Saturday I did some housework, worked up a sweat for about 45 min.

Monday went to the gym at the casino (did lots of walking back and forth to the casino from the hotel room!) and did 30 min. of light weights and a little treadmill.

I hate that come tomorrow after my 2nd FEC, I will probably only be able to get a few walks in for a while :( I was just starting to feel almost normal~

Just do what you can. It's OK to 'just walk'.....it will help you to bounce quicker when this is all over. How many rounds do you have to do?

    hi Ruth

I have a total of 4 FECs and 4 Docetaxel, every 3 weeks, tomorrow is round 2 of FEC...woohoo only 6 to go after tomorrow! LOL

Did you find it hard during chemo to  keep up? I know after the first few days or even the 2nd day I think, I was walking 20-30 min. each night, then around day 5 or 6 I crashed a bit...it's like a roller coaster, some days I have so much energy and some days the thought of walking hurts me. But the last week or so has been much better as far as energy, love week 3!!!!

I did dose dense so felt pretty crappy the first three days. I would just put my tennis shoes on and walk around and around the house those days and do some light toning. Then I would feel better and better and be able to do more and more until the next round. BLAH! But I knew I had to keep moving because I am too lazy to start all the way over from scratch!

Could not entice anyone to leave the air conditioning yesterday to walk over to the Capitol to walk, so it was just me.  Probably going to be the same today.  Not that that will stop me...

Good Morning! Getting caught up with you ACTIVE ladies! GOOD STUFF i am reading...keep it up everyone!  Do what you can, when you can...even if slow and steady. In fact, some of the yoga, controling core muscle is ACTIVE.  My one doc told me to try TI CHI...he owns a retreat center and  I may try it.  Another activity is dog training.   Trying to TEACH the pup who is getting bigger every day to NOT pull on the leash and walk at YOUR slow even pace is actually harder than the usual fetch game with fisbee.

Yesterday I had a friend come over and notice that I use the weights MORE in the pool when someone is here to talk to :)  Went to sleep with an ice pack again last night to my foot..grrrrhhh

During the day I was limping again and the bone at the great toe was red and inflamed like a bunion forming?  Arthritis flare up maybe and more meds...I feel better cuz of meds, stop them, and pain back...could this REALLY be happening to me?  Am I really getting old and have to face a "new normal".   It is depressing if it is the case but reality.

Right now at 630 am the windows are entirely fogged up with humidity ...that is not a good sign to go outside.  Going to try and have an ACTIVE day of organizing, errands, and counting my blessings.

MRDRN you should try the Tai Chi, it is wonderful.  The fluid movements are so calming and the deep breathing that goes with the movements is so good for us.  Hope the toe feels better, I know what you mean as last night in my Step class I was dragging and after one track I just blurted out "gosh I need a rocking chair and a porch" and I got laughed at, but my oh my is was so hot and humid.

patoo you will be happy with the running shoes.  go to a place where they actually fit you for your shoe.  The shoes are a little more expensive but well worth what you get.  They will look at how you stand on your feet and will put you in the shoe that is best for your foot and arches etc.  I mostly walk but it has made a huge difference.  My knees were starting to hurt but once I fot fitted it went away.  Funny thing is I ended up in the same brand of shoe but a higher quality.

Did my yoga class last night and instructor was very good about being careful with my neck, funny thing is on Tuesday evening we do it at her house and there is three of us well one of the guys has the same problem that I have but he never said anything so we talked about what we can do and not do and our instructor is going to do some research for us.

Patoo - If you're looking for a place that will help fit you properly with running shoes, I was really pleased at my experience yesterday in buying running shoes at Fleet Feet.  They are very thorough with measurements, observations of you as you walk and run, and talking with you about where and how much you run.  It took probably close to an hour just to buy my shoes - that's how thorough they are.  They even have a treadmill in the store so you can actually run in the shoes you're considering.  At one point I was torn between two different shoes, and she suggested running with a different shoe on each foot - that really helped me make my decision!  They also have orthotics and inserts they can fit you for if you need them.  They also made me feel welcome - some places like that can make you feel weird if you're not an elite athlete, but I felt fine there.  I just checked their webiste and there are some locations in New Jersey - here's their website with a list of locations.  http://www.fleetfeetsports.com

Of course now that I have my beautiful new running shoes, it's gotten too hot to use them - when it's almost 80 at 6am with about 1,000% humidity, I'm not getting out there.  Hopefully this week will be the worst of it and I can get back out next week - I wanna wear my new shoes!!

Yoga class last night - but it was too miserable for me to walk the mile and back to the class, so I missed out on that.  20 minutes Lebeds and 30 minutes weight/resistance training this morning.

Natsfan my place did the same thing.  I also was down to two shoes and they had me wear both and walk and run in them so I could tell the difference.  Also my place said if you get out there and you use them and they don't feel right bring them back and we will exchange them.  Any reputable running shoe place will give you that option.  They do not want your feet, knees or hips hurting when you run.

Checking in - I'm an old member of this board.  Hope everyone is staying cool!  I am still riding my 20 miles in the morning staying well hydrated with my camelpak.  Thanks for all the PMs from friends - I am getting help with some depression issues and starting to feel better. Thank goodness for exercise Kiss  Hugs to all!!

Thanks for the website for the shoes.  I did buy a good pair but the website vhshea sent me to also said it's good to have 2 pairs to alternate so I may do that after I break these in a little.  Waiting for it to get a little cooler like last night and will try and push a little more running tonight.  I'm motivated so need to do it now.  I can just go out for a little and then come home and run on the treadmill.  Also need to get some quality sports bras.  It doesn't look too pretty to be running with my forearms helping with support.

Funny, I wondered why the sports store I bought the shoes in had a treadmill in the shoe dept!

    Back later.

Thanks Patoo and yes I have gotten shoes at FleetFeet and they have great customer service.

I am getting up and out to try doubles tennis in the morning but it is def not the level I used to be. I think I will sign up for the next Tai Chi too.  Thanks for the feedback Sherry.

    Stay Cool ALL!

    Boy, has everyone been busy!

Patoo:  Good for you, starting to run!  I believe that we are never too late in life to do just about ANYTHING!  I'll look into Fleet Feet myself and see what they have.

Bobbi:  As Ruth said, good to hear from you!

hbCheryl:  Any word on the mammogram?

HUGS to Everyone Else - still got stuff to do today, so I'll check in probably tomorrow.

Did my 4.6 miles at work, sculpt and tone tonight.

Still hot, but a big wind northly came through and blew some of the humidity away with it, so I was able to go for a walk.....dodging between the shade trees. Also did 30 minutes of Pilates.

ruthbru - great news on the 6-month checkup!

Glad to hear that gardening counts - my DH and I worked about 3 hours in the backyard today trimming, weeding, re-mulching, etc.  I'm counting that as exercise because it sure did wipe me out!

I've been wondering about Tai Chi too...I haven't tried it, but I think I'll look into it. Sounds like it could only be helpful. But I'm still looking forward to running again!!! I've been looking at races lately and fantasizing about setting a goal to point to a specific bc-related running event (there's one in Jacksonville Beach on 2/12/12). I'm a little uneasy because I don't yet know how the Arimidex and the fills/exchange surgery will affect me.

Well walked some, ran a little, very little because could not even breathe outside.  Came in and did a few mins on the treadmill.  Have to get it together but it takes time.  More tomorrow.

Congratulations on passing your exam today Ruth!
