plants are hard to kill, they're slow to die. I'm not even sure some are really alive. Plant angst.

Hot out!
Calls for Summertime by Miles Davis.

I am going to see Pat Metheny in October. He's been a favorite forever, will be a real treat. His album Under the Missouri Sky is the best.
The Moon's a Harsh Mistress is a favorite of mine. Judy Collins has a really lovely version of this too

DaCamera decided to continue live streaming in addition to the season's concerts in person here in Houston. Tonight was the first in the Jazz series & I just got to see Dianne Reeves "live"!!! And her group started with "Summertime" - so I'll go listen to your Miles Davis link in a few Serenity.
Those of you who have seen Dianne know that most of the time when she's 'talking' she's singing it. (I was thinking the word 'patter', but that is not correct when I looked up the definition) She did an amazing musical rendition of how she found out about last year's quarantine & how she lived through - the first time she'd been in one place for any amount of time for 35-40 years. Towards the end when she was singing her introductions of the band members, and her thanks to the audience - if you listened really closely she sang:
"...remember to keep your hands washed & your masks on & don't believe what your governor says..." Right on!!!

Serenity - love all the songs from Porgy & Bess. This a great rendition of Summertime.
Jazzy - I first hear The Moon's a Harsh Mistress by Glenn Campbell in 1975. I'd forgotten it's a Jimmy Webb song.
Here's a version of my favorite songs - "Hey, That's no Way to Say Goodbye" with Judy Collins and Leonard Cohen - 1976. I'm in a melancholy mood tonight. Edited to say - and I think I first heard this song from Roberta Flack - then Judy Collins.

Minus - Been a Gershwin fan since I was a teenager. I saw Porgy and Bess performed by a local gospel choir. Love hearing different renditions of Summertime.

Jazzy - Flowers are gorgeous! I love banana bread. 👍
Saw my MO this morning. After 3 months without Ibrance my TMs remain stable! Since the rash is gone, I can restart Ibrance. My husband's getting celebratory burgers. 🎉

Serenity - "kool" is a great way to start the day. Good news about your stable TM's. Definitely a celebration.

It's been 4 years since I had sciatica. I could barely sit for dinner. I was on so many meds for it. The neurologist who told me I would have that pain for the rest of my life was sooo wrong.

SerenitySTAT, that made me smile. I remember your sciatica saga. Good for you for healing yourself! ❤️

Pi-Xi - Thanks! I was in so much pain. It's why I started this thread almost 5 years ago.

Learning the names of the mRNA vaccines. I'm so happy to be Spikevax'ed! Worth the rash.
