Well my busyness yesterday has caught up to me today. I have done an hour on my cubii and I walked almost an hour to get my burgers. That was a difficult walk due to lack of energy but it is done. On the plus side, the weather is quite comfortable. I really do hope DB and SIL don't call to go out. Not sure my energy would last. We'll see.

Well after yesterday's busyness walking and the rally in the local park, I am pretty tured today. I still managed an hour on my cubii and an almost hour long walk. Was a slog but only because of feeling tired. Weather is really beautiful today though, cannot complain about that. Probably will read or listen to music after lunch and keep pedaling.

Mel, I am exclusively wearing your masks as well as a couple of other facbric masks as well. The paper ones, even brand new keep breaking the strings. Not worth even buying.

We had my parents over for a socially distanced visit on our deck this morning. They're busy living downtown in a high rise condo and possibly exposed to cases so I'm continuing to maintain distance but it's awkward and sad since we live like 20 min away.

I have been feeling good though. Physically I don't even feel I'm doing chemo. It's weird.

CT scan in a couple hours. Not sure if I will use the port - it's still kind of sore. It's scan 3 since starting the trial. Fingers crossed everything is still stable or shrinking.

Hugs to everyone (&virtual brownies! Dd made a batch, yum)

Moth- In your pocket for your CT--- today, Sunday? And the brownies sound good. Rich and chewy. I have ice cream to top on those brownies. YUM.

I am having another quiet day inside. It is cloudy today. And warm. Watched church service online this morning. Reading book this afternoon. I did Zoom gaming last night (Saturday night) for a couple of hours. It is ok. Get to talk with other people-- 3 others in the group. But kind of wish we were playing something else. D&D not my favorite game, I am coming to realize. Yesterday (Saturday afternoon) I took out fall decorations to put around my house-- fake fall flowers and leaves, little trinkets, etc. I love fall and like to decorate by Sept 1.

Today I am just trying to be thankful for my cool airconditioned home, food in the pantry, a good book to read, computer to "talk" with you all. My mind always goes to how long do I have? How long until I am too sick to decorate, to vacuum and keep house?

Just feeling pensive today, I guess. Wish there was a Mel's Living Room for real.

Good luck on your scan moth. I hope it turns out to be Good news.

Mara, you amaze me. I wish I had the energy you do.

The gyms are going to be reopened tomorrow so I'm looking to start walking on the treadmill again. It's been way to hot here for any walks outside.

    Moth,

Thinking of you too. Hoping for excellent results.

Mae, I will continue to pray for full healing. You really are amazing how you take these things in stride. I am SO glad you can eat again. I know some of my eating and drinking choices have most likely led to my cancer, but I really like good food, and it was bugging me thinking that you couldn’t eat the things you love too. Let’s face it....some of the best food I ever had is in Texas. My youngest sister lives near Junction, and every time we visit, we have real Texas BBQ. OMG! So unbelievable. We may drive to see her for Christmas, so I’ll be thinking about that BBQ!

Hope you are all having a nice Sunday.

thank you for the scan pocket duty and for waiting for results with me! I should get results on Wednesday.

Good thing I didn't really want to use the port today as they didn't have an RN anyway - even after I asked especially about it & they assured me they would! Geez. They moved me to Sunday from Monday just a few days ago. I like going on weekends as it's so much emptier in the hospital but in future will have to note they don't always have RN coverage on weekends and the techs can't access the port. Took 3 tries to get a patent IV going for the CT today. It's really a sign of why I need the port. I will ask for Emla cream from the MO on Wed and I'll be all ready for chemo on Thurs.

Nothaving to water the garden is a big deal !!!!!

    Moth~ better have big pockets.

Mae~ I'll admit a floral ended up in your care package. I just sealed it up when I read that. It's a nice color. Comfortable also. I'll be mailing it early week. I hope you like what I chose.

I still have a good inventory left ladies so think about if your interested in some nice masks. I enjoy sharing them with everyone. I have blood work and xgeva on Tuesday so I'll be taking my little white basket with me.

    worried about Moomala!

Moth, here's hoping for good scan results on Wed. I have a CT on Fri. and I'm feeling anxious already. I usually get the results the next day but this time have to wait until next Tues. because of Labor Day.

Candy, I love Fall too! I bought a few new things this year and can't wait to put them out. I see the garden centers have beautiful selections of mums and I may get some to put by the front door. There's just something warm and cozy about Fall colors; I hope we have a long season.

Hi BooBoo. Things on the 'farm' are going well. Forest is bone dry and we cross fingers there are no storms with lightning or the house and everything we own will go poof. Meat chickens growing and soon we will be butchering. Happily have so far not been eaten by coyotes or bears and only had a few deaths to the hawk and then the owl.  Starting to clean out the garden of straggly plants , top the garden beds with horse manure. Mornings and nights are cool so we've lit a few fires in the wood stove and furnace to warm the house a bit. Soon the annual chore of lugging  about four cords of firewood into the basement will begin. God, it sounds like I'm living in some frontier village!

In July my Oncologist told me to get a blood test end of August. So today I phone the lab. Usually you just show up and sit there until they call you. But with the whole covid thing I thought it prudent to call ahead and see what the deal was. Now they are booking appointments. For blood tests. The soonest I can get in for a blood test is October 5th! Over a freaking month away. Who waits a month for a blood test? Rural Canadians, that's who.

Wow. You sound like Wonder Woman! Seriously, I envy you for having such a full life on the farm. I grew up on a farm (I come from a long line of farmers), and I have such wonderful memories of those days. Yes, it’s a lot of work, but so very satisfying at the end of the day. I’ll bet you sleep like a baby.

Over a month to get bloodwork? Crazy. I started getting my bloodwork done when I go in for my infusion. They do the bloodwork first, and then the chemo. It takes an extra half hour, but better than sitting in a waiting room.

So glad all is well. Thanks for the update. Nerdy

Lee- Pocket duty for you on Friday. I will bring Peanut M&M's --- hope you are not allergic. I love them--- easy to just pop in mouth and cannot eat just 1. I hate that you have to wait until after long weekend for results. I had that once--- Holiday weekend and waiting on results.

BevJen- Pocket duty for this week- MRI's Wed and Fri, I think.

    Mae- Scan yesterday? Results?

    Simone- Pocket duty today--scan today?

    Philly- Results of MRI?

Trying to keep up with everyone's scans. A lot right now.

Not much here. Called friend yesterday-- she is having health issues (low BP) and changing her meds around. Called another friend this morning-- her adult son is in hospital with blood clots. She cannot go see him due to Covid restrictions. I may wash curtains later today-- not done it in a while and kind of "fall cleaning".

    Waving hello to Candy!

    Chicagoan- Scans for you????

  • chicagoan
    chicagoan Member Posts: 1,084

    Hi Candy,

I had scans last week. It seems like I am still stable-my primary tumor can vary by a few mm's on readings-it was slightly larger this time but neither my MO or I think it is progression. It was the exact same dimension in October 2019. Just something to watch...like everything else! I am going in this week for my appointment and hope I can get the flu shot while I am there. Thanks for asking. I should take down my curtains and wash them too-I didn't get to it last spring so it's time.

Chicagoan, glad to hear you are stable. My curtains should be washed too but I honestly don't know how to get them down. Will have SIL help since she put them up.

Moomala, yes please check in if you can.

Glad to read Philly is doing well too.

Runor, that is a lot of work, takes a lot of strength to run a farm

Candy, hello there, I am sorry to hear about your friends. Glad there is nothing going on for you.

I had the hardest time walking to the grocery store. I have to go to the one further away from me because the closer one won't take my gift cards for their store. It was humid, not super hot though but from the first step out the door, I felt like my legs were made of cement. I adjusted my pace accordingly, shorter strides and making sure both legs were being lifted as when I am tired, I can tend to shuffle. Got to the store, got almost everything I needed, forgot oatmeal cookies. Left and for some reason the walk home was easier. Not sure if the walk was hard because I did not give myself time to wake up, just washed up and left or what but it wasn't any fun. I know after breakfast and being cooler, I will feel better. No more walks for me I think, just going to get breakfast and use my elliptical for another hour or too.

Thanks for the pocket duty yesterday, I appreciate it.

    Results are stable, yay!

Waiting on advanced brain MRI now to get a better look at two previously treated spots that may or may not be acting up again, those results tomorrow.

    candy-678 Member Posts: 4,176

Mel- Hope "routine" shots and bloodwork goes ok today.

Chicagoan- Woohoo on stable scans. I understand the mm changes- mine does that too. But still consider it "stable".

mara- You amaze me. I could not do all that walking like you do.

Mae- Woohoo to you too. Let us know about the advanced MRI results.

Found out a person I used to work with -- she still works there, but I do not -- is on a ventilator with Covid. So sad. This is why I do not like getting out. It is thick in our area. And some do ok and some do not. Never know who will be in which category. So I stay inside.

Candy, I will say it was difficult both ways. It is more stubbornness than physical ability. I also do not try to walk briskly. Today was slow walking for sure. Once I cooled down I felt good after breakfast. Sat around this afternoon except for a few minutes of mini elliptical and laundry. Lots of napping as well. Good day. Going out tonight with my brother and sister in law.
