    Congratulations, Wonderland & DH!!!

It was raining this morning, so most of the Wednesday Walking Women stayed inside; just 3 of us braved the great outdoors, the rest walked indoors.

    Great picture, Ruth. Looks cold!

Walked this afternoon then sat during a 2.5 hour Zoom meeting.

My granddaughter turns one today! We put all her birthday presents together. He mom bought a Little Tikes slide. She can climb the steps to it just yet, but she loves to slide. We got her a riding toy that we bought for our house and a outside water table. Three adults couldn't get one part together so DH called the help line and it turns out it was on backwards.

We are having birthday cake for dinner and my daughter's in-laws are coming over.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN'S GRANDDAUGHTER!!! The first birthday is such a monumental milestone. Lol about taking 3 adults and a call to the help line to find out a piece was backwards. That would be me trying to assemble it!

    Walked earlier than usual today.

Enjoy the birthday party!! So fun to have a little person in the family to love & enjoy!

I went to HIT this morning & will do Dance2fit tonight. I SHOULD be going through closets & weeding out as I put the winter stuff away & drag out the summery things!

Birthday party was just cake with the parents and two sets of grandparents. Daughter made a sprinkle cake and GD enjoyed the cake. Lots of pictures all throughout the day. I want to make a snapfish or similar company to make a photo book of her first year. It will be hard picking photos as we have sooo many.

Trying to plan our summer and everything is so much pricier than in the past. Tired of trying to find a place on Airbnb and there is nothing on VRBO. We keep going back and forth - do we purchase plane tickets first or rent the place first. Another week has gone by and no closer to a decision.

2.5 weeks till the school year is over!!!! Time to start counting days - 10 days for me!

Congratulations to all teachers & students for successfully navigating another school year!

A good friend (who lives alone) broke her wrist yesterday; so, this morning I brought her some breakfast & helped her with some little things around the house….it's amazing all the things that are hard to do with only one hand! Her son is coming to town tomorrow to do her yardwork, thank goodness.

I took a very short walk & have spent the rest of the day going through closets. I have 3 big boxes of clothes to bring to a charity (and still have way too many clothes). Right now, DH is outside tilling up part of the yard so we can replant grass seed. None of the grass we planted & babied last year came back. Darn! It's starting to storm, so I hope he doesn't get struck by lightning!!!

Happy day with your GD Karen!

Yesterday ended 3 days of end of year ceremonies and finally graduation, well done and carried off without a protest that needed to shut down events. While it is "for" the graduate, I firmly believe the ceremony is "for" the grandmothers, aunties, mothers, fathers, etc. I practice all the names over and over again, so I can call them out with ease and the correct pronunciation. It is amazing what a small item like calling someone's name correctly is seen as a real honor and acceptance to that person and their family.

Has my PT evaluation on Friday and see the orthopedist tomorrow…they are saying 4 more weeks of PT for my back injury from catching my mom mid-fall back in March. My PT is really just working on legs and core, but as it is getting more difficult, I realize I need to up my game.

Happy new week everyone…it's mom's b'day on Wednesday! TT

Glad your graduation ceremony went off without a hitch, TT. It is definitely for the families! Happy Birthday to your mom on Wednesday!

Yesterday I went for a long walk & took a 30 minute stretching class; which I'm sure was very good for me but I didn't really enjoy. Yoga today.

TT: Happy to hear your graduation ceremony was not interrupted or cancelled. That is very special of you to make the effort to correctly pronounce everyone's name with ease. Hope your appointment with the orthopedist today was a good one.

Ruth: Sorry about your friend breaking her wrist. I need to switch out my clothes also.

Yesterday dh and I attended the touring production of To Kill a Mockingbird starring Richard Thomas. Thanks to a good friend of mine who has season tickets where this was held, I was able to buy awesome tickets through her account. We were sitting in the center of the 3rd row! It was amazing. I have loved Richard ever since seeing him on the very first Walton special before it was made into a TV show.

    Walked today.

Took advantage of the hot day and washed and hung hubby’s laundry out to dry

Two friends gave me some of the perennials they were thinning from their flowerbeds, so I've been busy putting them into mine (I still haven't bought annuals to fill in & for my pots). One of my old teaching friends died unexpectedly Monday night, so I brought some cookies & paper products (paper plates, napkins, silverware, cups, Kleenex, paper towels etc) over to the house.

Ruth: I am so sorry about your friend dying unexpectedly. Paper products are always needed, especially in a sudden situation.

m0mmy: The sun and heat dries clothes quickly!

I like to watch the nightly news. The destruction from tornado after tornado for weeks is unbelievable and heartbreaking for those who have lost everything. I can't imagine losing my home in seconds. It just seems unreal but it's not. Climate change, climate change, climate change. Everyone is affected by it one way or another.

    Walked this afternoon.

oh yes! I had all his laundry dried in just under three hours! Plus I folded them as the came in off the line.

The hurricane predictions for this year were released today and it's scary. Plus more tornadoes predicted for tonight. When I watch the nightly news I feel like it's 2020 but this time it's the weather that is upsetting.

Mowed for 90 minutes and also walked.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. We had a horrible, windy, rainy day yesterday (with no exercise for me) but today was lovely. I went on a long walk & then to a graduation party before I went to my friend's funeral. He was in his church choir and a men's community singing group; so there was lots of beautiful music. We had a very close staff, so it was really great to connect with some of those old friends again.

So sorry to hear of your friends sudden death. I'm sure the service was lovely, whenever a member of our church choir dies, the service is always extra special with all the additional music.

I start teaching summer school on Tuesday, so I took this past week "off" (worked 20hrs PT all from home)…not going into school/into my office is such a break after the rush to finish and then graduation last weekend.

4 days at the gym and 2 PT sessions for me as my exercise last week

The tornadoes and hurricane forecast are scary. We have had light hurricane action the past couple of years, but we have many stories of hurricanes leaving us without power for 5-8 days…really no fun.

Stay safe this holiday weekend. Giving thanks to all who served…including my FiL who landed on D-Day +6.

Edited…Currently watching the PBS Memorial Day concert…always a touching event, the stories make me cry within myself/unable to speak…my DH is 39 years with the Navy…TT

I'm going to add a good Memorial Day quote when I am done with post. My dad & his brother both fought in WWII. My dad was fighting in the Pacific and would have been in the first wave in the invasion of Japan had not the Atomic Bomb been dropped. One of DH's uncles died fighting in Italy. His family still has the last letter he wrote his mom. So, thank you to all who have served & especially those who never came home.

I spent all yesterday afternoon buying and planting flowers. Today, I need to go back & get some more to 'fill in' empty spots. I need more hanging baskets, but they are rather picked over at the moment. Tomorrow is DS's birthday, so tonight we are taking him, DIL, and a couple of their friends out to dinner. I either need to make or buy some cupcakes to bring along.

Hope everyone is the severe weather areas are okay. Very scary weather!

Worked out yesterday and puttering around the house today.

I too have a connection to Memorial Day one of my maternal Great Uncles died in the European theater in WWII. My paternal grandmother lost a cousin in the Bataan Death March.

    Happy Memorial Day.

Just a quick drop in. Walked yesterday. Had a bad storm last night and a tree fall which knocked out power for 8 hours. All better now.

No formal exercise today. Dd and sil came over for a cookout.

Yikes, wonderland, I will have to call my sister (who lives about an hour away from wonderland).

My Dance2fit instructor is a teacher. Now that it's summer, she is doing an Tuesday class at 8 am. So, I went to that & then went over & helped out my friend who broke her wrist. I will go back to Barre tonight.
