Congrats!!! On good scans. Always wonderful to hear that. Who hoooo!!!
Am in pockets for anyone scanning. Not feeling good. Or feeling anxious. Hugs to all!4 -
Malleemiss - Love the "suitably celebratory" word combination. I think there's a bit of the creative writer in you?

Well, today is a nice but cooler day which is fine with me. I actually did a PT exercise workout which covered all ankle exercises, bridge pose, legs turned out sideways for hip action and lifting my legs both straight up and also bring bent leg to chest, all to a count of 10. I turned on my Paul Eugene senior gold chair workout for 10 mins. Bent knees to get a good march going. Arms were modified as I cannot swing them when on the bed. Still a fun workout, brings back good memories of doing that with Mom. I also worked on pulling myself up to the sitting position as well. Have to get back to ten, only managed two. Reason I prefer the bed working out is it gets done in the morning right away which works well for me instead of procrastinating.
Debating a walk to the neighbourhood grocery store, it is nice and sunny, if I do not go outside then I will perhaps march every hour for 5 mins I am up, just to music. I am supposed to do some stepping on the bench as well, I will see about that, I don't usually have trouble with going up stairs. I am not fast but find it doable. Option two of walking would happen if I wanted lunch. If I do not go to the grocery store today, going to call SIL and find out if any shopping taking place tonight in which case, a walk to order a happy meal will be in order. I have no real reason right now not to walk, last time walking and falling did involve a cane and if I felt unsteady, could take both canes and move them up ahead and step, be like four legs on the floor. If I get tired, lots of bus on my smart card. It is too bad Paratransit does not take those.
Edited: I am going for a nutritious breakfast again, this time and go with me, taking a 1/4 cup black beans, 1/4 cup green peas and 1/4 cup of lentils. Also adding some shredded cheese and . Will be adding portions into the chopper with croutons and chips. Comes out similar to ground beef, figuring I will add some taco seasoning and cheez whiz in the pan. Will likely be two meals and can have the other meal for a dinner. I may also cook up some rice first to make this a complete protein meal. Definitely not a one dish meal which is good. Better get to it. Edited to add, I did the green beans, peas, lentils and rice, all chopped in with chips and shredded cheese. Put in frypan and melted butter and a small spray of oil on high but should have turned down as some stuff stuck to the frypan. Also opened wrong end of taco seasoning, got a bunch in, added some water. I needed to add quite a bit of sour cream just to tone it down a bit. Got out of the pan in a big bowl and it is filling which is really good. I cannot even tell there are peas which I normally hate. Was a good meal.
I hope everyone has a good day and I am in everyon e's pocket who needs me.

Cookie, Edited. DB and SIL did not need to go to Costco so we walked around the mall. I did stick to two budgets I set, one was to only spend 10.00 at the dollar store. Proud of myself for that and proud I walked down the many stairs slowly and then went up the many stairs as well. Met budget with Walmart as well, less than 20 dollars. Got my sour cream and 3 frozen meals and some chocolate. Did pick up a happy meal for tomorrow, can combine it or eat as is. Will likely just heat up.
Only splurge I got was when I was in Sephora, I wanted some of the contour cream and a blender just to define my features a bit. My cheeks already are hollowed even though my head is square but it will be fun to try them and see what I can do. Enjoyed the walking through the mall, only needed one sit for a minute post stairs and it was a pleasant evening.

Hi everyone 😁 We are back in Houston. The tumor board reviewed the advanced brain MRI and recommended radiation to the two new spots, which I’ll start on Monday. It’ll be 5 sessions to the specific area, so I’m not expecting any significant or long term side effects. We’ll visit a few friends while we’re here, then heading home next Friday.

@illimae, it is good to have a plan and then be able to get home quickly - in your pocket with gentle hugs.

@tougholdcrow Lovely dog and such a peaceful setting. Congrats on stable scans! Well earned.
@shanagirl How did your scans go? Waiting is harder for me than the scan!
I had my first real cancer PT today. Did 40 minutes of straight exercises. Well, rested a little in between. Did six minutes on the treadmill which is alI could do before my pulse went too high, several core exercises and some balance exercises. Nothing too different from my pain PT I did six months ago but they were a little different. I am tired but she didn't want me too tired. We shall see how my pain level measures. She stretched my hips and thighs a bit and that is where I expect the pain. She is focusing on core, balance, and endurance. It was fine. I am hoping maybe to lose a little bit of weight too as I have crept up 10 pounds this last year. I know I have to increase my activity level.
10 -
@illimae Best wishes with your radiation
@intolight That PT sounds great!
6 -
@intolight After 7 years with brain mets, 6 previous radiation treatments and a craniotomy, a small progression is not a big deal to me. I lost my shit about it early on but now it become routine. Surviving the scary stuff has actually been very beneficial to my overall outlook.

Thanks for your support and listening, lovely ladies. Mara, I appreciate your suggestion. I managed to file a complaint, and I’m glad I did, at least now it’s recorded in their system.
Mel, if you don’t need to see your MO every month, would you consider switching to a clinic farther away? maybe you or your daughter could manage the occasional trip? having a good relationship with your MO is key. we already have so many things out of our control, but having a say in the little things still counts.
Intolight, the cancer PT sounds great
Mae, I always admire your attitude toward this disease, in your pocket
Tougholdcrow - beautiful picture
Sondra, how are you?

Mara Glad you got out for a bit and were able to stick to your budget. Plus the treat of chocolate and personal care cream is a nice treat!
@illimae In your pocket for rads your strength is always admirable. Enjoy visiting with friends while your there. It's nice to be able to incorporate some fun with treatment.
intolight Sounds like your PT was pretty thorough and a good focused plan. Always a good idea for everyone to boost endurance with this marathon we run daily.
Thinking of Carol today❤️. In everyone's pockets for appointments and those waiting on results.❌⭕️

Congrats on stable - we need good news! Hoping those that just scanned get the same news.
Mae - here for pocket duty for radiation. Hope it does the job for you.OMG can’t wait for the election to be done. Nuff said.
Sending positive vibes to all.

Mae, in pocket for you treatment.
Tired from lack of sleep, that is OK, it happens. Feeling irritable, not for any reason. Just doing regular stuff, laundry, drain it and keep going, current washer functioning. I think I may know how I caused both washers to stop draining which was washing those large blankets even by hand, too much water in the system. No longer washing large blankets of any sort except the throw size. I have a garbage bin not used for garbage which has been washed out, 10 gallon, can throw the big ones in there and use a wand washer to clean, drain with my pump and spin dry. Would just drape the blankets over the top of the bin to drip out a bit. Easy peasy for me. Better than the tub and the wand washer actually does a good job on laundry since it moves water around so well.
Doing budget boosting activity, watch tv and paid for the ads, the channel is a recipe channel, most of the ads are related to pasta which looks delicious in the ads. Since I am exhausted, will take a day off of most of the obligations and just stick to basics, vacuum, litter and of course laundry.
I did treat myself to a breakfast meal at Mc D out of the shopping budget since I was under my set budget. Also got a happy meal I purchased last night.
I hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for all who needs me and in my own budget so I can stop being so irritable for no reason. Will soon put music on and play some mobile games for more budget boosting.

Did not sleep much but it is beautiful and sunny here so feeling pretty good. I have laundry to do, lots of it so will do throughout the day in more than one washer, even salad spinner washer if need be. Vacuuming, dusting etc. Also putting budget boosting tv and phone videos on to boost up. Working toward getting the next round of cat food free. Also planning to cancel a lot of my streaming, I have one channel pack on amazon that only covers me watching young and the restless, really do not need it for one show when it is free to view the next day. Save on that and also cancel the paramount streaming, another money suck I do not use often enough. Enough free options on streaming and I use the premium youtube every day, keeping it.
Fiirst meal of the day were heavy in the lentils. Took 1/4 cup of beans and lentil mix and 1/4 cup of peas and lentils. Chopped into chips I am trying to get finished and heavily seasoned with stuff I am trying to use up. Used a garlic parmesan dry seasoning and garlic alfredo seasoning, added some salt. Heated 2 mins in microwave, pulled out. Added some sour cream as a binder. It just looked like a pile of ground beef but the seasoning and sour cream all came together well. Still full after a couple of hours. Later, just having an egg sandwich.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend, in pockets for everyone as well.

had some family and friends over to celebrate my dd 29th birthday. It was wonderful. My son has gotten a new job as a manager at a ford parts department and he’s finally making adult money. So he bought her, her own Xbox so they can hang out together and play games like they were younger online. I thought it was so sweet. The day was a great time to stop and be thankful for my family who I love so much. I’ll take many more of those days please. Hope all is well for you ladies. Have a good rest of your weekend.

Mel, what a thoughtful gift your son gave DD, I am glad she had a great birthday and it was good for you as well. These good times are good when they happen and glad it was good for you and your family.
EDited, using the other washer that does not drain for the simple reason there is too much stuff to deal with between the two washers, will lay a towel in the spinner part at the bottom and it will still spin out some of the water. Just too much if I don't have access to both and not at the point of moving elsewhere yet. As far as the pump, it sounds OK today so will pump some out and just place towels to absorb it. Then put in my tumble dryer.
Hard to type, cat is partly on my lap which is the cutest problem to have I know. Planning simple stuff today. A bean/lentil and egg meal, everything chopped up, unsure of seasonings, probably garlic or something else. Get frypan buttered on bottom and put some of the frozen peppers and potato in as well, sounds good to me as a side dish. I still want to try my version of a pasta sort of salad as well, cook up some of my dry pasta like KD or something, and drain, put in the fridge to cool off. Put some baby spinach and eat that way. Sounds good to me. Use the cheese powder for my bean meals.
I do hope everyone has really good day, it will be good for me too, I believe it, I really want to get all chores done earlier, finding that I leave them throughout the day and don't start again til evening it causes me to be up too late. I am endeavouring to have everything done by 8pm.

Mel - So glad to hear about your wonderful day with family and friends. Happy Birthday to your daughter! I know how it is so heartwarming to see your own children as adults, spending that "kid type" time together still. I remember my father just beaming when my brother and I would do something fun together again like we did as kids - especially after our mother died and we were in our 50's or so. I could tell he was remembering all those years ago when his kids were little and played together.
Yes, being thankful for family and wanting to enjoy many more days with them! I know you will have many, many more of those days. Thanks for the "have a good-weekend" wishes to all of us, and I hope you continue to ride this family and birthday high for many more days yet to come! It's long past time for you to have a good string of days. Hug.

Mel - how wonderful to be able to share DD birthday with others. Hope that put a huge smile on your face😊. Love her gift from her brother❤️

Late night again, got to stop doing that but I did sleep pretty well. Nice and sunny here. I may walk up to either the nearby grocery store or the burger joint, not Mcdonalds and get a burger. We will see. I could also walk to Mcdonalds. If I do go there, would get the happy meal or a couple of the junior size burgers. Not sure. Not going to try to put into other meals, just eat them.
For now, using non draining washer since it is bigger. Spin dryer has a big towel to avoid liquid in there. Pumping the washing side, tossing in the bigger panda spinner, sending off to tumble dryer. I am debating the move to a 5 gallon and doing the wand washing as I realize I can pump the water out before tipping to avoid a flood in the tub. Clothes are just as clean wand washing and it would be easier. 5 gallon bucket would work well until new washer arrives. I will see, I am basically used to the pumping out and using the panda as well and drying out towels that absorbed the water so nothing is moldy.
My brunch I will call it was good. Took a mini griddle and used an extra large egg, added some lentil and beans with a bit of bacon I need to use up. Cooked it, turned out bigger than the english muffin I toasted with butter so folded the egg mix in half, added some mayo to the top half of the english muffin and ate it. It was like a big mac in that not everything stayed where it should have but I had a cloth I was using as napkin. It tasted really good to me. I've been watching a lot of a youtube channel called countertop cooking as they use a lot of the dash kitchen mini cookers and make all sorts of stuff. I love it.
I do hope everyone is having a good day, pockets of course for everyone who may need me.

Well, amazon says my new washer is going to be delivered today, I will likely keep checking the door so they don't drop it at a pickup site. UPS is delivering so you never know if they will cal that they are here. Also have no idea about getting it upstairs as not sure drivers go upstairs. Fingers crossed anyway. Doing laundry on the non draining one to account for some larger towels in there. Have the rinse cycle to finish, spin and off to the dryer. I have also thought about putting the new one on a trunk in the living room and draining into a pail, it could work. I will see. With the new one, just planning
Doing some budget boosting today, nothing too heavy duty. Just have the TV going as I am tracking the UPS.
Edited I decided to take two of the extra large eggs and some shredded cheese and microwave for 2 min and 30 seconds, wanted something quick. Added sour cream and onion dry seasoning and salt bound with you guessed it, sour cream. It was really good. I feel anxious to get my washer so wanted my food quickly. Unsure what veggies, perhaps some chopped potato cubes or pull out the second griddle and cook both at the same time, must remember to put a cutting board over sink to give me more work space as well. I do love those Dash minis to make different things. May try to cook a pile of lentil and bean into a burger and see how that goes.
Other than that, not much happening here, rainy, have not done PT yet but can do that on bed anytime. I do believe the strengthened ankles from their exercises have made a great difference in them holding me steadier, bridge pose good for leg and core strength as well.
Hoping for a good day for all, in pockets for all that need me, own pocket to figure out carting this upstairs.
Because I am so anxious to get my delivery, have been pacing inside and outside to make sure I do not miss anything and in the hopes the driver will notice my cane and help me up the stairs. Got 7500 steps so far today from pacing back and forth. No washer here yet. Hence the pacing, not upset over the steps so far though. Just going to wait it out. Staying on the couch til 3 if nothing shows up, do more pacing.

So, I’ve decided to go trick or treating this year. I’ll be wearing a micheal myers (Halloween), hopefully no one will realize how old I am, lol. I’m planning to start at my old neighborhood and possibly branch out if my candy haul isn’t adequate.
13 -
Illimae-Why not? I get some adults trick or treating every year. Usually they have some child with them but when it's an infant, I know it's for the adult. The whole point is to share joy and happiness so if an adult wants candy, I am fine with it. Hope that you get a good haul. Could you disguise your pups as infants? 😉

Go right ahead Mae and enjoy yourself for sure. Teenagers still do it and with the mask, doubt anyone would be negative about it.
My washer just arrived, good thing I did not keep pacing although the pacing let me know there is an easy way to keep up and get a good amount of steps. I also did not have to drag it upstairs. That was nice too.

Well, got the thing out of the box finally. Lots of styrofoam and a huge box for recycling. At least recycle not going out til Thursday night which is good. After another meal, will get the old washer out of the tub and put new one in its place. Have to pump old washer first and then put in closet, just unplugged the new one which i s a bit bigger than the non draining one. I have no intention of washing any blanket bigger than a throw blanket and if necessary, take the other two to a laundromat. If there is a lot of laundry, use the wee one on the side. Wow, back is sore from trying to get the old washer in the closet, not out of woods yet, more to do but having to take frequent breaks too. Tiring for me but must persist. Got to move new washer into tub and get plugged in then I will be done tonight when pick up stuff from closet. Crying from exhaustion, happy for the new washer.

Mara Happy to hear you got your new washer! Fingers crossed that it works as expected. Hope your feeling ok today after such a busy day yesterday.
Mae Go for it, collect some Reese's for me, how fun! My DH loves Halloween, he makes a scary display every year. All the neighborhood adults and kids look forward to it. Always a fun night!
Mel Happy belated bday to your DD, glad to hear you enjoyed celebrating together! My daughter just turned 30 and my son is 25, they are finally closing the age gap. Love to see them interact and laugh together.
Hi to all here, sending good vibes for the day.👻

Cookie54, yes the new washer is working quite well. It was hard work getting all the packaging together but that is OK, it is bigger than the other one, has a lint filter that I cannot open but I have two lint filters I use anyway which is good. Took old one to closet until it can be disposed of. Got the giant box to get rid of along with a boatload of styrofoam but I am happy with the washer, it could wash all towels, no blankets going in other than throw blankets. So far I am happy with it. Easy to use and does drain and spin well. If I need to get all the water out, Panda spinner right next to it. It is quite large, a large towel that would have filled older non draining washer does not reach even half as high. I have the packaging and huge box that need to be taken care of, box is as big as my door, that will be easier than getting washer out etc but obviously doable. I was lucky to have done some pacing outside, not far from my place, the walking around netted the 7500 steps which was good, took breaks. I thought package would come through front but brought through back open door.
Today, as it is still quite warm, the living room is also quite warm with the heat, feels like summer, fans are going, AC in living room and bedroom as well. Feels much more comfortable. Got some budget boosting stuff to do as well which is good, want some free cat food, still working toward 25 per week on groceries, easier right now due to overstocked pantry and freezer, if I want junk food, need to save up for it more. Less Amazon til everything paid off, no more impulse stuff either. Want to see cat food and litter beyond my streaming channels. That is about it.
Planning to have bean type meals with both meals, got quite a bit of lentils and beans in fridge. Decided to spray a bowl with cooking spray. Crack in two extra large eggs, put just under a 1/4 cup of lentil and bean mix. Put all in microwave for 3 mins. Of course it slid out of smaller bowl into larger one, dded sour cream and onion seasoning, taco seasoning and salt. Bound all together after cutting up with a scoop of sourcream. Filling and it was quite good.
I do hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for those who need me, in my own pocket to get chores done as well.
6 -
Mara, be careful with all that unpackaging and moving! Glad to hear you got your new washer.
Told myself this year I wasn't going to buy any Halloween candy, nope, not this year... and then the bag of snack-sized reeses peanut butter cups basically jumped into my cart. They're small! (said my brain, or maybe that was my stomach talking.) Eat some candy while I still can, right?
6 -
sfcakes, thank you so much, I got the worst of it last night just getting the new washer in the tub and the old one to sit in the closet until it can be taken to the dump. I just have a box and packaging to dispose of.
3 -
@sf-cakes I try hard not to eat Halloween candy early too. Last year I ate way too much! So far this year it has worked. I bought one big pack for the kids and have not opened it yet so I may make it. It is supposed to snow today and be extra cold tomorrow but I was hoping to run out of candy this year. Still might, but it is Colorado and the kids are acclamated to the cold. I taught school in Nashville a long time ago and remember they cancelled outdoor recess at the sight of the first snowflake because the kids didn't have warm coats. The kids here in Colorado Springs have outdoor recess until the temperature dips below 30°. My son shovelled snow in shorts! Of course it was sunny out.
