And another Happy B'day to 97 lb heart throb Bruno!

Oh, similar to others recently, the Dr told me to eat more meat! Wow, has that advice come full circle. TT

I baked Christmas cookies all day; which can't count as exercise, especially since I did some sampling.

I'm baking cookies tomorrow with my sister, sil, and dd. It will not be counted as exercise.

Sat outside in the sun and read my book this afternoon. Walked. Then shopped for cookie ingredients and a few other things.

No baking for me till 2024. Still have cookies in the freezer even after DD#1 took a few bags. I did make cranberry muffins yesterday as I like them for breakfast and I make them several with me.

GD turned 7 months today - the time is going all too quickly. Keep checking flights for February. My poor VISA - every time I think the bill won't be so much it is! But it's worth every penny to see my kids.

Going to start picking out clothes tonight to take. Want to be finished packing tomorrow night or early Monday morning. I'm taking 4 jean skirts plus flying in one. I know that is way too much for 12 days, but as DD#2 likes to say, I want choices. Now to pick tops. Tights, leggings, shoes etc will be easy. Coat/vest,fleece and hoodie, I think I've got picked out.

Tomorrow, I'm going for a haircut and mani/pedi. I need to do a few things in the house and run a couple errands.

Monday, I have a "housecalls" visit that is part of my Medicare Advantage - I get a $50 Visa gift card to its worth the time - and they come to my house. Then to the bank and meet a girlfriend after lunch and lastly, DH and I have something late in the afternoon. By the time we get home from that it will be last minute things. Hopefully there won't be many last minute things, besides gather snacks and something to eat on the plane as we leave at 9:30am but get in the Boston at 4:00, then a 4 hour layover.

I've tried really hard to not have much produce left to throw out and I think I've done a pretty good job.

    Well, I best get busy.

Ah Karen, the getting ready to leave drill which I am so bad at! Packing is my nemesis! I love all things cranberry, so those muffins sound delicious.

I walked at out fitness center this morning & spent most of the rest of the day cleaning house. I think I now have a guest list for Christmas Eve, so I've been working on a menu and grocery list this evening.

DS is taking us to the airport, We have 4 large duffle bags (2 with medical supplies for soldiers, and one for each of us), we each have a carry on and a backpack. Two off the duffles were very light weight but no wheels. DH will have to get a cart. Can't do curbside check-in with international flights. It will be a long day of travel - get to the airport 2 hours early, 4 hours to Boston, 4 hour layover, then 10 hour flight. 20 hours not counting getting to airport and then once we arrive going through customs, renting a car and driving to where we are stying. In all, the travel is around 25 hours. But so worth it. I sure wish we were going for longer. But finishing work on Thursday, it would have been hard for me to leave Sunday or even today - I just don't have the stamina anymore.

We will walk in the airport here and in Boston to get steps in. DS is picking us up at 7:30 so no time to walk before that.

Ruth and Wonder, what type cookies did you make?

    Jazzy enjoy your getaways

I'll try to check in while I'm gone.

    Sweet dreams

I am tired just reading your travel day, Karen! Hope all goes as smoothly as possible!

I made cookies that my mom always made (I still have the recipe cards in her handwriting). Peanut butter blossoms (with the Hersey Kisses in the middle of the cookie). A Candy Cane cookie (you divide the dough in 3 piles, put red food coloring in one pile, green in the second, and leave the third), You twist the white & red or green into a 'pole' shape, bend the top so it looks like a candy cane. And I made Cookie Cutter Cookies; put dough in fridge, roll out, cut into shapes (I have a box of all different shapes from when DS was young), frost and decorate. (The secret ingredient is orange peel in the dough.) That's all I made because they are fussy & take a long time!

Errands today, Zumba & Yoga tonight.

Arrived safely. Long travel day. I managed to sleep a little on the plane but didn't sleep well Monday night so was already tired when we left.

Tomorrow we are delivering medical supples to soldiers on one of the bases in the south - 2 large duffle bags that we brought with us. Still need to plan out Sunday - Thursday for next week.

I remember my MIL making those peanut butter cookies, and I remember seeing the candy cane cookies. yummy

Glad you are safely arrived, Karen. Don't forget to schedule in a tiny bit of down time!

The Wednesday Walking Women walked & had our annual Christmas Brunch and White Elephant Gift Exchange. Yummy food, goofy gifts, and lots of laughs!

Karen: Safe and fun travels! You and your dh are to be commended for bringing medical supplies to the soldiers. You are such a caring person..

Ruth: Your group picture just shouts, "We are having the best time!"

I baked Rugelach cookies for the first time. SIL loved them so much that I'm baking him a special patch for his Christmas present.

I've been slowly getting ready for Christmas. Cleaning house some today. Will go to the grocery store tomorrow but first need to thoroughly think through my food needs for the next several days. We are having a Christmas gathering on Saturday with dh's side of the family so I'll be preparing some dishes for that. Also, our church prepares lunch every Saturday for whoever wants a lunch. The people who work the lunch have asked members to bring in home cooked meals to serve so I will also be preparing dishes for that meal. Dh and I be alone on Christmas Eve and I want a special meal for that. Then Christmas day dd, sil, ds, and his gf will be here around noon for brunch and Christmas festivities. Will need to have finger food for later in the day. Sounds like I better get on the ball!

We had an amazing day yesterday. We didn't get to go into any bases, but we met with 3 different groups of soldiers to give the life saving medical supplies. We still have more supplies to give out, but we left them with our contact. They will let us know if we can deliver more with them while we are here next week. We also saw many sights in the area that were devastated on October 7th. Very emotional. We totally feel safe. Monday we are going produce picking which is all day. Sunday we may help pack meals for families. We are seeing close friends Saturday night and others next week. Taking it day by day. Better get dressed and get ready to go pick up food for Shabbat - this girl doesn't cook when on vacation. The only time we eat out or buy yummy prepared food. Today is a day to go into town and relax. Shabbat comes in early so it is a short day. Depending where you are at, we are 7-10 hours ahead of you. 7 hours eastern time, 9 mountain time, 10 pacific time.

    Have a great Friday.

Your day yesterday sounds very, very moving., Karen. I'm glad you could meet with some of the soldiers, who can never be appreciated enough. I am also glad to hear that you do not cook on vacation!!!!

I went to Pound yesterday morning. Last night, everyone dressed in holiday attire (complete with jingle bells) for our Dance2fit class where all our songs were holiday songs. So fun! One of our ladies invited us to her house afterwards for visiting and yummy appetizers. Today I will do a dog walk, some sort of toning at home & start getting ready to entertain on Christmas Eve. (I HOPE I did the last of my errands yesterday!)

Hope everyone is ready for the holidays! I think I am. Our weather was nice again but later tonight through Tuesday, we might get a rain/ice/sleet/snow combination; so that would be really bad. Time will tell, I guess (either way I will have a big turkey that will need to be eaten by someone). We took another nice walk & I did 45 minutes of toning utube workouts.

Yesterday we delivered the last of the medical supplies on a base near Jerusalem. Today we are packing beef Jerky for soldiers and tomorrow we are picking fruit on a farm about an hour from Jerusalem. We still need to figure out Wednesday and Thursday. Friday we are going to Friends for Shabbat and then Sunday we will spend in Tel Aviv and fly back to Denver late at night. Saturday afternoon into yesterday afternoon it rained, pretty much non-stop. The rest of the trip the weather should be nice. The next few nights we are meeting up with friends, two who have lived in Israel for a number of years but originally from Denver and the other our neighbor who is here volunteering for a month on farms. The time is going by all too quickly. Wish would could be longer, but a thing called work, till I retire, gets in the way! Oh well, in due time.

On the base yesterday, one of the soldiers is originally from the states. His parent's Rabbi is a friend of ours and he knows 3 former Denverites who went to school with our kids and we've known their parents for decades. Small world.

Ruth, hope your weather doesn't turn to ice and that you have your planned company to share your turkey. Wonder, enjoy your family for Christmas. Love the picture of the WWW.

Wishing everyone who celebrates, a very happy Christmas holiday.🌲🌲

It seems like one meets someone who knows someone you know wherever you go! I think you are too busy to work for very much longer, Karen!! 😀Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Our weather took and sudden bad turn. Yesterday we had a rain/snow/ice mix coming down. We have a pause this morning, but it is supposed to start up later today & be very bad for traveling through Tuesday. Because of the weather, we had extra people for our turkey & trimming last night. Our friends know that if they can't get out of town, they can come over here! I ended up buying in small ham to make sure we had enough food (I got out of the car at the grocery store, slipped on ice, and down I went…I'm fine except my neck is sore). After the other guests left about 8:30, DS & DIL, and we visited more & opened gifts. We cleaned up after they left at 10:30, so it was a late night! They were planning to spend Christmas Day with her family (who live 1 1/2 hours away). I am waiting to hear if they still plan to go (I hope not with the weather situation). If they go, we will babysit all the dogs.

I think I will take the day off from exercising!!

We are in an ice storm warning until 6 pm Tuesday, so I am using my electronics now in case the power goes out!

    Thanks Ruth

Be safe, the storm looks big and dangerous. Today the high was 61 in SE Virginia. Cool/cold nights and mild days…we are in an area of the country with more climate change (hotter) than most,

watching continuous showings of It’s a Wonderful Life…my favorite ❤️

I thought I'd check in. The last few days have been wild. We don't usually get ice storms; but have made up for that in a big way. The weather started getting bad on Christmas Day & continued on from there. We were in an ice storm warning that just lifted today at noon. We lost power for about 4 hours last evening (we have a wood burning fireplace so were fine), the roads, yards etc. look like skating rinks & there are big, huge tree branches down all over (it's warming up now so it is spooky because the trees are groaning & cracking. Occasionally there is a big 'boom' when a whole wall of ice comes down. Very unsettling!

The Wednesday Walking Women stayed home & we exercised on our own. After two days of doing nothing, I did a 75 minute indoor walking DVD. I should put a toning one on too!!

Belated Merry Christmas! We have been enjoying warmer weather the last few days which has been really nice. We’ve been getting a few home projects done since we are on school break

That ice sounds awful. Glad you’re safe, Ruth!

Safe travels, Karen! I am glad you have had some nice family time with your children and your sweet granddaughter.

TT-what a sweet picture with your mom!

Karen: Continue safe travels on your amazing trip!

Ruth: Ice storms are awful and so scary. How is your neck from your fall? Sounds like it must be better if you've been picking up branches.

TT: Love your picture of you, your mom and sister.

Ginger: Always good to hear from you. That's great that you've been able to get home projects done.

Had a nice family gathering with dh's side of the family on December 23. Dh and I prepared a delicious meal for Christmas Eve. We decided to splurge and grilled filet mignon. Dd, sil, ds and his gf came over for Brunch on Christmas Day. Had the best time. Dh had been coughing for several days which started last week. He kept telling me it was sinus problems. I tried to get him to go to the doctor last week but you know how that goes. So Christmas night he felt worse - fever started, chills, sweats. I took him to the doctor the next day and he was positive for the flu. We both had the over age 65 flu vaccine. I thinks he got run down from coughing/sinus and then was exposed to the flu virus somewhere and came down with it. He was given Tamiflu and cough sryup and felt so much better by the next day. I had one day of a weird cough but that was all. Ds is sick. He also had the flu shot. This could have been so much worse if none of us had had the shot. I've told dh that next time when I say he needs to go to the doctor that he better go!

Wonderland, my neck us still sore; but much better than it was, si it appears that I will live! 🤪

Glad DH is feeling better. Fingers crossed that he didn't pass it along t you!

I went to Yoga and walked around the track with a friend this morning. I just got back from grocery shopping and realize that I didn't get the one item I really need. Argh!!! I have to go back and try again. 😩
