Well I never got through cleaning my house yesterday because I got too tired after the kitchen. My house is pretty small too. :( However. I did jumped right in mowing my two lawns today and accomplished that goal! Now I'm going to take a little rest and start in on this house again.

    Have a great day everyone!

Back from my latest adventure which included taking in an art exhibition in Seattle, camping for 3 nights at the John Wayne Waterfront Resort, a trip to the Pacific Coast at La Push, swimming in Lake Crescent which is glacier-fed, a spot of hiking on Hurricane Ridge (you drive up), and the Tour de Lavender metric century yesterday. This is my absolute favorite ride.

I am home cleaning up and recovering from all the excitement. An absolutely grand time. Pictures follow. - Claire

Starting out yesterday: view from the Discovery Trail of the Olympic Mountains.

    Congratulations, Salsa! You are AWESOME!

    Beautiful pictures, Claire!

I am now home from my family reunion, where I had a wonderful time. I have really, really nice relatives and it was so fun to hang out with them, hear old and new family stories etc. No exercise yesterday, and today it was 'sitting in the car for hours & hours'. I am catching up now that I'm home & will get back to my regular exercise life tomorrow.

    Hi Everyone!

Ruth, I am glad you have such a nice family. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! I know about long road trips. I've been in the car more than I prefer all summer. We had some great times but it's a bit stiffening to the joints for me.

2Fun, my condolences on the loss of your friend to this terrible disease

Wonderland, I hope your Ireland trip was wonderful

Claire, great pix to inspire us.

    Homemadesalsa, Congrats to you!

Lilac, thanks for asking- it's been six weeks and already the nip is flattening a bit. But the boobshape is good and I feel fine in a bathing suit! When does the DS return to uni?

We moved the DD into her apt in Syracuse on Saturday, loading and unloading a Uhaul- 2nd floor. Been practicing yoga every morning, and yesterday the DH and I ran on the rail trail. We were intending to go 3 miles but had to turn back early as a big sign warned of a bear and two cubs on the second segment of the trail.

    Last Call for Nashville!

(This is for new gals & and anyone else who missed the information earlier.)

Some of us on this thread take an annual Road Trip. Last fall we went to Daytona Beach for Trip #7 and this fall we are planning a trip to Nashville. Anyone who would like to come is invited. The only requirements are that you have to like to laugh, eat, move, and are flexible about sleeping arrangements, sharing bathrooms, schedules etc. etc.

Here's the information. If you are interested PM me with your 'real' name and email address by August 18th. We need a 'who's coming for sure' list so we can get tickets to shows etc.etc. ahead of time.

    What? 2018 BCO Road Trip

    When? October 9-15

Details: October 9-12, we'll spend 4 nights in Nashville (at the Wyndham, thanks to patoo who is sharing her timeshare with us), and October 13-14, we'll spend 2 nights in the mountains (thanks to hbcheryl, we will be at her friend's Bed and Breakfast in Mount Eagle, 90 miles from Nashville). Home again on the 15th.

Why? Because it is really, really fun to meet up in person; and there's lots of interesting things to see and do in the Nashville area!

    Salsa - truly an inspiration!

Karen - welcome home, glad you had a wonderful trip.

Claire - just gorgeous photos, thanks for sharing your little bit of heaven with us.

So hot and humid here, just makes you feel like blah! We don't have air conditioning, so it is tough sleeping at night too. Yesterday evening we went out on the boat to have dinner and just chill, it was really nice.

I'd like to add to what Ruth posted above. It is really fun to meet up in person. Last year, for the very first time, I decided to join the BCO trip to Daytona. It can be a little nerve-wracking going on vacation with a group of women that you only know virtually, but I took a step outside my comfort zone, and boy am I ever glad I did. These ladies are warm, welcoming, and know how to have fun. So if this appeals to you at all, take a step outside your comfort zone, and come join us, you won't be disappointed!

Today's exercise was a 5k run plus a swim in a swimming hole I discovered a couple of months ago. Some additional walking brings the total up to 5.5 miles plus about 30 minutes of swimming in the Lower Snoqualmie River.

Got in a bit of stretching cleaning out the fridge so I can replace the mysterious items at the back with real food for my dinner party which is in 3 days. Roasting carrots for the salad and cooking up an Emmer faro risotto with shallots and dried mushrooms. (Home-dried in the aforementioned fridge.) - Claire

Salsa , you are amazing. Claire, enjoyed the photos and delicious dinner. Falconer, perhaps 1st week of Sept. and DS is moving into shared house, not the dorms. Mine flattened a bit but nowhere near the flat that implants can create. Glad to read all is going well. Varga, you are so kind to all too. HeidiHill, DH was in Zurich yesterday and said it was as hot there as it is here in the UK. Pink Pilates are off for the month of August due to scout hall closing and no one wanted to commit to the walking group, so I have some Pilates down time. Off to work on another closet clean-out. Older exercise class and pilates earlier. Happy Tuesday everyone.

Salsa congratulations what a great accomplishment. Beautiful pics Wonderland. JaBoo every little bit counts. Life - Ruth always talks about being a terrible packer, well I am a terrible unpacker I can come back from a trip and 3 weeks later my suitcase is still open on my bedroom floor, but I went on a trip this past weekend up to Northern California and I made a promise to myself that I would try and be better so when I got home I vowed to do 4 things each day and so far it's working I have actually unpacked everything, the suitcase hasn't made it to the garage but I'm making progress so little steps help.

If anyone is thinking of coming to Nashville they should just jump on in, people thought I was crazy when I told them I was going to meet up with ladies I met on the internet on that first trip but it's one of the best decisions I've ever made, we all love to laugh and have fun and it's a great experience and as all the others will say Ruth is the best planner and if you've never been Nashville is a really fun place.

As I said went up to NorCal this past weekend for a baby shower. Sunday went to a class with an instructor I know - I totally misread the class and thought I was going to Grit Strength but it was Grit Plyo and he told me to stay and just do low options which I did, my girlfriends husband came with me as he belongs to that gym - he lasted 17 minutes and then told his daughters that he felt like passing out and throwing up so he had to leave but now he has great respect for me for being able to do the entire class and has decided he will try classes as he did enjoy it.

    Karen: Your summer sounds amazing!

Cheryl: WOW! You are strong and beautiful and always an inspiration!!!

Arrived home yesterday from Ireland to 95 degree heat and humidity. Missing Ireland and her weather in the 60s already! We had a fabulous trip to say the least. Lots of history, gorgeous green scenery, sheep, and friendly people. I'm ready to go back!

It rained almost daily here while we were away for 12 days. OMG the grass! Dh and I pushed mowed earlier today and now I'm whipped!

Claire, what wonderfull photo-story, thank you so much for sharing.

Today we got like half-hour of my nephew's time to look after the kids, so we went (DH and me) for a walk.... 3km steep uphill and back down in forest terrain. It felt good, almost normal.. so not looking for next AC next week

So far this week I have done 75 min each day of aqua aerobic/resistance training. I am going to miss my daily habit when school starts. DS is getting stuff packed to go back to school and getting very "depressed". He is very conflicted about enjoying being home (rural)and back at school (in the center of a big city). Poor boy!

Tried a new class Dance2Fit. Slower pace than some of my others but lots of toning so it was good. I also did Bone Builders & walked dogs (it is still nice today but the forecast says record heat is on the was).

    Welcome home, Wonderland!

Hi all - I am new to this topic - I am 23 days post-surgery (nipple sparing bmx, direct-to-implant, plus oophorectomy). My last surgical drains only came out last Thursday and I was cleared for a limited # of exercises as of Saturday. I know it has to get better. I can barely get my own hair into a ponytail! I'm supposed to do "snow angels" - it's a trial just getting laid out on my back on my mat on the floor, much less move arms once I get there! I call it the spatchcocked chicken pose. But I am walking half an hour a day and as of this morning am at my presurgery distance and pace - 1.75 miles on our little country road (rolling hills)! And today I am comfortably wearing a pair of light pants that were impossible last week (serious beach ball belly from the laparascopic ooph). Reading what all of you are able to do is so reassuring. Laughter, it's better than crying!!

Welcome Varmonster, day by day it gets better and you can do a little more each day. Last week I had mentioned this piece I had read and only just found it again, I found it really interesting https://www.lesmills.com/fit-planet/fitness/cyclin...

No exercise for me yesterday as I went out to a birthday dinner so I am going to make it up tonight.

Welcome, Varmonster! It does indeed get better, and laughter IS the best medicine!

The Wednesday Women walked around a friend's neighborhood and then she served us breakfast. We had extra people because some of our un-retired teacher friends joined us before they have to go back to work (which is soon around here, their workshops start the 20th!). I'll go the Dance2Fit tonight.

We ordered a new washer and dryer from Costco yesterday. It is being delivered next Tuesday. So today I decided to clean up the laundry room and get rid of all the stuff just laying around and on the dryer. I moved the washing machine and the dirt was unbelievable. I was easy to clean and felt like a big accomplishment. Our washer/dryer and old and dryer doesn't always work. I was excited when I saw the washer in Costco with dials and not digital. I don't want all this new high tech on my appliances.

Tomorrow morning I'm giving blood, then plan to get a pedi and a haircut. Still more to do to get ready for work....I've gone through a lot of stuff, but now need to go through my bag I used last year and clean it out. I bought a new backpack but not sure if I will use it or use the big bag that I started to use last winter. Two more days and summer vacation is officially over (I don't count week-ends as I always have week-ens off). I've been going on long morning walks 45+ minutes that I won't have time to do once I'm back to work - will get a 25 minute walk at most. Once winter comes, and its dark in the morning its harder to walk before work.

Put a small notebook away for "safe keeping" when I was gone and couldn't remember where I put it. I have a small built in desk with 2 drawers and a door. So decided I would look through the junk in their. Oh my, the stuff I found in the door - most of it went in the garbage - why I had saved some of the junk! After doing all this, I finally remembered where I put it!! Feeling accomplished tonight.

    Sweet dreams

Ksren-Isn't it crazy the amount of junk we accumulate? im still cleaning out closets. I want to start painting my guest bedroom within the next few days. I think I'm being overly ambitious because I haven't even finished cleaning out the closets in that room. Too much stuff.

Summer vacation is coming to an end! I've gone through and cleaned out my work bag from last year and so I guess I'm ready! This has been a great travel summer.

I go back on the 13th and my girls both arrive on the 16th late afternoon. DD#1 is coming for a week and DD#2 will be in America for a month. We are going to do the Unveiling of the headstone for Mom. Unfortunately my brother is having some lung issues and the altitude is too hard for him right now. I offered to postpone, but he said since my girls were coming to keep the date. My uncle (Mom's younger brother) is in the hospital right now - and supposed to have surgery tomorrow - my cousin has been keeping my brother posted. Worried about my uncle. He lives in Montreal. I need to email my cousin.

Pedi and haircut today and more puttering and going through things in the house - today in the roll top desk - can't believe all the stuff that has been in the drawers for years - and didn't know it was there.

    Sweet dreams.

Welcome Vermonster! I was in your neck of the woods yesterday. My friend is a bus tour guide, and she got assigned a tour of New England that is new to her for this fall. She is thorough, and wanted to check out her tour stops ahead of time, so we did a very long day in the car yesterday (we live in Rhode Island), checking out some of the Massachusetts and Vermont stops. My favorite was the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, excellent display of his work and life, and beautiful grounds. We lingered there a bit too long, so our other stops up into Vermont were briefer, but still beautiful. I lived in Brattleboro for a year in my 20's when I was still trying to figure out my life, so our trip home included a drive through of that town for a little nostalgia.

But spent way too much time on my butt in the car yesterday, and today meeting a friend for lunch and a movie (got to see my Tom Cruise!), then a barbecue at another friends house tonight. Finally our heat wave with humidity broke, and it was in the 60's this morning, I was very grateful - I really was having a hard time with the heat!

Hi Pat01 - I'm glad you were able to travel through Vermont! It is a beautiful place to live, for sure. We've had a lot of humidity and high temps lately - but I can't imagine being anywhere else! I haven't been to the Rockwell museum in years, but I have a friend that worked there back in high school!

I worked a real half day yesterday (I've been puttering slowly at home, replying to emails, returning calls and gently pushing papers at the home office and doing light household stuff) - I was exhausted - I got home around 2pm, napped until around 6pm, went to bed before 10pm and slept until nearly 8am this morning. But I have already done today's exercises and stretches and walked and am ready to putter some more. I'm feeling pretty good for 25 days post-surgery, but some of the stretches are still kicking my butt. The most helpful one is a modified child's pose - really makes me feel like I can move more smoothly in the arms/chest/shoulders. The worst is still that stupid snow angel. I swear my cat is laughing at me.

There are still only ten people (other than med folks) that know about my diagnosis & surgery - maybe I'm too private for my own good, but I totally don't want people looking at me differently or treating me like I'm fragile.

Anyway - I am grateful for this BCO community - the success stories, supportive & kind words, guidance and NORMAL stuff is wonderful. Thank you all!

Ruth sometimes you find great new instructors when they sub for regulars on vacation. Pat your friend sounds terrific she must love her job to go that extra mile going out before she takes the tour group out.

Yesterday did Sprint class and ten came home and worked in my poor neglected garden, it's been so hot outside I just couldn't be asked but my flowers needs deadheading and watering so I worked into the evening. Still horribly hot here and yesterday our sky was so eerie what with the Holy fire so near to us and today our cars are covered in ash, those firefighters are truly amazing - this was our sky yesterday.
